    I've binge watched the CSR and this series today and am amazed. 10 out of 10 for quality and effort... I would have to put you up as one of the best YT'ers when it comes to exploring via 4WD for all the the things you have shown and and some of the information you have given. I look forward to hitting those roads myself one of these days but sadly I'm stuck here caring for the old man till he's passed. There's so many places I want to go see, set up camp and perhaps launch a paramotor and see by air

    This was an absolutely amazing series - better than anything on the tv. I went to the Kimberley back in 2008 on a group tour and it brought back so many memories watching this. Has made me realise I must return to Australia one day

    Good to see you driving around at the correct speed for the terrain and conditions and not flogging the vehicle and track for show like some other channels can sometimes do. :-)

Now that I am coming to the end of my travels rapidly I am really enjoying your videos as you explore the places we visited so long ago. Wolfe Creek Crater is something else! Regarding your CSR trip, what is the longest distance between fuel supplies, I carry 160l with a range of about 1000kms working on about 16l per 100kms, I would be starting at the top end of the track? Thinking Billiluna to Kunuwiritji, then Kunuwiritji to Wiluna being the longest stretches bêtween fuel?

    • @GavinGillett
      @GavinGillett  7 лет назад +1

      Matt Ledger thats a tricky question because I used the same amount of fuel on the 1100km segment as I did on the 700km segment. I used 140L on each section. :)

    Gav thanks for the series, we have pretty much binged watched over the last couple of days..now waiting for the next episode of the ABH. We never really had a desire to do the CSR (as we enjoy the creature comforts of our Kimberley Kamper these days) but the interest has now been sparked. Thanks again and look forward to future videos.

    • @GavinGillett
      @GavinGillett  4 года назад +1

      Thanks mate, I'm glad you have considered the CSR. I think you will love every minute of it. Leave the camper in Newman and its a quick run to Halls Creek or Wiluna for the start. If you need to leave the track Newman is a convenient half way point.

    • @AshleyPearceImages
      @AshleyPearceImages 4 года назад +1

      Gavin Gillett yes a couple of good options. Do you think the northern section is better or south? we would set up to do it without the camper. our new GXL cruiser starts it’s build today, hopefully have my hands on it within a fortnight 👍🏻

    • @GavinGillett
      @GavinGillett  4 года назад +1

      @@AshleyPearceImages Nice. Hmm thats a tricky one but if I could only do half I would do the northern section. However, the southern section is faster and has better water. I prefer the North :)

    • @AshleyPearceImages
      @AshleyPearceImages 4 года назад +1

      @@GavinGillett thanks for that feedback, was thinking the north, but begs the question, would you do it north to South or doesn’t matter. Going to grab a copy of @Western4wdrivers Canning Stock route guide that Phil Bianci has been involved with to give me a few more ideas to ponder. I reckon ABH will get done first though.

    • @GavinGillett
      @GavinGillett  4 года назад +1

      @@AshleyPearceImages I like North to south, it's the steeper side of the dunes but that also means they are smoother. As long as the tour groups dont chop it up before you.
      Also, North to South has a slight Western slant to it so you never have the sun in your eyes no matter how early or late you drive. The same cant be said for the South to North trip :D

    Love your work Gavin! Did the Kimberley trip in 2016 but the opposite direction and then went out to the Horizontal Falls as well (but not by 4WD lol) and totally agree with your assessments of the Kimberley section in terms of what was great and also about the huge numbers of tourists - guess I was one by default though. 2016 was a much drier winter and I was amazed by how much more water there was in your videos by comparison. Your drone work is excellent and being by yourself on this series must have made the filming quite difficult at times BUT you nailed it. Keep up the great work!

      Stephen Kite thanks mate. You are correct, no drones allowed there. Didnt even bother trying to get a permit because like Mitchell Falls I know what the answer would be given helicopter movement's in the area. :) just out of interest I had no less than 15 permits for my 6 week trip through the Kimberley and down the CSR. Permits are a nightmare

      So we’ll head to port Augusta, head north towards Marree. Head off on the strezlecki to innamincka. And all the sites on the way.
      Further north to Birdsville.
      Across the Simmo.
      To Dalhousie Springs, Mt Dare and Finke.
      Up the Old Ghan to Alice Springs.
      Across the Tanami to Halls Creek. Up to Kunanurra. Do the Gibb and all the sites.
      To Broome. Back along the highway to Halls Creek. Wolfe Creek. Turn right at Billiluna and follow the CSR like you did. Down to Wiluna. Across the Gunbarrel to Warburton.
      Down the Great Central Rd to Laverton. Across the Anne Beadell to Coober Pedy.
      Up the highway to Marla. Down the Oodnadatta to Marree. And then down to home through Adelaide.
      Should be a rippa trip.

      tread lightly, cross country the next adventure is huge. I will be filming from March until July. I'm filming the HEMA Top 5 most remote tracks in Australia. I'm filming Esperence to Streaky bay without touching the blacktop much. Googs track, Strzlecki track, Madigan line, Birdsville Track, Gary Junction, Talawana, Kidson and I'm filming from Perth to Alice and back via Anne Beadell and the Gunbarrel Highway and I'm filming the Finke desert race. I think that about covers it. A years worth of content in 3 months
