A fucking disgrace that they abondend this game. They could have made bank making a undead nightmare rdr2 and maybe add DLCs with cut content. Also, I find it hilarious how detailed and thought over this game is yet they overlooked some things like not being able to close your jacket, not being able to take off off hand holster etc. But not every game is perfect from the start which is why its so sad they abandoned it.
People say(o they wasn’t making enough profit?) which may b true but they didn’t even try….Red dead is a grinding game GtA is a modded account having one glitch for 50 mill type game ,GTA 5 was dying that’s why there so many fuxking armored tanks and a fuxking flying bike with damn rockets on it and the nerfed it when the game was dying but I’m 100% sure tht R* manipulates there numbers so they can say GTA is active which is complete BS
@grumpy-wolfman thanks I looked him up and subbed. If anyone else is trying to find his channel, putting Red Dead Redemption 2 behind his channel name helped alot.
@@fartloudYT disagree because online has $ and gold that so they could make $ earn eazy and fast and most importent things cost $ still (roles are not importent yes they are a bonus),also its still an online mode so sure it has to be little grindy
It's just the best game ever made. There is no other game like it where it just sucks you into its world with all its beautiful visuals, amazing writing, and plethora of details that leave your mouth open.
I also believe it is the best game ever created, it's beautiful but on top of that the mechanics and movement are absolutely unmatched by any other game I have ever seen or played ❤
@@HerotsLamentI highly disagree. RD2 is still one of the most impressive games ever made even after all these years. The only other games I was this lost in was The Last of Us series. It’s a shame this game didn’t win game of the year. Rockstar made a game people will be talking about forever. I’ll be honest I won’t be mad if GTA 6 isn’t as good because RD2 is still ahead of its time in my opinion.
@@Lust4VAlENTiNE it is very impressive yes, it has some of the best side quests in a game ever, even coming close to surpassing the witcher 3's countless spectacular sidd quests. The physics of the game are amazing yes. It's part of why I played red dead online for years doing pvp but the game does suffer from the modern day open world dilemma of having lots of empty spaces with absolutely nothing to do in them or interact with the spaces. This is more of a rdo issue than story mode but it's still true for story mode as well. But I came from playing some of the very best games of all time like the witcher 3 and skyrim so I have extremely high standards when it comes to games. To me red dead 2 was easily the third or fourth best game to come out last generation of consoles behind the witcher 3, persona 5 and bloodborne.
@@HerotsLament It’s a shame Rockstar let this game die because it’s potential is very high. If they did a bit more work to the online I wouldn’t have much to complain about. I wish they went more into the survival elements in RDO but it is what it is at this point.
@@seruyeh6123 you can go back to Guarma in single player. It takes a bit of time to get there, u go outside the map to do it but it is indeed possible. I've done it many times 👍it's the best place to use photo mode imo
Yep. I'm still in my 3rd playthrough, in the epologue which I started in September of 2021. Like PVP Cat, I play for the immersion, and to relax. Im a retired old stoner, so......😊
is it better than other open worlds? RDR1 and witcher 3 and even skyrim failed to hold onto me until the end, despite how good they felt they end becoming boring and grindy.
No, you can do it a player. But as a RUclipsr based around the game, it's a pit. Saying that! That are noobs griefing in Valentine. Which is kinda funny. It's the circle.
Ever since i played rdr2, every other game seems boring, i cant find any other games that can compare to rdr2 with graphics, free roam, npcs, & attention to detail
There's this quote from Westworld that I found profoundly fitting and describing exactly my relationship with the game and what fits for a large group of GTA and RDR players: "The guests don't return for the obvious things we do, the garish things. They come back because of the subtleties, the details. They come back because they discover something they imagine no one had ever noticed before...something they've fallen in love with."
@@TheMysteriousgirl9 Yeah I feel like RDR2 took a lot of inspiration from the first season of Westworld, certainly a lot of the aesthetic, costumes, guns. Not just hurr durr of course it is western, but like carbon copy style. And the whole thing about the man in black being a crazy gamer looking for a secret mystery to solve, completing side missions over and over, literally skipping dialogue and knowing the preprogrammed npc actions etc. Then the whole thing about the boundaries of the world and the mechanics that stop NPCs from reaching them, and players also being unable to go there.
