What I can share with you is that when I was born, my dad wanted my name to be Marsha and my middle name Mellow, thank goodness I didn’t get stuck with that name! Much love to you, Sheila
My aunt had her boys shoes bronzed. That was popular in the 1940s. My mother was given the name Tinsy Olaphine😱 Her mother died young and my mother went to live with a foster family. They changed moms name to Katheryn Elizabeth. I think she was blessed❤
Bless your Mother Ms. Pat, all those children. She had her hands full. I’m number 6 the baby. I was named after one of my fathers old girlfriends before he met my mother. My mother didn’t mind. She ran out of names when it came to me. Lol. I named my only child after my Mother and Mother in law. Michelina Emma. Enjoy hearing your stories. Stay safe. 🥰🙏🏼✝️
I just love watching u Granny Pat & love listening to your stories. I’m old enough to have 4 grown grandchildren so those bronzed baby shoes have been in my family for generations. Just like u, I’ve wondered many times about the naming of children & why they are actually called what they’re called. When my sister & I were born my grandpa gave us nicknames. Jo was for Wanda & John was for me. Her name stuck but mine didn’t bc my grandpa was the only person that called me that. How I would love to hear him call me John just one more time. Thank u Granny Pat for sharing your beautiful stories with us. May God bless u & keep u always. ❤
Thanks for your video! I wish parents would always think about how the name will impact their kid once they are an adult. A couple I know named their girl Blueberry because they said she is so cute. Some people just don’t make decisions with any thought of practicality.
I couldn’t help but think about the heartbreak & joy your mother went through. She definitely was a strong lady!! Each baby had such a great name.Thank you for sharing ♥️
This is hilarious!!! What a funny story your daughter Jan can tell about herself. My mom is an Elizabeth... but everyone calls her Betty.... I can see Liz or Beth, but where does Betty come from??? Where we live now I can also buy juicy peaches, such a treat, where we used to live farther north, the stores always got the hard ones. And yes the baby shoes are precious.... sweet memory.

Jan Elizabeth is beautiful. And I completely understand. I wanted my Daughter to have an easy, yet beautiful name as well. I had my Daughter in 2008. She’s going to be 15 this October. She’s our only Child. But when was trying to pick out a name for her. Every name I picked wasn’t good enough for my Dad. 😂 Her Papa was not going to let me name her any name that could be picked on in any way! So I remembered a name that I had alway’s loved and remembered in the back of my mind. I got it from the Actress Reese Witherspoon. She named her Daughter Ava. I thought it was the prettiest name and it was short, easy to spell. I knew my Daughter’s Middle name was going to be Mae. That was my Best Friend’s Middle name and I just loved it. So I called my Mom, then my Dad and then my little Brother. They ALL loved the name Ava Mae G. ❤ Little did o know how fast that name spread from Social media… I swear I couldn’t believe that I thought I was going to have a unique Baby name for her. And they stole it. So many Women started naming their Daughter’s Middle name Mae too out of the blue. It was an old name. But I still love her name so much. By the way I really enjoyed your stories about the names of your Family. It’s amazing that your Mom had 13 babies and she was in her 40’s and still had babies. I am 35 almost 36. I’d love to have a Son. And it’s so inspiring hearing about how your Mom kept having babies well into her 40’s! Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤
Middle names had to fit, pull the entire name together. Every girl I knew named Patricia had the middle name ‘Ann’. All of my teachers assumed that was my middle name. When I was little I called myself ‘Pitchy-Pay’. It stuck with my sister’s husband ‘til the day he died. Lots of stories about names!
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 Love that nick name! My Middle name is Suzanne. Ashley Suzanne Cox was my name growing up. You can imagine the silly thing’s Kid’s said about my last name 😂! But My Mom named my Middle name after the Doctor who delivered me. Also my Aunt Sue. ❤
I didn't get to watch this video until today, I was on a mini vacation to see my 2nd daughter and her family in Connecticut. Her name is Patricia! So I definitely think you got the best name out of all your siblings 😉 I had a 2nd cousin that had a name nobody could believe my Aunt Jean gave him. Their last name was Case. She named him Justin! Justin Case. Isn't that crazy! Sadly, he died in a hunting accident with my dad and aunt. I look forward to your next chit chat Pat. Take care and God bless you 🙏❤️😊💜🥰
Justin Case, Attorney at Law. I knew a kid in jr. high named Chester Fields. It would have been just as funny if his last name had been Drawers. I once heard of a stripper who named who used the stage name of Kandy Kane-cute.
