Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 retrospective and review. This is a full analysis of Call of Duty MW2 2009 and with MW2 2022 releasing this year. It should be noted that MW2 had an impact being far beyond a mere video game. This will explore Mw2 multiplayer, single player campaign and spec ops mode and gameplay.
Ive been having so much fun with these, thank you all for supporting them, CoD Ghosts is next and after that Im gonna take a short break to recharge
Wassup Chopper! I was wondering what are the names of the songs that you used in both of these videos? They sound awesome but unfortunately when I try to shazam them there's no result.

Keep on going man your channel will only rise and keep on rising 🙏🏽
If you haven’t yet the remastered modern warfare would make a good video as well.
these videos are amazing, keep up the great work!
good high effort stuff
I’m thankful to have grown up during this era of gaming, Truly wonderful.
@@RevisedGames Never seen a worse take.
I want to 3 star all spec ops missions

@@RevisedGames Some ppl should be banned from the internet
@@RevisedGames The game selling well has nothing to do with if the game is good or not and graphics aren't everything dude lmao. This is one of the worst era's of gaming
@@RevisedGames the social aspect of games is often lost nowadays, cod hiding their custom games behind multiple menus, disbanding lobbies after they end, and no forced game chat all really take away from the experience. i can see the argument that games are better nowadays but there is just too much corporate control taking away from the creativity of developers
To this day, I still stand by MW2 being the greatest COD of all time. Game came out in my senior year of high school and I grinded it to death with the boys after school. Crack a Full Throttle energy drink and steal some of my dads beers and I was all set. Never played a game that was more addicting and fun than MW2. Definitely miss 2009-2010. Life was simple
i enjoyed the hell out of MW2, but its balancing on MP was horrendous. its definitely a great, but its not the best because of its balance issues
@@AtomicTheSniper the lack of balance is what made it fun and memorable. COD is the most fun when there’s a bunch of OP weapons to screw around with
I agree. I loved Black Ops so much, especially for its zombies which I still think was zombies at its peak but MW2 was incredibly special and I think slightly better than BO1. I think what edges it out above BO1 is the music for me.
@@captainkill21 op weapons where never fun, only if u used them to cheat-now how was that any fun??
@@off_da_perc3039 you’re just a part of the new wave of players that cry if everything isn’t balanced. Almost every weapon in there was OP so it all evened out. Intervention, ACR, Akimbo Models, Raffickas, G18s, Rangers, UMP45, Noob tubes, commando tac knife pistols
MW2 is still one of the most content-rich CoD games ever released. One of the best video games ever made.
I want to 3 star all spec ops missions

Ps3
Absolutely, MW2 and Bo1 are the best
Would argue that black ops 3 and mw3 are more content rich than mw2 by miles
@@Paper323 I think you missed the "one of" portion of his comment
Not super content rich really, but great gameplay.
This game was iconic. I think the variety of play styles and customization was truly what made it stand out. The maps are goated, the guns and kill streaks, just everything about it was top tier
This was THE game to play at the time. If you were a gamer no matter your age in 2009-2010 you were playing MW2, just walking on the street I'd hear others talking about it.
I was 14 at the time and still had my 'squeaker' voice so I rarely talked on the mic because others were ruthless 🤣 I miss those days those where I had zero worry or care in the world other than playing with my friends from school and talking about the epic moments the next day.
Funny you say that at the end me and my son spent months trying for 3 stars in spec ops on every mission and his 20 now were waiting for MW2 people critacised me because i was a young parent and let my son play these games he's a good genuine lad that still plays never harmed him and created some great memories
I remember getting 50/50 stars back in 2015-16 era and every achievement in the game, I’m replaying a few of the missions and it’s still some of the most fun I’ve had with gaming
That comment put a smile on my face, so many good memories playing with my dad 😅 good for you and your kid!
same buddy! i was 21 when my kid was born. we grinded hard on COD 4, WaW, MW2 together when he was at moms, and i would watch him when he was with me. he says those are his fondest memories, i still watch him play, and we're still super tight!
