130wpm for 10 seconds is easy the real test is 60 seconds since you'll inevitably have mess ups and have to type even faster to recover (also monkeytype english standard no puncuation is easy in general, try to get 130 on typeracer)
The problem with all of these typing tests is that you will always go faster typing what you have in your head than having to read out the specific prompt that it wants you to type
For me, it's very much the other way round. It's easier for me to copy what I see on the screen than it is to come up with something on my own. But maybe that's because I've had a lot of typing test practice and English is not my first language?
Just read the prompt before you start typing. It’s the same thing as thinking about what you type. Also that’s how all actions work in general you should be thinking before you do anything anyway.
@@crustykeycap5670Thinking about what you want to type comes naturally; reading the prompt, especially when it's a prompt of total nonsense, isn't going to do much for you.

he's typing using monkeytype and only for 15 seconds - if he were to convert to a standard typing test with punctuation and longer sentences, his wpm I estimate to be closer to 100. the 15 second tests on monkeytype are super inflated lol
thats literally me lmao ive been a typing king since 3rd grade in 3rd grade I could type upwards of 160 wpm no cap edit: I also play the piano and at the time Ive been playing for like 4 years??
It's fast, but people speak around 180-200 WPM, so if you are transcribing you might fall behind sometimes. If you are doing other types of work 130 is actually really great. Most places only expect 30 WPM.
It's a blessing and a curse, I get projects done with about 85-90 WPM of speed (Max at 140 WPM when trying) a lot sooner than others, and discouraged by others for the noise I make doing it; even by my computer teacher. Quite motivating honestly.
I went to a private school in the late 90's, early 2000's.. so we had computer labs with weekly computer class at a time when most adults didn't own a PC or even know what an "internet" was. I was also an only child, and my parents gifted me a PC with internet access in 1997 when I was 7 years old, and it became my obsession. We had typing competitions throughout the class/grade/school and used a program that measured our WPM. It maxed out at 130 WPM seemingly, and I was the only one in the school (kids and adults alike) who was able to consistently get 130WPM every single time with no mistakes. The only other person who got 130WPM back then was my classmate and best friend (Who is still my best friend now, 25 years later). We'd come home from school and chat on AIM and show eachother our Pokemon/DBZ/Neopets websites we'd create with basic HTML. The world was an entirely different place back then, it's insane to see how many people can now type like we were back then.
I recently finally got to 45 wpm but it does not really matter anyways for most things. The main reason is due to my crappy spelling. I always have to go back to fix my mistakes or when writing a essay I have to give myself some time to think what time write about.
there's something that makes you think that "I'm faster than that", and you just can get it. Have you ever felt like that at some point? I'm 110 wpm and 100 on typeracer
I need to learn that typing technique, i grew up learning to type on my own (never took typing classes or anything) on a laptop and I always typed with a few fingers like 3-4 and I type around high 80s to 90s and people say I type fast (my friends type pretty slow or slower). If I change how I type and how many fingers I type, I know I could type faster up to 100 or more. Gonna be mentally challenging though as I'd have to change where my fingers go lol
I cant type that fast on a regular keyboard cause im not familiar with it but and can type this without even looking at the letters on my phone is that bad?
Did you know that I do not use the home row to type I just lift up my hands and when I see those words I just somehow type those words correct like memorising digits of pi.
Bro if I had 130 wpm then that’s just op. As a student I regularly have 500-1000 word essays and it’ll no longer be a hassle cuz then I can make it in 5-10min
if i ever really wanted to buy a soft keyboard. This is what id use it for. I average 140-150 on monkeytype 15 second tests and even now typing slowly my keyboard is loud and looks like my fingers are moving at lightning speed. But on a soft keyboard you can really show people how easy it is.
When in sixth grade we took typing tests to start to teach all of us how to type. That was when I learned I may be above average at typing since I had 120wpm on its tests roundabout. Now averaging 160! 👍
i type very unorthodox bringing my thumbs up to press keys and still average 140 for 60s, i have never really specifically tried to type faster but I think because of the way i type i'm hard capped under 150
i can easily type this fast when writing coherent sentences in a conversation on discord for example, but on those writing "tests" that just give you random words and you need to rewrite them like the one in the video, i doubt i could go even half that speed
school chromebooks are built diff though, the chromebook keys are faster than my mechanical keyboard to the point where I got 170 w/ 100% accuracy on monkeytype once 💀