I could listen to you talk for hours, Granny Pat. Love your stories. Betty Ruth’s shoes are absolutely precious. Hope you enjoyed those delicious peaches! Yum! 🍑
Granny Pat, have you ever played Super Nintendo? Or Donkey Kong Country on Super Nintendo (1994)? I remember my great grandmother playing thibb bc game with my great aunt Estie (great grandma’s daughter) in about 1998. They loved this game. My Grammy was born in 1926, so she isn’t too far off from your age. She’s been gone awhile now, but we all N remember her and great aunt Estie playing this game until 4am because they were stuck on it. It’s my favorite game now. Aunt Estie is still with No we No we aren’t., but very sick. Grandma passed in 2004. Boy do I miss her. Anyways. Would love to play a round with you. It’s addicting.
Good Morning Granny Pat. I was so excited when I saw a new video from you. Such a wonderful and uplifting way to start my day. I loved the bronzed shoes that belonged to Betty Ruth. I remember when doing that with baby shoes was all the rage. Your Mother certainly went through a lot in her day. Sounds like you had a delicious supper. Beef vegetable soup is one of my favorite things. Have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for bringing so much pleasure to our lives with your stories. Love you, Shirley Duffy from Hanover PA.
I hope you enjoyed your peaches. You tell any stories you would like. There is no problem if you tell one twice. You are an absolute delight. You certainly got the prettiest name of all. Lordy, lordy, 13 children. No wonder she came up with some really interesting names. You enjoy a great day tomorrow.
😂❤🥰💕💕💕 you make me laugh and feel safe and you are sooo cute. I love you grandma Pat. My grandma is named Patricia too. ❤ She named my moms middle name Mae. She is the best grandma in the world. I'm so happy you were recommended to me. ❤❤❤❤❤😊 love all your videos I've seen so far. ❤❤❤❤
My grandmother’s name was Patricia Mae as well. However, I’m not sure if you spelled Mae the same. She died two years ago. She would be 82 in September if she was still alive today. Love your stories! It make me remember my grandma and her stories! ❤
I must add: Jan almost became a ‘Robin’ until I noticed all the girls being born were named Robin. Jan was given Elizabeth for my mother. Also, Jan’s daughter has my mother’s name, Mollie Elizabeth. To me, it is the prettiest name I know. When i started the list of siblings, I was concentrating mostly on the girls. I forgot to include my older brother, Howard, who was killed during WW2. I never knew why he wasn’t given a middle name. My grandfather called him ‘Junebug’. He would tie strings to the legs of junebugs, and Howard would fly them round and round. The nickname ‘Bug’ stayed with him the rest of his life. Regarding the 3 stillborn babies, they were called ‘bluebabies’. This was due to the missmatch rh factor of blood between my parents. It would take awhile to explain, lots of medical terms! The rest of us kids were lucky to have survived. Mother rh O-neg, father, Positive.
RH negative is supposed to be the most rare blood type! Those with that blood type are supposedly very Spiritually gifted! If you look it up on RUclips you’ll learn why your Mother may have had the personalities she did. Sounds like her & your Father were very special. ❤
@@mrsg.9273 O-Negative was very rare at one time. It is the only blood type that cannot mix with other blood types, negative or positive. My husband and I both were O-Neg. Red Cross called him every six weeks for blood donations.
Yes people will name there kids some funny names I worked with a boy his parents named him Bulldozer, Sunshine, Starlight, Rainy, Trenina (tru -nina) Mae is how you say this one these are some of the different names of people that I worked with throughout the years so enjoy your stories keep telling them
I was the last of 5 siblings & 10 yrs after the one before me. Mother was going to name me Avis Inez; my sisters intervened & told mom it was not a good name; so I became Joan LeAnna. Why the two capitals? who knows but that is what my birth certificate says. You made me laugh with the twins named Sooner & Later. By the way, your voice is very soothing & inviting. This is now one of my favorites.
Joan, I have friends named DeAnna and spell it such. I can never like the name Inez because of a woman I know with that name who is mean, hateful, despicable and a know-it-all. It is because of her not because of the name. The very saddest names I’ve ever heard were from when I worked at a Medical School clinic in Louisiana. I registered patients. There was an elderly African American man named Failure. 😢 Then there was a patient who named her twin girls Gonorra and Siphyra. Not sure how she spelled it but they were pronounced amazingly like two STD diagnoses. I just shook my head. Poor babies. Just sharing. Have a good evening.
