Gotta commend them for releasing a game that runs well. Sadly rare for most companies these days
It does!!!?
@@ThxCoreHunter Only according to this review, it seems. I just saw some other reviews that are saying differently. So maybe not 🫤
Only complaint was some pop in which is not a huge deal.
Such a low bar
not going to give credit for bare minimum.
You know what, Surge was also a good idea but i felt it was a bit lackluster then Surge 2 fixed 90% of my problems, so I'm willing to give them this and support Atlas Fallen in hopes of Atlas Fallen 2 doing the same, if it even comes.
Exactly where I'm at with the title. Hopefully it finds an audience and their publisher keeps the studio going to make bigger and better games.
Couldn't agree more! You could also put Remenant in that category😊
Surge 2 is so awesome
Agree 100%
@@a.a.616790% of his problems not 90% of the game …reading is fundamental 🫡💯
My new favorite reviewer. I love the respect you treat games with when talking about them.
Love your reviews man, never comes off biased or fake. One of the few reviewers I trust.
That's why I love your Videos. Perfectly structured, lots of Facts and no Blabla. Great Job ✌️
It works...plays good..no microtransactions. Ive had a good time playing it so far.
Very much love your reviews. Always help me to decide buy new games or not. Thank you!
buying this to support the devs. Loved surge 2, and want more games that try things. Not Assassins creed 1 million please.
The game has flaws and could do with a bit of polish, but here's the bottom line: I'm having fun playing it, so the good outweighs the bad.
I don't feel like you've played enough of the game. I'm in the last chapter with about 30 hours in, and the enemy categories are 5 with many subtypes in each. Also, how you play the side quests has some effect on the main story and progression. The game is super fun, and the combat and exploration are a big part of it. They flow into each other smoothly. Imo this game is easy 8/10. Definitely recommend 👌
How the HELL do you have 30 hours in ya nerd.
I finished the game and did almost every side quest, however my main story was never affected by the side quest. Can you elaborate on that? I honestly just don’t wanna miss anything big!!!
Also question, are there only big enemies? no small grunts etc??
@@adrianush7632There are smaller ones.
I don't care about story. I just want to play it for the combat. Thanks for the review
I wish all game reviews were as straight forward as this one. As for other comments that said they didn't like something you said, didn't notice you always segregate discussing the game and your personal opinion. - Great video.
It doesn't seem bad, just different to what I and others seem to have expected, especially being done by Deck 13.
This game looks interesting, not that I’m super hyped about it, but I’ll give it a try.
This is actually coming out at a pretty good time for console players who don't also have a PC. August is fairly light on releases while September/October are loaded. I've been playing Baldur's Gate 3 but I might get this and wait for BG to get another patch or two before resuming.
Remnant 2 is great,,, I was actually thinking of selling my PS5 before Renmant 2 came out.. I was getting disillusioned with the crap AAA devs were putting out.
@robertskr8507 I've already played through most of Remnant 2 and it's a 7/10 to me as a solo player. Felt like it was designed for co-op with solo players as an afterthought. Really hated the enemies constantly spawning behind me with nobody to watch my back.
@@Killbomb I can see that as solo,,, I just play for the co op. So it's good for that.
@@robertskr8507seriously? Re4 remake, ff16, armored core 6, lies of P, lords of the fallen, spiderman 2, Alan wake 2, Helldivers 2, dead space remake, street fighter 6, mortal Kombat 1, monster hunter rise, Jedi survivor, Hogwarts legacy, wo long, like a dragon ishin, wild hearts, atomic heart, like a dragon garden, Warhammer space marines 2 and more.
Then 2024 is gonna be just as stacked with wolverine, ff7 rebirth, dragons dogma2, death stranding 2, Tekken 8, phantom blade 0, stellar blade, splinter cell remake, bioshock 4, dragon age dreadwolf, kingdom hearts 4, metal gear solid 3 remake and who knows how many more.
You are fkn insane or a casual that expects GTA and god of war every year.
@@kato093yes but what’s the point if you’re gonna get a PC? Console is getting less and less exclusives and the gaming space is more open to cross play style of games
Game has always intrigued me, but this screams a 'get on sale' kinda game, so I'll wait it out
maybe I pick it up sometime later, I barely managed to get into JA3 when BG3 dropped .. which literally is taking all my free time and I have scratched the surface .. still have tons
of replayability even if they are faster when I know more what to expect and do.
