He was a beautiful man. This moves my heart. The song can reach a spiritual person no matter the creed. Great reaction!
I am really interested with your comment if you don't mind please friendship with me 🥰 😘🥺
That very distinctive guitar playing that lets you know, immediately, that this is the legendary George Harrison! Such a beautiful song, to be interpreted any way we want. Or just to enjoy the precious sound. He had been spending a lot of time in India, so he might have been speaking Hindi? It’s not important. Just enjoy. Wonderful choice Jayy! I’m proud to have joined your family today. 🌺✌️
That’s Eric Clapton on lead guitar. They were best friends for a while
@@ThemanfromZambodia On My Sweet Lord it was George Harrison playing guitar. Clapton played lead guitar on The Beatles song - While my guitar gently weeps, which George wrote.
George grew up in a Catholic family but wasn't particularly religious, he had a religious awakening in 1966 through Indian spirituality, figures like Paramahansa Yogananda and Swami Vivekananda influenced him as did his friendship with Ravi Shankar. Vivekananada taught that all religions are all just different pathways to God and that is what George is showing by switching between Hallelujah and Hare Krishna these are just different ways of expressing devotion to God.
If more people understood this concept (which I share) perhaps wars/hate crimes over religion wouldn’t exist.
har har mahadev har har gurudev thank you for this words kind sir
The Hindu Gods ( demons ) are NOT an alternative path to God . George was wrong....as are you

The weird mix of joy and sadness I feel listening to Beatles’ music is overwhelming sometimes.
My Sweet George ❤❤❤❤
He was handsome!! Loved all his music. And his beautiful melodic voice fit who he was. George Harrison was just - something else. A special man.
This was the first number 1 hit song that any members of the Beatles had after the Beatles broke up.
...and the greatest (my vote) !
I have always loved that fact especially since this is a beautiful hymn.
George wrote a lot of great Beatles songs. Like Something, Here Comes The Sun and many more.
Frank Sinatra thought 'Something' was the greatest love song he ever heard.
George is my fav Beatle. John is omg. George, the quiet Beatle, was a master guitarist, and sang from his soul.
Best reaction to any song I've seen period.
Ringo Starr "Photograph" & "It Don't Come Easy"...Classics.
“Hare Krishna, Hare Rama” is part of a religious mantra in Hindu that calls upon God’s energy and to dispel evil. (Simplistic description.)
Jayy, two songs written and sung by George that are a must hear:
Something
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
You heard it right. The background singers are singing to the Hindu gods Krishna and Rama. George was exploring religions and spirituality. The Beatles did spend time in India learning about Hinduism. The experience affected George and John more than Paul or Ringo.
George went on a Deep Spiritual Quest. He went to India and studied under the Maharishi Meshi Yogi.
The "Language" was the names of Indian Religious Figures.
Beautiful song of hope!!! ♥️🙏
I am really interested with your comment if you don't mind please friendship with me 🥰 😘🥺
George Harrison "What Is Life"...Nuff Said.
HI Jayy... he is singing praise to God -- first in Hebrew (halelujiah), and
he is also singing of Buddhism. And the language is Indian (sanskrit).
And, yes, we all feel that connection when we listen to this.
Peace to you, and I appreciate your sincerity.
Keep on keepin' on.
Thank you for posting
I'm sure George is up in heaven singing to our lord praise you for writing and singing such a beautiful song 🎵
You got reason!!, he was handsome, but too... very talented, charismatic, sweet, unique, he was great, and even I without be a believer; for me this song is very beautiful. I don´t know, I think that when someone that believes in some religion says to you: "God bless you", it feels beautiful, at least to me
PS: Maybe you have already reacted or listened to "All Those Years Ago", a song by him too, but if not... you should do it, that song is also beautiful, the beautiful lyric is. The song was wroten for Lennon after he died
"The background vocals" - they're singing some other names for "Lord" ... in other denominations and religions ... ♡

