When people ask about what I’m getting ready to do they always say endless vacation. My response is no, I’m just going to live in different places a month at a time. Living is not vacation. Great example.
Living somewhere else each month without the grind of 9 to 5 is what makes what we are doing so enjoyable. Thank you for watching!
Finally someone has provided this type of detail. So tired of the general comment “whatever you do at home since we aren’t on vacation.” When you work full time and are planning to travel full time, it’s a huge shift that is hard to anticipate. I so appreciate your videos! I hope your travels home to Bellingham are safe.
Thank you, Erin. We get asked all the time from friends, family, and people who watch our channel what it is that we do all day. We usually give that same standard answer. Hopefully, the video will help people understand. Thank you for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
Great video! It's really helpful to let people see what a normal day looks like when you live a nomadic life. It's not all sightseeing and doing the touristy things, which I have trouble explaining to family and friends. It's simply regular living...just someplace else. That area of Antalya looks really nice. I stayed near the center of town when I was there, but I think I will try the area you were in next time I go there. Migros was my favorite grocery store in Turkey! Cheers!
We really like the area that we are staying in and highly suggest staying here if you decide to come. Thank you for watching!! 🍻
Helpful tip: Always check your windshield wipers for cats. (11:00 mark or so). 😀😀😀 I've definitely noticed the different take in various parts of the world on the same foods. I actually think I prefer the Greek version of spaghetti bolognese since it's more peppery and not as tart. Great helpful info as always.
It is sometimes a mystery with what you get but that is part of the fun I suppose. As always, thanks, Doug for watching and commenting!
Cheers!!🍻
I appreciated the insight and honesty. From afar it looks like your days are filled with sightseeing and adventures which is exhausting, thank you
Thank you for watching!!!
Cheers!!🍻
Thank you so much for sharing behind the scenes. This might be my favorite video.
Well, thank you so much for watching! 🙂❤
Loved the video and it's appreciated. Thank you for sharing. Antalya looks like a great place to spend some time and seems well set up for good living. Looking forward to your next video. Happy Trails!
Thank you so much!! Our Antalya video will be out next week!
Cheers!!🍻
Love seeing what a typical day consists of for you guys.
I think laundry when you’re travelling is so tricky, having a washer dryer would make it so much easier, especially when it’s winter. Thanks for your great videos.
I really look forward to our time at home and how wonderful clothes smell right out of the dryer. It's the little things 😊.
Another great video! We love slower travels as retirees. I love exploring grocery stores wherever we go and have the essentials list whenever we arrive in country. Immersing for longer periods makes it so much better than cramming 100 things into a week's vacation during the working years. Safe travels! Cheers!
Thank you for watching and safe travels to you two as well! Enjoy that instant coffee!!!😀
Cheers!!🍻
One of your best videos. You really have the most useable advice
Thank you, Nicole!! ❤
I appreciate the time and effort you put into making this video. Thank you so much for sharing.
Happy and safe travels.
❤Zeljka
We appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Thank you, Zelijka! ❤
Great video. Thank you. I’m retiring in about a month and plan to travel extensively. I really appreciate your channel. You share so many practical tips!!!
Thank you for watching, Rebecca. Congratulations on your retirement!
Cheers!!! 🍻
Really enjoyed seeing how y’all navigate the day-to-day while slow traveling. Your evolution since you began traveling has been such a privilege to watch; thank you so much for sharing these last couple of years with us.
Hope we run into you in Bham during the holidays…cheers and safe travels back to subdued excitement! 😊
Thank you for supporting us for so long, Anne! We are excited to be returning to the PNW for the holidays!
Cheers!!🍻
We are going to be part time nomads, 5-6 months of traveling. We love your videos, thanks for continuing to work hard during your travels!
Thank you for continuing to watch, Tammy and good luck on your future travels!
Cheers!!🍻
Thanks so much for this video and sharing your nomad life. Lots of great tips especially re shopping and cooking. I’m already getting into you tube fitness videos in preparation.
Thank you for watching our channel!! There are so many fitness channels to choose from that you can't go wrong! 😀
Very helpful. Thanks as always.
Thank you, Scotti!
