    While I see your point I would also argue that “complaining” about density of trees in a game that literally models the entire planet is pretty absurd.

    I haven't flown IRL for many years but I haven't forgotten how it looks and feels. I have to say though, FS2020 can seem pretty realistic at times. The flight instruments are accurate enough that you can actually fly IMC all the way to the runway in zero visibility chasing the needles. Although you can't "feel the airplane" like you can IRL, its still a good simulation of using instruments in bad conditions. Its also very challenging and satisfying to do. I don't own FS2024 yet but from what I can tell it seems to be geared more towards gaming.

    • @barthvapour

      If FS2024 was working properly, you would be able to do exactly the same in free flight as you can in FS2020. The problem is: right now, it isn't. Many planes have bugs in the instruments and avionics. When these bugs are eventually fixed, then there shouldn't be any functionality that FS2020 has which FS2024 doesn't.
      As to comparison of ground realism between the two, it depends where you're flying, and the lighting conditions. In FS2020, this part of south Australia we see here is much less colour saturated and looks more real in direct sunlight. Whereas Sussex, where I live, looks much more realistic in overcast conditions in FS2024 than in FS2020.

    i think its the best flight sim we have and as far as some bugs and other issues i think ASOBO will sort it out soon otherwise with the new efb and a330 3d ground textures excellent night lighting and a lot of other improvements from 2020 this sim will be the future for flight simming

    It took 2020 time and lots of patches before it became what it was. I suspect 2024 will be similar. As far as the maps/mapping - unless the airfields are specially crafted, you are stuck with what Bing maps scanned so the map detail may be a few years old which may affect the scenery. I tried career mode...not huge fan. Not being able to have live weather on simple sightseeing flights takes the realism away (OK...if the weather is crap you probably don't want take passengers up - but at least give us the choice). I have always enjoyed neofly and continue to use it. As far as immersion, I cannot fly if I'm not in VR. You mentioned feeling bumps as you taxi....have you thought/tried haptic feedback, for example Buttkicker. There is software avail for it that you can tune pretty much all aspects of a plane and if you're a real pilot (I'm not) you can tune it to feel like the plane you fly.

    24 definitely didnt come out as polished as we all hoped. But cant forget, 2020 didnt either. With the marketplace open as you said i think it will improve, the rest is up to asobo. They delivered in 2020, i just hope it doesnt take 4 years ha.

      Exactly...people are acting shocked as if this wasn't exactly what happened with 2020. I deliberately didn't purchase 2024 right away because I knew this was going to happen. Just like 2020, this will become an excellent sim in time.

  • @crackerbarrel6965

    A simulator that involves pulling pitot and engine covers off a commercial airliner during a preflight walk around? That’s what they call realistic? No. It’s a game.

  •  11 дней назад

    I used 2024 but got tired of the bugs and CTDs. I just want to enjoy a simming experience, so I will keep using 2020 until 2024 is finished and try again.

    It's a flight simulator, not an earth simulator. The flight planner and charts are great. However, we also need VFR charts with moving maps. 2020 is history for me just like 3.1 and every version since.

    • @flightfix
      @flightfix  16 дней назад

      Native VFR charts would be nice. I use OzRunways (could do the same with Foreflight) with the xmapsy plugin to have full live access to all VFR charts on my iPad, but subscription costs are a bit extreme if you were only using these in the sim.

  • @CobaltAlphaOne
    @CobaltAlphaOne 14 дней назад

    To me, the variability in air movement is not even close to right. Sure, you have calm days but it's not every day. Wind moves and swirls constantly. Even on a light wind day is 050 at 5, it'll vary from 020 to 090 between 2 and 8 knots. Higher wind makes even more variation. That's where pilot skill comes into play. Constant correction. And the wind in clouds barely even exists in the sim. To me it's the weakest part of the sim. And you're right about the terrain on the airport. In general, it should be fairly smooth and even inside the fence.

