Though you might find many people understand Hindi around but they have their own language which they speak. Kannada is local language that most understand there in Bangalore(in Karnataka state total). You will be fine speaking in English too since Bangalore is IT Hub and everyone speaks English mostly. If you speak in Kannada, people will surely be happy and go an extra mile. Here are some words that can be helpful Hegiddira : Heg-iddi-ra : How are you! Namaskara : Namas-kara : Hello!