Not only did it help battle its rival Halo but it kinda helped shape Cod and the community. Many memories playing this and its still a masterpiece to this day
‘’Modern Warfare 2 is top 10 the most influential modern media ever produced.’’ Exactly. In 2010, most uploaded video topic was MW2 on the whole RUclips.
Almost 22 years old now. This was my first cod when I was around 9-10. My pops and I would always fight over who got to play terminal. Great times man.
😂 your dads a cool dude
@@lucasvarela9632 he has his moments 🤣
@@Jn-tj2ob I'm 21 rn, I remember back in the days been pissed out about my brother always throwing flashbangs at me and killing me off. Those were the days when we had 4 controls and do the deathmatch mode and dispute for ourselves.
damn I'm really fuckin old... you folks are still young.. I was drinking a splashed 7up when playing COD4 before you guys were even born
@@davidherene6365 maths not mathing. a 22 year old in 2023 would have been 7 when cod 4 came out. lmao "not born"
Awesome vid Chop. Watched the entire thing in 1 sitting. This was one of my favorites for sure. Going from getting dunked on to dunking on everyone by the end of the game,. Such good memories
Looking back at it now, I think it would've been GAME CHANGING if the EMP was able to stop a nuke AFTER it's been called in. No one really ever bothered with going for an EMP at 15 kills BUT it you had the ability to stop a nuke with it, I think alot of people would've ran it and it would've been a complete game changer
the day my cousin told me to put my ump 45 down and try an intervention was one of the biggest game changes I've eve had.. such a great feeling and memories.
My parents never let me play cod when I was a kid so I never experienced the golden age of gaming and didn’t get into them until 2011 with Halo Reach. However different my entry to gaming was, I’m really glad I was still able to experience the joy of gaming and see how influential gaming was on my generation. I’ll never be able to experience the joy that was MW2 or black ops 1-2 when they were in their prime but I’m over all glad I at least got to see my friends play it.
mw2 prime was between 2009 - 2011 and even in the MW3 era lots of people still played MW2
so If you played mw2 between those years you really havent missed anything
back then you just had a clear distinction between treyarch and infinity ward fans, now its all morfed together
Lol
I remember I got this game when I was 10 and was playing the campaign in my living room and my parents were sitting in there and then came the godlike No Russian mission😂 I was told to shut my PS3 off and take it upstairs lmfaooo
Edit: Reading everyone’s comments is so wholesome, it’s insane how a single game can positively impact our lives
Woody, TmarTn, and KYR SP33DY will always have a place in my heart for MW2 and MW3. These people taught me how to get better and enjoy the countless hours I spent in these worlds. Great video, GGs
Ew tmartn
Speedy was my favorite
Can't forget xjawz and whiteboy7thst
@@AlexCruz-us2sx facts
@@AlexCruz-us2sx omg holy shit xJawz 😮 I used to watch that guy. He fell faster than a rock
Man who remembers the model 1887s when the game first dropped? The dual wielded version could literally kill from across the map. And the knifing was absolutely broken. Those times were amazing man. Miss those intermission moments as well.
Yea I miss the care package glitch as well cuz people get so mad
the akimbos? yeah that shit in duals were broken
I'm so thankful I was in 8th/9th grade during this games prime. It was a time to be alive and you're right, this game sparked alot of people discovering their passions.
One thing I loved about the older CoD games was there was no meta in MP like there is now. Sure some guns were just objectively better, but you could kill with anything if you knew what you were doing. Nowadays it's almost like you need to have this one specific loadout or you shouldn't even bother playing online
This game was amazing I'm glad the campaign got remastered but I wish they remastered the multiplayer but glad they are doing a sequel for the 2019 modern warfare
They did remaster the multiplayer lol, its just no one plays it so hard to find lobbied
@@imAgamingApple no they didn't, and that was the main complain of the remaster
Mw2019 was the real beginning of the end lmao. Especially for multiplayer. Everyone's just distracted by the graphics and "realism" dispite how objectively awful it is at its core as far as traditional cod multiplayer goes.
And if they had remastered the multiplayer the new cods would die off, they know this.
