      They know that if there was an old school CoD game with no cheaters and upgraded graphics optimized for the current gen consoles out today, they’d struggle to get half the community to buy/play their new releases for the next 5 years. The only reason they released CoD 4 remastered was because Infinite Warfare would have flopped if they hadn’t sold it in a bundle with a fan favorite.

      you guys put too much value in nostalgia. Those games played great like technically sure. But the new games feel so much better they’re fluid and responsive(not mw2 shit feels like sludge). The new engine is better in almost every way. The problem with the new games are the shitty illogical buddy spawns and sbmm(also the maps but every game has bad maps). if they remastered the old games they would put that shit in it too along with the old clunky engine and severely lacking weapon customization. People would play it but not for long. Especially with how similar in theme the new games have been.

    One area that killed it for me is disbanding lobbies. It kills the social aspect of the game. I can’t say I’ve made nearly as many friends playing cod in recent years. Whereas I have made lifelong friends from older titles. Mostly, from engaging in game chats throughout multiple matches. This is no longer possible with their matchmaking system kicking you out after each game. Additionally, there’s not much you can do to play and get better when you only have one match to learn the other teams tactics. Used to be very rewarding rematching opponents, learning, and adapting to different play styles while engaging in social conversation with teammates and opponents. That social luster is gone.

COD WAW had like 2 boys in the Japanese campaign with one of them being optional on who it'd be. COD MW2 had Ghost, roach, Allen, Shepard, a bunch of random Task force 141 members. COD Black ops had Weaver, Reznov, the guy from WAW, a few named CIA members & the main villains Woods (but he lives). COD MW3 had the russian guy, all the members of delta force who you played as, Soap & a few other named people. Weird to think the people who made Infinite warfare where every character bar 1 dies would make a game where nobody dies.

    And you addressed this point super well. It has a wide appeal, and technically shit tons of content to work your way through. Hell it has good ideas like the camo grind and weapon grind being streamlined, so people with shit to do, like jobs, school, bettering their lives, non-NEET shit, can actually get far in the progression system. Believe it or not. A game like xdefiant might be the best thing for the cod community. If it causes lots of players to stop buying/playing there games. Activision will begin losing money. One thing you will learn about activision. They will do anything to make as much money as possible. Even if that means finally listening to the community and making the changes there asked to make. I just hate that money is the main priority and the lengths and tactics used to milk every dollar from everyone, it's borderline predatory and should be illegal to FORCE a casino like experience on players who just want to have fun, gambling is no joke, it's sickening.
    Why can't they just focus on making a good game while having player experience and satisfaction as their number one priority?

      I agree, at least when it comes to the campaign. I feel like the game is so hamstring on making the game feels politically believable that it feels so constraint. The whole time you as TF141 (instead of ICE, FBI, Rangers, or Seals for some reason) practically goosechasing around this random warlord with a nuke for the entire game and kills him and America and Mexico stay in 1 piece. The overall stake is super low and boring so they have to shoehorn in Shadow Company's subplot to make it interesting (which also goes nowhere before and after you "killed" Graves). i wished for the ending, the last missile did end up hitting some important location like DC or whatever and general Shepard goes to blame task force 141 and they become disavowed. This was the ending is dramatic and gives us a better/compelling reason to hate/want to kill Shepard in the next game and would be 141's low point and its up to them to work off the book to clean their name and take down Shepard. Like the last mission had so much potential, well the whole campaign had so much potential.

Spawning on the sides of maps or in random crevices in the middle somewhere completely kills the flow of the map every single time. Nothing worse than spawning on the side of a map and having an enemy round the corner behind where you just spawned and kill you 1-2 seconds after spawning in, due to no fault of your own.

    "Gaz" has already survived an entire game longer than Gaz did in the original Modern Warfare, where he died in the end mission of CoD 4. Also it feels like they just called Kyle Garrick "Gaz" because that name holds value to people who played the original.
    Then you have Ghost, who also survived longer than he did in the original and even entered this new trilogy early for fanfare during the launch of Warzone.
    Soap got here late, and we all know he's going to survive unlike he did in the original MW3 which was arguably as emotional as Roach and Ghost.
    And I would not be surprised if we see Yuri and/or Roach in the next game, and they also don't do anything with them either.