Very informative video. Thanks for sharing the reality of full time travel.
Thank you for watching!!!
Cheers!!🍻
I appreciate how authentic you both are & thought this was a great video to change things up & also to puts things in to perspective . At 37 year old you guys have definitely given me some ideas of what’s possible with early retirement. Just need to get the hubby on board 😅. Love all your videos 😊
Thank you so much, Laura for watching our channel!! Get your husband on board, you won't regret it!! 🙂
We’re just starting our full time travel life (3 weeks in) and it still feels like a vacation. That’s fun, but I’m looking forward to the let’s-be-cool-about-it vibe you guys have going on. Oh, and I loved the coffee montage at the beginning. You’re real RUclipsrs now!
When we started, we would feel guilty if we didn't go out and do something. It took us a long time to be cool. 😎 Sit back and enjoy the lifestyle, safe travels.
Cheers!!🍻
What's up guys - we love this video. We obviously, as viewers, are always super interested in the arm-chair travel we get by watching your destinations. Seeing this daily living routine type of video brings us that much closer to real life living abroad and for that we are grateful. Thanks for the video, enjoy the holidays, and we'll be here watching when you get back on the road 🙂
Thank you! We have had so many people ask what we do all day so we decided to show you how normal everyday life can be. Glad that you two got value in this video. We really weren't sure about the interest level. Thank you again for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
This was a great video for we travelers. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
Cheers!!🍻
Brilliant idea and concept...so many things people should really consider while travelling. Very well done. Always been watching you videos on and off [such a wonderful couple, our compliments]. This one hit the subscribe. A family of four, also nomadic. Good luck guys...hope to cross paths sometime in the future. Happy Travels. May your channel grow steady and get the credit you guy deserve for putting in the work!
Thank you so much 😊. We are so happy you enjoyed this one. It's not always the exciting, action packed life people imagine. We appreciate your support - happy and safe travels to you! Cheers!!
This is very helpful, thanks!
Thank you, Pam! ❤
Super relatable and well articulated information ❤
Thanks guys! Enjoying your Bangkok vids, we miss the food there so much. Cheers!!
You two are awesome to watch.
Thank you so much for watching, Joe!!
Cheers!!🍻
Fantastic video guys! We are having a "mature" persons "gap year" in 2025. The mindset is an alternative way of life slow travelling, rather than a holiday as such. Your videos are very inspirational.
Thank you for watching our channel!! 2025 will be here before you know it!!
Cheers!!🍻
Hey guys! Great video nice again! I caught myself smiling several times as you were describing things. It does get a bit tricky figuring things out at each new place, especially washers and coffee makers. Haha. Looking forward to meeting you both sometime soon. 🤞. Keep up the great work! We SO appreciate all your information and hard work!
We SO appreciate that you watch our channel!! 😀Thank you!! We would love to meet up sometime!!
Cheers!!🍻
We love your videos! We have been nomads for 7.5 months now and don't see it ending. We seem to travel similarly. Thank you for what you do. I am a coffee drinker and travel with a Stanley Classic Travel French Press. I buy local ground coffee - it is much better than instant. The thermos keeps coffee hot for couple hours, then keeps ice for water for half a day! It can be heavy but I use it as a daily water bottle. Keep up your good travels.
That is a good way to get good coffee. We travel with carry-on only, so it is difficult to take anything extra. With our camera gear and laptops, we don't have any extra room. The small sacrifices we make! 😄 Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Cheers!!🍻
Love your videos and really appreciate the amount of time and effort you put into all of your videos. It's great seeing how you spend your time. Thanks for the hard work. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and making it all worth our time!!
Cheers!!🍻
Some great insight and advice everyone should watch before full-time traveling! The only advice I have for Brian is take a backpack to the grocery store to easily carry more beverages home! 🍻 I didn't think of this until 3 months in of full-time traveling. Especially helped when we had some far walks to the stores. - Chris
Great idea, Chris!!
So very true!! Not endless vacation and holiday. Rather "living" somewhere else a full life, similar to home, but in a different part of the world.
This was a great video idea for you both to make!!! Awesome!!