You are so sweet Pat. Love to hear your story's always ❤️ My favorite pie peach pie 🥧. I remember my parents home we had the biggest peach tree. Unfortunately they had to cut it down. I wished my dad was in the business industry, back then. We could of sold those peach for good and juicy there were back then. Yes peaches 🍑 are so good. And more in peach cobbler yummy 😋 😅 Have a good evening Pat was nice listening to your story about baby naming ❤
Hi Granny Pat. I love your channel and I’m catching up on all your videos. I was going to be named Patricia until my mother saw how short and round I was at birth. She told her mother “I can’t name her Patricia now because everyone will call her fatty Patty!” My grandmother replied “ I’ve always loved the name Linda” so that’s what I got! Keep up the wonderful story telling. You brighten all of our days!
Enjoyed this video about naming babies 👶 My mother named me after Debbie Reynolds because she liked her as an actress…there were a lot of girls named Debbie due to her popularity at the time😊 Love ❤️ to you!
I have been watching you for a couple of months and i love your style and i love you stories growing up. Love pictures behind you especially the top one. I tried the chicken stir fry and we fell in love with it.
I loved this video! Every time I watch your videos, my cat sits next to me and watches you too! My daughter, who is my youngest is expecting a little girl in 3 weeks and we can’t wait! Grand baby #12. Her name will be Kaia. Hope you and Jan are doing well.❤
I went to school with a boy by the name of Evan Evans, I always liked his name. I used to have neighbors that both had the name Jesse. I think they both spelled it the same way, but I can’t remember for sure. She used to get a kick whenever someone would call asking to speak with Jesse. She knew they were calling for her husband, but she always responded with “this is Jesse”. She said they would never know what to say next. She got a kick out of that every time. I named my daughter Ginger. I went to school with a Ginger and I always liked her name. I didn’t know at the time that Ginger was a nickname for Virginia. Love your videos Granny Pat! It wouldn’t bother me one bit if you told the same story twice.
Love watching you granny Pat.. I’m by myself all the time my husband is here retired but I miss the woman talk from mom aunts and cousins all gone now… it’s hard to get out as I’m so crippled with pain from arthritis .. I think the name your mom picked out was beautiful.. my moms name was Oneta bet you never heard that one❤️❤️❤️
Your chit chats are so good, Granny Pat! The baby names video was so true to life. You would not believe the different pronouncements of my name. My sister's name was Patricia, like yours, and usually got Patsy growing up, then Pat in her adulthood. My name passed down from an aunt, Pat's from a nurse friend.
Another interesting topic for discussion…you make everything so interesting and thought provoking. My sister was named Prudence after a favorite fictional character. She hated her name but Mother had given that name lovingly. (Incidentally my Mother’s was named Elizabeth too…She was called Liz by family. Her namesake Elizabeth was called Beth).
Recently found your channel and am watching older videos. My friend Lynn was actually named Gertrude. I was one of the few people she told in her lifetime. Also surprised to hear you say your son's name is Gregory! That is my husband's name!
My maternal grandmother’s name was Lellie Mae. Never heard of the name Lellie. Have you ever heard of that name before? Her half sister’s name was Fanny. When I was about fifteen, I had an orange canary. I named her Fanny. My brother was William Robert. My relatives from VA called him Billy Bob. My father’s was John, Sr. and older brother’s was John, Jr. Dad was called Jack, and my brother was called Mac. And I had a dog that I named Benjamin, some called him Benny. I called him Ben. Names are both fascinating and sometimes crazy.
You are the best ! Thank you so much for making me laugh and cry You are so blessed with your talent of story telling. I want to watch everyone and if you repeat them that's fine with me.
Not sure how your channel came up but I’m glad it did. Totally enjoyed this video topic! Loved the part about the names!! My name is Victoria Anne. I have no clue where the Victoria came from but the Anne was after my Grandma, Bonnie Anne. Grandma named my Mama, her only child, Edwina Lee. The Edwina came from the author of a book Grandma was reading as she neared the end of her pregnancy. My Daddy’s name was Dee Carter. Just plain Dee not short for anything. I went by Vikki most of my 72 years but some family members and close friends called me Torey or Victoria most of my life. The only thing I did not like to be called was Vik. My sister, Donna Elizabeth, always calls me Vik as do all her friends so I’ve finally just let it go. I always felt that Victoria was too old sounding for a little girl, as back in the 50’s it was not a popular name as it is now. Nor Vikki sounds too young for an old woman. 😂 Just can’t win. I think Elizabeth is one of the most beautiful girl’s names of all time. My niece is named Lauren Elizabeth. Beautiful name, I think. I always wished my name had been Julia. I was unable to have children but if I’d had a girl most likely I would have name her Julia just because I love the name. I would have named a boy Richard Carter after my Grandpa I never met and my Daddy. I rem the bronzed shoes. I’m the only one of us three kids who had a pair. They were made into book ends. I’m just rambling so I will close with this, “ have you ever wondered how a 75+ woman named Tiffany or Heather feel?” 😮 Subbing to you from East Tennessee. 🙏🏻💜
I grandmother's name is Clyde joe and if that wasn't bad enough, she named her children, Virginia, twins Bernice and Glenese and 1 son Leeroy and the baby girl name was Nannielou.