@@monkeonthee Well yes of course, still it was super eerie for me to watch Westworld and constantly having to remind myself that it predates RDR2, and likewise RDR2 was already deep in development, yet "copied" so many details from Westworld. Like the Bastille Saloon looks damn near identical with the Westworld one. But of course both are heavily influenced by preexisting Western tropes and cliches, so obviously they look alike
It's been 3500 hours over 5 years and I am still playing RDR2. I don't play online anymore, nothing left to do. But the story, I play over and over again, each time in a different way.
Completely agree. I am a girl. I like horses and as a child I played games like my little pony, 102 dalmatians, horse games, and now I only play LOL, Hogwarts... I hate shooters, and my ADHD only lets me play games that are visually pleasing. I simply started playing this game because of the horses. But then I fell in love with Arthur, with the characters, NPCs, and most of all the immersion, the beautiful wildlife and environment. I love this game so much, it's so unique, I feel like crying every time I think about how they abandoned the online version, and I can only hope and dream that I will get to play RDR3 in this life.
I am a guy, I've always loved fast paced shooters, did not like horses until I've became a My Little Pony fan. I loved this game since my friend gifted it for winning a dare. I do have ADHD though. For me this game was the first game which had a serious story with adorable characters. This game isn't fast-faced which helped me to be more patient than I usually was before. Caring for horses felt rewarding as an outlaw and I grew fond of them. Then I tried online which is just the ultimate way of expressing yourself. I could hunt, buy horse care, play with my posse. Buy horses later. I could go on and on. I am still pissed that Rockstar abandoned it and I will never buy GTA VI because of this.
Try an RP server if you’re on PC. There are a lot of RedM servers with varying degrees of roleplay. If you wanna a purely Sandbox server with a huge horse focus, try the Rift Trails. If you wanna a “RDO but better” feel try Dakota River Bend. Both have amazing community 😊
Cat, this is a great video. Probably my favorite one that you've done. I loved hearing the stories about your childhood and all the reasons why you love Red Dead. 👏👏
My mother, a non-gamer older lady who tends to make fun of video games, likes me to play RDR2 when she’s around just so she can relax and watch the scenery and feel immersed in the realistic little details. RDR2 remains my happy place to escape to. There are maybe two other games that give me the same feeling of coming home, one of them being Stray-if its open world(s) were larger, RDR2’s hold over my life might be at risk...
I sat on a chair opposite the Gunsmith in Annesburg Online game. Fell off the chair as the leg was broken. Did it about 5 times. Went back the next day and it was fixed. Love all the little realistic oddities in this game.
Well done Cat! I agree. As I'm an old gamer and remember all the Westerns from the 70s, In RDR2 I always enjoy discovering small callbacks to those films. Brilliant production Cat!Thank you for your time👍
Having a bad day in life, I can go play a little RDR2 and live and see a different time. Take the bad day out of my head and see a world that is almost real. The weather changes, the vegetation moves with the weather, your cold feeling, put a coat on. You control the life you are playing, can't control real life, well you can here on RDR2. one does not have to do missions, events, challenges, just enjoy the country, the details and it can change your mood for the better.
I can relate to this on so many levels. You've explained to me exactly why I still play online so much. It's a form of meditation for me and I didnt even realise until I saw this video. The grinding of Daily Challenges for Gold, Collector role for money and Trader for the joy of hunting all bring great peace to my mind. Thank you for your videos and showing me other people still love this game too ❤
Well said, and I'm in full agreement. Especially about the calming, relaxing side of playing the game. Sometimes I load it up simply to enjoy a gentle walk or trot across the map. Right now, if I had to choose only one game to play for the rest of my life, this would be the one, with or without future RDO support.
It is true. I was playing while watching this video. I just started my 5th story mode playthrough. I've been playing since release. I'll take a long break but I always come back. Nothing else compares.
I agree wholeheartedly Cat and this might be why I still haven't achieved 100% completion. I get distracted with sightseeing and love nothing more than just getting on my horse and seeing where we end up. Outlaws for life 🐎
Thank you for giving the rest of us a voice and continuing to tell the world why we love this game, even though Rockstar wishes we'd all rot in hell. F*ck you, Rockstar. #SaveRedDeadOnline
This is brilliant! Perfectly captures the reasons why I keep coming back and just can't move on. Also, I really enjoyed your personal nostalgia connection with the western movies when you were growing up. Thank you for making this video, Cat. I really related to it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I just love this game. I grew up in it pretty much. It helped me to see and enjoy some things in daily routine that I've never noticed before. It brought me this feeling, when you just ride somewhere. It's far-far away, but you still ride and behold all the landscapes passing by. You might never arrive at your destination, but this journey was still worth trying. This immersion, those emotions, it never bored me. It brought me feeling of peace.