For a DMC / Darksiders / God of War like game Atlas Fallen realy doing the job and is a easy 8-9 out of 10.
50$ as a negative point? Realy? Most games with less content are at the 60$ or with newer prices at the 70$.
I liked both Surge games, definitely had their flaws, but they were fun. I will buy this, but this summer is pretty stacked with Souls-like games
What other are there besides Lords of the Fallen?
Thats not even summer so do tell what did we miss? (Please dont say Lisa p)
Movement looks fun af ngl
Glad I watched this review. With Remnant 2 finally completed and maxing out majority of what I wanted, BG3 and Armored Core are going to keep me busy for a while.
The game has many flaw but man it's fun as hell. Deck13 really nail the combat. I like parry system in this game. you don't need to be idle to use it. no animation lock you out of parry.
The game should be 10 bucks lower but I had fun with this game so I don't regret buying this.
Hope they do sequel. fight sea god next or something.
Do they change up the sand at all? For instance, do they do things like have red sand in one area, or volcanic black sand in another, or is it all just the same color scheme?
I've been playing it quite a it. Honestly, I like it. It kind of reminds me of Forspoken in a way, another game reviewers hated but I kind of liked, even though I can see the flaws in both of them. I like large, open worlds even if they don't have that much to do. As long as the combat is intriguing, which is true in both cases. There are definitely some very weak spots: story, graphics and textures are pretty rough in many cases, voice acting isn't great, but it has enough good things that I'm really enjoying it. I love the wide open environments to explore.
It’s not a bad game, it’s def fun! Just a bad release window and a bit thin on content for people that want to play at length
I have a soft spot for these devs. Coming from the O.G. lords of the fallen that felt so "cheap" to something that looks like this is commendable. The Surge games are also excellent souls like.
I'll give it a try when it comes to the Gamepass. Seems alright
I expected more HnS in general, but Is nice to go to places so I'm having fun just traveling. Have not used yet the fast-travel. The combat is fun so far. Only 5 hours played but I'm ejoying them. 50€ instead of 60€ (console) is more accurate launch price. I wanted a combat like this (tired of souls) and the game delivered. The rest I'm just accepting it because "why not". Thank you for the review
The graphics and combat looks awesome!
I see people mentioning the surge games. I'm currently playing the first game now and purchase the second one withall the dlc for $8.
I had performance issues on the PS5. It came when I entered the castle at Lithesta causing it crash several times.
The floaty, fast paced combat reminds me of Otogi (early Fromsoft game).
Its exactly why i dont like it. To each their own!
I am a big fan of previous games from the developer so will pick this one up on sale.
SOOOO many games struggle with enemy variety. I guess it's hard and time consuming to create lots of interesting/engaging enemies. It's probably the most common issue I see with action games/rpgs.
I’m playing outward and there is a huge variety.
I’m grabbing this game specifically cause I need something to play til armored core and blasphemous 2
Honestly, this is how I imagined reviews going for this game and I'm still pleasantly surprised. Deck13 makes solid games, but I'm still hoping they'll really knock one out of the park in the future. Sounds like I'll be enjoying this one during holiday sale season.
I feel like this would be great to rp as the protagonist for Dune*, especially with dune 2 Coming out.
Do you know if they plan on adding new game plus in future?
Its been okay so far. The only issue i have is if i lock on then the camera will change and i cant see anything.
I am surprised he didn't mention the horrible camera angles during combat and lock on targeting issues I have seen from several other people. That is one of the main reasons I am not getting the game until sale or game pass release.
I don't quite mind the camera angles honestly. I've played and enjoyed games with way worse. But I do see how most people may not have my tolerance level for stuff like that lol. And yeah this is definitely a game worth getting on sale or in a bundle eventually. I got it because I really like Deck 13's work. The Surge games are some of my favorite Souls-like of all time.
so what would be a "better game available at the moment" that fits this style? and dont say elden
Are there any special abilities in this game? Sounds like just passive perks. Wish this review said the total # of special abilities & described some of them.
You can spend your ascension meter to perform huge hard hitting moves.
I’m gonna get it, the combat and exploration around the world seems really enjoyable and fun. Mid story and empty open world but the combat Carry’s
How long is it with story and side quest?