@@Trahzy wdym? getting spawn massacred is so much fun!!!1!111
the "Russia managed to get onto US soil easily" thing implies that the downed ACS module you retrieve in the Cliffhanger mission was decrypted or reverse-engineered and they used what they learned for the invasion, or at least that's what I took from it when suddenly paratroopers were over Washington
isn't there a dialogue that goes something like: "we thought we recovered the acs before the russians could crack it, we were wrong"?
@@creativename3707 there is. Chopper doesn’t understand the campaign. Also doesn’t understand that Sheperd was makarov were connected to allow for WW3 boy parties wanted it, and that’s how Allen got in so easily with makarov
Made me cry all over again, good stuff, what a nostalgia trip! I hope this new MW2 is just as good. I always thought when I was younger that it was interesting that Shepard looked up at the last moment before you even throw the knife
I remember getting mw2 the day it came out back in 2009, and I completed that whole game, as in getting all of the achievements, in four days! That included playing through the game on normal difficulty, then going back to play cod 4, then playing through mw2 on veteran difficulty. Needless to say I really enjoyed playing this game. It's definitely one of those games that brings you back to better times!
I disagree that video games were looked down upon, depending on the game. When Halo 2 became a global phenomenon nobody would bat an eye if you talked about it, but they might think you're a nerd if you played World of Warcraft.
It's ridiculous that games are still being scapegoated by people trying to blame everything but the actual problem
I swear RUclips just knows! I just finished playing through the OG modern warfare trilogy. I was 6 at the time this came out, and thus I was too focused on the Wii to give a damn. I’ve been going back to give the rated M games I missed in the past a try, and am currently collecting a full set of Call of Duty games. Awesome video. Dropped a like and sub just for this!
Still have my Night Vision Google on the Head night stand it came with. And still works great since day 1 back in 2009. My father in law used to steal them to go hunting back in the day and be able to see in the wood at night. Sure, Its not and never will be like the real night vision google used in the army in comparison. But for the price and quality of the product even after almost 14 years and still wotking like day one. Still happy I've got the collector edition.
The one thing I still remember perfectly is people trying to get a noob kill from across the map at the start of the game lmao
This is my favorite call of duty multiplayer ever. This was the first game i ever truly obsessed about, had almost 50 days invested in it. This game had (imo) the biggest leap in innovation and new ideas from game to game and was truly amazing. Though there have been many other great cods since, this one always remains my top.
I was in high school as a sophomore and brother half of my schools male population was missing when this game came out. My friends and I have some of our fondest gaming moments that we can still to this day remember. This game was special.
This was such a beautiful video, thank you man. You managed to make me happy, sad, laugh and feel so thankful to have had experienced this classic gem. I cant wait for MW2!
I had to pause multiple times during the multiplayer part because the nostalgia was making me cry.
@yadig you sound like you didn't have a lot of amazing times on that game. It clearly didn't help you thru a lot of problems like most other people.
I loved spec ops so much. I used to play this split screen with my dad when I was younger, we would play it so long an it was satisfying when we would finally finish a level on 3 stars.
Crazy how my experience with MW2 and WAW was pretty much the exact same as yours.
Going over my next door neighbours house playing it for hours on end with my friend and his father. Honestly some of the most vivid and earliest memories I remember! Great video to bring back that nostalgia! Just hope MW2 2022 can live up to that legendary name
I think what really made mw2 such a great game was atmosphere. You could tell it was a game made for a mature audience, no octopus or clown costumes. All weapons with realistic gun sounds were used typically in the military, and the campaign was the sauce. The absolute goat. Storytelling that is brought up years later, replayed to this day, a game much kept alive. Although I thought it was cool seeing the mw2 2022 trailer, I don’t think it will ever hit off like the original mw2 did.
Well said
there are kids in middle school now that were not even alive when this game dropped
When Gaming Used To Be Fun. I Still Watch The OG,s Montage Like Zzirgrizz The Matrix And OpTic Predator Predators Montage
The game that defined an era and practically raised a generation. Damn I miss MW2...