Thank you, so happy you enjoyed it. Cheers 🍻
It was fantastic to see your day-to-day. Many of the elements are similar to the routine into which I am settling, after two and a half months on the road. Just hung up a load of laundry in the cool Athens evening! My biggest difference is that I have to get in the exercise first thing in the morning or I will run out of time for it, later in the day.
If I (Brian) don't get exercise my 12:00 I may not go!! 😄 Thank you for watching!!!
Hi there! I've missed coming here to your channel. I don't like using the excuse that I've been busy, but hey, it's true. My family and I also have a You Tube channel, so we stay busy with that. I really liked this video you both did! So many great nuggets of info as to what to expect in a nomadic life. My favorite part was at the grocery store; it's always intriguing to see what food items are available in different parts of the world. Great heads up on the laundry situation at certain locations, too. Call me sentimental, but tears were brought to my eyes when Brian shared that the greatest and most important ingredient in any meal Carrie makes is LOVE. ❤Thanks so much for another awesome video!
Thanks for watching! Happy and safe travels 😊
What a great down to earth couple …my wife and I are newly active retirees who love travel so your videos are great to watch, and great tips as well, cheers from Jim & Irene
Thank you for watching, Jim and Irene! ❤
Wonderful Video! We are 4 months in on our slow travel journey and have been to Mexico, Ecuador, Columbia and now in Turkey than heading off to Asia as we launch our own RUclips production. We ae glad that our daily life looks very similar! Keep up the great videos as you both inspire us.
Hopefully, you are enjoying Turkey as much as we are, Anthony! It sounds like you two are off to an amazing start! You will love SE Asia!! Thank you for watching and good luck on your RUclips channel! If we can do it so can you!! Safe travels!
Cheers!!🍻
That was a fun video guys, Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!! 😄❤
Love your videos. Still lots of them for me to go back and watch. Next fall we are taking a longer trip in Europe and ending with a repositioning cruise.. Hope you will post about your cruise too!
That sounds great! We are excited to be doing this cruise! We will be doing a video all about our experience including the cost and what is all included. Thank you for watching and safe travels!
Cheers!
Great suggestion about checking utensils when you arrive at your lodging. I was just in an AirBnb for Thanksgiving in the US, and family members had to go to my kid's college housing to grate lemons to make lemon zest because the AirBnB had no grater in the kitchen. I didn't think to check for this when we arrived a few days earlier.
That is a common one to not have. We are lucky enough to have one in our current Airbnb. You just never know!!
Love the video and sneak peek in the day in the life of B&C! We love slow travel and your daily routine looks similar to ours (including hubs ketchup on eggs lol)! Thanks for sharing!😍
You can't have eggs without ketchup! 😀 Thank you so much for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
Thanks for the hints when living in a new place. Have made some mistakes in the past and one is often over buying. I would recommend All the Light We Cannot see. It is a 4 part series and was wonderful.
Thank you, Cindy! We will look it up!! ❤
I concur regarding show to watch. It’s an incredible book, too!
I love grocery store videos. I could binge them as a sub-genre of travel 😅. As for exercise, I assumed your exercise came from climbing up to castles and overlooks. Good on you!
Thank you for watching, Mike!
Hey Brian, I went to Lanna Square last night and had the Pad Thai that you ate there. It was fantastic! Im going back there again tonight! Thanks for the tip!
YES!! I think I went maybe 4 nights in a row!!! 😂😂
Maestro in Blue - great show!
Thank you!!!🍻
Useful information
A great, practical video, thanks! I especially loved that you caught a few fabulous, well-loved Turkish kitties in your shots. The one on the car windshield was my favorite ;) Enjoy the rest of your time there! Karyn
There are cats everywhere and Thay are all well takin care of! Thank you so much for watching, Karyn!
Cheers!!🍻
When I was in Turkey on a tour, someone asked our tour guide who all the cats belonged to. He replied that the cats don't belong to anybody, they belong to everybody.
Minnie and I just watched your video .. We are doing similar meals. We now carry on our pepper, salt, oregano, cinnamon, garlic powder, and onion powder. We buy curry and use it up..
We started Virgin River on Netflix.
Wheel of time on prime. (Lord of the rings) ish.
