You missed the last tanking category, it’s called “Taking One For The Team” and involves deploying units like Clanne in the last few chapters to take hits and die :)
The speedrun does this with Celica!Framme in Ch7 by warping to attract Hort turn 1, along with doing something similar in other chapters. It’s a very good use of bad units for sure (obviously Framme can be good but not in a speedrun setting)
For anyone that might not know about Soren's engaged tanking, I think the funniest interaction I've seen so far is Veyle's crit one. Dragon bonus on Flare (one of Soren's engage skills) is based on doubling crit rate when using Tomes, pair with Veyle and a crit engraving on Obscurité + Holdout and see enemies delete themselves when attacking her. For the last skill you can either use Canter for better positioning after player phase, Hit + for dodgy enemies, or just f*ck it all and put Reprisal for big pp dmg.
"If you're not getting hit you're not taking damage, and if you're not taking damage you're tanking" I honestly love this line. It's such a simple concept but I think people get so wound up on the idea that tanking is "surviving hits" that "playing smart" doesn't factor in. It also reminds me of "If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball", so that's funny.
I really like avoid tanking because I have to put more thought when it comes to builds and unit placement. The units that can avoid tank usually have really low bulk, so you'd like the enemy hit rate to be low, but you can't have the hit rate to be so low that they ignore the unit entirely. So it's a delicate balance.
Desperately trying to turn Gregory into an avoid tank. 😅 idk what I'm doing, but I did get his Avo up to 190-something with the help of avoid tiles. I mostly just wanted to make use of his personal skill.
If you're going to call out positional tanking, you should also mention terrain tanking with Corrin. Not getting hit because your enemy has to run through fire to get to you is how I tank most damage
I would like to make it abundantly clear that avoid tanking is straight up not viable under hybrid rn, if engage were true hit or 2 rn i could see avo tanking being very strong but even here you can see if the hit rate isn’t 0 it’s 100
I left in the 2% as an example, it is very unlikely those hit you, also I just beat the game using AVO tanking builds on flyer squad and it was pretty good
Me:reading the title, type of tanking avoid tanking and bulk defense tanking Coffee: avoid, mitigation, bonded, position, hold out, soren, nosferatu, etc. Me: 😶 my simple brain
The best type of tanking is to not even play the game. 100% guaranteed to avoid all enemy damage at all times.

Sacrifice Tanking 😂
I threw Clanne at enemies on the last few chapters too. He was my avo tank though so most enemies couldn't touch him.
Ah yes! Maximum exp gain with units you like by sacrifice 😅
I love these short videos detailing different strategies and mechanics, they just have a nice flow. Thanks for the content, man, appreciate it!

My favorite kind of tanking in engage is the tanking where i kill the enemy on their turn. Juggernauting is mad fun.
Not that 2% that early in the video...

I like to call the Vantage/Wrath/Hold Out style tanking preemptive tanking.
Vantage tanking?
@@IcedCoffeeGaming Yes

You should do General Alfred in the sabotage run that would be the funniest shit ever I saw it in that Trump and Biden video
Should also use Vander to let him cook.

There's also divine pulse taking
Bad RNG? pray to God a hit rate doesn't continue out of your favor and reroll!
I'm a simple man, I see cute Panette, I click
Why not just go for Avoid+30 instead of sword agility?
You can, Sword Agility costs much less SP
No offense but man I wish you pronounced Laguz properly.
: )