Your English is perfectly fine. And we love your accent. It's part of your cool personality and we can understand everything you are saying. So I wouldn't worry about language barriers. Also, yes this game is absolutely amazing. My father and I have been playing it since launch and it is one of my favorites and it is his number 1 favorite. He's 67 years old and plays Red Dead any chance he gets. I also do the same thing while playing online, listening to a podcast or music playlist while fishing and hunting. Love your videos, Cat! I only discovered your videos recently but they are very informative and I love the fact that there's no annoying streamer fluff like other RUclipsrs have. Your videos are straight to the point and I like that. Keep up the good work!
8:38 guilty as charged. There have been plenty of times when I'm playing RDO and you are also streaming. And I love playing while listening to your live-stream like a podcast. It leads to some funny moments as well...like when I was doing a bounty once, and you got attacked by a cougar on the live-stream, and I panicked thinking my bounty hunt with 6 bounties is about to get ruined, only to realize it was PVP Cat getting attacked by another cat.
I still replay story mode over and over and over again because it's a true masterpiece of art. The world is breathtakingly gorgeous and so alive. It's by far the best game ever made
Once Upon A Time In The West is just perfectly done, such a good reference and good reminder to revisit that movie. Great video PVP, you put it perfectly into words - 5 years, I haven't moved on either. Lvl 830 and still going strong, and three 100% single player runs.
I agree with everything you said Cat! I also find it calming because I can do things at my own pace, at my own speed in this beautiful and dynamic world. My favourite western is Once Upon a Time in the West. Thanks for another awesome video!
A beautiful love letter to a beautiful, if neglected game. I echo what you said here. I really started playing online during the pandemic in extended lockdown, and it’s immersive wide landscapes and relaxing gameplay was EXACTLY what I needed then. I stopped playing around a year (?) ago after the “funeral” but this video makes me want to have another look, even if just for a visit. Thanks for all you do Cat.
I played through it pretty fast in 2018 on XBox, but didn't stay with it online like I did RDR1. I am currently going through it again, VERY SLOWLY, in Story mode on PS5. I am doing tons of things I missed on the first play-through, and having a blast. I am hearing all kinds of conversations by chosing different options than I did years ago, and even managed to get all of the animals on Guarma! So, I am currently doing online with XB and story on PS5... and still love it.
Bro, imo the second run is absolutely the best (expecially if you play it after some years) you get to see all the details that you surely Missed on your first walkthrough. Great choice! You won’t forget anything about your 2nd run
Cat what a awesome video, you hit the nail on the head , to quote Bat Masterson in the film "Tombstone" "I aint got the words " but you have , well done , I too cant move on , beautiful , "I aint got the words "
Hi Cat! I just completed Red Dead 2 today and I mean "COMPLETED" i achieved 100% completion, completed the compedium, every animal, every plant, weapon, gear you name it i have it. I've done everything that the game can offer and I feel like I just can't stop so i started it again and i want to do it again i just don't want to stop. I play since 2021 september, most of my time is in Red Dead Online I'm level 230+ right now and can't stop playing this game is just too good. I'm just here to say I feel what you feel thanks for showing me the game and making me fell in love with it. I watch you since god knows what and everytime you post a video im watching it. You're the reason i started playing this game so thank you Cat!
A year and a half ago, I had gotten my first gaming console. A PS5. Before the PS5, I would always play mobile games on my Ipad, but when I found out about RDR2, I would spend hours watching people play this masterpiece on youtube. When I got my PS5, I immediately bought RDR2. Since that day I have not stopped. Every single day I play this game. You might call me a video game addict, but this game is just too awesome to stop playing. I feel a connection to the RDR2 world, the characters, and more. When I play the game, I forget all my bad thoughts, and the real world behind. I immerse myself into the 1800s of the old west. I have brought my Social Studies grade in school from a D to a A+. Because RDR2 taught me a love for history. I will always love this game, and I will never stop playing it until the game literally breaks. Best game ever ❤
Your story is awesome. This game just ignited your passion for videogames. Keep on playin it bro, but remember that there are many other games out there that deserve your attention and will have a special place in your heart. Nothing beats rdr2 tho. And I play videogames since I was 3 years old
You get me Cat!!! I had horses from a young age...this game is super immersive! I play by myself most of the time online...I just love every aspect of what you described...it's uncanny how many things you described is how I feel, even if Rockstar has abandoned it, I play nothing else really 😊 It's an amazing world, kinda wish I was born in that time...simpler times...
