Nigel, maybe consider planting this cedar over several rocks, creating a rocky cliff, and not just one rock. A Cedar on the Rocks, if you please! Sounds like a good drink!
Awesome addition to your collection! I also love how it is a locally inspired tree. You are really coming up with good and frequent additions these days. Thanks for the updates!
I remember the video from Rattlesnake Point. Great inspiration. The Cedar looks like it's heading in the right direction! I'm also looking forward to some more work on the Porsche 🏎
Watching you by that huge drop off in the beginning.. I don't believe I've ever experienced anxiety watching your videos, but that definitely did it :O
I've been at Rattlesnake Point for a short hike with my cousin who lived in the area. Still have a little red-ish pebble I found there, which I keep with my sugar maple seedling. :)
That's going to look fantastic! I look forward to seeing the ROR transformation. I love that you included the footage of Dave's visit because it adds context to the project. Thank you for sharing the inspiration !
Love to see your tree work accompanied with the extra work around your house. I would have liked to see you putting up your poly garage for the Porsche. We all struggle with little jobs like that and it makes you more like us - struggling all the time to enjoy ourselves!
Unveiling the roots from a pond basket is about as exiting as it gets for me. My 11 Dawn Redwoods will make their rootin’-tootin’ debut this spring. Thinking about the landscape. Can’t wait to see how yours meshes with the rocks.
That tree is so cool! I love how twisted it is! Need some of those concrete sidewalk blocks. Looks on local buy/sell sites for used ones, many times people want them gone and you only have to go get them yourself. Then you can park the car with the tires on them and have some for under jack stands when you pick the car up and take the tires off. So it won't sink in spring. Old sheets of plywood or press board would work too. Should be able to get some free. When Canadian Tire gets shipments. It comes with press board, 2X4s and pallets. Often the stores will give them to you for free to save money sending it to the dump. All my pallets and such are free from different places in the city and the surrounding towns. Only the blue ones you can not take. Machine and truck centers have really nice pallets. My nice small ones come form John Deere dealership. Sorry... I'll stop typing now...😇😅

*Writes Thuja on his tree shopping list* :D
Awesome work as always!
Even the hair on Nigel’s neck was standing up on some of those ledges!
Indeed Dave!!

Thanks, my wife and son put up the garage, I hardly helped at all.
Wow! That was a lot of work on this tree. Great job pruning. Cool trunk on it.
Thanks Tom!!!!👍
Can't wait to see what the roots look like in spring and see what it will look like on a rock. Great video Nigel thanks.

I think what you have there is a Thuja plicata
Foist
Noice one Scott!!!
where did you get baskets like what the cedar isin?
Those are pond plant baskets.
Rather then calling it your rattlesnake point style. Likely you should call it your root over rock style inspired by the trees at rattlesnake point.
Did you see that movie Don’t Look Up? Very poignant for todays treatment of the environment
Yes, I really liked it!!
