- The Alabama-LSU rivalry has emerged as one of the biggest games of the season, and the 2012 edition did not disappoint. LSU's offense, much maligned for most of the season, played its best game of the year as it put up over 400 yards of offense on Alabama's vaunted defense. The Crimson Tide would not be denied, however, as they fought back from a 17-14 late-4th quarter deficit to win the game 21-17.
12 year old me was at this game. One of the best days of my life. I cried after that final drive of course, but being part of that crowd that particular night is something I’ll never forget
Just a damn good football game. Easily one of the top five games in this series.
LSU was so loaded on offense that year. Unfortunately Les Miles was there to hamper them from ever reaching their potential.

It sucks that this might be the most electric Death Valley has ever been and it ended in heart break. It makes it very difficult to go back and watch.
Please pardon my extensive soapbox but I can imagine the pain. While I’ll admit to being anti-SEC in the past, LSU was always one of few likable teams and my heart always went out to y’all with those disappointing losses to Bama. I wanted OK State to win it all in 2011 and my observation has always stood that each system is rigged based on favoritism and profitability. Bama didn’t deserve a rematch and it wasn’t a raw deal for LSU that suggests they were incapable of beating Bama twice, but it was pointless for LSU to have to even be threatened with a “not impossible” upset loss in the SECCG while Bama gets to rest and prepare more. While it’s obviously not permissible, the fairest decision would’ve been to rematch them in the conference title (especially considering the majority seemed convinced LSU and Bama were the best teams in the country). This prevents another conference champion’s capability from being prejudged and dismissed. Bama benefitted from losing the regular season game more than LSU benefited from winning it. That’s not hard for anyone to understand. It’s not unfair that Bama got a rematch, it’s unfair how they were given grace.
Personally, I would’ve rather gotten shutout to my rival 42-0 in a conference championship rematch than lose the National championship 21-0 in my home state to them. Then to come that close to getting revenge later that year with home field advantage again (and they’ve beaten my team at home more times than we’ve won in the series) would’ve caused psychological damage because those are among the most meaningful games in the series. 🤦🏽♂️😂 I’m just glad I don’t get so emotionally involved in sports anymore.
Essentially, Bama’s rematch win didn’t prove anything that we didn’t know prior to the first outcome (that these teams are capable of beating each other). It didn’t prove that LSU’s road win was a fluke by any means. Anyway, glad to see you all get over that 8-game misery and find recent success with a favorable outlook currently.
That Copeland catch/run towards the end of the 3rd will forever be in my memory. As Verne used to say, “ONIONS!”😂

This was my first football game I watched, one hell of a game
Pay no attention to it. It just sucks to some people to see the same team achieving greatness over and over. And I'm not joking, I'm serious. A wise man once said: One, is the loneliest number. Everyone wants to be jack the giant killer. And everyone wants to see number 1 go down. And that, is why Alabama deserves props. Not matter how much I hate to say it, they truly are the best team right now. And not because they have 15 national championships, but because they won the last one.

That's not luck that's good defense. I can use your logic and say had Alabama not fumbled the ball in the red zone it could have been 28 points for bama so even if lsu did score those 3 field goals it would have still been 28-26 for bama.
This game will never not hurt. 21-0 was bad but this game set in course what would be a string of not being able to get over the mental hump that was Bama for the following 7 years until Burrow and the boys lit them in Bryant Denny.

After watching this, Bama-Georgia, and Bama-A&M, I conclude that Alabama's blowout win over a piss-poor Notre Dame team made people alot more infatuated with them than they should be.

Jake The Rake LSU is a team I've always respected and always get nervous about Alabama playing. The games are always close with the exception of the national title game and in 2013 when LSU fell apart in the 2nd half. I hope you have a good weekend man.

Why? Les is second winningest coach in LSU besides charlie mac. Dont get me wrong he had faults but 05 to 2015 Les averaged 10 wins a year and beat Saban twice.. nobody beats saban every year til the man retires.... I've been a tiger fan for almost 30 years and the Les era was fun as shit to watch compared to dinardo era... coach o 2019 great but coach o went ole miss on lsu 11-11 the next 2 years was a no go for me.. kelly will win at LSU no doubt he wins everywhere. Hard to go undefeated with Notre dame but he didnt have 4 n 5 star studs... kelly will have 4 n 5 stars all over at LSU. might actually be a les miles 2.0 as long as he dont meddle in the offense LSU will win a ton..

Alabama lost in 2011 to LSU. 3 teams had to lose their games for Alabama to make it to the National Championship. Just by luck, all 3 of those teams lost, I mean seriously, who would of ever thought Oklahoma State would lose to Nevada state? And it went to overtime. I call that luck. And on top of that, Alabama already played LSU and didn't win their conference. Yet got to play. I think last year was luck as well. Oregon and Kansas State had to lose and Bama was automatically chosen. Luck.

Looking back we can easily see how the shutout in New Orleans shifted the psychological edge of this game and series. It’s a much taller order for LSU to avenge a shutout (in New Orleans) at Bryant-Denny West for redemption than it is for them to extend a 3 or 4 game win streak in Bryant-Denny West. Then again maybe I’m the only person who sees it that way.

You're right. It was Iowa State, but you understood what I was saying. And in 2011 missing 5 field goals that are completely out of range is not luck. It's poor coaching. Furthermore, Stanford(9-0) lost to Oregon. Oklahoma state(10-0) lost to Iowa State. (Obviously lucky for bama.) And despite that, bama jumped to the nc above those two. Same thing in 2012, oregon lost then kansas did. Bama automatically gets the shot. LUCK. 14-0 is not luck, they did not go 14-0 they got lucky.
