      No! He did everyone a favor, I'm from Buffalo NY and I was lucky enough to see them one time, it was either the Aud where I saw Tim Horten and the French connection play or the new ice rink. But I did my homework before seeing the hip and was told it would be like a religious experience....and it was!

      @Music Matters ...it appears no one asked you for a nimble minded nasty opinion. But then there’s always the rude ones in the crowd 🥱... a few little shitz that peep in. No doubt you’re one that shoots your mouth off behind that keyboard all over sm 🤢 The fortitude, integrity, dedication, kindness, creativity, charity and community driven in the manner of which these five humans live by far outweigh and in no comparison to the some type of being you might claim to be. Run along and listen to yer favourites. Bet that one goes over your head also. Seriously, you don’t belong here if you’re not a 30-year fan and an ‘old’ Canadian ...omfg 😂.

    Pretty awesome Gord interacting with the kid at 27:00 min and then signing an autograph for him on his canadian flag mid song at 38:15 before shakng his hand. Class act.

      I lived in Toronto's Riverdale neighbourhood not far from where Gord lives. A local hobo told me that Gord had walked up to him once and given him a hundred-dollar bill. Truly, a class act, and Canada's real poet laureate-- c'mon guys, let's start a petition to get Gord the position before he's lost to us.

    • @douglasdog1
      @douglasdog1 8 лет назад +9

      +Paul Snider The stories about him coming out of the woodwork since his diagnosis are truly heartwarming. The music is what he does, his humanity is what makes him great. A guy I worked with used to be a security guard for concerts. He worked backstage at a Hip show and some people came back saying the guitarist invited them but they didn't have passes. He couldn't let them in because they had no proof. The guitarist (not sure which one, he wasn't familiar with the hip) came out and tore a strip off him because he wouldn't let these people in. Gord heard this and grabbed the guitarist and the people into the dressing room. 10 minutes later the guitarist came out and apologized to my buddy, then Gord poked his head out saying "everything cool here now? Did you apologize? Sorry about that buddy"

For the techies we used a Yamaha PM 3000 for front of house with a 14 box Meyer Sound rig. The outer boxes, I built for Helix to use on one of their Texas tours.

    Wow, absolutely stunning quality especially given it was recorded on whatever video camera someone had in 1989. Hats off to whoever was mixing them live back then as well, GREAT mix. And great job Darrin putting this all together, thanks man. Very well done.

    My brother told me today that we were at this concert so I had to see if it was on RUclips...and Lo and behold here it is. I have no memory of this at all but I saw my brother at least once.

    From Buffalo NY🇺🇲, I've got tears in my eyes. Incredible to see this. I didn't discover them until Road Apples. I was living in Florida up til 1991. Saw them at The Aud 4/29/95. Man this is soooo cool!

    Wow, just noticed that Gordie was a southpaw....very cool. Further explains why he was such an immense talent. Rock on to Das Hip!

    There are no words. Probably the most loved band in history based on pure passionately sincere caring for them as almost family. I worry about Gordie everyday and ive never even met him. Seen them play numerous times luckily but im just so saddened that we'll never hear another album from the Hip. Or see his crazy antics onstage. He is something otherworldly. Thank you Gordie, Gord, Johnny, Rob and Paul. For bring such a huge part of my life since Smalltown Bringdown smacked in the face.

    What a great version of Opiated!! I remember seeing the Hip at the turn of the century in Cape Breton. I believe it was the World Container Tour. For whatever reason there was only like 700 people there (it was a dreary winter day but come on!! it's the HIP!!!) They played as if there was 17,000. Solid 2 1/2 hr set. 4 encores. It was like we got them in for a house party. Awesome video. Thanks.