If you're back it's frozen in Spokane today. Happy Thanksgiving and happy holidays. We head to Mexico this Friday for 18 days... Before Christmas then January we head back to the South Pacific. Cheers. Thank you again for your videos.
Larry and Minnie. New full time travelers you inspired over the last two years.
Thank you for all the recommendations!! ❤
Great audio tracks. You guys have good taste. 👌 Hope you are enjoying yourselves wherever you roam. Great videos. I enjoy watching. Keep it up! 🍻
Thank you so much! We really appreciate the feedback. Cheers!!
I know what's coming up and I'm so excited!!!! ❤❤❤
Me too, me too ❤️❤️❤️
I think that this is an invaluable video. At a time of Instagram and TikTok and videos showing all the glamourous and remarkable places that you have been, you are showing a regular day-in-the-life. You aren't tourists. You are living, and that means washing clothes, doing dishes, getting ingredients and doing some work and catching up on world events. For Brian it means not washing bed-head before reading the news and sports items (ahem, the Seattle Kraken now a team you should follow)! But the real helpful hints about how to deal with ingredients in foreign languages is so true. Travelling light means not hauling around half a suitcase of spices. And cooking utensils. I would expect that you also get local in season produce when in places too. Portugal in May had local oranges and cherries that were amazing! When near the ocean, I would foresee local fresh caught fish. Interesting that you don't shop together but separately at grocery. You each have executive power in those decisions. Cheers to both.
It's often very different than what many anticipate. It's everyday living most days, just somewhere else. I know the separate shopping to many may seem strange. But we snack and drink VERY different, so it just works well for us to shop separate for those things. But then we do eat dinner the same typically. Thanks so much for watching. Cheers!!
love this! enjoy your cruise!
Thank you!! 🍻
Interesting to see the food/grocery info - thx for answering my questions about it! And I rely on those meals as well! 😃 I also have a big pot of veg soup in the fridge most of the time, so easy to reheat for a quick filling meal, and since I add beans it’s really filling. I’m with you on the homemade Mexican seasoning, but think I could get by with cumin and some sort of chili powder? Translating the labels would def add to time to the grocery visit, never thought about that! 🤔 I don’t think I’ve seen any other normal-nomad-day vid on the other channels I watch, so this was GREAT! Normal life, just a different place.
Netflix: the original Money Heist is the best thing I’ve watched in a very long time!! The English dubbing is great, nothing like the old karate movies I grew up on. 😂 Loved it so much I watched it again last month. Also highly recommend a new one, ‘Who is Erin Carter?’ It’s a limited series, but the ending makes it seem like there could very well be more, hopefully. Mission Impossible 1-4 are up right now, also the two Anchoman movies, 2 seasons of Lincoln Lawyer, and I HIGHLY recommend Hustle if you’ve not seen it!! Love old-school SNL Opera Man and Adam Sandler’s sweet countenance in interviews, but not necessarily most of his movies, but Hustle is freaking amazing IMO. And have to finish with my favorite set of all time, Jason Bourne ❤ - I’ll watch and rewatch every one any time they’re available. 😉 Just call me Gene Siskel! (EDIT: oops on the overwhelming exclamation points and emoji. Evidently I’ve had enough caffeine… teehee)
Thank you for watching and for all the recommendations!! We wanted to do this video and show what our lives are really like. Normal as can be! 😀 I will always watch Jason Bourn, over and over!!!
Cheers!!🍻
" All you need is love." I really enjoyed watching how you spend your days. You also gave some excellent advice about washing and shopping. I assume that you were in Antalya when you made this video. Are you going to post a video about it? Keep up the good work. 😊
Happy you enjoyed it ☺ . Yes, we are in Antalya - that video will be coming out next week. Thanks for watching! Cheers 🍻
Who doesn't like free tips! You nailed this one, guys. Ah', Salt and Pepper. I'm a little fussy, so it's got to be Himalayan pink rock salt in the grinders. Not exactly practical to carry around in a suitcase, hence it stings the hip pocket again and again. Oh' and then there's the coconut oil. Truely, the love and the journey you both share is absolutely envious. Great Vibes.
