    Aye! Thank you. I've been planning to put my pc in my room, but my parents were worried that I would go to innaprotiate websites and or stay up too late. I could finally have what I wanted! Thank you.

    Thanks for the video! Can't believe you have to create a microsoft account for your kids just to use parental controls. Sooo annoying! Local accounts are so much better.

    I am planning to restrict my brother's screen time on his own laptop. Would I need to create a separate Windows administrator account to be able to restrict the screen time or can I do all of this through his own account? any tips/guidance would be hugely appreciated. Many thanks!

    Actually, Family Safety was great under Win 8.1, but Windows 10 has taken away much of the functionality.
    The other idea is to use a special parental control program. There are loads of them in the net, so you are free to chose, depending
    on the age of a child or on the seriousness of control, eg KidsWatch or Time Boss Pro...
    Additionally you get remote access to kids PC from your mobile, forced breaks, limitation internet sites by time and others

    Good post, thanks!
    But if your child has local account in Windows 10 - internal parental control does not work. Why? (on W7 all was Ok)
    Should I use others parental controls, eg Time Boss, Net Nanny or others?

    • @GCFLearnFree
      @GCFLearnFree  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately, we don't know why Windows 10 doesn't let you add parental controls to a local account. However, you could try creating a new family account in order to use the parental controls. Hope this helps!

    I have a question. So I’ve created a seperate login for a family member who would like to use my computer as well. The problem is, after creating this separate non admin account and login. The account is still able to access all of my documents, files, and apps. How do I create a separate login that won’t allow any documents to be seen across them?

    It seems that the only purpose of creating user accounts its so YOU can access your computer if your internet is not working.
    All users have full control of all files and programs and admin rights.
    Windows 10 its an open window to your private life...

    dear im really messed up with accounts in win10 hop u reply..
    i have 2acc on win10 both r administrator with microsoft acc and pin protected..
    problem: user files like documents and downloads all files r accessible from both acc how dose it possible and how to fully password protect and accounts???

    • @GCFLearnFree
      @GCFLearnFree  7 лет назад

      This is the normal behavior for admin accounts, as they are designed to be able to access everything. If you want to restrict someone’s privileges, that person should probably have a standard account. However, it may be possible to give users some extra privileges without having full admin privileges. You may find more help in this article: techgenix.com/ways-grant-elevated-privileges-windows/

    i want to prevent someone making a account on my computer, I've got a little brother that always downloading stuff to my computer, he ruined my last one I wont let it happen again. I've changed the password in like 90% sure he don't know it. when I got home today a user was added with his account. Is there a way to prevent this?

    • @GCFLearnFree
      @GCFLearnFree  5 лет назад

      The best way to prevent this is to make sure he doesn’t have administrative privileges. By default, the main account on the computer is an admin account, which can be used to create new accounts. If your brother’s account is an admin account (or if he has the login info for one of the admin accounts), he will be able to create new accounts. We recommend looking at the account settings and seeing which accounts are Standard and which ones are Admin, and making adjustments to the privileges as needed. Hope this helps!

      I think, that build-in parent control in Win 10 is far from perfection,
      so I’d recommend you to buy a separate programm with many features,
      for example K9 or Time Boss Pro.
      This programs have remote access to kids PC, forced breaks, grants,
      limitation internet sites by time and others...
