There's a guy who worked at Disney that actually deleted every Star Wars video on his channel that was critical of The Acolyte recently.
I don't know why he did it, but something he said that was interesting was that when Trump was elected a high-ranking member of Lucasfilm announced "We need to use our influence to ensure that what happened now will never happen again," which was followed by the rest of Lucasfilm cheering.
So, I guess all of this was because they have been trying to desperately convince the majority of people that Trump is bad because they blame themselves for Trump being elected.

They were a human tribal matriarchal society that the Skywalkers eventually help against the evil Nightsisters. Do NOT watch the Acolyte even out of morbid curiosity. It is not worth your time. While it's a step up from Kenobi and Ahsoka(both were terrible in their own regards), the writing is so painfully inconsistent. An assassin who fights a Jedi in a public bar. Right... The series needs to hide behind its diversity to justify its awful writing. And while the folks going after it for that reason are annoying; it shouldn't deflect from it being a bad vanity project where it uses diversity as a shield and nothing authentic or organic. Arcane, Blue Eye Samurai and HOTD all do what the Acolyte does but better. Kennedy and her crowd can sniff their own farts till the cows come home but it doesn't change the fact they've produced a turd; no matter what color it is. Folks can like this series but don't argue it's good. That's an insult to the craft of writing.

Ahsoka was Filoni’s vanity project as well, it’s just become a platform for high budget fanfic, Ahsoka has quickly become the most important and powerful character in the franchise, replacing Luke’s Thrawn trilogy with an inferior facsimile, and TCW did the same thing with countless characters & concepts. But I’ve read fanfic or seen fan films that are infinitesimally more faithful to the lore than anything I’ve seen on Disney+ aside from Andor.

Which is disappointingly commonplace in the entertainment industry these days.

So, criticizing something that was poorly made, without any soul in it is now "hating" and leaving overly positive reviews that are clearly paid for are "unbiased journalism"? This is just turning into apathy, we are now in the stage of still making fun of it because deep down we still care, in few years it will turn into a complete apathy. No one will talk about it, not even for making fun of it. I am not particular fan of Star Wars, but I went through this with Marvel and MCU. Don't remember when was the last time I even looked up if they made anything new.

12:05 I think it's definitely fair to say that online backlash doesn't really reflect the reception of most general audiences who make up the bulk of any given viewership. There's a silent majority that generally don't spend much time on social media and don't form very strong critical opinions about the media they watch. But I think that's why making media that meets the standards of the more vocal and opinionated online fanbase is so important - if most viewers are undiscerning audiences that are generally going to enjoy whatever you put in front of them, you might as well make something that meets the critical threshold too, especially since the online fans are most likely to post ratings and reviews that could either invite or repel new viewers.

I will say all the discourse about this show is far more compelling than the show itself. I'm watching it, I don't like it, but I feel like if I'm going to criticize it, I should watch it. My gripes are with the writing, the acting, the shoddy visuals, and (in my opinion) Headland using this show (and 180 million dollars) to work out her own issues. Alot of directors/writers do this; that's what art can be used for. However, when all facets of the show are very badly done, all that's left is a poorly paced therapy session with Star Wars slapped on the title. And I think that's what bothers a majority of the fans. I think Disney has done an overall poor job of carrying on the legacy of this IP, and it has nothing to do with gender, race, sexuality, or any other social issues. It's very simple, the good stuff rises to the top, everything else is just noise.

The funny thing about the meme chant is that it’s only stupid because it’s in English. Yeah, magical chanting in a language that your audience is almost guaranteed to speak is just lazy writing. Andor is potentially the best thing star wars since the early clone wars seasons. It was mature, stuck to lore, had amazingly written characters, and wonderful set pieces with minimal cgi or other fake effects. Star Wars the acolyte is the opposite in nearly every aspect but mainly sticking to the lore and character writing. And the shills at wookieepedia are actively changing the lore on their servers to cover up a Disney mistake in episode 4.
Also to note, I think Hayden’s acting in the prequels was amazing for anakin. He was playing a young adult who was trained from a young age to never feel or explore his emotions so when he was faced with extremes he didn’t know how to handle them internally so he acted externally. I think the best contrast to this is obi wan in the prequels. He has a grasp on his emotions for his extra Jedi relationships and own moral compass and as much as he tried to teach this to anakin he saw how he dealt with things himself and because of his internalized struggles he taught anakin wrong. TLDR anakin in the prequels is wonderfully written and expertly acted

They too are Star Wars fans, but apparently because they also criticise Disney SW on a more ideological level (the Acolyte is proof of ideology coming first before character, plot and writing) they don't count. Just a note. They may say 40 minutes (for an episode). But around 10 minutes is Disney Star Wars Logo, Intro from last weak and Credits (the credits are rediculously long) with no after credit scenes. So each episode is more like 25 to 30 minutes. Its actually funny how they try do DRAG each episode length out with the Credits (at least 4-5 minutes). Many have said the same, when the credits roll, many look how much more there is left of the Episode (because it ends so abruptly, but feels like dubbel the length), and there is still like 10% at least, so many wait or fast forward to look for after credit scenes, but nope. Nothing.
But on the other hand. Only watch it if you want to se the disaster for your self, like an actuall study in crime/how not to, or to get your "real" personal opinion (based on experience). But it is like seeing someone eating bad food and start vomiting, and you are wondering "Is it realy that bad?", and you are curious. And test it your self... On the other hand, there are still 4 episodes left so, It MAY have hidden resolves. But probably not.
IMHO, this isnt realy worse then Book of Boba Fett, or Kenobi, or Mando Season 3+ or Ahsoka. It is around the same (bad). But as there are no legacy characters in it (except Mundi from the prequels, that was retconned into it), there are no emotional hooks like Boba Fett, Kenobi, Luke, Leia, Darth Vader or Ahsoka etc. So no one likes it. If you try to look at it from a distance, I still think Book of Boba Fett is worse. But this ads nothing other then cringe, anger and confusion.
    Cheers.