So, is every game have to to RPG? I think this game is an oG god of war type game with a corporate play
Sounds like something I will get on sale
time stamps in description 👍
Right on time
Game is fun but seems to cause my ps5 to overheat lol did it twice😅 so i set it in performance mode and so far that seemed to have helped but not sure if its a permanent fix yet. Seems to be the only game that's causing my ps5 to overheat, first time it ever happened.
Stopping 3 min in because I can tell this isn’t a game for me. Love your reviews though so giving a like!
Honestly I am glad is semi open world.
You should read audiobooks, you’ve got great voice
Seems like a good steam sale pickup. But it's wedged in between some real giants like diablo and baldurs gate so i don't see this one getting much interest.
Playing on PC. I tried this but every time I play on full screen it would just shut my HDR off and everything goes dark.
Did u find a answer for it
@@kenfolkz6 Are you having the same problem? Ive spent an hr tweaking the settings but to no luck. I ended up requesting for a refund lol
As I got older, I will start looking at game reviews I’m glad I did not the game for me. I don’t think. It looks good.
Good effort which falls short at the end, especially in the combat department, the artwork is nice, the traversal is fun, the graphics are acceptable, the story is serviceable and the performance is average, however the combat is too janky, hits do not connect properly, too many targets to constantly switch to, body parts, the adds, parry is disconnected from the actual animations and instead you need to parry the red flash, not when the hit connects, the "whip spear" further worsens the "remoteness" of the combat and the player does not have a clear indication on how much damage they are doing with each hit, you just accumulate the shatter and trigger it every couple of minutes of mashing. In the end, the game was disappointing mainly because of it's janky combat mechanics, bigger bosses were too spongy and the battles took too long which made them a chore and ultimately boring. I have got a feeling that the game was released in an unfinished state even for a "double A" release. Not worth the asking price.
Was actually interrested despite everything until I heard that it ain`t an actual OPEN WORLD lol I FUCKIN LOVE EXPLORING HUGE WORLDS
So it basically is a storygame with no real endgame... not sure if I wanna get this then, looks fun but if the playtime is limited so much...
I feel this reminds me of godfall. Worth a playthrough but that's it.
Can you recommend a game that's worth the full price? Haven't seen one in at least 3 yrs.
Baldurs Gate 3 :>
how many players does coop mode supports?
Two
Honestly would have sold it to me if it had better armor variety and a ng+
Is being able to play through the game twice a requirement?
@@lgolem09l
For a game this short in 2023 ? I would argue it is, at least if you want it to be competitive.
@@lgolem09l are videogames necessary ?
@@bruhelbruh6293 to enjoy video games, yes
@@bruhelbruh6293 competetive? Against what? That I can play through the game in a weekend means I can afford to play it, even though competition exists. It makes me more likely to get it on a whim than if I had to invest another 40 hours of my free time.
Looks like it's aimed at early teens. Deep deep sale as a gift at best.
Looks fun enough to me I don’t give a damn about stories in video games personally if I want a story I’ll read a book or watch a movie.
unfortunate. deep down i knew this game was gonna be mid but i was hoping otherwise.
I'm gonna get it when it's cheaper. It is 60von ps5
Reviews in 2003: "the only bad thing about the game is that it ends /s"
Reviews in 2023: "the only bad thing about the game is that it ends, and then it's actually over"
God, I hate the concept of "endgame". A game is over when you played through it, that is how it works.
Quite similar to Kindom of Amalure?
Kingdoms of Amalur is much more of an rpg. This is more of an action game with open world features
Honestly, between baldurs gate 3 , Diablo 4, and remnant 2 I feel bad that this title came out when it did. Because I most certainly am not ever going to get around to playing it this year. And my extensive backlog is still untouched. I am not looking to add any more to it right now. For those that do pick this up however, GLHF!!!
diablo is for cucks
Remnant 2 is Fantastic,,,,, Diablo 4 is not... bhlazzird is for share holders , not gamers.
I love your reviews. I greatly thank you for this one. I was on the fence about this game, now it's a complete skip for me.
if the game was $5 I’d demand $4. It’s the principle lol
I wouldn't play it for free.
Honestly the gameplay looks a lot like games I love like Darksiders and Kingdoms of Amalur. But somehow lacks the character and uniqueness those games had at that time. This game looks like it would be worth picking up on sale or maybe getting through humble bundle someday but with all insane games we have had this year in 2023 and with so many good ones right around the corner like Lords of the Fallen and Armored Core this one is just not standing out enough for me.
