I would come in from playing Army, Tonka trucks, or Hot-Wheels and my parents in the early 1970's would have this playing out of their Bose speakers spinning on a 33. What a great time to be an American!

Dude I had the Blue dump truck Tonka Truck that the bed that actually raised up and dumped dirt 😁! I had a Hot wheels cars case full of cars 😊. Mom would buy me one once a week. My older sister was getting a new 45 record every week and playing with her hula hoop, My younger brother had that robot from that show "Lost in space" that said "DANGER, DANGER! My father was always getting pissed off every time he stepped on one of my Tinker Toys pieces 😂. Then we had those "Hey, You knocked my Block OFF 😧! ROCKEM SOCKEM ROBOTS 😂 Dad and I played with that until my mom would say "OK it's time to put that thing up for a day 🤨". My dad and I were like Whaaaat 😧? Just 5 more minutes please 🙄. 😂 Such wonderful memories 😊. My father was in the army and we were in Germany the first time I had heard of Tommy James and the Shandels. I was in the 3rd grade. The song "Sweet Cherry Whine" was popular with the teenagers 😊

Tommy James is the songwriter too few of my generation are aware of, and it breaks my heart almost as much as his lack of tour dates near me on the west coast. I would love to thank him for his underrated level of contribution to music as a whole- pop music wouldn't be what it is without him! What a national treasure.

How is it that Tommy James is not in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame? How could they possibly overlook someone this great who has been eligible since the Hall opened? A few years ago, after they inducted The Zombies, they said that they were complete with the 60's artists. Maybe if he'd have learned to rap, he'd be in there now. Anyway, from what I understand, there is a groundswell of pressure on the hall now to induct Tommy and The Shondells. Hopefully, it is successful but, these days, the RRHOF doesn't even know what rock and roll is.

I have all that Edelbrock intake manifold with four barrel carburetor and chrome valve covers. All original even has the AM radio in it 😂. I built a small console with a radio/CD player in it. According to Tommy James this song was born when someone put the reel-to-reel of "I think we're Alone Now" on upside down-- so it played backwards, and they heard the chord progression in reverse... .

С хитом Hanky Panky ознакомил СССР венгерский певец Янош Коош. Песня вошла в диск-гигант Яноша Кооша, выпущенный в Союзе в 1970 году после его феноменальных гастролей.
