    The whole country is dead from nuclear annihilation but gosh damn the legislative branch of our democracy is still running!

    And the kings of the earth, the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” (Revelation 6:15-17)

      The book of Revelation would make a great action movie. Hollywood wouldn't touch it, Mel Gibson maybe. With the popularity of iron Man, Thor and the X-Men people are starving for heroes. They don't realize that real ones exist.

    Before now, whenever I was playing Fallout 76, I used to think to myself "Pshhh, this is so unrealistic. There's no way that there would just be a random microscope sitting around in a nuclear bunker."
    Lo and behold...
    There is a random microscope sitting around in a nuclear bunker.

      It’s also interesting that the original Fallout hit (Fallout 3) was based in DC. I wont spoil the game (it’s so good!) but the dynamics within each bunker and the connection between them was also not surprising to me at all.

      You know, mankind's been trying to kill each other off since the
      beginning of time. Now, we finally have the power to finish the job.
      Ain't nothing gonna matter once those nukes start flying; we'll all be
      dust. And the lawmakers will be the most powerful men on the cinder.

      If a nuke Hit DC then only people in the close proximity would die. There would still be several hundred million Americans left. Using NukeMap 2.0, a 10.5 Megaton Hydrogen bomb called the "Ivy Mike", it is estimated 1 million would die if it detonated inside central DC.
      There would still be a need for lawmakers.

      Exactly, an entire extra floor or maybe more was locked down. They said that CSX bought some of the bunker and has tons of data stored in it. They called it CSXip, doesn’t really add up if you ask me.

    • @__WJK__
      @__WJK__ 4 года назад +7

      @Bill Bergendah - I wouldn't be the least surprised if there are modern tunnels that run below greenbrier ... so that greenbrier could be accessed from below if truly needed. Greenbrier is still a very capable secondary shelter and if nothing else/at the very least, there are still some very useful things that could be scavenged from greenbrier.

    • @aarongreer7621
      @aarongreer7621 3 года назад +6

      They've got a data center spanning a good deal of the bunker, or so we're told. Of course, US service-members in Navy uniform still show up in the Main Dining Room on occasion, so there is still military activity in (or possibly under) the hotel. When the new Casino was being built, they put ventilation in places where ventilation doesn't belong, so it isn't unlikely that the US government has built another Navy listening post underneath the hotel. After Sugar Grove got shut down, they needed a new one, so why not build it around pre-existing infrastructure? In addition, a couple guys found new security cameras on water-intake pipes out on the golf course a while back, so the area is definitely being watched for intrusive activity. Everyone with eyes and at least half a brain-cell can see there's military activity in the hotel. It's simply a matter of figuring out why.

    Don't kid yourself, "hidden in plain sight" remains in vigor, same as it ever was. The Greenbrier may look dated and quaint but that's just the top end facade(civil war relic). This is a 5star resort with an airport adjacent and on a rail line, not to mention hidden in the pines a brand new "conning tower" air intake. Beneath the airport lies the inspiration for an expanded concept beneath Denver's DIA. Cheers

      Not at all. The entire public was aware of the construction, but it was disguised as another area of the hotel. Hell, it was even open to the public. People literally were walking around inside the bunker without even knowing that it was a bunker. It was right there under their noses.

    • @tedpeterson1156

    • @__WJK__
      @__WJK__ 4 года назад +1

      Actually wouldn't be the least surprised if all recent/modern bunkers were connected (and strictly accessed) via a complex system of deep underground long-distance tunnels. Oh and re top-secret construction projects... it's actually fairly common to use ultra-strict disclosure agreements and/or use multiple (dozens) of building contractors to build separate stages of a top-secret structure... which keeps contractors (and their employees) from seeing all the blueprints and also keeps one contractor and their employees from seeing an entire project completed start to finish.

    Predictable for politicians to ensure their own safety before all else. This place may be obsolete (and the hotel itself looks dated and tacky on the inside anyway) but the dirty politicians still have Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center, Virginia (FEMA). Homeland Security controls 22 government agencies (including US Customs, Federal Protective Service, Coast Guard, Secret Service and FEMA), which makes them the third largest government agency behind the Military and Veterans Affairs. Homeland Security has way too much power and they answer to no one. And when Gen. Kelly ran it, his speech sounded more fascist than any one of trumps.

    I went through that bunker like 25 years ago when I was 10-12 years old. That was not “radioactive decontamination” at the beginning it was Delousing.
    In short that place could not populate a fraction of the house and senate.(not including their family)
    Ps edit. It definitely got a face lift since I visited. Their communication center was an empty room with lots of drop ceiling panels missing and Cat 5 cable strung all over the place and I believe they said the equipment was salvaged and I thought, “for what?” It’s 30+ years old🤔 In truth I think it was a bomb shelter for rich people.
    From what I remember I don’t think it could have sustained 100 people for more than a month. It has been a loooong time, so maybe I remember wrong.

      There way to the bunker than what most ppl see. Also u got to remember we did not have as many house seats 40+ years ago bc country was way smaller back then. But trust me there is a lot more to that place than even the tour tells!!

    Is it possible they developed a newer bomb that can penetrate further down into the ground so they built a bunker underneath this bunker in the video. It would do way less damage by having another bunker on top to absorb a good bit of the blow and radiation.

    What a waste of money, why does it haft to be decommissioned just because its not a secret, when the new bunker gets exposed, will they decommission that one to? I hope this place isn't a total lose and they let in the public in the event of something bad happening

    The pure irony of a nuclear bunker made for congress is that many won't survive long enough to make it to the installation, meaning there won't be enough congressmen to have a quorum, so no legislation would ever get a vote. 😅