Hey beautiful Gran Gran!!!!!! You have the best chit chat’s and stories and recipes and I absolutely love ❤️ everything you do!!!!!! I also love your sense of humor whenever I need a good laugh it seems there’s always something you say that’s so funny I love ❤️ it!!!!!! We all need more laughter in our lives you were talking about telling a story more than once when they say I’ve heard that story before just say the first time I was telling it to you I’m telling it to someone else this time!!!!! I could listen to your stories over and over again they are always interesting ,educational and heartfelt so tell them as many times as you can there will always be some people that didn’t get to hear it the first time!!!!!! Never mind those people that don’t know what a comment box is for Lord help em is all I can say!!!!!! Sending you love 💗 hugs and prayers always ✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
When expecting our daughter we didn't know if it was a boy or girl either. We picked Heather Ayn and Preston for a boy as they both went well with the last name Bradley. We had a girl. She in turn also had a girl and named her Havilande Ayn. ( like Olivia de Haviland). I love giving kids their own unique names. My siblings were all named for Parent, Grandparents & Aunts, except for me.. I got a name that no one in our family tree had but I still didn't like it as I thought is was too old fashioned. Mary Josephine lol now I just go by MJ. Oh and and our family had bronze shoes for 2 of the kids... No idea why only two out of 5 got bronze shoes. lol
My daughter named her daughter my granddaughter, Elizabeth Anne after her grandmother & her great aunt Anne. She was born early very little so her dad called her Peanut!! I hated it. When she got older that name stopped because she got very tall. I would say her name isn’t peanut its Elizabeth and that is what we all call her! She is 18 now.I always wonder how years ago large families survived. They grew their own food😁
It's so funny that you bring up this topic. My dad's mom was not the best when it came to naming kids either. A real mixed bag. Her oldest son was named Donald, not bad. But then her second son was named Orville-yikes! Now along comes my dad and he got hung with the name LaVern-she may as well have named him Sue. Of course he went by Vern throughout his life. She finally had a girl but unfortunately my grama named her Doris. I guess that was the most feminine name she could think of. As a blessing she named her last boy David. My grama's real first name was Hannah-a lovely name in my estimation. However, she hated that name and so went by Helen-not horrible but not as pretty as Hannah. When my mom told my grama that she was going to name me Amy, after one of the characters in Little Women, (and also short and sweet), my grama thought it was an awful name. My mom needed to find a short name for me because my last (maiden) name was a long, German name, hard to pronounce. I've always wondered about my grama's choice of names but now I know that she was not the only one who had trouble naming their kids. I've always loved the name Amy and it means beloved in French so thank you, mom.
I really enjoyed this about how people come up with names for babies. I’ve often wondered the same as you. My mom always chose names that could only have a nickname,, never could understand that one 😂

Your dinner sounds delicious 😋
It was!
I could listen to you talk for hours, Granny Pat. Love your stories. Betty Ruth’s shoes are absolutely precious. Hope you enjoyed those delicious peaches! Yum! 🍑
Enjoyed your video!! I never liked my name! My 9 year old sister named me after my great grandmother Mary Jane Dobson! She was Irish ☘️!
It’s a simple, easy flow name. I can’t remember confusing names.
How true!!! People sometimes pick the funniest names for their own children😂. Loved this chat, granny Pat❤
How about "Hortense"? No offense intended to anyone with that name., but in this day and age, how can it be shortened without sounding vulgar.
Thank goodness nowadays you can change your name so quickly if one wants to.
Hey Granny Pat! It’s me Ashley watching from Michigan. ❤
And what’s your middle name?
Suzanne ❤️
Thanks again Patricia! Loved it!❤
I love chit chat
Thanks for the chat, it was wonderful grandma i love your stories, have a wonderful night 🤗
My grandmother’s name was Patricia Mae as well. However, I’m not sure if you spelled Mae the same. She died two years ago. She would be 82 in September if she was still alive today. Love your stories! It make me remember my grandma and her stories! ❤
Patricia Faye.
