      I think its humanity who need to learn and accept themselves the way they are. There are so many people who are followers in this world. Even when I know that leaders are born and not made, people need to learn to accept their human selves. It's like humanity hates to be human. The root of the problem is not tik tok or any social media. Sweeping the problems under the rug won't fix the problem; it will only make it bigger. Also, there are people that feel superior to others and they want to be that mirror in which people want to see themselves because the majority of us humans, don't like natural human characteristic, even if they are perfectly fine, they have to fix what doesn't need to be fix.

    Beauty is such a trend, remember that. One time being skinny as a stick is the thing but then being curvy is the thing. One time thin eyebrow is pretty then having thick eyebrow is desired. The problem with beauty standards is whose standards we are using? Woman should realize that the only standard they need is their own face. Our own face is the beauty standard, doesn't matter what other thinks.

    My dermatologist was recently telling me how “preventative botox” is a “scam” and doesn’t actually do anything to prevent aging. Also important to note that I go to a dermatology med spa, where they make most of their money off cosmetic procedures, so you’d think they’d have an incentive to try and sell me on a procedure I didn’t need. That made me feel really confident in her opinion.

I’m fortunate to be 48 and although not totally immune to having my self esteem rattled I don’t pay much attention to it. I always got so frustrated and jealous ( I still do) about how my body isnt like hers, and i still dont have an hourglass body shape, or a flat stomach, even though I always drank water, never ate junk food, and worked out. she made fun of me and even complained about how she wishes she had smaller lips, or a bigger stomach.

    I was so on board with whatever you were saying until you mentioned, how are the trend are racist and fat phobic or what not. Women in every race can be insecure because of TikTok trends not just people of color it’s stupid. And this is coming from a person of color. It just worsens peoples victim mentality also just because a skinny person post. Something in a video that makes someone else insecure that is not their fault. Their body should not be a trigger to someone else because that’s a them problem.

    • @NightRainPanda
      @NightRainPanda Год назад +40

      I get what you're saying, but something racist can effect all people. Yes, every woman can get insecure from the expectation of small slim noses, but its also true that that standard is based off white features. Saying something is racist doesn't mean it can't effect anyone who isn't the race targeted, just that the ideas it is built on are targeting a race. Also, the issue she's talking about is not "skinny person" posts, its people pushing that their body is a standard of beauty, or even saying they aren't skinny enough. A body is not the trigger here, its the messages the posts perpetuate. The "what I eat in a day" posts are not bad because the person doing them is skinny, but because it tells women that they SHOULD and CAN look like that person. These posts are MADE to make people feel insecure. They are made to sell products and lifestyles that are most often not guaranteed to grant the body they want. It's not a them problem when that's the point of these videos. It's unhealthy at best and malicious at worst.