Agreed…I still haven’t finished the game, I’m too busy just roaming around the world, hunting, fishing, interacting with npc’s. I just love the world, can’t explain it any other way. 🤷🏽♂️
Yes man I just played thru the story again recently and this game is astounding. Crazy that it released 5 years ago and still nothing has even come close to this game, graphically and narratively
Being stuck with a permanent injury that keeps me indoors most of the time it provides a level of immersion and exploration that keeps me coming back to it despite many other sandbox-style games that I've played over the years, and I've been playing this since beta on the PS. I had to get it for PC so I could enjoy the better graphics, I only wish I could access safe lobbies to enjoy it with others. Would be nice if more of the community could get together to share passwords for like-minded lobbies, from casual to pvp. I know RP is an option but I'm happy with the online game and just wish I could do some of the multiplayer events with others from time to time.
Amen. Immersion and relaxation after along day (especially with kids and noise) is one of the main reasons I can't quit. Even though I started after the abandonment of RDO. I loved and lived the story and would roam for hours and hours and completely forget about the story missions. Also I just didn't want it to end. It is sad there is no new content. But I still love to just enjoy the world and go fishing or taking samples (yes, I hate Harriet but take her missions very seriously)... This game brings me so much joy and aws. You nailed it with your video ❤
had the same thing of watching western movies as kid then someday i could afford rdr2 and as a rockstargames fan i still was blown away of how much detail and realism was put into this game the map the story everything was so well done its like time traveling into such a time and even without doing missions gives me such a calming vibe and btw if you didnt play it already you need to try kingdome come deliverance its like gta/rdr2 but in the middle ages but really rockstar like from how its made story and openworld like
Thank you for sharing your reasons, I appreciate you very much. We have been watching you for years and will keep doing so no matter what you decide to play or whatever you do.
Understand your take on love of westerns. Im originally from Tucson, the area cholla springs is modeled after. RDR1 grabbed my attention for this reason. Now Im in Florida and so going back there reminds me of home. Also I get tired of the hustle and bustle of life and RDR2/RDOs slow quiet pace where you can get away is much needed One added feature is the RDO snow. I know the map SOOOO well that its nice to sign in, turn off my compass and try to figure out where I am because it looks so so different! By the time it comes back next year its new again!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us Cat. You absolutely have hit the nail on the head with your description of why some of us do keep returning to RedDeadOnline. Yes the story is AMAZING and immersive but some days I just want to wander about. Hunt, fish.... collect flowers, cards. Yep it is just amazing. As to your description of growing up in post-Soviet Russia it sounds not completely dissimilar to some of the aspects of the U.S. during the 1970's and 1980's. We had "broadcast TV" that only had three or four channels. They went OFFLINE at night, something like midnight you got some sort of fanfare and then just STATIC. Saturdays you were lucky as a kid you could watch WESTERNS and old movie reruns , classic movies and even musicals like Oklahoma or The Music Man. Yep.... not so very, very different when you are just a kid. So thanks for sittin' a spell and talkin' with us. Peaceful Skies.
I completely agree with you. It's also beautiful to see that I'm not the only one that cannot move on from this game. I've searched so much for other experiences like this, triple A games or indie I couldn't care less, just to find myself coming back on Red Dead
I agree with everything. I'm replaying it now for the third time. I'm just stuck at chapter 2 just exploring stuffs then I went back to the camp, and I was surprised Uncle talking about our country Philippines or when Arthur is so drunk you can just drink coffee then his drunkenness will go away the number of details, they put in the game is so mind blowing.
Thank you for a beautiful video and story. Thank you for putting into words exactly how I feel about Red Dead Redemption. After over 4,000 hours of play between story mode and online, the game has become my other life. People who know will know. Others will never understand. Even without new content still the greatest role playing game ever. Thanks again for all of your great videos.
