Yong here again. I do see what you're saying. I was thinking more in the line of buying a Acura TLX vs BMW 3 series. BMW 3 series more expensive but some people like the BMW more even though both cars are supposedly luxury sedan. Now if both headphones are identical in quality, then you're absolutely right although from the blind test, there was a difference. You should go check out both and see if the difference is worth it.
@@TheBlindGuys I've had similar issues to this before, that's why 150 bucks is a massive difference. 50 is fine IMHO, but 150. Did you guys specify which device you connected to? I think that the platform matters a lot more in this case. Apple's got the processing and codec to make their headphones sounds much better than others.
Charles here. Value will always be subjective and Dan seemed to lean towards the Pandas while Dave and Yong leaned APM. We like having the different opinions from 3 different people. For me, the build quality of the APM was a real big factor. It feels like $550 while the Pandas were just like all the other plastic headphones. Regarding the sources, we connected the Pandas to a Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and the APM to an iPad Pro.
Guys, good stuff as usual. I think you guys should mix up the "A" and "B'" labels as you're going through the blind test, just to eliminate any bias at all.
Appreciate the support. Definitely a valid point but some people were getting confused when we switched A and B for each test so we kept A and B the same for simplicity from our end and the viewers end.
Bonus Tip. On iPhone with airpods max, go into settings and turn on headphones accomodations, it turns it up a notch even more. It’s in Accessibility>airpods>audio accessibility settings.

You Guys are Hilarious, what a fresh spin on reviews I loved it, I am considering on adding the Drop Panda THX to my headphone collection purely for the sound details (LDAC) they produce. I own the APM's (No LDAC) and I love them but, I like to listen to many genres of music and let's face it all headphones sound a little different. So it boils down to the individual preference. I really enjoyed the video but I saw the comment that you tested the Airpods Max on and iPhone while you tested the Pandas with a galaxy. I completely understand giving both the best possible chances but I feel like it should be said upfront that this was done and that the Airpods won't sound as good if using and android. I know that most people would probably know this but some might not and they might be somewhat misled.
That's a good point. We thought people would know that you lose 1/3 features by pairing with a non apple device! But yeah yikes on the lack of codecs on the APM!!

When I watched a movie on an iPad Pro with APM for the first time I was blown away. The base can be a bit low sometimes for electronic music but it’s so damn clear. I bought them at sale and honestly miss them when I don’t have them around. That said the AirPod pro gets used a lot more for me, gum, busses etc. best sound I’ve had in headphones, previously had b&o h9, but that anc was horrible in terms of pressure.
Great review man. You can try some budget Audiophile headphones like sennheiser hd58x, akg361 or philips Shp9500 . I think those gonna sound better than any Bluetooth headphones, please review them. By the way enjoy your blind test a lot🔥🔥🔥.
Great video! What streaming services are you using? I’ve heard from other reviewers the APM sound noticeably better when using Apple Music which is the very Apple thing to do lol
If someone say that APM are hella expensive… we’ll their right but if u like to play in PS o XBOX let me tell you that the APM sounds much better than any “gaming headset”… so my point is that u could see more value if u use the APM for everything, for your gaming sessions and then go to the mall or something, pretty versatile in a “luxury finish”.
Nice video guys. I love the argument made about value versus price. AirPods Max are not cheap but I love how they fit into my ecosystem of existing Apple products and the fact that they are premium all round: build, sound quality, usability.
Charles here. We used the best available codecs for the headphones, LDAC on a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra for the Pandas and AAC on the iPad Pro for the APM.
@@TheBlindGuys Hi Yong. I'd be totally into seeing that video. I've used both headphones and for my part the Pandas post SoundID leave all other closed back BT headphones in the dust. I'm sure part of that is that each user is calibrating the SoundID profile individually. The app A/B tests the listener's preferences (similar to how eye tests are done) before locking in the profile that gets uploaded to the Pandas. So you are getting a uniquely "relative" listening experience tailored to the ears that tuned them. It would be fascinating to see the same three guys create their own profiles and redo the comparison. The biggest difference between the Pandas and the Airpods is that one has that incredible level of programmable flexibility.
Yong here. I know it's hard to sit and watch a 11 minute video but if you watch the entire video, you'll see A and B were not always the same and the results are clear :)
Dan here - if we kept switching what headphone was A and which was B, it would make for an incredibly complex setup for us and also result in a very complex video that I think would confuse People watching too

@@TheBlindGuys No worry man. English is not my native language, so I may have confused you. In terms of test, scientifically speaking is better to switch what product is A or B during the test, to not induce the participants. ;)
You guys totally have to try the LDAC 990 Audeze Mobius which destroys both of these but looks a bit uglier. The Ananda BT is also the highest end Bluetooth true audiophile headphones but it costs double
@@TheBlindGuys i can ship mine sometime I you would like but hopefully Audeze will help you out. Just returned my pandas, senn tw2, xm4, nc700, momentum3, for the Mobius which blows them away. You should feel the planar bass slam yet they are also the clearest by a long shot especially compared to the production version of the pandas. The preproduction Pandas seem to have been way way better sounding but of course there were only probably less than 5 made I assume. Have a good one.

Yong here. LOL although I didn't hear anything when the headphones were put on my ears. Was it because the headphones were turned on and connected before they put the headphones on my head? Or was that setting turned off? I wouldn't know because I had my blind folds on before I even went into the room and didn't even know which headphones we were reviewing LOL
Charles here. We disabled the 'Automatic Head Detection' and I had connected and paired the headphones to their respective phones prior to putting the headphones on the their heads. We'll always try to keep these test as unbiased as possible!

Difficult to really blind test sound on headphones because you can feel the differences between them on your head, so even if you don't know what brands they are, you know they're different headphones and you don't know how that colors your judgment. (As opposed to, say, an amp where you can mix it up so you don't know which amp you're listening to)
Yong here. Great point and I do agree that you can feel the difference when you put them on. However, we look to test not just the sound but the headphone as a whole including comfort since many people have indicated to us previously that comfort/fit plays a big part when they decide to buy headphones. For me personally, if I were wearing headphones while working out, comfort/fit would be a huge part since I don't want them to fall off.

I hated the airpods stupid things. They dig into your head, way over priced and I worry about them costing another body organ when they inevitably break.

However, just to point out that I did not know which headphones were being reviewed so unless I knew all the different headphones that are out in the market and tried them on, I probably would have never guessed which two headphones I was reviewing. The Pandas can do LDAC ... Did this Blind test use LDAC? Cause that's what Makes the Pandas Special... the APMs have no LDAC...

I'm guessing that the Pandas hadn't had the SoundID app profile adjustments, which radically improves the sound over the AirPods. Too bad.

It is worth mentioning Pandas have horrible QC. I had to RMA them twice.