Thank you so much for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
We just started watching "SILO" on AppleTV. Pretty good. I also recognize places you have visited on The Amazing Race. I love that show!
I so appreciate this! I was surprised how "normal" it was. Almost like home life but a new location (without: mortgage, tax, insurance, repairs lol and on) very interesting
We are often asked why we didn't keep, our home back in the US. Our answer is we didn't want a mortgage, tax, insurance, home repairs, and on and on!! 😄 Thank you for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
Stir fry! That's what I'm making tonight :) I have rice to use up. Here in Cefalu (yep-still here lol) we found a grocery store nearby that has roast chickens for 4Euro. Then I make soup. Love the video guys. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and commenting! Hope you are enjoying Cefalu as much as we did.
Cheers!!🍻
We have been following you guys for almost two years since we started our nomadic life. Great video except for the instant coffee...hahahaha... we cannot do that one and have been traveling with a French press. It is very interesting to see how we all have our own little preferences. Something that is a "must have" for someone is not even a thought for somebody else. Thanks for the video, we really enjoyed it!
We are carry-on luggage only with no room for a French press. 😆 We do love good coffee and look forward to getting home for some of Seattle's best! Thank you for sticking with us for so long, we very much appreciate the support.
Cheers!!🍻
Great video of slow travel and day to day life tips
Cheers from Seattle 🌧
Hi in Seattle!! Thanks so much 😊😊
A typical retirement day for us in the UK is
Hubby spends the 1st 2 hours of the day reading the papers and researching financial articles online because he manages our SIP (pension) investments and makes notes for when he’s updating our share portfolio. I spend that time on social media and managing our social life/engagements. We both shower then I practise my Saxophone….and we go our seperate ways until dinner time.
Love your videos and hope our paths cross someday! Shows to consider: Bosch then Bosch Legacy, All the light we cannot see, Jack Ryan, Joe Pickett, Harriet, Lenox Hill, Love on the Spectrum (both Australia and US versions)
Thank you for the show recommendations! I think we've only seen one of those! Thank you for watching our channel as well, we appreciate the support! 🍻
Hey guys. We watched your last video and had a thought about your Airbnb not having some things.
We’ve had good success getting our hosts to buy coffee makers, etc, even new sheets.
Kind of like asking for a discount, it never hurts to ask.
Have fun on the rest of your trip.
That is a great idea! We will be asking for a coffee pot is our next destination! Thank you, Elena! ❤
Seems as though Airbnb would offer a suggested list of things to provide for smooth stays. Also, the hosts should have a check list for the cleaners to review. More than once, there's only been one glass or coffee mug.
Love your videos! We are also retired younger (late 50's), and whlle I don't think we'll do it full-time, I would love to spend a month + in some places!
That seems to be what works for many...full time travel isn't for everyone. Thank you so much for watching!
Great content. We do very much the same while traveling. What’s up with the Nescafé everywhere. I’m able to choke it down but it’s no Seattle style brew. Just returned from Buenos Aires. Highly recommend. The American dollar has great buying power currently. $9 hour massage, $7 pedicures, $4 haircuts etc. Keep up the great work!
We are looking at getting down there sooner than later! It was on our original itinerary 2+ years ago but things changed do to covid. We are looking forward to getting back to the PNW and getting some real coffee as well. Thank you for watching!
Cheers!
I love this. Turkish recipes are very famous. Why not learn and try a few recipes while you're there. It will be fun for us to watch. Nice to see you.
Great idea! We do like to go out every so often to get the local cuisine, but we like to cook what we know. 😀Thank you for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
Lupin, Outlander, Kominsky Method, Stranger Things, A Walk in the Woods, Enola Holmes were a few I have enjoyed on Netflix and Murdery Mystery with Jennifer, Aniston and Adam Sandler. Thanks so much for sharing your inside of your day today I like napping too and reading. Thanks for all the good tips. Cheers and happy Thanksgiving weekend from Northern California.🍻🥰
Thank you, Anna! Some of those we have not seen. Happy Thanksgiving to you and thank you for the continued ❤
White lotus on hbo
Have you ever seen Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias on Netflix??? I also love Great British Baking Show!! I’m obsessed, thanks for the video, we are full time RVers traveling in the USA for now, but we are going to go international travel soon!!! Happy travels 😊
Loved both Virgin River and Sweet magnolia.... I'll have to check out the baking show, we love cooking shows 😊. Safe travels and thanks for watching.
