Biography
Following the death of Paul Kossoff after the recording of the second Back Street Crawler album 2nd Street the remaining members of the band recruited Geoff Whitehorn and dropped the 'Back Street' from their name becoming simply Crawler. Dropped almost immediately by Atlantic they recorded two albums for CBS/Epic Crawler in 1977 and Snake Rattle & Roll in 1978. They achieved minor success with the single 'Stone Cold Sober' which was played regularly by FM radio but were never able to shake off the legacy of Paul Kossoff and they disbanded in the late seventies when John "Rabbit" Bundrick left to join The Who.
Terry Wilson now records and produces with his wife Teresa James. Braunagel also produces and has worked with Taj Mahal among others.

"Would you drive six and a half hours, each way, from noon 'til morning, without sleep, to see a concert? Evansville, Indiana hosted this band. I knew it would be the only opportunity to listen (and see) them live!
The band is tight, energetic, soulful and powerful. Strong vocals, melodic and bluesy, in tandem with brilliant guitar work, driven by a versatile keyboard and percussion rythmn section including a jazz influenced basist, showcase their many talents and skills.
If you have the opportunity to buy this particular album on vinyl (which is far superior in quality than other media ... do you want to hear the full range of pitch and depth?), do it! This is my choice for the best all-time album (and band) that never made it! "
rateyourmusic....
Saw them twice back in the late seventies, this and the second album "Snake Rattle and Roll" are amongst my son and I's favourite albums. Geoff Whitehorn an underated guitarist, Rabbit great keyboards, Terry Slessor Wilson brilliant vocals.
Great memories of growing up.
One of my favourite albums. One of the best that I have ever heard, in fact.
This is such a good album! One of the best of the late 70's. So tight- such good musicianship. They had it all; blues, soul, funk, roadhouse, and of course, good 'ol fashion rock & roll.
Nice, good solid 70's rock!🎸🥁🎤
Try " Barclay,James,Harvest"
Amazing band, amazing album. A true Treasure to behold! I bought this on its release in the seventies-loved it then and lovin it now in 2021!!!!
Love this band ... Got this Lp when it was released ... Never heard of them l got it because of the cool album cover
That voice.
yeah, the singer's truly very good.
TBD..... You have amazing and very eclectic taste in music.I don't know your age,but I'm 62 and have many of the same albums and CD's,going to have to unload to hopefully some younger folks that appreciate the music of my ggggeneration.
Keep up The Awesome Work Dear Maestro,
Peace,John
70's..so many good bands
Back in the day, I used to stumble upon this album in the record stores occasionally. But I never purchased it - I always ended up getting something else instead. Glad to finally hear it! Sounds great.
I picked this album up at a radio station album sale a few months ago having never heard of them and never listened to it until now. It's a promo copy with pristine vinyl and incredible sound. Might have been the first time it was ever played.
Good stuff.

Mm l mm m mm
Great LP with amazing sound & production. Still have my original copy.
Gift ! Thanks Brothers of the CLASSIC ROCK !!!! Sound , composition, CLASS !!! ............alex vitebsk Belarus 🎩 ✌
The lead singer had quite a voice. Sometimes like Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton. The first track reminiscent of Lou Gramm. The guitarist was pretty awesome. Great late 70s rock.
Great group. Now I've got to check out Back Street Crawler. I don't know them but if Paul Kossoff was in the band they have to sound good.
Killer LP
To Thomas Smith,
I got just a smattering of Leslie West snd Mountain out of this,we used to request " Stone Cold Sober " on Friday night working in Zeeland at Hermann Miller 2nd/ shift,on WLAV-FM "The Rocker"30 years ago or more.Stay young forever. Peace,
John

Amazing how much great stuff slipped through the cracks....
I've got the album on vynil !!! A lost jewel !!! I want to say that the bassist and the lead vocalist ARE NOT the same person !!! They only share the same name, that's why one of them (the vocalist) add the second surname (SLESSER). The band is a quintet. Greetings from Puebla,Pue., México.
😄😄😄
Excelente álbum possuo uma cópia em vinil ! Gosto mto do som!
One of the very few that on this channel that you can find and buy for a decent price.
happy new year!
Good stuff similar to Gamma and UFO
Great band and album! Just bought the original LP from Ebay, vinyl sound great on a good hifi system.. 💙✌Peace..
This is suberb band, ive known them now over one hour, awesome new gem for me
Chris Wood of the Traffic ? Geoff Whitehorn is brilliant guitar !
I have this vinyl, and seen them live in Edinburgh Scotland back in 70?, the tour was "boxer, crawler, moon", 3 bands, still have the ticket, good band

I saw geoff whitehorn play guitar for the roger chapman band at The Venue in victoria london 1980...

