The excellence in this video unlike most of what's out there is this.... Trading videos make it look easy, this video however highlights the reality of trading and the true difficulties traders will encounter. I hope your mentor comes back and can show more of these truly valuable insights to how trading for real actually is. Well done Cam for bringing this reality to the forefront.
Great vid Cam. I tested the strategy, and then coded an EA for it. I get about 52% win rate but the P&L is in negative for June on UJ 5m. I think it needs a bit more filtering or tweaking before trading it live imo. There are outliers that can skew the stats, s.a. news candles, some may give large profit but most do not hit TP. I think a BE element can be added as well as adjusting SL after say 20 pips in profit. Anyway, interesting strategy, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing this Cam. Really interesting to see you in the student's chair! It looks easy to follow on paper but in real time it must be tough when the price is moving quickly. Did you also have trouble with the ATR flickering above & below the threshold when you were getting ready to pull the trigger?

@@TradingNut thank you, however I have backtested this strategy in many different days and times in UJ mainly and it is definitely not working well I found the best results in asian session and new york PM session but I actually thought of another similar way of using this colour change idea my modifications are: - UJ 5 min chart - short ABOVE 20EMA, long BELOW 20EMA (I know that sounds counterintuitive but yeah) - for every colour change, if the volume is higher than the one of the prior bar, enter the trade - TP is the 20EMA, SL is half the size of the TP - make sure the SL includes AT LEAST the candle of the colour change itself; if it doesn't, extend the SL to the low/high of said candle and make TP 2 times the SL let me know if you give this a look! I have backtested a few days of this and it's smooooth

ATR wasn't the issue. Volume was because it could come in at the very end of the candle.

you can use a custom fib retracement where u have the 0 0.75 1 levels. you put that fib on the candle and you can see if the candle is strong or not

I like these kinds of strategies, can be truly mechanical / coded. Are you restricting your trade hours to any specific sessions / time-windows?
Asia and London, when I could. No exact windows. i coded this in 1 hour after the week ended lol - it does work
