- Would you believe me if I told you that there is actually lore in the sims 4? It took a long time to get there, but there is!
In this video I’m going to be talking about every single family in the sims 4 and how the lore in the game has evolved over time.
It’s safe to say that when the sims 4 first came out, the lore was severely lacking, I would even say non-existent, but as time has gone by the sims families have gradually introduced more lore into the game.
I would love to know in the comments what you think about the evolution of lore in the sims 4 and whether it is enough now? If every future world pack had the same level of lore that was in Snowy Escape and Cottage Living would we be happy with that?

I've always been the type of player to make a whole family and design their whole house and then get bored immediately and do it all over again... but that's less of a preference now and more of a necessity. every sim acts exactly the same way; traits and emotions do nothing, nobody knows anybody else, you can switch your whole lifes aspiration whenever you want, so there's no point of anything... so we buy every expansion and still need mods to do anything fun smh

@@brooklynsizemore2372 yep you're exactly right. I have phases where I can't enjoy the gameplay because I have no sense of direction. But when I have a story in mind I just play it out. It's so hard to lay all the groundwork to tell a story like that though. Hence why it'd be nice to have some families that already know each other.
My sims got married and hired a caterer. Agnes Crumplebottom was the caterer for some reason. She whacked them with her purse during their own wedding for kissing. It was wild.

I lured Victor Feng into my basement and removed the door. So now he's wordworking and painting for me to make me money while I just take care of chickens all day. :)

I keep trying to do this with random Sims but they just clip out and disappear when they want to go home. One sim , Eliza pancake, stayed for 12 hours. Started a painting, wept, broke the toilet, wept and then just dipped

I think EA is always trying to justify their laziness by saying they give more freedom to the players that way so they can make their own stories, which is BS, because we always can either way. The lack of memories, relationships and history between families is what simmers find so extremely dissappointing and what gives the Sims 4 a constant sense of emptiness that the previous games (with less graphics and resources) didn't have. I am glad to see they finally get it and are tackling the issue in the last expansion packs.
The game felt so dry because none of the townies knew each other but I’m glad EA is at least putting “effort” into lore if I’m not mistaken

Right, people make great stories with the Sims 2 and 3 sims even though they had backstories already.
When I first bought the Vampires pack, I remember creating a vampire sim and I played with him and his wife so long that when I checked other townies’ home, all houses were empty because they all died 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀

I wish the sims 4 had the same kind of lore like the pleasant family. It was so funny to have that whole scripted sequence of Daniel cheating. I long for those days. Pre determined relationships in the sims 4 hardly even make sense most of the time.

The Sims 4 lore had SO much potential if they were pre-established properly. They're actually interesting however some stories cannot just work because of the lack of such, or the lack of stakes or features being implied in their situation. Stories like Naoki Ito's mission to modernize Komorebi has NO impact with the lack of Real Estate and property existence, and for Megumi there isn't even a career for snowboarding how can she be a gold medalist???

I literally have been looking for more custom careers just so my “adventure loving” sims have jobs that make sense besides the generic athletic career 🤦🏽♀️

I love the way Sims look in Sims 4. It's such a shame the game is a bit boring. Sims 2 had the best worlds and families. Sims 3 Supernatural was amazing tho...I was obsessed with having a town like Once Upon a Time basically. It was fun.

I grew to love the way the sims look in the sims 4. I remember hating the cartoon look when the game first came out but I couldn’t go back to the sims 2 or 3… feels like watching a RUclips video in 390p

the bffs actually have more lore then people realize they are based on 3 sims with whole backstories and multiple games , if you haven't guessed yet they come from the mysims universe
When I was becoming an actress in sims 4 there was this gig that features the crumplebottoms. It gives a bit of a summary of their story.
There is a vlad painting with SO MUCH LORE and I think you can see him pre-vampire and what I assume to be a family member or wife
One little detail I enjoyed: The Delgato's cat is the father of one of the Lynx cats.
Hmm.. and “gato” means cat in Spanish. Was that suppose to be a clue? Lol

the sims 4 backstories are actually quite interesting! it’s just the fact that they didn’t go the extra step if you know what i’m saying.(in the earlier worlds/packs)

Usually, alternate timelines don’t seem cohesive to the previous iterations of a series, but I believe this one may be. The Sims 4 being in an alternate timeline fits well with the theory that after being abducted, Bella Bachelor was sent back in time to TS3, writing books like the infamous, “Where’s Bella”, thus changing the future so that she is never abducted. TS4, I believe, is that future.
Disappointing, though, that they didn’t put more into this sort of lore stuff and continued stories from the beginning
The best storytelling ever was TS2. And it has the best storytelling/photo feature. In TS4 all shots for the entire game are dumped together, not by household or even by world. So off game, I have to make individual files for each save and move them in and out to maintain some form of order.
I'm pretty sure Morgyn is also The sims first premade Non-binary sim.

Morgyn doesn’t have genitalia whatsoever. Is set as masculine build, feminine clothing preference and pregnancy is set as neither.