Oh, I’m sorry, I heard wrong, maybe because it rhymes 😃Thanks for clarifying, I feel silly that I didn’t catch that. Have a great night! ❤️
@@crystallight1269 My sister was Bena Mae.
@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 so at least I got the Mae right, but wrong person. 😊
Love listening to your stories.
God bless you
I must add: Jan almost became a ‘Robin’ until I noticed all the girls being born were named Robin.
My granny had a sister that was a blue baby and died at 12. Her name was Mildred.
Granny Pat, my middle name is Faye also. But my first name is Dewanna - so you can imagine what all I've been called 😂
Love to hear your story's always ❤️
My favorite pie peach pie 🥧.
I remember my parents home we had the biggest peach tree. Unfortunately they had to cut it down. I wished my dad was in the business industry, back then. We could of sold those peach for good and juicy there were back then. Yes peaches 🍑 are so good. And more in peach cobbler yummy 😋 😅
Have a good evening Pat was nice listening to your story about baby naming ❤
I think I didn't the door thing too!
Fatty Patty, whew! I could be called that today!
Love your paintinga
Enjoyed this video about naming babies 👶 My mother named me after Debbie Reynolds because she liked her as an actress…there were a lot of girls named Debbie due to her popularity at the time😊 Love ❤️ to you!
I sure enjoyed your musings, wish I had talked with my folks about their name choices. I laughed out loud several times 😅
You are so easy to listen to and I love your stories. I feel as if I’m visiting with a good friend. Thank you. Just wondering, do you have any pets?
No pets! Children all have pets.
Loved your story❣️
I have been watching you for a couple of months and i love your style and i love you stories growing up. Love pictures behind you especially the top one. I tried the chicken stir fry and we fell in love with it.
I love the pictures hanging on the wall behind you. ❤
So do I!
How l love you an jan
I loved this video! Every time I watch your videos, my cat sits next to me and watches you too!
My daughter, who is my youngest is expecting a little girl in 3 weeks and we can’t wait! Grand baby #12. Her name will be Kaia. Hope you and Jan are doing well.❤
I love the chat! Tk u !❤️💚💜🇦🇺
I totally agree! They named my dad like that and called me by my middle name!! 😢❤
It wouldn’t bother me one bit if you told the same story twice.
love this , I kept waiting to hear if you were going to say Robert then called Bobby,Richard , Dick lol
I was getting a little carried away with Names! How about ‘George George’?
Love watching you granny Pat.. I’m by myself all the time my husband is here retired but I miss the woman talk from mom aunts and cousins all gone now… it’s hard to get out as I’m so crippled with pain from arthritis .. I think the name your mom picked out was beautiful.. my moms name was Oneta bet you never heard that one❤️❤️❤️
You are right, never heard that one. It certainly sets you apart from all others.
I'm living in Indiana since September 11, 1988. Originally from Dallas . Can't remeber if I ever said that. hahaha Great stories !!!
Your chit chats are so good, Granny Pat! The baby names video was so true to life. You would not believe the different pronouncements of my name. My sister's name was Patricia, like yours, and usually got Patsy growing up, then Pat in her adulthood. My name passed down from an aunt, Pat's from
a nurse friend.
My mother’s name was Dorothy. She was called Duck for 90 years!
Recently found your channel and am watching older videos. My friend Lynn was actually named Gertrude. I was one of the few people she told in her lifetime. Also surprised to hear you say your son's name is Gregory! That is my husband's name!
Your apartment is decorated beautifully 😊
Thank you so much for making me laugh and cry
You are so blessed with your talent of story telling.
Enjoyed hearing all the names . Some are very unusual. Good chit chat today . Love your videos ❤
Love you Pat and your stories! This one about the names was so entertaining!
This story made me laugh! Also love the setting and the ticking clock sound, it’s very pleasant 😌
No idea why only two out of 5 got bronze shoes. lol
Mixed vegetable soup and coleslaw and cornbread corn on cob i think you said oh that sounds so so delicious
so so sorry about the passing of your dear sister know you have a special angel watching over you
There's a You Tuber who has an ugly duck named Jethro. Good name for a duck but not a person!
My mom named me Susan because
Her name (Shirley) was never used
In school books. Or that was
What she told me.
My mama ate peaches in a bowl of milk with a little bit of sugar sprinkled over them, Patty Faye!😘
