Rechenka is my personal favorite of hers. A Russia folk song that she really gets to impress you with by the non-stop vocal gymnastics. Human is another that really shows of her deep notes & larynx suppresion.

Thanks for your time and comments for Diana. Yes she won this show, You Are Super, not once but twice. This performance was the semifinal for the second season she participated in. This season was comprised of winners and finalists from the 3 previous seasons. She won the year before at 14 years old. Now 17yrs old attending Gitis University in Moscow for TheraterArts/Music Voice and still performs concerts. Diana is now recording her first full album/cd to be released this spring. I saw a post that she recorded 2 songs today. She sings in her native Russian, also English, French, Spanish, German and Arabic. Wants to pursue folk rock genre but sings almost any genre as well. Natural story teller with the ability to convey the lyrics and emotions toward an audience. A true artist. Thanks again, great personality and will watch your channel.
Diana has so many paths she can take. I'm looking forward to which ones (plural) she chooses.
I just hope she will end up doing her own thing, she is special enough - she doesn't need to fall into a specific genre to achieve success, she just needs to stay true to herself.

Diana was 15 in this video. The contest was for children who grew up disadvantaged & without their parents. She was in foster care in a tribal area of Russia. She won the contest. She's 20 now and in Moscow performing and getting voice lessons. Her range is even better now.
Apparently she started with tribal singing and even yodels. That's where she learned to make the sounds and vocal range she uses. Definitely one of a kind and a magnificent singer.
Diana took part in this competition ("You are super") in the second season in 2018 at the age of 14, and then in the super season in 2019 and, of course, became the winner both times. The pinnacle of her performances in the second season is undoubtedly "Rechenka/River" - according to many - the best performance at vocal competitions in Russia. In the 2019 super season, she came across as a guest superstar rather than a contestant. All 7 of her performances on "You're Super" deserve watching and reaction. Believe me, there is something to be amazed and there is something to explore

@@cooltechnician Well, there are vocal coaches and then there are vocal coaches. I remember one who insisted that Diana's voice was processed and there was a back-up singer here. He also went on about how he would make "Rechenka" more challenging, how parts of Diana's voice were disconnected, and how she needed to "redeem herself" in the next song he would watch. Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled upon The Fairy Voice Mother - definitely someone to learn from.

I wouldn't call Rechenka the A side to 'Wicked Games' B side, but I think Rechenka is the most impressive of her performances. She walks like a shaman calling forth the spirits of nature.

Two years later, the channel announced the super season of the competition. Diana participated in it for the second time and won the Grand Prix.

Diana didn’t learn to speak or find her voice the way children normally do. She actually started singing as a form of speech therapy. She had a traumatic past and was abandoned at an orphanage. She had no voice at all. She started having singing lessons to help her speak and not stay mute for the rest of her life. Maybe that has something to do with the unusual quality of her voice.

I noticed a long time ago (also at this point) that Diana's larynx looks unusual. You are the first person to mention this.
In fact, Diana participated in two seasons - 2-nd season and super-season (finalists of the previous two seasons) of this show - in 2018 and 2019 respectively. She won the first season, and had Grand Prix of the super-season. Diana is a special phenomenon, a vocal Universe, she has now transformed into a one of a kind. dramatic, chocolate contralto, with numerous fans all over the world. Her vocal range starts from C3 (no fry) to D6 or even higher, with full access to all registers within it. Try Rechenka next (she performed it in the age of 14), and you will be even more amazed. Diana is a miracle, without a doubt, such an incredible contralto sound, at such a young age is already a miracle in itself!!!
Her current release, the Elvis classic- Cant help falling in love, a dark version. Shes come a long way. More higher head voice and full open throat belting. Its big And powerful. She basically turns into a trombone . Youve got to see hear this
Every time I see this I am more impressed by how well the truly brilliant mixing, staging, costume, lighting, arrangement and out of this world great percussion and strings complemented her sound.
I doubt anywhere other than Russia - where they are familiar with Siberian shamanic, Slavic deep chants, opera, orchestral & many other types of great music - would this be likely on a TV show.

It's the agility and runs she does with that deep placed voice that are mesmerising and makes her stand out.
I have also likened Diana’s vocals to Cher - just more intense. I have to be in a specific mood to listen to Diana, but she continues to grow on me. Loved your analysis and would love to hear you singing sometime. Your successful mimicry during both Diana and Dimash’s reactions lead me to believe that you likely have a good voice too. I agree that Diana doesnt need riffs to impress, because shes impressive at being able to capture the essense of some very mature songs, and bloody hell, she just sounds like a mountain singing. However, she does use many different techniques when appropriate. Her most versatile performance is probably Rechenka, and Derniere Danse.

Fairy Voice Mother; You pretty much summed it up Diana's voice being between her and God as the 8th wonder of the world. I could not prevent a tear from flowing from my left eye. So glad "this generation" has a chance to hear "Wicked Games" by Rick Isaak. It is a classic and if you've never heard of the late Roy Orbison (or even Elvis!), you will hear the sound of a timeless era that was as naturally beautiful as its stories were pure of love. Kudos to guitarist Jame Calvin Wilsey as well for his hauntingly beautiful intro. ...And the set designer captured the essence and depth of the song along with the "wicked" vocals flowing out of Diana's mouth!