I haven't played this game for probably close to a decade and I can still instantly recognize the guns just from the iron-sights... Damn did I love this game... However I'm still salty that the Leaderboards on Xbox were a hackers nest that Activision just never bothered to do anything about, such a waste.
this cod was so great i knew a guy who stopped playing hs football to play this game because he was addicted to it
Akimbo shotguns as a secondary was insane 😂
This game gives validity to my belief that the most enjoyable things in life have glaring problems. Friends, partners, games, movies, cars, music… etc. The most interesting and enjoyable experiences, not matter what medium they’re experienced through, often have GLARING issues that give them just enough character to permanently burn them into your mind.
Fun fact: MW2 and my fav movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were both scored by the same legendary composer.
Servers are officially back online for all CODS on Xbox.
hell yea
MW2 has decided the course of my life, it goes deep.
15:22 they actually do explain how they got into America, theres a mission called Cliffhanger and the cutscene with Shepherd explaining it in a cutscene
Sorry for the second comment but I just finished the video. I have to say this hit in me the feels as I was in middle school when this came out and that’s all me and my friends did was play mw2. I remember the first time me and my uncle got 3 stars on ever spec ops mission after weeks and weeks of playing co op with each other. This game definitely molded the pathway for gaming today and it touched the lives of so
many players. I hope the next modern warfare 2 is able to be talked about the same way in years to come. Thanks for the blast from the past this was a damn good video.
Black ops 1 is my top cod ever! But Mw2 was what got me hooked on cod!
I'll be 42 this year and I have incredible memories of this game that I'll never forget. This was absolutely more than a game, and it put Call of Duty on the map in such a way that the franchise is now literally a part of the Western cultural lexicon. My mom knows what Call of Duty is and this is the same woman who still thinks all console games are Nintendo games. The franchise is referenced in movies, TV, music... That all started with this game. This was the game that officially snatched the console FPS crown from HALO. The impact this game had on both the franchise and the industry as a whole are undeniable, both for better and for worse.
I’ll be 40 in January and I love COD
I know this is late compared to the release. But this video got me to really relive this game for a moment and thank you. Unlike a lot of players, my best friend and I never really moved on past this game playing it right up to the CoD4 remaster as our go to CoD. Which by that point the game began to get over ran my "modders" with things like aim bot and permanent UVA. But as you mentioned the game gave you pretty much everything you could imagine for all situations. And we trolled modders for years through corny strategies. Finally we took out the discs for the final time I guess half a decade ago already with a final in-game time of 393Days.
RIP to thee GOAT of CoDs. There will never be another one like you.
I remember intentionally disliking black ops and refusing to play it because I did not want the mw2 days to ever end. I got black ops midway through its lifecycle and reluctantly played it only to find it was also a great game. Mw2 is hands down my favorite cod followed closely by bo1 & bo2
8:00 “social friendly gaming experiences at the time” yea okay
Whilst some weapons may seem to have broken elements, which they do but it's not just that, everything is "OP" in the game purely based upon the Stopping Power perk. It increased your damage and combined with FMJ on your guns it was so broken, since Cod4 nor WaW had FMJ attachments MW2 seemed way more broken in comparrison. People always tend to forget that when making these videos. Go back and use something other than SP, you can feel the difference, only slight but noticible.
What are you on about? CoD4 had deep impact perk which was fmj.
@@Gl0ckb1te perk, not attachment.
That game was huge. It came out by my birthday. I was 23 years old. And by far my favorite call of duty ever I had alot of fun with my friends. It was like everybody wants to buy a PS3. just to play MW2 Even people that didn’t play video games wanted to play Mw2 I made a lot of friends in the game.
I think a lot of MWII's hype is tied to MW19, which was a resounding success for Call of Duty. Ofc there is some leverage of the MW2 brand/nostalgia too, as their was with MW19, but that Game managed to stand on it's own feet as a Call of Duty Title so I'm sure MWII can too.