Also In the cottage living world, Kim Goldbloom who owns the grocery stand which is across the street from Agatha’s, has a crush on Michael bell. And the teenage daughter of the Watson family has some romance stuff going on with the mayors son.
I really appreciate you doing this video! I am in the process of rebuilding the Sims 4 worlds for my own personal save file and you saved me a bit of time in understanding the relationships and lack there of between the pre-made Sims that come in the game. I can see that to make the gameplay of the future for me more fun, I need to create relationships between the Sims that I place. 💜💜💜

There is SOME lore in Windenburg and Brindleton Bay. However the lore can be found in the community lots rather than the premade households. Chryllsim has some great videos on it.
You forgot Kim Goldgloom who apparently has a thing for Michael Bell and also you forgot about the Mayor's son, Rahul who wanted to venture life outside of henford-o-bagley but didn't coz he doesn't want to leave behind his mom.

I have all the packs but I don’t know any of those families 😑 I know the vampires and of course I know the townies in Willow creek and oasis springs and that’s it. This video was helpful
I bought the first 3 games and was stunned to learn there was so much lore!
In our game, our adult "son" met Munch while on a date with several other women. He immediately fell in love and ended up marrying her and having a beautiful baby together. They abandoned the oldest, got the middle in line, and her youngest ended up loving our "son" and his little brother lol

Venessa is obsessed with my sim Jasmine. She calls multiple times a day and shows up around my sims house all the time! She even got Jazmine struck by lightning… 😅

I think Siobhan is actually dating that Romeo guy when the game starts. Though, to be fair, aside from that, Windenburg doesn't have much else in terms of inter-household relationships. It's one of the reasons I'm trying to make a "Full World" save - so that I can start "new" saves without having to constantly fix relationships/skills/clothing. Windenburg does have "hidden" households though - the ghost couple of the Von Haunte Estate. The mechanics for them is kind of weird. I don't think they ever expected people to do anything with them, such as move them in - they don't have any relationships or last names (despite the lore actually giving them one) and they just duplicate if you move them into another household.

I never noticed this until your video, but I just realized Catarina Lynx is a tiny, itty-bitty nod to the Sims 2: Pets expansion. I just looked it up on the Wiki and yeah, this is known, so I'm not being all original here, lol. But I thought I'd share that someone made a tiny, tiny effort there.
When you get Sims 2 Pets, there's a sim in the bin (under occupied houses, not the family bin) called Tara Cat who looks pretty dang similar to Catarina. She lives alone, has light skin, green eyes, red hair, and is wearing a hat. It's just that she has three kitties instead of 4.
Tara is also the daughter of Ginia Cat from the Sims: Unleashed expansion, so there's a Sims 1 connection for her. That has nothing to do with Catarina, lol - just adding in that trivia.
But hey, at least someone on the team remembered Sims 2 lore.

The stories and relationships they give to the families isn't related to the game at all and doesn't affect anything. For example, if summer and liberty are desperately in love with travis, doesn't it make sense that when travis flirts with one of them she would accept it?
i wanna note that the sims not showing up in the relationship box doesn't mean they never talked cause my sim can talk to any sim but until i click and suggest friendly introduction that's when the relationship shows up.
4:54 candy is a character from the game my sims which I loved playing as a kid! So cool, I just noticed this!
I like to think that the sims 4 timeline is connected to its predecessors', but something really crazy happened that scrambled and messed up the whole timeline, it is a pretty crazy story but... if you are interested... it is below: 😁
"Alexander Goth grew with a huge trauma of having his mother gone missing, his father died and his sister moved on, but he never really overcame the trauma, so, he decided to become a scientist as an adult and figure out a time traveling machine that so he could travel to the past and save his mother before she goes missing. He was sort of successful, well, he failed a few times, but no mistake was worse than what he accounted as his hit, he arrived in the exact night his mother went missing, but... he got waay to close the action, Nina, Dina and Don were working together to get rid of Bella, and he arrived right in the middle with his time machine, but, the time machine was too close making Dom, Nina and Dina vanish into the time portal, but, Alexander made the machine to pass at most, 2 people, but Dom, Dina and Nina were 3 and that made the portal unstable, they were thrown 50 years at the past with no memory, Nina and Dina were thrown in Barnacle Bay and Dom, at Riververview. An inportant, thing I, on purpose, dind't mention is, the machine Alexander created is the same time machine we see in The Sims 3 ITF, but the future scientists improved so it could support more than two people, but other than that it works just the same (this info will help you to imagine what comes next better)... instead of opening a portal and closing right after, the machine created a portal that didn't close and that portal started creating a storm, and opening little holes in space and time, lots of things that weren't there suddenly appeared and others that were suddenly disappeared, scared, Alexander hugged his mom and said that everything would be ok, they wold be safe, right after he did this, they both entered the machine that, instead of taking them a little to the future, took them to an alternate future one that Alexander always wished for, he was a kid again but remembered everything, his family was all together and there was no disagreement between the families (there was no relationship at all actually) they were in The Sims 4 timeline"
Btw, this tory also explains what's up with that ship that fell in Oasis Landing that the Time Traveler dude couldn't track when appeared, only that it was "somewhen" between The Sims 3 present and the future (Oasis Landing future) the ship appeared after Alexander left with bella it had all the schematics of the future Alexander created accidentally for him and his family (that's why it has The Sims 4 related stuff in it)...
Anyway, if you don't like a crazy story or just didn't enjoy this, you probably also didn't even make it here, so if u did, thank you very much, I do appreciate it 😁😁😁
During my new play through I am trying to keep in mind lore when it comes to my made Sims Vs Pre Installed Sims. Dont want to wreck someone else life.
Great video! I love learning about the pre-made Sims characters. The animation of smelling the air that started with Bust The Dust is the woooorst. Everyone is out there sniffing away. So ridiculous.
Since I don't even have like half of these worlds yet, this was very cool getting to meet all the families & know everything about them 🙃but I don't know what is up with EA having so many unusual names for these newest pre-made families that a lot of people have trouble pronouncing. I usually just use cheats for those hard, crazy names & make them normal
As a lover of the premade households and someone who plays rotationally on a regular basis it’s extremely annoying that EA didn’t put in any effort into the lore whatsoever 😞😞
I like the idea of pre-made same-sex couples being added instead of having to play through generations just to get two guys or two gals to share an on-screen kiss together.
I love how you (Whiny Brit) and FGG and Plumbella use colorful words.. you's say it for how it is instead of beating around the bush like most Simmers do.