You show ps5 footage but say performance is great on pc. What the? Looks choppy on ps5.
All the companies should just cancel their release dates since BG3 just came out 😂. It’s just too good to stop playing
Nah cuz the people who actually like games with good gameplay are waiting for armored core 😂
@@BtolHiko Mech games you need to be a mech fan or it gets boring quick. Great it’s made by Fromsoft but it won’t compare with its own Elden Ring or the other souls game. Remnant has good gameplay but unlike fromsoft games, also a lot of bugs. BG3 has great gameplay if you want a game that requires actual thinking and diversity.
@@AgentCoffin I haven’t experience any bugs on remnant 2 😂 and bg3 gameplay looks so damn boring
@@BtolHiko You must have played on Console then as PC had many issues. Crashing going through portals, freezes. Play BG3 and then you’ll find out. Might actually surprise you. Don’t judge a book by its cover
@@AgentCoffin I actually went to go and try BG3, the customization is amazing, the VA, and a bunch of other things. But the gameplay bro, a fucking dice 💀 yeah nah I’m good shits not engaging or appeasing at all
It just looked like the next Godfall and Outriders and it seems that's exactly what it is. 100% will be on PS+ within a year.
People trash talking his game while modern warfare 3 is getting praised for being the same game lol
Marketing and identity for this game is so lacklustre, i was a big fan of the surge 2 but didnt know a thing about this game and thought it was just that fps mage game imortals of avum
Nothing like the surge. At all
But if I'm sincerely honest in my humble
opinion, without being sentimental, and
of course without offending anyone who
thinks differently from my direction but
rather looking into this serious matter
with a perspective distinction and without
condemning anyone's point of view,
honestly think and feel that I have nothing
to say
Too bad the game is priced $50 on Steam and $60 on consoles. Thankfully the Remnant2 devs priced both console and pc the same. I rewarded them with a purchase of the deluxe edition
It's 50 on my ps5 don't know where you're looking.
I played it. Well 2 hours. I don’t know about the RPG elements but I am digging the combat.
I feel sorry for any game advertising itself as an RPG releasing around Baldur's Gate 3
It looks generic to me. I could be wrong.
looks fun but also looks like it should be free on gamepass
lol
It looks like you need a job
You pay for gamepass
So it’s not free in a sense
@@jonesygrets6029I hate that people say free on gamepass. It’s just as stupid as saying “it’s free on Netflix”
can't be that fun then.
I think it's a mistake to penalize the game for being something it never claimed to be. This isn't an rpg, it's an action game with rpg elements. For $50, I think it's fairly priced.
Its an ARPG. Basically any Google search ive found describes it as an ARPG.
Their STEAM page clearly describe it as ARPG.
The only thing I liked from the trailer was the sand surfing
If it is not like Skyrim, I don’t waste my money and time to play low budget games and mindless
Hmm so this game kinda sucks and not worth getting? Seems like a cheap mobile game??
Super mid game. Trash story, writing, dialogue. Mid combat. Buggy animations. Sand gliding was coolest part but all the audio in the game is mad annoying.
this looks like a game that got abandoned half way through and pushed out because they had nothing else
When you say not that many armors how few are we talking?
Remnant 2 only has 18 and I found that disappointing.
18 is too few for you? Damn.
@@PointlesslyNecessaryConvos Fashion is the truest endgame. It's boring when all the loot of crafting items or rings.
@@TheRealJaiFlame Fair Enough, for me the fun with that game came from building a DPS monster. I played with my gunslinger armor for the whole game lol
Honestly this game doesnt look bad. However it released at the worst possible time. Stuck between baldurs gate 3 and starfield this game is likely doomed to fall into obscurity.
As someone who is not going to play starfield or baldurs gate 3, I think the game will find its audience just fine. There are plenty of people who like this kind of game.
Game is hovering around a 50% steam rating. Oof!
forspoken with a paint job!
No spoilers ,starts with story and setting, stop calling reviews spoiler free
Anybody else got it for XboX? Specifically for the series X? The game is just dark, can't really see what's going on to play it.
Not a 60$ game, maybe 10$
This game will do great… on game pass
Wait for free
It felt very mediocre from the first teasers I saw from this game. And that did not change.
The Surge was also OK-ish the first few hours but quickly became a slog.