Don't be discouraged about the language barrier, you put it beautifully into words ❤ I'd like to add is that even tho is fine to be sad or angry Rockstar abandoned this game, I like to think its better to just accept it for what it is and be glad it happened. A group of extremely talented people poured countless hours making and detailing this world for us to enjoy, and just because some company higher ups decided it wasn't worth maintaining it doesn't mean its forgotten. Just like the real old west, it came and went super fast, but we still remember it fondly for what it was, today and for many years to come. I think it'll be the same with RDR2.
Thanks for this video ... most of the people do not understand the 'Immersive Roleplay' , they just jump & run around like Fortnite ... I used to dislike watching them killing the Immersion. I was beginning to lose Hope in others, but you've restored my Faith ... after watching this video maybe someday they will understand the meaning of Immersion & maybe they will also start to really enjoy the World like this & try not to just 'Beat the game' in 30hrs ...
I just loved your relationship with this game. This nostalgia... I also feel it every time I play RDR II. My dad used to show me all his favorites movies and he grew up in a colonized country where cinemas weren't that common. the few movies he knew about was western movies. So I also grew up watching a lot of western. I'm glad that I'm not the only one feeling this. god bless you brother.
100% my friend! I remember watching all of the classics with my father as a kid. The devs put a lot of heart and soul into the world and story of this game and it shows. Keep on making great content Cat!
I agree with all of PVP Cat's sentiments here. I don't play the story mode any more (three trips around the Van der Linde gang story) but still have a solo lobby running in online mode whenever I want to visit the world again. It's also the only game I watch streamers play, just to witness their reactions to the brilliant events this game provides for the first time.
I'm right there with you. My daily streak was active for more than five years, with the exception of two days. One I was over the Pacific, and the other was when I had a heart attack and they kept me in the hospital overnight. lol RDR2 is beyond anything that has come before it or since. It's a beautiful place.
Cat, I loved old westerns also, mostly series as a kid. Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, Wagon Train, Branded, Zorro, etc. And I loved riding horses I'd rent at a stables in San Francisco. Always a cowgirl at heart ❤🤠🫶
You hit the nail on the head when talking about how this game makes you feel like a little kid that some how got transported into a western and that’s why it’s so special
I only started playing it the past year. It’s amazing. I’m super busy so can never play it for hours on end but just getting to pop into the world 30 mins to an hour or two at a time is such a cool experience. I love just riding around and waiting for random shit to happen between missions.
You expressed your feelings perfectly! I agree with so much of what you said. I can't move on from this game either. Sometimes I hop on in either story or online mode just to ride around on my horses, hunt, and fish. It's so immersive and relaxing.
Right there with you. RD2 is one I come back to. I play it at least once a week. I find something new every time I play. I remember when I saw the Viking ruins, and the fucking naked wolfman was there. Scared the shit out of me. 😂❤
Rdr2 is the only game that i don’t care about my weapons or when to use them. Picking mushrooms, riding around and helping strangers is more entertaining then firefights and action.
My husband and I play RDRO every day - we have a lot of fun - a friend of ours joins us - we’re all over level 800 - I’m excited to reach 1000 - PS lobbies are full and I’m not quitting any time soon - gorgeous game
Totally agree with you, always loved cowboy and western films and find this game so great for just relaxing and wandering around, it’s a great shame it been abandoned as it has so much potential if only rockstar put the time into it 😢
The scene where Arthur and Dutch jump from the mountain after being confronted by the army is a direct easter egg to Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid! I didnt notice the first time while being a massive fan too but its fun when you realize it
It’s crazy after all these years seeing a RUclips video about this game makes me want to replay it, I think this game is the peak of what video games can be,
I definitely understood and agree about feeling like I'm in an old western movie when I play, Cat. Particularly "Young Guns", that's the closest plot to Red Dead Redemption II to me.
First of all, this is a respectful comment. It was the same for me, i simply couldn't leave the game, i was tired of the lack of content but couldn't leave it, until the 3rd year, the 3rd year i just couldn't take it anymore. Got tired of doing the same things all over again and again and again. Left my character at lvl 444 (kind of a demonic sing or something) and i hope they make something new to come back. But i have watched your videos from the beginning, and still do for some reason.
I think “wow” every time I play RDR2. Sometimes it’s a happy “wow” because I’m immersed in such a beautiful world. Other times It’s a sad “wow” because of how neglected online is.
