For this to be a BoF interview (whose site I LOVE and go to almost every day!), I’m a little disappointed that Imran didn’t ask Tory to describe how she went about obtaining/raising the initial seed capital that allowed her to open that first store on Elizabeth Street, launch 16 product categories simultaneously, have an office in Hong Kong, etc. We fashion nerds know what we have seen and read about the rise of Tory Burch the person and brand (not to mention her gorgeous homes in The Pierre/ Southampton), but without the question being asked are we to take it as a given that the Beautiful Burch simply benefited from deep-pocketed family members, a moneyed husband, the social connections that naturally come with being attractive (and rich)-or all of the above? Not to say that she didn’t work hard for everything she has-because obviously, SHE DID and DOES!-but still, aren't those first financial steps a key part of her story….? u know...the business...of fashion?
People are going crazy over Tory in America. I was at the Orlando outlets the other weekend and they were only letting in a certain number of people in at a time and there was a loooong line outside of her store. Prada was virtually empty.
Great and insightful interview! I love how humble and confident she is with her company vision and mission. She's a true testament that you can accomplish great success in fashion while still making a difference for others :-)!
She's so right about story has the power to help a product because after hearing her's I'm all for supporting her and her brand. I liked her products but I didn't want to get a Tory Burch just because it was a Tory Burch.

I love her story. Very inspiring ❤️ she had no experience as a designer or business.

16:24 "Why do you think price has become such an important part of the calculation?"