My favorite George Harrison solo songs are "What is Life" and I Got My Mind Set on You"! Love George Harrison he us my favorite Beatle! Very talented n underrated artist !
George didn’t write Got my mind set on You.
When I first heard " My Sweet Lord " , it was touching my soul spiritually and I felt so peaceful and it would bring tears to my eyes . I was confused by background and didn't understand until I heard about when the Beatles went to India and their whole life changed when they came home . When I listen to the end , I just kind of keep repeating My Sweet Lord instead of whatever they were saying . All and all , it was a beautiful song and I can see from your reaction that it touched your heart . 🙏❤😊
Thanks, Jayy! George was always my favorite... you should also check out some of his work with the "Traveling wilburys" - which included George, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne (if you don't know Jeff, he was the lead singer/composer for ELO) -- appreciate all of your reactions!
Beautiful song. RIP George.
Quoted from 'The Beatles Bible' :
'Hidden among the backing vocals towards the end of the song was the entire text of Vedic Sanskrit prayer.
Gururbrahmaa Guru visnuh, Gururdevo Mahesvarah
Gurussaakshaat Param Brahma
Tasmai Shri Gurave Namhah
The prayer translates as: “The teacher is Brahma, the teacher is Visnu, the teacher is the Lord Mahesvarah. Verily the teacher is the supreme Brahman, to that respected teacher I bow down.” Harrison would have delighted in masquerading such an elaborate message of devotion amid the otherwise simple incantations.'
George was always quite spiritual, and got into the Hare Krishna movement , following the Beatles retreat to stay with the Maharishi in India 💙✊
In 1967 The Beatles, their wives, and a few friends, including Mick Jagger, went to India for a month looking for enlightenment, vacation, and rest, without fans all over them for a little while. George was fascinated, more than the others, by Indian philosophy, religion, and music. He helped introduce sitar master Ravi Shankar and Indian classical music to a western audience, used Indian instruments on Beatles songs, and studied everything he could. Harrison said that the Hindi words of this song were just another way of saying “Hallelujah”, was talked into releasing this song, and was a little uncomfortable about it because it was a private prayer of his. Then it went to #1!
Sanskrit, NOT Hindi. ☝️
😇 सत्यमेव जयते! 😇
I always get taken back every time I hear this great song from one of my favorite Beatles.
Such a spiritual song! This song deeply moves me. I feel this song snaps me out of my ego identity and reminds me of the connection I once had with God source, of pure love, understanding and acceptance and i want that again so badly it makes me both incredibly sad and happy :)) I really feel this one!!
The biggest unsung hero of the band, of the 60s, of the various movements, and of just being a kind and decent human. I don't share his religion, but his journey within in, that he expressed through music, was such a gift to humanity, it creates the sort or reverence for him, that he felt for God.
Still puts tears in my eyes after so long.
watching this made me think/realize George Harrison has been gone for 20+yrs. has it been that long??!! wow
when the world lost John, it was, we still have three more forever yeah it hurt
It is hard to believe and it hurts. He left us this beautiful music and lots of good memories.
To me, it is an expression of the longing to connect with a higher power. I think that is why it resonates with so many people.
Not really religious, but still ♥ this song!
you picked up the messages he was trying to convey and yes those chants were indian Hindu but first started out as western chrtistian hallelujuas. One of his messages was that longing to find God or a higher power is universal. it is a hypnotic tune for sure, one my favorites.
My understanding is that it was a Vedic prayer in Sanskrit, the spiritual language of India.
@@williampearson9679 could have been, not an expert other than I read it was Indian chants ...
"One of his messages..."? I agree, spot on! "Hallelujah", "Hare Krishna"...all expressed through the universal language of music. It's a shame so many use religion to divide us; George is strongly suggesting we are more alike than we are different.
Strange thing: I've heard this song hundreds of times, and I never, ever though to call it "hypnotic," but I did think that exact word during this video. And here is your comment calling it hypnotic as well!
Great reaction, picking up on so many things on just the first listen.

Thanks Jayy for listening to these old timers…..
The backing vocals transitioning between Halleluiah, Hare Krishna, and Dalai Lama, while George repeats "My Sweet Lord" is a beautiful admission that all the new things he was learning in India, were all just God, from a different point of view. Is there one god, or is God all gods, or is god within us? Who knows but these harmonies are amazing and the melody is well...heavenly.
Not Dalai Lama. That bit is "Hare Rama". Rama is another Hindu figure. Like Krishna he is an avatar of the god Vishnu.