My fren, you have no concept of history because you're looking at this from the perspective of someone who was a child at this time. COD and gaming weren't underground. There is so much you put in these videos distorting gamers and gaming circles early to mid-2000s. The comment about people not investing in DLC is tragically laughable. We invented that ish. We would all buy our season pass to get all map dlc 4x a year. We would wait on Mondays at Gamestop and their progenitors for hours partying guys and girls for midnight releases. When the discs were prevalent, you would get special COD posters still hanging signed by the COD creators in my theater. And all tbise dads that let you play when too young most of us still play COD a d would trounce you. We have the best rugs and all the experience, especially in 15 year old maps with different overlays
Glad someone else caught that 2009 wasn't 1999, gaming in 2009 was closer to how it is today than how it was in the 90s or 80s
Cod was a multi platform Bestseller for Pete's sake I had multiple brothers ( all jocks in school) who played cod and halo all the time it wasn't underground or "niche" even remotely
It was a good time. I often think about it. Played it last time 3 years ago and then got banned by Steam VAC because i wanted to restore my online stats after they got deleted after I visited a hacked server by simply searching a FFA server.
Ahhh man the good days
Both MW2 and Black Ops are absolutely astounding titles and I have fond memories of playing them with the boys
Sometimes, nostalgia isn't bad when you go back. MW2 is still a pretty strong game. Just a shame the servers are dead. But the story is still very fun.
hitting the red bell always creeped me out when i was a kid and i remember being so frightened when u hit the red bell when it clearly says for you not to
Man seeing toxic lobby again kinda miss it I would laugh at the argument that they had like
best cod ever imo and it wasn't even my first cod. that's how great this game was.
Great video man, you nailed it properly. Even though I was an adult playing this I can remember going into work & all us gamer guys were comparing our challenging levels on Spec Ops. I also remember me & my friend trying to beat the 15 Juggernaut oil rig level. I wish they bring it back the way that it was on MW2, I was so gutted when I played MW19’s take on the mode.
All my mates now are all married & what not but MW2 has stayed with all of us as one of the best games ever.
All you have to say is “Grenada” and it brings memories
This game led to many years of good memories making new friends and going on to further call of duty games. Such a shame we will never live those moments again.
i played this game as my first cod when it first came out with the console bundle it came in (RIP Mw2 special edition console, red ring) and loved it. it was my uncle’s shit so i would sneak sessions when he was away, he probably knew but didnt care. it was one of the few games along with halo 2 and 3 i played without my parents monitoring n honestly i loved it all to death. ive spent probably 3 months or more worth of time altogether, and ive enjoyed every moment. from the hateful roast battles of the day, to the amazing friendships i formed thru clans n groups i played with, i loved it all.
Man, I remember first learning how to quick scope. Learning that the ump silenced didn’t need stopping power to 3 shot. Getting that first cross map throwing knife off spawn. Having my heart race as I built up to my first harrier jet without any other kill streaks before it to help. It started as getting smacked, to doing the smacking, and went up from there. I’d say I’ve matured cuz of age now as a gamer, but that time I was happiest
God it actually hurts listening to the soundtrack, like my stomach area is actually aching, my body remembers that point in time when everything was so magical for the lack of a better word.
Unpopular opinion, I actually really enjoyed Wasteland as a map. It was fun to feel like a sniper laying in the tall grass and hard to find, especially in hardcore mode.
I'm so glad I grew up with this game. It has never been the same since. The amount friends, nukes, 1v1, funny matches omg I miss all of it
Video games were frowned upon? The last iteration was world changing? Damn dude youve got a twisted sense of the world.
They were at the time. Remember when the news was saying a game like COD would make kids shoot up schools? Or kids would start doing GTA in real life? I remember.
2:20 THEY CHANGED THE KNIFE FLIP WTF!!!
I feel bad for the people who never got to play this in it's prime when everyone was grinding it such a crazy time
Didn’t get to play it in its prime, but still played it for hundreds of hours on PC where I met some of my current friends.
Havnt even finished the video yet but this is so well made and thought out. I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into this. Earned a sub!
Kind of interesting to hear your take about the release date, and the perception of the times it was released in. A fun generational gap, for a lot of my friends and myself, MW2 was an island of escapism following the real shitty state of the world after the 2008 financial crisis.
That's the beauty of gaming, we all have our takeaways, but our passion and admiration for the medium keeps us all talking.
Loving your vids, keep it up!
MW2 let the players express themselves without forcing any specific playstyle. I loved playing stealth while someone else would be a demolitionist.
So many factual errors in this video it would take a video twice as long to debunk it all.