You two are lucky to have each other. What a great combo.
Have you watched?
Lupin
Call My Agent
You
I’ve binge watched all three and really enjoyed them.
May the travel gods smile upon you. ✈️🛳️
We feel incredibly lucky for sure!! We've watched a couple of those, but will need to check out call my agent, haven't heard of that one. Thanks for watching 😊
Hi BnC. Hope you guys had a Great thanks giving. Nice content for a change on the daily life. BTW- What city was it in Turkey that you were taking a Walk /jog. It was beautiful. Cheers!
We are in Antalya. Great place to settle in for a month if not longer. That video will be out next week. As always, thank you for watching and commenting!
Cheers!!🍻
wow such a cool video to watch ! thank you for sharing! Have the feeling we know you a little bit better :-) That would be super cool to see another video with some easy recepes to do when you are on the go ;-)
Great idea!! Thank you for watching and commenting!! ❤
As much as i adore the idea of full time travel, I miss my projects. I like to re-do furniture, picture framing, sewing, crafts et. Just making and creating all day long. I think I’m built for 6 weeks tops.
Six months is a good amount of time. You can have the best of both!! 😀
When I first traveled to Asia many years ago, I had the hardest time finding a grocery store. It took me awhile to realize they are usually located on the lower level of shopping malls, not at street level as in the US.
Yes, that is where we finally found the bigger one on Vietnam as well. Google maps is my friend, otherwise we would have never found them.
Hi from Canada, new to your podcast love it. Would be interested in which tools/apps you use to plan your travel/itinerary.
Thank you for joining us!! We will be doing a Q & A video soon and will address that question. Thanks again!! ❤
We started using our carry on luggage to haul our groceries when the store is a bit too far or we need to get heavy stuff.
Thats a great idea!!!😂
Cheers!!🍻
Not boring! Best Netflix movie is Nyad.
Thank you for watching and we will check out Nyad!
Cheers!!🍻
Great video and very informative.... I like how you do a day on and day off re chores and sights etc. Thinking that afternoon drinks do need to be maintained as a daily ritual to ensure good mental health and maintain social engagement with the community which is very important 😏🤭 🤣
Do you guys venture out past the town you are in? As in go on day trips to places of interest that may be nearby. Or even go further afield for a day or two to see a place that you may want to see but may not necessarily want to do a full detour to see? Hope that makes sense?
We will have our own transport so we may do a bit more of that but unsure at the moment. Weighing options up.
Yes, we love when we stay someplace that has places nearby we want to go see. We try and spread those daytrips out throughout the month to give us something different to look forward to.
Thank you so much for watching 😊
I wouldn't say it's boring...just real life. I hope you do a video on logistics, like how far ahead you're booking AirBnBs and flights. Are you booking RT or one way from/to the US? Sometimes one way international flights are almost as much as a RT ticket and open jaw tickets can sometimes be a little complicated to buy.
That is a great idea for a video! We will start thinking on that one and see what we can come up with. Thank you!
Cheers!!🍻
Another fantastic video with valuable info not normally discussed. Thanks. Market prices appeared comparable. Speaking of tacos, is ground beef something readily available? Is milk also readily available, albeit goat or similar?
We have not had any problems finding ground beef or milk in most locations that we have visited. Thank you so much for watching our channel!
Cheers!!!🍻
Wow! Things are somewhat different here in Mexico. There are very rarely any ovens here, but we always have a microwave, coffee maker, salt/pepper and some oil. One place didn’t have a coffee maker and we asked the host about it and he brought one over the next day. My husband was very happy. 😉
We also have only done laundry a couple of times, and that was the first month we were here, because that Airbnb had a washer and dryer. All the other ones we’ve been at have not had any laundry equipment. However, it is so affordable here to take your clothes to a lavenderia (laundromat) and have someone do it for you! 😁
We follow basically the same grocery store habits as y’all. Eggs and cheese are a must. Meat or poultry is questionable, unless we have a chain store nearby. I would never buy meat at a market here. 😬
I just finished watching a series on Netflix called ‘All the light we cannot see’. I thought it was great! It’s only 4 episodes long and has Hugh Laurie and Mark Ruffalo in it. One tip: have some tissues handy. 😉
Thanks for another informative video! Hope to meet up with y’all someday.