    • @KarazolaX
      @KarazolaX Год назад +2

      It was starting to get to be a problem with by MW2 with all the character death. Al Fulani and Jackson were the only player deaths who felt like they were really earned. They originally killed off the whole squad besides soap, price surviving was a retcon that really didn’t make sense and they had to make up some reason why they’d gulag him and not soap if he survived.
      MW2 starts killing off players in more big twists, and it was having diminishing returns. Soap’s death wasn’t good, it felt forced by then, and just kept him from having a complete arc to his story.
      They were right to pull things back, it’s probably why they had to reboot the setting in the first place: everyone was dead and none of the classic characters really made it out of MW3 alive.
      They’ve gone overboard with it but at least the characters aren’t being gotten rid of and they have more things to do.

    Infinity Ward & Activision really are the rot on the franchise, and it abstractly comes down to them thinking that the Golden Age CoDs (MW2/BO2) were somehow irrelevant or obsolete, while the CoDs of that time made CoD a household name. You don't look back to the time when you were the most successful and throw it all out uncritically. Right when Call of Duty was truly the most popular, when friends and family got on the headsets to have fun, the aforementioned knuckleheads above thought they knew better. If CoD movement is supposed to be fluid and fast, Infinity Ward will make sure it stays slow. If CoD awareness is supposed to include the traditional minimap so good players sort of mentally map their situation, Infinity Ward throws out red dots. If the time-to-kill is supposed to generally give the one fired upon a window to respond, IW makes sure you die the second a pixel pops around a dim corner. IW knows that CoD players are informed, so they misrepresent and hide what their updates do. IW knows that CoD players have years-long criticisms; IW invites the feedback, but never meaningfully responds to it. IW knows that most people attached to CoD for a long time hate what they've done with the franchise, IW knows that professional players have criticisms, IW knows that they're lied to us.
    Between Activision and Infinity Ward, CoD has gotten insufferable.

    They’re just nostalgia baiting us with the name Modern Warfare, that’s it!! The campaign SUCKED!! Characters suck, villains sucks, filler missions, ugh!! Alejandro & Graves are great characters that the campaign story should’ve revolved more around with Valeria as the main villain imo. Hassan and Valeria are not believable or intimidating in any way. I love how Hassan crosses the border into the US just to go back across again, & when they actually capture the guy they’ve got to let him go because they don’t have a legal reason to hold him. 😂 Are you kidding me? He illegally crossed the border, works with the cartel, burned down houses IN THE USA, killed US OFFICERS & they can’t find a way to hold him?? “Creative writing,” I guess! 🤷🏾‍♂️ I agree that the AC-130 mission was too long & boring. Valeria is too cocky imo. She has information they need but wasn’t tortured or anything she just gives a little bit of the info so she can give a little more at the end. The OG MW characters would’ve gotten all the info they needed right then & there. Just ask Al Asad in CoD4, Waraabe & Volk in MW3. I agree with Ch0pper that the betrayal mission was bad. Why not make Laswell be the one who betrays TF141? While Ch0pper may like the Alone mission I didn’t really like it. The crafting system was not necessary imo. Soap is supposed to be a SF OPERATOR but doesn’t have any sort of weapons like a knife, tomahawk, doesn’t use the pieces of metal as weapons so he could grab a better weapon. You can’t convince me that all those houses, garages & bars didn’t have kitchen knives, screwdrivers, something he could use as weapons. Instead of the crafting system they could’ve had Soap save families from execution by the PMCs & because you help them they’ll help Ghost & Soap escape a bit easier by fighting the PMCs for their town as they make an escape. BTW Soap has a serious crush on Ghost I swear!! Killing Hassan doesn’t feel satisfying either, ohh wait, WTF WAS Ghost DOING FROM THAT BUILDING THE ENTIRE TIME? Ch0pper is right about the explanation of the missile that was launched in DOWNTOWN CHICAGO! It all feels lazy, & it is really. The name Modern Warfare is what carries it the same way it’ll carry it in the next game along with the name Makarov.