"You'd almost never use an SMG on wasteland"
Haha UMP suppressed goes brrrrr
God I want the Multiplayer remastered so bad. i'd never play another CoD. Which is probably why it isn't released because $$$
Am i the only one who fell in love with cod 4? Back in the day that game was awesome. M16. M40, mp5, gold desert eagle. I was only about 9 but I loved that game
Best cod evee
@@Trindividual for sure bro
man i have vivid memories of this game from the first match on skidrow and using the mounted gun to my first nuke on favela. Not to mention literally everyone i knew no lifed this game.
Those early MW2 multiplayer lobbies were brutal. It was like how Kenobi described Mos Eisley space port
I had just graduated college when MW2 was out lol and here I am still playing cod dreaming of the old days. Before the wall running and the incomplete games. 😂
I'm not sure anyone's pointed this out, but Sheppard used CIA connections to get him in with Makarov, but further Sheppard tipped Makarov off and gave Makarov an asset to start WW3. That's what leads into the safehouse mission and why he killed ghost and roach, it would've revealed that Sheppard helped Makarov start ww3 in the hopes of taking down the big "villain" and become a hero again because his reputation was tarnished due to the nuke in cod 4 decimating his men.
On my XBox Museum it shows that MW2 is my most played game with 63 days. MW3 is second with 32 and surprisingly Advanced warfare is also in my top 10 most played games. None of the Treyarch games are there though, even though i loved WaW.
Random (non-skill-matched) matchmaking, one game you're surrounded by noobs crushing it, the next you're against a full team of Swedish semi-pros and you get a KD of 0.1
I miss Mw2, but I also miss the BO2/ Ghosts era a few years later. Ghosts because during that time was when I was able to get the DLC and had friends to play zombies with. These were the good days. Its just nostalgia for me, but still
Wait. People argued between MW2 and BO1? MW2 is one of the best fps ever. BO1 just led us to BO2. BO1 was good, i have zero complaints about it. However, it's not even in the same stratosphere as the goat
There was a type of investigation in the lore, I guess from what was said by one of the developers is that Russia knew Makarov was behind the airport massacre, however they were under the impression that they were funded by the American government to carry it out. More specifically the CIA.
The spec ops missions with the juggernauts is where it was at for me and my friend. Those were the unique tanks of spec ops and the strats we would use or create to take them down was what made it so fun
Tbf lad WW1 started because of the death of one guy. A mass shooting in an airport would drive anyone to act irrationally no matter the position of power. They would always look for something to blame on response to a massive tragedy.
What made me fall in love with mw2 was how viable spawn rushing was. Maps weren't these shitty three lane layouts. There were numerous ways to flank your opponents, and cause absolute chaos.
The riot shield was an absolute blast to use, and no other game has been able to do it better. Combined with c4 or a throwing knife, and I would have a blast.
Changing weapons to pretend that you were dead with cold-blooded pro; ninja defusing; sneaking behind people and placing a claymore; camping with a group of friends; and running around with commando and knife only.
No other COD has come close to how much fun MW2 provided. Everything was broken, and yet balanced -- it was glorious.
I will always remember "No Russian"
There are actually quite a few fine details in MW2 that I really like, my favorite being the background radio chatter in "Of Their Own Accord" basically explaining the strategy behind the Russian invasion of DC and how it emphasizes how far gone DC is at that point.
The game was the best because it was modern but not overly done with over the top gimmicks and gadgets
It not a game its soemone memory its the thing which inspired krunker io it inspired my childhood game
Hearing the hard R through what sounded like a potato in a bathroom did give the racism a decent comedy factor…. God mw2 was toxic but I loved it XD
Assume you are too young for COD4 and World at War. Both those are far superior and at the time MW2 was not as well received as the two previous titles.
Yo dude these videos are so sick. I’ve been binge listening to them at work lol so I’m gonna save this one for tomorrow 😎
You're chewing a lot of stuff with personal experience; And while I like that.. a lot of it ain't true. Still like the vid, though.
Very thankful to have grown up playing this with friends. Sad you didn’t mention glitches, emergency air stop glitching, javelin glitching, elevator glitches etc. this game wasn’t fine tuned and you could do some shit that wasn’t intended. And they didn’t care. Was a great time for gaming.
