    If I were you I would look into possible ways of prevention. How about feed the fish one's every other day or 6 days on 1 day off. I also wondering about increasing the fiber intake of the fish or introducing a little bit of psyllium husk to they diet maybe they would go for it and that would help prevent the intestinal blockage.

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  5 лет назад +1

      Peter Csigo I feed peas once a week now & also skip feeding one day like you suggested. That seems to be helping & ive had no issues since👍🏻 this video/treatment was done a month or so ago. Just took a while to edit! Haha

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  5 лет назад +1

      Jackthemoo4 thanks👍🏻 I personally don’t no. I would either ask breeders on Instagram etc...see what they think, or there’s also a lot of Facebook groups for African cichlid hobbyists. You can post questions/photos to that page & see what members of the group think. They would be the two best options I know of mate

    I feed alot of frozen peas and add a teaspoon of Epsom salt to every gallon of water change water and I've never had bloat ever since... before I got bloat I've never used either so I'm a firm believer that peas and Epsom will keep bloat away but using as a cure ,that's another thing!!

      The Fishy Life ! Some good info. Thanks for sharing mate👍🏻 I usually feed pea’s the day before a water change. That way the fish get cleared out....& then the water change dilutes that extra waste you know. Seems to work well!

    Hey I hope someone sees this comment and can help me!
    I added a new cichlid to my tank so now there’s 2 total in there, my original cichlid was completely fine when I added the new fish to the tank then I went out for a couple of hours and when I came back home my original cichlid looked all bloated? He’s swimming around normally and doesn’t seem to be bothered about it, but what is happening ? I don’t know maybe he just looks bigger because the new fish is a bit smaller but I swear I don’t remember his stomach looking bloated ... 🧐

    • @haiaziii
      @haiaziii 4 года назад

      Also I haven’t fed him yet but he was eating fine yesterday! As soon as I saw the bloated stomach I didn’t try feeding at all.

    Due to overfeeding.

    • @cichlidscape
      @cichlidscape  5 лет назад

      DOFA not necessarily overfeeding. More due to high amounts of protein in food with these fish. Tough to control 16 fishes food intake when feeding flakes & pellets to them all at once. They’re are pigs when it comes to food. A fine line between feeding enough & “overfeeding” but thanks for watching & supporting the channel👍🏻

      @@cichlidscape Very true, after bred cichlids for 20yrs its best to keep them a bit on the hungry/starving side side, temp 26 as they grow better and very clean water. Awesome vid !!

      DOFA I can control the breeding tanks way easier but these show males in the big tank just go wild for food haha no controlling there & the amount they’ll eat if they see it early😂 glad you liked the video👍🏻
