I definitely think that made the right call in not purchasing what you weren't sure about, especially not from an AD that was pressuring you. Purchasing a Rolex should be a memorable moment.
I was on a waitlist for a 41 OP in green for 2.5 years until the day before my birthday, my AD offer me a celebration dial 41 OP which I gratefully accepted! I am also based in the UK.
Congratulations - the green dial OP36 is an amazing watch. The dial changes color in different light and looks incredible when outside on a sunny day. It is one of my favorite watches in my collection. I waited 15 months for mine and it was well worth the wait.
I totally agree re. green colour! Even when I was shooting the footage, the sun was moving and I noticed how the dial turned from intense bright green to a more dull green, it is just amazing! Congrats on picking up yours as well! 🤜🏼 🤛🏼
It might be because there is a lot more demand for an entry level steel watch given the price point, which makes it harder to obtain vs a two-tone model.
I think I prefer the OP36 more because the bracelet does not taper as aggressively as the Explorer, I also like the more unique dial the Green OP offers! Both great watches for everyday use nonetheless!
@@KCTimeShare well I've yet to buy a dj for myself but if I did that's the size. Trouble is, I'd really have to wait for a dial as special as the palm motif. My wife got it, it's the best!
Great video! Would your local AD with a good relationship supply you something like a Batgirl with a short wait time? Or how long would you be expected to wait?
I'm not sure if I'm honest. I put my name down for the Black/Blue GMT at the same time as this Green OP36, and I'm still waiting for the GMT and AD hasn't given me any indication on timing 🥲
@@Coolguy24686 he Black/Blue GMT is more difficult to achieve than the Black SubDate and Rootbeer I reckon, and it is probably also harder to get than the Green OP. ADs usually wouldn't quote any timeframe to avoid disappointing their clients so there isn't much point asking if I'm honest 🫢
Not giving you time to consider the offer of a piece you did not register for is ridiculous. I’m glad you held firm. Happy birthday and congrats on the green OP36!
Congrats on the green op for your birthday. I think thats tough for a first buy, so since you conversed with them/made an amicable relationship and had purchase history, it’s no surprise they prioritized you. I inquired about the same watch but i only have one purchase. I inquired at another AD but no purchase history there. So prob a shot in the dark but they SA actually texts me time to time
@@KCTimeShare yes very good thank you. On the time I was asking I was looking at these. I went for the green and cream smith & Rowe 3 watch roll. So I was glad to see you recommended them as I had already purchased 👍
Same situation. I've been offered mint green 36DJ fluted with jubilee. Turned it down. One month later, got offer for 36 op green and happy with the purchase. HAHA
I’m a big fan of watches and collector. I love watches in my watch collection. I’ve got 2 Citizen , Maserati, 6 G-Shocks , Fossil, Tommy Hilfiger, Rip Curl, Chisel, 6 Disney watches, and now and my first Seiko and first automatic I love everything about watches the history of the craft Windship. I’ve even got a couple of Rolex catalogue, I’ve even gotten omega catalogue because before I get my Rolex, I’m planning to buy myself a Tudor black bay 41mm black on oyster bracelet
Is it just me or does that old 40mm 114060 seem like its actually larger than the new 41mm 126610? Lugs on the old Sub (which I own) are so big and pronounced with a slimmer bracelet that it seems much more bold and muscular! Somehow they made the watch larger and more elegant for the new model - I really like it alot.
Keep the palm Datejust! It will be increasingly rare to see I think. I too turned down a mint green datejust from my AD, but ended up getting the blue dial date just instead. She actually let me choose between the two! I just felt the mint green was too subtle, but maybe it looks more vivid in sunlight? I think I'll put myself on the list for the green OP soon, I just need to decide between the 41mm and 36mm since my wrist is just over the cusp of having the 41 fit, but I also think that size looked good when I tried it on a few weeks ago.
Yes, I also prefer blue over green on the DJ for the exact reason you stated. Did you get the DJ in 36mm or 41mm? I presume you are happy with the sizing of your DJ and in this case, shouldn't you just get the OP in the same size?
@@KCTimeShare I like the size of my DJ 36, but if I go for the OP, the 41mm might work to give it a little more impact. My wrist is a little bigger than 6.5" which is probably in the safe-zone for the 41. I also have a PRX 40mm and it fits fine, so maybe the OP 41 will work too since it is a sleeker shape?
@@Orozco_PNW I think the case of the DJ and OP are they same, just that DJ has a polished case whereas the OP has a brushed case. Either way, no harm to get the OP in a different size as it will give you more diversity in your collection!
@@KCTimeShare I could use some diversity! All my 3 Swiss watches have blue dials 🤣 (DJ 36, BB58, PRX) but I have a couple of Seiko's to mix things up...
Love the op36 green. My favourite watch in my collection. Regarding the mint dj 36, i also wouldn’t be 100% but i would have said yes over the phone. Well within your rights to turn it down upon seeing it in person. Still a distance sale until you are there.
Interesting that they say the 36mm is also requested by women - not sure why the Explorer was downsized for the latest model. 35.5mm and 19mm bracelet tapering to 14mm - this makes it the size of a 1988 AirKing for example
I think people tend to wear bigger watches these days so it makes sense that women are also interested in 36mm, I believe this size is considered 'mid-size' these days. Good point on the Explorer, I feel like the changes Rolex made make the watch looks even smaller than the 36mm case size would suggest!
@@KCTimeShare my theory is that they wanted to bring the Explorer more in line with other professional range models, therefore the 40mm version. The smaller Explorer is targeted towards women, hence the two tone option.
@@KCTimeShare it was a DateJust 36 Fluted, Jubilee, white dial Roman numerals for my ex girlfriend. I still have it for my next one, I won’t make the same mistake, this time after marriage hopefully 😂
3 months ago I would have jumped on the Mint Green Flutted Jubile. Im on the waiting list for this piece since January 2023. In the meantime I get the Wimbledon 36 and the Explorer 36. Im about to get out of the waiting list because Im looking for other models which are not Datejust. This call for the Mint green is lucky tho 👍🏻
Thank you ! Im still hesitate between a 124060 and a 14060 because of my 16cm wrist. And I really want to try the new GMT black and grey because its remind me my favorite GMT 116710LN and the black and grey bezel is so stunning I tried the GMT 2023 two tone with the same bezel ❤
@@Jordan-iz3uh These are all great watches and you seriously cannot go wrong with any of your picks! The problem with Rolex though is how to source one from an AD ... I think the new GMT will be extremely difficult to obtain, at least for now!
@@KCTimeShare that's why I came to my AD the first day of the Watch&Wonders to get in the list for the GMT so I could be among the first 😂!! I'm on the waiting list for the 124060 from December 2023.
@@Jordan-iz3uh I'm pretty sure the magical "list" is not done by a first come first serve basis, so I'm not sure registering your interest on the first day of W&W would help much, but it is worth a try I supposed. Good luck and I hope you will get your watch very soon!