    This game has no soul. MW19, even with all the flaws (and it had A LOT), had so much passion and heart. Everything from the campaign to the soundtrack to even the multiplayer operators had so much soul and passion put into them.
    The campaign in 2019 might not have been very good and suffers from the same issues as 22 but it was at least cohesive and wasn’t held together by bubble wrap like 22’s is. It wasn’t random setpieces mishmashed together.
    The multiplayer in 2019 is incredibly bad at times but it at least had a skillgap. Was the skillgap minimal and unintentional? Yes. Slide canceling was obviously not an intended mechanic but it made the game so much more bearable and allowed for completely different kinds of strategies and tactics in a multiplayer experience that desperately needed that. MW22 took that already minimal skillgap and made it practically nonexistent. I don’t have a problem with slide canceling being removed, but removing reload canceling, shooting while sliding, bunnyhopping, nerfing jump ADS speed and making gameplay animations across the board slower in general is unacceptable. The servers and the spawns in 22 are somehow WORSE than 19’s. How does this even happen??? The PERK SYSTEM?? Who okay’d this??? Literally NOBODY asked for this nor did anyone campaign for it to be kept in the game after playing the beta.
    The operators is another grievance of mine because a lot of them in 2019 were really interesting and had phenomenal voice acting (like Bale, Minotaur, Mace, Talon, etc.) and actually spoke like real people. MW22’s operators suffer from the same problems as Cold War’s and Vanguard’s. They all feel like corny self-inserts (some of them are), wattpad fanfic characters or mallninja sonic OCs with voice acting to match. The inconsistencies in art design also piss me off. What the hell happened? MW19, even with all the wacky skins, still had a consistent art style and aesthetic. MW22’s makes zero fucking sense across the board. Why does Konig and a bunch of other wear airsoft/paintball shinpads and elbow pads lmfao??? Why do some many operators have ridiculous experimental helmets with ugly mandibles or masks? They even did this to the fucking campaign characters they put in the multiplayer by giving them all crappy skull masks. Another thing is that you are actively getting LESS from the battlepass. MW19 and Cold War gave you 2 extra alternate styles/colorways for each Battle Pass skin you unlocked, now you only get the one you unlock via the tier and the only extra SINGULAR alternate style you get is locked behind a 30$ paywall.
    Activision needs to also hurry up and decide wether they want these games to ACTUALLY be live service or not. There is zero excuse for this game to not have launched with MW19’s maps, operators, calling cards, emblems, etc. Especially considering how the current season revolves entirely around bringing back Nikto, an operator from Season 2 of 2019.

    I actually think this game had a top 7 or 8 campaign. The story below par for sure, and the villains were forgettable, but I thought the main characters were a lot more fleshed out than their counterparts in the original MW trilogy, and the gameplay was top tier. Every mission was a breath of fresh air, and I never felt like I got too much of anything. While I think it ridded the back of the OG MW2 too much, it was just different enough that I was able to forgive it to an extent. And with the second to none gameplay, I was having fun at every moment of this campaign.

      I feel like the reboot saga has the opposite issue with the original trilogy; instead of linear shooting you can do some actual creative stuff this time; instead of Michael Baying your way through the plot you just do much more mundane stuff like breaching houses and stuff; instead of having cool over the top evil villains that you love to hate, now you either have shady bureaucrats or boring generic warlord No.47489 with barely any characterization. The game basically has a "teenage" syndrome, where it tries to hard to be different from the original/parents (with some success) but too afraid to do anything too radical and inevitably half ass through a lot of things

    Activision puts out MW2022 to irritate players with horrible UI, maps and undercooked content. The goal is for players to instantly hate the game, but micro-transactions to make it better and guarantees the purchase of the next game out of desperation. Months before the reveal of the next game, Activision releases a bunch of new maps and weapons to momentarily boost its reputation so people are fooled into buying the next game, before the toxic cycle restarts.

    Mw2 has great aspects. I also did not play since MW 2019 and this game got me back into cod. I only play multiplayer. The gun play is great. The game feels smooth. Sound effects when getting hit markers or getting kills is satisfying in my opinion. It’s lacking in a lot of things obviously; red dots, foot steps are loud as hell, kill-streaks are lacking as well, I’d say 70% of the maps are not good/trash. The camo grind is easier, but still challenging. Overall I think this was a good game despite some glaring obvious flaws. I’d give it a 7.5/10.

    In my opinion, the game is great, although I do agree with the community that the movement could be even better, or that the company should pay more attention to multiplayer rather than warzone, and that there is almost no replay value, its still a good game (aside from the ingame store bundles). Enjoyed the campaign, the co op missions are a lot better than the missions in MW2019, love the new weapon progression system on multiplayer, and love the verdansk feeling in vondel that a lot of people have been asking to bring back. Then again, while it may loose sweaty tryhards because of how sometimes the game feeling is a lot slower than previous titles, it can be a chance for new players that are new to the franchise, to have a better opportunity to engage with the series. Then again, people are allowed to have opinions of the game, yet I feel that a lot of people complain mainly because they have been drained out of call of duty, simply because they started playing since the beggining. They already got their hit of dopamine with black ops 2 and mw2.

