Yea I'm always impressed with new car stuff. Like out in the woods is the most likely place for a sensor to be damaged, so let's make it disable the most important things to help you get out of there. Lol.
That was total madness. Inches from the edge of a drop off and the ground is sliding out from under the tires, while Rory is calm, cool, and collected. Nice recovery.
This kid wouldn't have been so calm. I puckered watching from the comfort of my lounge. Anyone that tries to say that's not a show of pure skill and experience has has issues..
I am a Great grandmother 80 years old and your show is my favorite one to watch on RUclips.. I keep my heart pumping and my blood flowing.. I just told my son-in-law he needs to watch you on RUclips
"Hey Rory, what'd you do today?" "I had to recover a 747 at the bottom of Chicken Corners, he had a busted steering knuckle. Then I had to swing all the way around to Pritchett Canyon to yank a nuclear attack submarine out of Rocker Knocker. Some kinda tourist, he spoke mostly Russian"
This video has it all. Change of underwear, a locked truck, duct tape and sockets in the brakes, a shovel… well a broken shovel, a skid ramp and absolute maddens of the hamburger hill. I wanted to see hamburger hill so i started at chicken corners start and gave up like a quarter mile in. My tacoma’s health was not worth the risk and i was coming from the easy way. These guys took a loaded tacoma down the difficult end and required your services. Lesson learned in the most painful way possible. Between towing and recovering twice and parts to moab… geee… thats one expensive trip to never get where they were going. So cool to see you mcgyver on the fly.
I'm sorry Rory if you get tired of hearing this from me on every single video lol, but DAMN you are ONE TALENTED driver and spotter! Love seeing Lilli w/ you on recoveries too, she's so sweet.
Mate that mobile steam roller aka trail mater is a total beast all I can think though is your that guy people call when they can't get it to start move or free that rocks up and just whispers to the truck or whatever and it basically rolls over asking for belly scratches to say I'm impressed doesnt cover it awesome work great seeing Lily out with you keep it up 😁🇦🇺
Watching Trail Mater tow a Rig through areas that Rigs break going through alone is awesome , before watching these videos I would have said No Way anyone could do this ! you made Trail Mater into one heck of a Rig and prove it can be done time after time and without breaking , and the camera work was awesome too ! thanks for taking us along for the ride
Oh, 'Mater breaks once in a while. But Rory can fix it, and still get him and the client out. Loved his explanation of why he runs leaf springs, on the video where he broke the driver's rear spring. He has the parts and tools to fix it good enough to drive out at a normal pace. Not so easy when coil-overs break.
@@hondolane3125 In one of Rory's commentaries, he mentioned that he prefers his "over-load air bags" with leaf springs to coil-overs, because he always has a back up if one or the other breaks on a trail. The coil-overs are a good system on "over the road" vehicles but when you're out in the sticks they aren't durable enough.
You could give 95% of us a rig even more capable than the Trailmater and we still wouldn't be able to do a 10th of what Rory can do. There just aren't many people with that level of skill, knowledge and ingenuity out there.
What an amazing job! That rain made those trails treacherous so people need to be afraid. :) Thank you for sharing that its not always sunshine in Utah, and that everybody can get locked out of their cars. Maybe Rory should make a "build-series" where he produces and talks about custom tools that might be handy to do rescues in harsh environments. The Caliper-spacer is a good idea. And maybe some thing to "melt-together" a skid-plate-assembly, to use parts on the TrailMater. Maybe also something to compress the suspension on RockCrawlers, so it is easier to avoid rubbing the ground while towing the Crawler out along a trail. And thank you for putting dad and Lilli first, by dropping filming the next day :)
I don’t say a lot of comments normally but I’ve been on those trails and know how hard they are. To have someone like yourself that can make a living and help others get rescued is an awesome thing. Thanks for sharing.
If I was in Moab, stuck and broken and saw Trail Mater coming along, I would know everything would be OK. Rory just deals with the issues and makes good decisions on how to rectify the issues. Trail Mater and Rory are a perfect matchup. Great seeing Lilly also.,
Damn that was hairy all the way around. I love that the guy built the truck to wheel it, but if you are doing the hard or even moderate trails by yourself you gotta carry spares, especially CV axles. Life is a learning experience.
"Holly Chit" is right !!! There's no way anyone would have survived going over that edge, literally *JUST 1 INCH* !!!😮😮 Woo... love getting that survival rush 😜👍 Your video guy was perfect and so was the editing !!! Really enjoyed the watch, Thx !!!👍👍
Well MacGyver, that is being very creative to get the truck moved down the trail 👍👍 You take up too much room if you aren't on the edge, you didn't take up much room when that Toyota knocked all the rocks off the edge 😱🫣 Nicely done 👍👍
I can’t wait to wait the build on Robby Laytons madel a2 ford wrecker they thing is going to be so unique and I believe you will gain so many followers from that content because so many people all are going to fall in love with first sight and gonna want to know all about it then they will find towmater and be hooked! Thanks for all you give Us I love your kind of content because you show the actual how tos on getting your self out of a bind in so many different ways lol
And to think ~ Rory and Company did their Own Stunts on this recovery. Trail Mater had no Double either. All came out without a scratch except for white truck at end. Great video and what a trail to crawl over. . . WOW.
