Just seen this video and loved it so subscribed. I have a 'postage pass' with the knitting network £19.99 for 12 months gives free delivery for 12 months, even if you only need 1 ball and its fast delivery as well. Love emu and papatya. Currently knitting with King Cole cherish that I bought on the 15% off day. Lots of reviews. A crochet and knitting fb group and outstanding customer service. I really can't fault it.

I have shopped with the knitting network for a few years now. They have deals weekly, if not more often. I love the emu yarn. It really is the softest. I will definitely be having a look at the other places you mentioned, I don't need any more yarn, though, but what's need got yo do with anything 😂

I love the little wool shop. but as of late ive found theyre out of stock alot of the colours that ive needed so i decided to apply for wholesale since i use a ton of yarn but you have to place a minimum amount,, so the first website is amazing!! will defiantly be ordering from them

Thank you for this the only places I normally can buy yarn is Poundland the range and hobbycraft it’s especially hard to find chenille yarn except in hobby craft and it’s quite expensive for big projecrs
Yes definitely agree especially as Chenille yarn is so popular right now. Happy to share hopefully it helps lots of people as times are hard but we still want to be able to have some things we enjoy 😊

I like some of the suggested online shops but my favourite is another UK based shop called Readicut.
They regularly have mystery boxes mostly containing 3kg of yarn and they are such a deal.
One deal I got was 27 x 100g balls of Hello Love for £40 inc postage. Hello Love is velvet yarn and doesn’t shed definitely another plus.
I was so pleased with it I bought another box!

New to your site - but very interested in what you have provided in this video, so have subscribed. I have used both Wool Warehouse and Wool Factory for yarn supplies over a number of years. Easy to use websites (I’m an IT idiot so need all the help I can get), wide selection of yarns to choose from; sale items are always worth looking at; quick delivery and good/helpful after sales service have been my experience.
Definitely all of the plus points above to those websites. I think cost is a massive issue at the moment for a lot of yarn crafters so definitely check the sales out. It's always a plus if they offer free postage over a certain amount too for me :) love to know what other content you'd be interested in? 🙂

I couldn’t agree more regarding the cost of yarn nowadays. What I find disappointing, especially with newer designers, is the use of 2, often 3 yarn types together to obtain results for their patterns. There is so seldom an alternative, single yarn weight, suggested which will provide good results. Having to buy these multiple yarns can be prohibitively expensive and put people, who would otherwise love to have a go, off.
I was taught to knit when I was about two - and haven’t really stopped “yarning”, in all senses of the word, ever since. But I’m approaching 70 now and find my hands are not as pliable any more, so I mostly knit smaller items for local charities, especially those that don’t take too much brain power. I’m always interested in what other people are creating, whether knitted or crocheted, for themselves or local charities and events which I can try out. A change of items being offered to different charities is useful, and hopefully continues to help them achieve their aims.
Currently, I’m working on a small batch of baby hats for our local ambulance station. They use them for babies who are actually born in the ambulance to keep their little heads warm until they get to the hospital. I try and do a couple of batches a year and these are great for using up small amounts from my stash.
I’m looking forward to your next video. But in the meantime, enjoy whatever you are creating.
I agree I think you should be able to design and make a project with one type or make of yarn not 3 or 4 and I agree it would put me off making the pattern too. When I design a pattern with a lot of colours even I'm conscious of the cost and always say just make it with your stash 🙂 I'm so impressed that you've been yarning for so long and so glad that it's a craft you've maintained. I think it's becoming "trendy" right now which is great but hopefully those people maintain the skill and don't just let it go 😊

In the UK, I always use the Wool Warehouse and Black Sheep Wools. Both websites are very good, their stock is very good and prices are good.
They complete and mail out orders very quickly, I have never had any problems with these companies
I'll definitely have a look at them. I've bought from black sheep wool at trade shows so know of them but never ordered online :)
@@CrocreatebySarah Definitely second Black Sheep Wools! They've got a lovely big yarn store in Manchester too if you're ever in the area.
As a beginner, I don't want to buy 10 balls at a time, and if I get to the point where I need 10 I only want to buy 10 not HAVE to buy 100.
Maybe a separate video for resale stock buyers would be handy?
I normally buy wool/yarn from my indoor market. However, the big problem I'm finding is they don't crochet well. I'm a lifelong knitter, learnt when I was 5, I'm now in my late 50's and wanted to explore the crochet side. The different well known brands are mainly so loosely spun that when I try to crochet with them for children's garments, they have absolutely no stitch definition at all. I have spent a small fortune on what has turned out to be useless. Even the ones that look ok to work with end up doing the same. Any help at all from anyone will be very welcome. Firstly thank you for your kind words 😊 I think a lot of people use cotton for child's garments. It's cool and hard wearing and it's a sustainable material. That said it generally is made up of several fibres. You can get mercerised cotton which fibres hold together better and it just makes the stitches pop because its mercerized I prefer it more to the regular cotton but of course it comes with a price tag. That said it lasts, you can wash it at 60 and it's great for children's skin as it's natural 😊 what brands are the ones you're using? There's an online yarn brand match if you type in the brand and substitute after the brand name it might come up with something similar that might work up better 🙂
Hi, thank you for replying so quickly. My market stall stocks mainly Stylecraft in various weights, Patons and a couple of which I can't recall. The Stlecraft Special DK was the latest I bought, which had the same problem. Idk if I'm just unlucky! One before that (both this last weekend) was same brand in Aron. Did the same. I did go to B&Ms yesterday tho and got a 250g of variegated Trimm Aron Premium Knitting Yarn for £5. Got it home, tried a fhdc and was like, WOW!! It is Beautiful! Only had 1 in lilac/pinkish which will be enough for my 6yro Granddaughter. Had few in blue/turquoise colour, just hope there's 1 left on Sat. Lol! Apart from those there's a very small selection which are chennile. I will have a look on those you recommended tho and see if I can find the Mango yellow my Grandson wants. Thank you again so much.

They do yes but I know a lot of people don't have a local yarn shop 😊 my local yarn shop is a big chain I don't have an independent to buy from I'm afraid 😔
two things i dont get is the weights for the yarns and which yarns to use for which project 😭 could someone plz explain i would like to learn everything i do gotta know before really getting into crocheting
So which yarns to use for which projects sometimes can be personal preference, for example a lot of people use cotton for amigurumi but also Chenille yarn and some like to use standard acrylic. As a general rule I'd say any clothing use natural fibres, summer clothing use cotton. Amigurumi really can be made from any yarn you like in my opinion. The weights of the yarns differ depending on what item you're making. If you're working from a wearable pattern always use the weight that's indicated in the pattern. If you use bulkier yarn to make something it will turn out bigger and equally if you use a lower weight yarn it will turn out smaller. So when making a non wearable and substituting yarn bear this in mind. You can find handy converters on Pinterest. DK is a standard middle of the line weight. Aran yarn is thicker than DK, chunky thicker than Aran. Sport weight is on the other end smaller in weight than DK, then lace which is smaller than sport. It's not the weight in the traditional sense it's how thin the yarn is which effects the finished product :) hope that's helped a little 😀

Hi, there is a lot of people out there that knit with acrylic as it's more accessible for people on a budget. I always make sure my videos are entitled 'yarn' to ensure I'm not click baiting anyone into thinking they're getting specific animal fibres. I'm so sorry you don't like acrylic yarn but there are sooooo many people out there that do 👍🏻