Lovely Stuff! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿✌🏿🤘🏿🤟🏿👌🏿👍🏿🤜🏿🤛🏿💜💜💜
Over all this is one of my favorites
Hehe , this album is closed to 50 years old , hehe ,yes l was listening to it back then
I'd like to hear these guys live, sitting right next to the speakers. I saw this album in the record shops and someone told me it was Heavy Metal, so I didn't bother with it. This sounds like real class.
Stone cold sober best track. Still have the album on Vynyl
Goooooooöd!
epa! qué buen sonido!!! lml
What a Jewel ?? ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Another album from that time zone worth checkin out was Herman Broods wild romance n the band Sea Level comes to mind😅
FYI Terry Wilson Slesser was the vocalist...and Terry Wilson was the bass player...2 different people, Thanks for uploading!
😄😄😄Happy New Year😃😃😃
The Lonely Rocker digs this kinda music!
not sure how you mixed this down but sounds way different than the original vinyl pressing. just a fantastic album. you would have no idea these guys were British. Sounds like they crawled out of the swamps of the South picking up a good dose of jazz and soul along the way.
Legal hein loko👏👏👏👏👏👏🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🎶🎶🎶😎😎😎🎼🎼🎼🎙🎙🎹🎹🎹🥁🥁🥁🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👊👊👊👍👍👍👍👍👍
cool!
Originally, as Back Street Crawler, led by Free guitarist Paul Kossoff, the father of AOR. Tragically gone way too soon, on a plane from NY to London. OD.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris Wood of Traffic?
Thebestdream..
Um clássico setentista.
Wowww delicious
This is after Paul Kossoff . This band used to be known as Backstreet Crawler . This is nothing like Judas Priest , nor is Crawler a mellower sound than Rocka Rolla . The singer has some similar tones , and phrasings to Rick Sanford of Legs Diamond , and the band is closer to Derringer and Traffic . To compare Crawler to Judas Priest makes about as much sense as comparing Pink Floyd to Metallica
Did not know that Paul kossof was in this band before he passed former guitarist for free
Kossoff had a solo album entitled ' Back Street Crawler' prior to forming the band. Vocaliet Terry slesser was in Beckett, a band that supported Free on tour. Sadly Slesser was with Koss when the former Free guitarist died on a transatlantic flight.
@@ArtbyJoeH thanks for the info it always makes the music so much more when you know the history of how it evolved
the cover looks like am early Whitesnake album lol
yeah, man! I saw that also, Arturo Almazan!
Definitely.
And sounds like Steve Mariott join Whitesnake after hearing Rocka Rolla.
@@lbarzi lol I know
Nope, THIS IS WAS FIRST!! clawler then whitesnake. Get it right ppl.✌️
Kind of reminds me of The Doors attempt to carry on after Morrison.
Came here cause it reminds me of the back street crawlers with late Paul Kossoff from Free. Not that bad i can say. It rocks.
Singer sounds like Paul Rodgers
Sounds like early Judas Priest but not as heavy.
You re crazy or dumb
run to buy some good ears
Early Judas Priest don t sound like this, what an heresy!?..
Ohhh nooo this band sounds nothing like early Judas Priest at all. I would say a slight bit like Budgie maybe, but not Priest. Priest has and will always be in a class of their own.
@ Matthew Voss :
The sounds of drums (mainly the snare drum) and guitars (at times) are indeed like Priest' "Rocka Rolla". "One For The Road", for instance... i got your point, Matthew. Happy new year. From Ukraine ;-)
@@vano758 You say bullshit...The sound of Budgie or Early Judas Priest
is completlely different...it s heavy metal prog bands.
Two lead guitars in Judas Priest and their music and thematic are nothing to see
with Crawler who is blues rock:Funk soul band very soft.
Run to buy some good ears and forget the music.
@@padovaniroland , go listen to Judas Priest first album "Rocka Rolla" and do not fuck me with your comments. I actually wasn't talking to you at all.