Safe travels.
Great idea to ask for a coffee maker! We will be doing that on our next stay! We would love to meet up someday soon! Thank you for watching and safe travels!
Cheers!!🍻
Another great video...what country is your favorite for food so far
Good question! We will have a video coming out with our top locations from the last year. But, Portugal still holds a high placing out of all we've been to. Cheers!!
Great tips for folks, guys. I've been in the same types of situations over the decades when either staying overseas in a serviced apartment, a rented apartment, or an AirBnb which came later since Airbnb wasn't established until 2008 up in San Francisco. But, prior to Airbnb, there were lots of other rental sites.
Whenever I'm going to be in a rental, I take my supplies with me, especially kitchen ones. I never leave home without a packed dish brush, my own knife, fork, and spoon (2 of each), a knife with ridges to cut bread, chopsticks, two hard-plastic cups as they can also serve as bowls for soup or cereal, a manual can opener/bottle opener, a small spatula, one of my small toiletry bottles filled with dishwashing liquid, and a few other items. I pack it all in a travel zip-pouch style bag and the items are always packed ready to go. I just toss the zip-pouch bag into my suitcase.
I have been in some places where I have walked into a kitchen and there were only a couple of plates and a pot. Go figure. Depending on the trip and length of stay in places, I would also pack a small fry pan like the one that you were cooking eggs in as that wasn't even provided. I don't travel carry-on only though in those situations, so I have more space to pack more of my kitchen necessities and don't have to deal with restrictions of what one can take onto a plane or can't take onto a plane.
As for spices, that's usually a problem. I love my spices and here at home have over 70 jars of spices. In rentals, even the availability of salt, pepper, and oil is usually a problem and who wants to constantly buy them and then have to leave them behind, before moving on to the next destination? It can get expensive. But, if one has checked baggage, one can take along a small bottle of oil.
It's a good idea that when one is at home and eating out at places where small packets of ketchup, soy sauce, salt, pepper, etc are provided to just save them, toss them into a ziplock bag, and then when you're ready to go on an overseas trip, take them with you. Plus, one can actually buy tiny bottles and packets of items at places like WM as I was just in WM a few days ago and they had tons of items, even tabasco sauce in tiny bottles. Food condiments come in tiny packaging just like toiletries do.
What one packs and how one packs depends a lot on where one is going and how long one plans to stay in each place if staying in apartments or houses.
I had to laugh on the stir fry situation as I have lived a lot of stir fry days while in rentals overseas. LOL! In Bangkok, I would go to the supermarkets and stack up on noodle packages and then usually toss out the included seasoning packet as it was both very salty and also usually contained MSG. I'd then stir fry my vegetables and some fish and add the plain noodle block and a little water and had lunch or dinner.
Wherever you are in the world at present, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving yesterday. Smiles.
Now to get on to the long list of other vlogs that have popped up to watch. Scary. But, I came to this one first! LOL!
Greetings from Los Angeles
Thank you so much, hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. We used to carry some essential kitchen items, like a knife sharpener. But, after switching to carry on, the space was too limited. Now we just make due best we can and buy something if it's absolutely needed. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Cheers 🍻
Yeah, with carry-on only, it's more difficult packing some items.

We laughed about how similar our travel life is to yours. We get our beer close to our Airbnb. Tacos are a go too meal for us too. I pack Old El Paso Hot & Spicy seasoning packs with us, 1 pack per week.
Taco seasoning would be easy to pack away! Great idea! Thank you for the tip!
Cheers!!🍻
Great video, where did you guys spend your last month in Turkey? We have taken a repositioning cruise from Barcelona to Miami. It was great.
We are currently in Antalya, Turkey. That video will be out next week. We are very excited for our cruise and seeing if this could be a great new way to travel transatlantic. Cheers!!