  • @donwtsn

    I think the visuals are like that because they like to make the game feel more appealing. People like bright vivid colours, even if its not realistic. Its a shame.
    I guess you could try and add shaders and filters to help alleviate it but those runways still stick out like a saw thumb.

    • @flightfix

  • @GoingVroom
    @GoingVroom 15 дней назад

    The thing that MSFS 2020 did was make VFR flight simming a reality, especially with the addition of VR. MSFS2024 takes it one step further as the VFR graphics are a decent step up from 2020. IFR on the other hand is about the same. IMC weather is better in 2024 which helps with working to find runways when flying to minimums or working on navigating storm systems which is stuff I do IRL. I fly in VR and the performance and image quality is a huge step up over MS2020 thanks to multithreaded improvements. The only bugs I have that irritate me is the mouse showing up in front of me in VR and the mouse breaking all together, which breaks the immersion. When it all works though, you can get lost for days inside VR with 2024. I'm hopeful they'll fix bugs and this will be the new standard when it comes to simming.

  • @raymondgoubet

    FS2024 has huge potential. Physics are better than FS2020, and I like the precision landing challenges, even tough being as smooth as possible is artificial, the rules are the same for all. Of course, some bugs are annoying, and this shows it is an unfinished product. What I like with some quirks and bugs is, it puts us in some fault situation where we can often say "this should not happen", but if I try, it's like some failure training. Like the Akureiry landing challenge for me starts with the A320 overspeeding, and screens in the cockpit not working! But with effort, I can land... It helps discover MYSELF. It's like when a crazy failure happens in real life, we can't say "this should not happen!", we have to deal with it. But thinking about all that could go wrong, a lot of things work. They just rushed FS2024 too much. They need completer-finishers to polish it...

These are silly bugs that really should be ironed out by now. I was flying over Chernobyl with it and the sarcophagus is laughable. It's a flat building about 1 story high. The whole plant looks nothing like it does IRL. And they have smoke coming out of the smoke stacks and cars driving around like a populated city, lol. Someone should tell them

    All the way back in FSX there was a great little list of missions that I ran over and over again hoping that Microsoft would expand on it. Then came 2020 and the missions were gone. 2024 is now an RPG expansion of FS economy. I would not say 2024 is a simulator. It's just a bigger game.

  • @SIM3PAUL
    @SIM3PAUL 13 дней назад

    MS knows more people have capable consoles than capable PCs to sell their game (and even more so, sell their live subscriptions). MSFS 2024 is just a money grab aimed at console players. I've never heard a PC gamer/SIMer complain about having to add storage or the quick load times when everything is locally stored. The practice and intent of hosting nearly all data on a cloud delivery model only supports my claim as consoles do not have the storage expandability options as PC. It's MSFS 2026 Beta and feels like a complete scam. They still have a number of issues to resolve with MSFS 2020, but instead of fixing those they release a half-baked new version at a premium price with many things untested.

    Its unfortunate that it seems MSFS is shifting direction toward “gaming”, instead of away from it. We didnt need a walking sim. We didnt need migrating animals. We didnt need forced walk around to remove covers that DO NOT exist IRL for airliners etc. We didnt need ridiculously overdone robotic voices in required training missions.
    This sim has so much potential, but they are simply focused on the wrong things

    I'll give FS2024 one thing, for a "flight simulator", it sure does an awesome job of simulating giraffes and deer. The truth is MSFS2024 is an utter bug-ridden disgrace. From the disastrous launch, when they should have known about server loads, to the hundreds and hundreds of bugs in the program. Airports missing terminals, entire airports missing, aircraft with wings missing, avatars hanging upside down out of flying aircraft, blurry terrain, CTDs etc etc. It's utterly pathetic. They rushed it out and they knew it wasn't ready. It's going to take at least a full year before it's even close to fixed, if ever. If you're wondering who the beta testers are, it's the people who bought this joke of a program. I got a refund as I won't reward their incompetence and I won't pay for the privilege of being a beta-tester.