Watching you do these recoveries with actual planning and respect to your gear is so refreshing compared to other recoveries, great work and safe recoveries
Man I hate heights and ledges you got Huge I mean Huge Ball Bearings!!!! Every time I see you drive on ledges my knees get weak and my heart rate sky rockets!!!
Your daughter seems like a very interesting little girl. Not only is she fearless she is able to entertain herself while you’re handling your recoveries. You also have a great crew. Rory, you are very lucky.
Taught that skid for the wheels replacement in 1975 as a part of driving course in the army, as had to be totally the driver's responsibility for recovery, 😊.
Rory, you make the best videos. No 'Yankum" rope is going to work in your video's. These videos keep me in suspense the entire time and occasionally I scream out a few words that makes the rest of the house think I'm watching a horror flick. Thanks for sharing.
I truly enjoy watching 'somebody else' do the sort of stuff that I've had to do for my buddies to get a rig with only 3 wheels, or one driveshaft, or an axle housing that's not even attached, or no steering to a good enough place to park overnight until we could go get some more parts to put our junk back together. Great Show!!!!
TRAIL MATER ...very professional...super good driver...the mechanical repair service is outstanding...very good at the type of work he does...from COSTA RICA a hug.
Rory , thanks for the videos ! In my humble opinion I think a University should award you an honorary Master of Engineering Degree . Your design of Trail Mater and the skill which you operate it is amazing to watch .
Rory’s Honorary Degree is that he gets to put another entry in the “accounts receivable” ledger of his business … but yeah a number of universities would give him credit for his life experience … in exchange for tuition/ or donation … Maybe Google will make Rory one of their Certificate Programs Namesake … seams appropriate?! No?!
Kane Creek looks like a good place to be from and not go to. Some of the angles you put your recovery rigs in just to get there and then hook up to another vehicle and pull them out with rain coming down was white knuckle video watching hard to believe. Sum total of skills Rory has made this possible.
The Cane Creek rescue was so impressive. Rory used a loading ramp from a trailer and Flatnose shovel for a skid Ski on the front wheel that was missing broken off. This guy is a one-man band! He can weld he can tow he can do what ever needs to be done with balls of steel. I thought he was gonna lose that Toyota off the edge edge of king creek. But he kept tires from spinning low gear no panic etc. etc. If I ever get into off I’m gonna get myself a dual rear. What happened to the dual track that you chopped off the end and fabricated a bumper and cargo plate while shortening the tail to help from dragging the end. I am totally impressed how you were able to fabricate that With all the bends and angles of the steel. The tail end of the new Dooley looks like a Batmobile.
I have worked out the Trail Mater motto at last. "The impossible we do straight away, miracles take a little longer." Great to see Lilly helping dad again. What a team.
Great video! As for no coverage the next day: your safety and not having to worry about the distraction of handling a video camera giving you the ability to ensure Lilli's wellbeing is far more important 🙏🙏🙏
That was a bad day to break down in the rain! But you got him to a place to repair him! The way to keep from getting locked out I always carry 2 sets of keys!
Another ssssweeeet recovery! Enjoying again my morning coffee! Great job guys! Not an easy one was, but you guys have mastered! Just about week ago😅 my keys felled in the car while just locking and having busy hands with stuff :)) it was necessary to go back home to pick up the spare keys ... but I learn a screw drive trick today :)). The end of the video gave me a good morning starting laugh when Rory says "...lock the door and shut it...never pull key out .. that's a bad thing to do 🤣"
Before you know it Lilly will be out doing her own recoveries she will have so much knowledge by time she's old enough to drive and as usual another awesome recovery I believe in your skills to recover anything and as always be safe 👍
Roy, your skill at driving in rough train is out of this world... The boy you pulled out doubted your skill... he like making his vehicle look cool... Yours works cool ! 😎 That is one capable machine...
Cool recovery, the wetness adds a whole other dimension to the difficulty. I got sick of locking my keys in so I removed the button, now I have to lock it with the key
"I can help you get up that hill a lot easier, IF the tires are attached!" quote of the day!!
I not sure people realize the the ingenuity this takes. And it just comes naturally to guys like this. Their brain works at a higher level than most.
Bad ABS sensor disables 4x4 and lockers. Genius new car engineering 👌😂
Ha-ha! I don't think the designers anticipated a 3 wheel ABS system...
