my expensive AF router (fritzbox 7590) recently stopped working for no apparent reason. no sign of life, PSU pulsing. to cut a long story short, this nearly 200eur router was taken out by _a single cracked ceramic cap_ that shorted a power rail and effectively bricked the whole unit. any average joe would've just replaced the whole thing because of one failed ceramic cap worth what? 2ct, if that? 🤦♂
I am trying to fix my own Series X device. I have diagnosed a short due to a chip called ATMP 155. Any idea what is it and is it easy to find replacement?
I need help! I got the console for repair, no power. PSU problem, I fixed it and it still won't turn on. Short circuit on the motherboard, problem with the southbridge, replaced and the console turns on and works normally. I put the PS4 game on, it loads normally and I go to play it, it asks me to update the console. This is where my problems begin, the update does not go through at all, via the Internet, USB, not even from safe mode. I tried everything from safe mode, nothing worked. I always get "can't complete update". I also tried reinstalling the system software, it finished and started the update and again it threw "can't complete update". Could this be a problem due to the bad southbridge I got, although that doesn't make sense to me. I suspect a bad SSD controller, is it possible that the console turns on normally, loads the game but cannot be updated, it seems a miracle to me but possible. And now I'm stuck in safe mode. I guess because I reset several times.... I was informed that it could be because the motherboard and disc drive are not original, they are from different consoles and should be married. But I contacted the owner and he says they are genuine. Is it something to do with the BIOS? But that doesn't make much sense to me either. I mostly suspect a bad SSD controller, but it's strange to me that the console could be turned on normally but not updated.
Hi phil hope your keep well.. woundering if you can have an input on a issue iv just got with an xbox one S Came in no display hdmi filters all good decided to replaced retimer and when i connected power cable to test the fan spins up like the system is on but no power light comes on unless i press the button still no display so i removed retimer incase i shorted a pin with out noticeing but the xbox still does the same with ic removed dont know whats going on her im well experienced when it comes to charnging ports and retimers but im at a loss with this xbox appricate your input if possible
@TheCod3r. I’m hoping you can help me with my faulty Xbox series X. If I do not turn it on for a few days, it’s refuses to turn on via the Xbox controller and I have to get up and turn it on and then it resets. I have previously sent it into the tech centre via CeX but not only can they not replicate the problem (it works fine for them) they’ve also managed to add scuff marks to it. Could you help with this, please? Because the problem is intermittent.
It sounds like your issue may be with the controller to be honest. I've never come across that issue but it would be very difficult for a technician to diagnose given the length of time it takes to happen
@@TheCod3r Thank you. I really appreciate the reply. I would normally agree with it being the controller at fault but this morning my Xbox would not even power up with the power button on the Xbox console itself. I simply don’t know what to do next.
My sons xbox one console turn off all of a sudden he turned it on again it said needs a update he tried to update it then it turned off again put it on again stayed on for 30 seconds then turned off so dont no what the problem could be can you help
What stunt? It was his TV not a customer's and it was an accident. Accidents happen it's real life. At least he shows his mistakes unlike some others who act like they're perfect.
The other day when I was home on lunch, to my surprise my xbox series x wouldn't turn on. The first thing tried was moving outlets. I did that a total of three times all with other things plugged in and working at the same time. We know it isn't an outlet 100%. Second thing i did was move it to a completely new outlet as the previous 3 and plugged it back in with only the power cord plugged in and tried to power it on via wired controller and still to no avail. At this point we know it isn't a broken button and the controler was wired so it had direct connect therefor would have almost certainly turn on the xbox as soon as it was plugged in and the button was pressed. It's like a year old new one of amazon. I've watched a few videos now and I have a multi meter and hot iron I can maybe fix it if a visual inspection provides fruitful. Does anyone have any pointers or advice? Maybe have has the same or similar issue?
I actually told to myself at 6:24 "This cap doesn't look right". :D Good job, as always, man.
Great video as always Phil. Im learning a lot with the diagnostic methods you employ. Keep them coming 👍

Hey hey. 100K subs. Congratulations 🎉
A world of difference that work pad is then that awful blue one 👍🏿
Awesome, thanks.👍
Nice video and fix mate
Interesting to see it power on with the other southbridge board.. never seen that before. Have Microsoft actually change something with the pairing???
Yeah me neither. I think they may have done but I need to do more tests I think
How much stuff is chucked away because of a cheap cap !? it's the penny pinching company's that make millions but make us suffer ! 😡

You would have thought that a board layout drawing and schematic would have been done by someone by now.
Happy New Year Phil!
Happy new year bud
Congratulations on hitting 100k 👍 another Xbox lives another day.
Nicely done bro 🥳
happy new year!
Nice first upload of 2024!
hey is this a known issue with the series X, switching the box on, the fan stops spinning 2-4 seconds after, then it shuts down?
Hello mate, on the southbridge board on my XSX, the 12V Gated is showing OL, any suggestions?

I may have missed it, but what is that thermal camera you are using. Seems alot different than most I have seen.

You can book it in for repair but I'd have to look at it to know what's wrong. It depends what version of the xbox you have as to the cost though