Very true Cat thank you. Same for me, it’s the immersion and the world of Red Dead that keeps me coming back, also it’s personal for me too with the western movies. I have a lot of games but right now real life got me and I don’t play RDO or GTAO daily anymore. GTAO for me it “feels” like my city because it’s the same building and traffic noise. So Red Dead is chill for me (even though I’m on PC lol). Sorry for the long comment. Thank you again Cat, I appreciate you. Have fun everyone and see you in RDO.
Great video! I definitely feel the same way. This is the only game I play to just sit and watch landscapes, sunrises, sunsets, bustle of the city, etc. I’m playing the first Red Dead Redemption right now and even this game is super immersive and impressive. Excited to start a new play-through on part 2 as soon as I’m finished though. lol
Immersion, yes! I felt the same way for a good few years and thousands of hours on the xbox. Thankfully, I retired young and had the time, because I thoroughly enjoyed the winter of 18/19 and a blubbering fool when Arthur thanked his trusty Arabian as they both passed on at the end of 1.5k hours of storymode. If I hadn't misplaced the disk in my '21 move and upgraded console, I'd still logon for nostalgia, and to hang with my chocolate lab that sat beside me for countless hours before moving on herself. The game is truly wonderful, best I've ever had the pleasure of playing. I've appreciated your channel for years Cat, thank you #spaghettiwesterns
You nailed it, I agree completely. Although I don't bother with RDO, but I'm currently playing RDR2 story mode obsessively, even while I have other newer games that I haven't even launched. And you just explained exactly why this is so. Amazing, beautiful, immersive game - I've been playing video games since the 80's, and RDR2 is easily the overall most fun. Very happy Rockstar is apparently beginning work on RDR3, even though it will be another 5 or 6 years before we see it.
I feel the same, in my youth I did ride horses and went hunting but an accident left me unable to ride again. So I really feel I am back in the saddle again, playing this game after many years. I am 70 now and still enjoy riding, hunting and the great outdoors, albeit in virtual reality. 😀
Red Dead Redemption 2 online is the only game I play. I'm 64 and have chronic atrial fibrillation and arthritis (I also lift weights!). It is like no game ever made. I get on every day to be with my gaming friends. I plan on playing RDR2 ONLINE for many years to come!
brother you speak from my heart. I grew up in Hungary, watching the same western movies... when I started playing RDR2 I felt like I am living my childhood again. I am too stuck in its world and can't move on haha
RDR1 was my first multiplayer experience. Made long time friends from experience. Brought me back to RDR2. Sadly like most people they didn’t stay long on the multiplayer side. Love the Old West period in American history. Rockerstar made a beautiful story and amazing world. Sadly it wasn’t showed the same love to expand upon and build a great online experience like with RDR1. Thanks as always for your time and videos.
Totally agree. I play it less than I used to, but for me it's the whole package. It's everything from the incredible details in ALL parts of the game, to the story, to the game loop, the npc AI and more. I often find myself a victim of what we in Sweden call the "Alfons Åberg syndrome", meaning I keep thinking to myself "Oh i just want to finish this part.... oh and also need to finish this part... and this part... and.... and.... and..." It's so very easy to just play and let the hours flow. It's without a doubt the best game I've ever played.
I agree with what you have said about the game and this might sound weird but your voice/accent is just part of my Red Dead "experience", I hear your voice when youtube automatically plays one of your videos and my mind instantly jumps to the fun and experiences in the game. Strange I know...maybe because your videos were the first content I watched the game before I had it, then played a long time and still watching or listening after not playing for quite some time. I plain to play again. I forgot to mention that you used to end each video with something about "lasagna" ( I am sure something like bye or cya later in your language) lol
ok you completely caught me out there i am in fact listening to this video while grinding tarot cards in RDO, which by the way i learnt that method from this very channel which overall has helped me out so much with this game
Wow that is crazy you just explain exactly how I feel about the game keep these great episodes coming you’re the best thank you for your time and effort I mean that
I agree Cat. While I rarely play any more, I still do come back from time to time to just play a couple of missions for a day or two, before going on the next break. I'm sure that if/when they ever added new content, I would be straight back on the day of release and would play until I completed it. I have already completed all content, and I mean ALL content including all roles, all story missions on gold medal, all legendary bounties on 5* difficulty and all telegram missions on ruthless. A lot of people saying there is no new content haven't completed all of the existing content yet, they just decided they don't like telegram missions or bounties etc.