Whiny Brit, I agree with you that the storyline, memories, and relationships between the pre-made sims in each town are lacking in the sims 4. Previous sims games had more spunk and lore, but as usual, the newest sims4 game has some amazing qualities, but there are some things that were better in the previous games. I wish all the good things from each game could be put into the sims4. But, sims addicts can't be choosers, though I have thought about going back and playing the sims3 when I miss the more interwoven story lines, I have yet to do so.

There's also Kim who has a crush on Michael. He knows about it, but he's not interested.

There actually was suppose to be connections to the Bro and Fryes households in Windenburg. Sergio and Siobhan are suppose to be in a relationship but nope, nothing! Some of my newer saves that have actually established the fact they're dating without player intervention but who knows, its the Sim 4.
The fact that if we were talking about the Sims 2/3 30 minutes would not be enough to fully talk about ONE Family's lore
even though the townies are boring when it comes to their lore i do love when they take control of their lives behind the scenes like i have a save file and Judith Ward moved out of her mansion and got married and now lives in oasis springs Michael Bell also moved out of his cottage got married and adopted two dogs and another townie adopted 2 cats 2 toddlers and a dog like idk i love when they have their own little lives 😌
(also one of these days i'm going to just play as one of the premade sims instead of making my own and see how that goes...)

I want a do-over with the original Sims games. I played 1 and 2 and was not aware of lore or pre-existing relationships. I remember the Goth family, but I never played them or interacted with those Sims. Do people really play pre-made families? I thought we were all creating our own families, same as how I play Sims 4 now. The most annoying thing to me is if my Sims do meet a Sim that I didn't create that I think would be worth pursuing a relationship with, they are usually married. I keep adding single Sims from the gallery so there are actual Sims to hook up with. Then sometimes, by the time they show up, they are already married.

Very interesting 😌 however, just thought I’d make a comment here to add that I recently learned that the Roomies family in Oasis Springs was loosely based off of the American television show called “New Girl” 😭🤯 had no idea about this until someone made a post about it somewhere on social media and within that post, another simmer confirmed that a sim guru or creator had actually confirmed this too. Just thought I’d add that little interesting tid-bit of information 😇 for anyone who cares. 😅
My first sim was an athlete with a dog. No friends, some video games, on days off from work she'd go to the beach with her loyal pup and play all day. What a lovely life.

I dont think we should pat the Sims team on the back for getting better when they ran it into the gound in the first place. You guys have gone bloody lace when you already had a amazing blueprint that was Sims 2. Small details in both bios, relationships and details in general. We should expect far better than what we get in TS4 since they already have proven that they have the ability.
I like that you get to make your own story for your sims.
I've always been curious what would happen if you took a pregnant sim and cheated to have them abducted would they still have the original baby or the alien baby or both?
Sims that can get pregnant through trying for a baby can't have a baby through being abducted. Just the sims that can make others pregnant.

One time, when I tried playing with mods off, Lilith Vatore snuck into my Sim's household at night and drank his blood. LILITH, NOT VLAD, FREAKING LILITH. She's got some secret life not mentioned in the lore. Lol.

Windenburg Sims do know other Sims in town. But if you don’t have them marked as Played, the relationships in the household are subject to culling. You can mark them all as played before you reach the 3am culling time and they’ll stick. The wiki has their starting relationships under each sim. I think relationship culling is going to take the wind out of the lore update’s sails.