One thing I would definitely pack with me would be a Moka pot to make coffee. I just can’t do instant anymore. 😂
From my experience in European Airbnb's is that when there is only one machine for laundry, its a washer/dryer combo unit.
Both cycles are slow usually 2.5-3 hrs per, so only one load a day.
In over two years of traveling Europe, we have never been lucky enough to get a washer/dryer combo!! We have always had to hang dry. 🙄
@@BrianandCarrie ok good to know, will add that to the list of questions we always ask the host.
Great video, thank you 👍
I just watched Maestro, w/Bradley Cooper, on Netflix- awesome movie ❤
Thank you, Nancy!! We haven't seen that one. ❤
Even though you're not typical tourists, I would make time in the afternoon to see some of the local sights. If I want to live the same as I do in the US, I'd just stay home. After going to 40 countries, I can really say there is nothing left on my travel bucket list.
We absolutely do. Our favorite is just wandering around the different areas in a town, we find things we wouldn't have otherwise.
great video, great choice of wife and beer Brian 😊
The best!😀
Seattle Seahawks, really Brian, you were my hero lol(cowboy fan here lol )
Hawks, Dawgs, M's, Kraken, and hopefully the Sonics soon!! 😄
Cheers!!!🍻
Lol you lost me at " I buy my food and Venmo my wife!" Good video with lots of great information.
😁
I got say, I’m a little jealous of your lifestyle and at the same time happy to not be a “nomad”. Also, good on you both for staying active even with (what it seems) having a hectic schedule. And one last thing…Brian, I can’t believe you put ketchup on your eggs!
You can't have eggs without ketchup, Enrique! 😀 I'll be home late next month!! 🍻🍻
I once bought a solid block wrapped in foil in the refrigerated aisle in Poland thinking it was butter. When I got back to my Airbnb and started to spread it on the bread, I realized it was fresh yeast! Of course, this was before translation apps...
Haha... Fun memories 🤣
I recently re discovered it’s always Sunny in Philadelphia. I started and stopped it 15+ years ago bc back then I thought it was too stupid.
Now in my dotage I love funny stupid stuff. 😂
Not all episodes hit it out of the park but I love I’m only in season 2 of 16 seasons.
We have heard of it but have never watch. With 16 seasons it must be worth a try! Thank you Catherine! 🙂
All of the Mike Birbiglia comedy specials are good. So are Tom Pappas and John Mulaney
I love watching survivor. Maybe you might enjoy it too
We love watching Survivor and Amazing Race!
Great video thanks. Very interesting. Btw I have just watched an equivalent one from a young Australian couple ‘Jordan and Emily’ who had watched ones from other vloggers. So is this the new thing from RUclipsrs?
Sharing our day was something we never think to do because to us it seems so boring. But, we get why many of our viewers have requested it, wondering what would a typical day look like traveling full-time. Thanks so much for watching 😊
they have Migros on n Switzerland but most expensive country so idk if you’ll visit. should do The Great Train Journey before we get to old (In in Switzerland now for my 60th birthday on top of Alps (Mt Pilatus)
We do have an interest in doing some more adventurous activities like what you describe. We are still budget travelers so need to save and plan for any "extra" excursions that may cost more than we would normally spend. We have done a few and do plan on doing more, hopefully soon! Thank you for watching our channel!!
Cheers!!🍻
Great videos! We just started watching. Where are you at in this video? Maybe I missed it. Thank you! Anna
Thank you 😊. We were in Antalya, Turkiye.
@@BrianandCarrie We will have to check that out. We're excited excited to hear about your Mexico trip this year. Our plan is to do that in the spring of next year with partial house sits and regular stays.
Instant coffee no bueno! We like to buy beans at your nearest hipster coffee shop and carry a melitta pour over. Best coffee. If you have a Chemex even better. All you need is boiling water.
Oh, also about the coffee... Every place has different pod machines and I've switched to instant coffee. What's your "go to" instant in Europe?
We have also been to places with pod machines and have no idea which ones to buy. The go-to that we find everywhere is Nescafe.
Brian, bring the great people of Washington too!!
This is truly teamwork.. Thanks for sharing your boring lifestyle with us. I'm just teasing. LOL
😁