Hi Jayy, a bit of information for you about this song. When The Beatles broke up there was talk in which one of them was going to be the first to have a number one hit on the charts. Well George was the first one to have a number one song in the US and all over the world.. It did not take long for him to do it.
Harrison is the goat 🐐
George Harrison
"Give me Love, Give Me peace on Earth"
Beautiful song. Thank you!
Ringo and George are my favorite Beatles.
RIP George. Jim
When you get some free time, you REALLY need to check out a live version with Billy Preston. This is after George's passing, and kind of a celebration of his life. Eric Clapton, George's son, Paul and Ringo, and a bunch others. Billy Preston puts some soul into this one.
Another language says "Hare Rama", "Hare Krishna" etc. - George Harrison (and, thanks to him, all of the Beatles) was at one point under huge influence of Indian religion, culture, spirituality.
Hits you in the feels
Did you notice how long it took before the drums kicked in? I remember hearing this song on the radio on the way home from church back when I was a little kid. That slide guitar really stood out and so did the hallelujah chorus. A decade or so later I played guitar in the youth choir at church and my buddy in the choir and me tried to slip this song into the program but the choir director caught it and told us no. The hare-krishna bits were a step too far for him I suppose. We played an instrumental bit from Pink Floyd instead without telling him and he never knew the difference. Harrison was taken to court over "My Sweet Lord" on the accusation that he plagiarized "He's So Fine" by the Chiffons for this song. He lost the case because the similarities between the songs are clear, but the ruling was that the plagiarism was subconscious so he retained his reputation, legally, but the man was a saint so it hardly mattered in the end. I blame that whole mess on Phil Spector anyway. Check out The Chiffons "He's So Fine" for comparison.
please do more from George: give me love give me peace on earth, what is life, if not for you (a bob Dylan cover,) fish on the sand, and a great underrated ballad "learning how to love you"
Spiritual seeker from day 1 of his musical journey. 😍 He wrote, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" tht was performed by Tom Petty, Ray Orbison, Prince, Ringo and George's son on a concert/show honoring George and his legendary music. Check out Billy Preston doing his own tune, "That's The Way God Planned It" in George's benefit Concert for Bangladesh. 🔥 Love your always genuine sensitivity and on target reactions. "Hare Krishna" is a mantra - I'm sure someone will explain further below. 😌

@@KarenLWhiting Okay. Thanks.
Very perceptive. The background vocals are chanting the names of gods in the Hindu religion which he was becoming fascinated with. He became interested in Indian music and though that interested in Hindu religion and meditation after participating in teachings with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi along with the other Beatles. George is the only one who stuck with it for the rest of his life.
Honestly, this song has a way of taking you to a place. I love it and listen to it when I am feeling a bit lost.

This song! Oh my! Jayy, so happy your discovering all things Beetles and the amazing solo careers as well.
FYI, he was in The Traveling Wilbury’s.
Always a quick thumbs-up.
His voice and style just chills you out.
I worked with someone who had worked for McLaren and George bankrolled one of the racing cars. I said to him "What was George like?" and he said "He was a lovely guy"
This song was his influence from his time in India. All Gods ... he was spiritual. This song was a mantra to the spiritual, Christian, Hindu, etc. Vishnu, Krishna, Brahma, Shwarah, etc.
For some of his other GREAT songs, try "Give Me Love", "Something", "Here Comes the Sun", and of course, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
Good observation. I think it’s often overlooked this song is praising the universal God of Love, hence the various chants. George was a smart songwriter. This song’s message is also one of abandoning sectarianism in religion. You can bet that wasn’t accidental when he wrote it.
First number one post Beatle solo song and lp
Jayy, you might enjoy "When We Was Fab" about his time with the Beatles. Thanks for the reaction.

Mahesvara, Gurur Vishnu etc. are directly from "Guru Brahma Mantra". In Buddhism Mahesvara also means The Great Lord.
"Guru is Brahma, who is the Lord of Creation, also called as Generator, Guru Vishnu means Guru is Vishnu (Vishnu is the Lord who is called organizer), Guru Devo Maheshwarah means Guru is the Maheshwara (Shiva or the destroyer), Guru Sakshat Parabrahma means Parbrahma viz. the supreme god or almighty."

You need to do a reaction to my guitar gently weeps by George Harrison
The background singers were singing the word God in different languages.
I believe the other language is from India. Hare Krishna is heard in the song. Some of George Harrison's compositions have a strong Indian influence.
He was sued unjustly in my opinion, that he ripped off the tune from a 1960s song ( he's so fine) from some girls group.
Yes, George got hammered for unintentionally copying another tune (and, side by side, you can instantly hear the similarity), but if you hadn't heard that first you wouldn't worry about it. This was a vast seller in the UK and even if you don't fully grasp the sentiment, it's delivered as if he means it.
Yes, check out He's So Fine, it's deja vu all over again :)
George was trying to write a song similar to the spiritual Oh Happy Day. It was written in 1755 and was not under copywrite. What he didn't realize was that the Chiffons had recorded a song called He's So Fine, using the same chord structure. They held a copywrite and sued George for using the medley.