    I think MW2 is a decent CoD, the MP is pretty engaging, I hit crimson in ranked play, and am currently going for orion (my first camo grind) I dont mind sbmm, I hold over a 2kd and as a more hardcore player, it keeps the game engaging honestly, I am always given a challenge to overcome, I do understand why a more casual player wouldnt like it though, I think the maps are decent overall, especially the launch maps, I am not a fan of most of the dlc maps, I think not having red dots on the mini map is a good decision, you are forced to be engaged in your environment, also the compass gives you a general direction of where the enemies are, I think the movement is in a decent spot, its a bit more methodical, and less of a crutch, there are still things like snaking for people to abuse though. As for campaign, I loved the first half, up until the highway chase, that is the part where I mentally checked out and stopped caring, the gameplay strayed from pseudo realism to cheap gimmicky nonsense mission after mission, armoured enemies are terrible, I think I died more in this campaign on regular, than my veteran playthrough of WaW, overall subpar campaign and I have no plans to revisit it all. As for spec ops, HOT TAKE, but I enjoyed 2019's spec ops operations more than this game, again armoured enemies ruin it for me, 2019 was actually really hard and you had to comunicate and coordinate with your team to actually beat it, and you got some decent rewards as well to show for it.

      Atleast someone said it, Red dots on minimap is for noobs. It takes no skill to know the exact players position just by looking at a map. Movement was the biggest skill gap that was lowered. Outside of dropshotting/snaking, there really is no counterplay movement since Sliding/jump shotting is cumbersome.

    • @colonelsanders7351
      @colonelsanders7351 10 месяцев назад

      @@danjjjatest I honestly could go either way with movement, I just personally prefer when engagements are more methodical, I would take mw2 or 2019s MP over MW3 any day of the week, as mw3s engagements are quite far from that, as I can just see where everyone is at exactly all the time, as well as the fact the good positioning or route running just doesn't really pay off as much anymore, mostly due to 150 hp, most gunfights just boil down into slide canceling and jump shotting into each other, and whoever has the higher dps weapon usually wins, which is just incredibly boring if I'm being quite honest.

    • @danjjjatest
      @danjjjatest 10 месяцев назад

      @@colonelsanders7351 Yea positioning seems to be more essential without the minimap. However, IW really screwed up after nerfing the sliding/jumpshotting. Removing that counterplay movement just prevents players from challenging.

      @@danjjjatest Like I said I could go either way, but I don't particularly think movement or the lack there of, make or breaks a game, CoD was never a movement shooter in the first place, but in all fairness 2019 has my favorite mp out of all of them.

      @@colonelsanders7351 The old CoD games atleast had B-hopping which was useful for challenging corners. It shows their total lack of game knowledge when they design maps for camping (MW2019) and then nerf movement for all the wrong reasons. Even the new Perk system made no sense. Perks are designed for playstyle and IW puts a freaking timer on it before you can get the perks you want? Is that what CoD players really wanted????

    Campaign: I feel they designed it with the purpose of training the player for Warzone... Enemies with plates, Driving in 3rd person, crafting is similar to looting. In my opinion, the thing that is been missed in this campaign is make the player feel strong emotions, like the drama that the original mw had (the way Zakhaev says "they killed my son, Price and Griggs being downed in the end, Ghost, Roach, Soap, Yuri being killed in mw2 and mw3) or the shock (the Makarov shooting, Russians invading USA and then Europe) or the anger (Shepherd killing Ghost and Roach straightforward).
    Multiplayer: For me it's good in general, I get the idea for removing the red dot on the minimap, and also I get the comments from @Ch0pper about this. My idea about this is they can make something in between about this, and it could be a red area instead of a red dot, something like a heatmap. So you know where the enemies are but not a pinpoint location. Also, they could make this red area dynamic (larger or smaller) if the player uses a suppresor, fires in long bursts etc.
    Warzone: I don't have something to say about BR and DMZ, I'm actually very new to these modes, I've been playing for only a month.
    Btw am I the only one who gets confused with the names of the weapons? I get that it's a license issue but c'mon, it's Activision, I bet they can make a deal with at least one company (HK, FN or whatever). I remember a similar thing years ago with mw3, featuring some Remington guns with their logo.
    My conclusion is the same, the game isn't bad, but there's many improvements to make. The fate of the franchise is in their hands, they can make mw3 a masterpiece but also a piece of junk.
