Paul Johnson was a great coach. Tech will never get consistently highly rated players. Academically the school is hard to get in to and their facilities will always be subpar.
Great comments- right on point. The AD has to go also. Hire a young innovative AD first. Hopefully they can get a coach to ignite the fan base. I am a UGA grad - Dad went to Tech and I saw the glory days of Tech when UGA was down. Very sad as it has lost the old fans and younger ones don’t care.
Don’t know if he’d even be interested, but I thought Deion would be a good fit at Tech. He would be within driving distance of some of the most fertile recruiting ground in the country and the guy is still respected in the ATL for his exploits on the football field. He’s also charismatic and could probably get a lot of talent to sign....
Definitely could draw some atl athletes but is tech a major step up for him ? Guys already getting afleck commercials and nil deals for his kids. Stepping into tech and losing for e years would hurt primes brand
I'm a Tech Fan through and through and I agree with you. Tech needs to worry about being good again. When we first hired Collins I thought he would be the guy. The first 2 years I knew it would be difficult trying to transition from a triple option to a pro style offense, but we should have made improvements last year and this year, but no improvements and it seems like we have gotten worse. I'm glad he and Stansbury are gone and I'm hoping the school can make the right hires now. Good takes by you. Enjoyed the video!
Transitioning from Paul Johnson triple option shouldn't have been that hard to switch to an RPO offense,it takes similar blocking schemes just have to be able to pass block more and have a suitable quarterback who can actually RUN if that option presents itself and Pass when that option presents itself.you didn't have to completely remake the team, with the transfer portal and the covid extra year there is simply no reason why this offense and team should be in the spot they are in,all this could have been changed quickly ,look how fast Georgia Southern changed and best Nebraska with the fired USC coach Clay Helton.this was as similar as going from Paul Johnson was for tech.the right coach as you can clearly see could have fixed this in the following season upon his hir just like Helton did
Get Deion to revive this program. He would put a fort around Atlanta and could get enough kids to win 8 to 9 games yearly. Immediately put a spotlight on Tech . And it looks like he can actually coach.
If tech could have a dynamic offense style they could sign the flashy receivers and I think lane kiffen would be the first person I would contact if I was the AD
Some of us GT fans would like to hear what you have to say. Specifically fans of UGA that care about this rivalry. I’m desperate, we are desperate. And we can’t go back to the triple option. That was the nail in our coffin.
Triple option is what tech needs. We need a gimicky offense again with academics, NIL deals and tv deals. The landscape of cfb has changed- We need the coach from coastal Carolina
I'd say take the Tennessee approach and hire the AD and HC from the same school. It worked for them. First Combo that comes to mine is Ian McCaw and Hugh Freeze at Liberty.
I think they should have let him finish the season. They were clearly making progress except for a punter. Tech should have had at least 3 early easy opponents on their schedule like UGA then their record would be as good as UGA this year, but instead they have a very rough schedule this year. They should have saved the $3 million severance pay for hiring a new coach.
Not that I really care because I happen to like Georgia Tech being trash but it's absolutely and it's inexcusable in the ACC to be a college football team that's right in the prime epicenter of one of the greatest States for recruiting for high school football and for them to be so sorry, even if Georgia Tech only recruited the second and third tier recruits from the state of Georgia that would still be enough talent to keep them in the top 25 or at least make them competitive, it's hard to believe at one time Georgia Tech was actually a heated rifle to georgia, when for at least the last 8 years Georgia has absolutely dominated Georgia tech, hasn't even been close in every game has been a blowout, it's hard to believe a big name coach would actually want to go to Georgia Tech with what he would be inheriting and what he has to work with, it's a college that absolutely puts no money into the football program, and it's embarrassing in the state of Georgia that actually write down the street that Georgia State University has only had a football program less than 10 years and in recent times they have been more competitive than Georgia Tech, it's pathetic
He's trying to not hurt our feelings, and be a nice, friendly Georgia fan which is nice because he knows that we know how bad we are. We know that some other Georgia fans would go on camera, and just lay it on us. 💣
I am 100 percent a bulldog fan but when Ga tech won the co national championship with Colorado buffaloes I rooted for Ga tech against Georgia and ga tech won then I rooted for Ga tech and they beat Nebraska corn huskers and won the co National Championship .

Never been a trash talk kind of person. Even when Tech was the dominant team. It use to be a great rivalry. Great for both sides. It should be again. A yearly contender, no. But the top 10 teams, undefeated or number 1 teams being nervous to play you, and even lose to you, yes.

Not saying that Tech should offer basket weaving classes or anything but to expect college football kids to be proficient in calculus and physics is a real tough ask.
Poor Tech. They should have NEVER hired Paul Johnson. It killed recruiting right at the time when the SEC was separating itself from the ACC. Now the Jackets will need a miraculous hire like a Deion Sanders to get this ship turned around.
Deion is an easy hire. But, an awful fire. Paul Johnson was the last best coach they had. I always wondered what Paul Johnson’s tenure would’ve been with a great defense to go along with his offenses.
Completely disagree. When you're a smaller school, the football budget is minimal, you can't compete in the recruiting game, the triple option is the great equalizer. The service academies take much the same approach. CPJ was the master. Several of his guys are playing on Sunday.
They have him no resources. Paul is the 4th best in tech history bar none. two of those are heisman & Dodd which are really not comparable in these modern times
Collins had a 0% win percentage vs teams with a winning record. CPJ up and down was still better than Chan. Nobody expects us to be UGA; I’d like to get back to 6-6 and bowl eligible lol

He should have been fired after last seasons Georgia game! And whoever they name as interim coach, it's still a lost season! They want win another game this year!
Brother I hate to tell you this but if PrimeTime Sanders takes that job then I bet you within 5 years Georgia will look like Tech now 😂. There isn’t one college football coach in todays game that’s out recruiting him if he takes a big job. Every Dawg fan should be praying that Sanders doesn’t even consider that job bc if he does then you can wash your consistent recruiting down the drain. I’m not saying you’ll be terrible but you won’t be better than Georgia Tech. However the chances of Sanders taking that job is slim to none considering he has expressed his visions for HBCU.
Tech will always be tarnished by the triple option…I don’t get all the hype with “coach prime”…I’d rather Tech be competitive than be an embarrassment to the state of GA. The whole, “we’re smarter than you” thing is another laughable matter. I’ll leave it at that 😂
Disagree..the triple option was always a thing of beauty. It also was a perfect offense to give the always less talented team a fighting chance to win any game.
Geoff Collins can buy a chain of waffle houses with 11.3 mil!! LOL I said Deon Sanders because of his atlanta connections! Us as uga fans really don't want that because of his name alone he will stack a roster with elite players! He took the #1 iplayer in the country from collins hill in Travis Hunter at an Hbcu school.Just imagine what he could recruit out of the atlanta metro area! Kirby will get his because he is a proven developer of talent. That doesn't worry me ,could anybody with a brain imagine what Ga tech could become with Prime as there coach!! Paul Johnson was a great coach. Tech will never get consistently highly rated players. Academically the school is hard to get in to and their facilities will always be subpar.
Not true. Tech could (with the right hire) get back to a George O'Leary type of program, and that would be a damn good, and damn fun to watch.