Grew up in Germany in the 70s, born in the 60s and we had 3 channels and lots of the movies were Westerns too and until today Western have a special place in my heart thats why to me RDR and even more so RDR2 are also soo very special.. its a dream come true! If I could book a Westworld Vacation i would! RDR2 is as close as it gets for me towards a Westworld experience... hopefully one day I can play RDR2 in VR! As that would be even better!
I just started replaying for like the 5th time now and it’s unbelievable how many hours I can spend in one small area just getting lost in every single detail I find or hear. It’s truly incredible.
I fell in love with RDR2 immediately when it came out, but I didn't fully appreciate it until only recently. And like you said, every time I hop back on this horse, it feels so incredible with new things to find. My top game for decades was HL2...then TLoU took that spot...and I honestly think that RDR2 is as good, if not better overall than TLoU. The amount of detail in this world, in the ecosystem, in the exteriors and interiors, is just astounding. I think there are a lot of open worlds out there, but I would venture to say RDR2's has got to be the best to date. Side note: you mention immersion as a major factor, and I agree it is. But man oh man, if anything tipped the scale of top three games to number one game, it was the ability to play this in first person on my PC. Once I went into FP, I never wanted to be out of it. I'm surprised none of your footage is FP, and you didn't mention it. Maybe I missed it. Thanks for the vid.
Yeah i totally agree, ive put a ridiculous amount of hours to this game, i just recently started playing it again and its so incredible. I played it through like 5 times at least now and am starting to exploit the game in missions and find ways to glitch encounters and its really fun. You are absolutely right that the period peice aspect of this game makes it feel like steping into a world.
I'm just going to joke with you by the way don't take this seriously but when GTA 6 comes out guarantee you're going to have to delete Red Dead 2 just because you're not going to have space to have both games on the same hard drive cuz I know read that is like almost 100 gigs GTA is going to be at least 100 and something I am just messing around keep playing Red Dead it's an awesome
Only twice? Newb Buttons! Lol I’m joking. I’ve lost count after my fourth play through lol. Also same I’ll never uninstall or delete this game. ✊🏻 I’ll need to send you my game tag so we could play 1 day, real life got me sorry about that Buttons.
The way that he expresses him self about “immersion” was the way I felt with the first metal gear. Everything from the npc’s getting alerted because he saw your snow foot prints, to knocking on the wall to get their attention, to waiting for them to either fall asleep or need to go use the restroom and lastly when you have to unplug or plug the other control for the radar to get interference. This all happened on the original PlayStation. Don’t get me wrong I love RD 2 but this video took me back to the first metal gear.
I am not even surprised that another person whom i don't even know has the same emotion as me. Now that i transitioned to cyberpunk those interactions always makes me go back even if not in game but on RUclips
I finally uninstalled few months ago after over 5500 hours in online. I still get the urge to reinstall, but i know I’ll just get disappointed all over again.
I feel the same way about this game as you. I recently went back to the story to go for 100% (97.6% currently)completion and the legend of the west trophy. I’m still coming across things I haven’t seen before.
Thank you for making this video 💖 you explained my feelings perfectly. I will have to show this to my boyfriend because he thinks I’m so weird for not moving on from this game lol. He always tries to suggest new ones or ask if there’s any new games I’m interested in, and the answer is always “no, I’m good” lol.
They will re-update this game once GTA 6 is out (I’m delusional)
@@EvilxAmeoh dear
It’s not aboneded to me
People say(o they wasn’t making enough profit?) which may b true but they didn’t even try….Red dead is a grinding game GtA is a modded account having one glitch for 50 mill type game ,GTA 5 was dying that’s why there so many fuxking armored tanks and a fuxking flying bike with damn rockets on it and the nerfed it when the game was dying but I’m 100% sure tht R* manipulates there numbers so they can say GTA is active which is complete BS
@@PexENZit is just because they recycle content dont mean its not abandoned
I completely agree. I never played for the "fetch quests" or the gold bars. I play because I am in love with this world ❤️
Mostly sure but also for allot Gold and xp
@grumpy-wolfman thanks I looked him up and subbed. If anyone else is trying to find his channel, putting Red Dead Redemption 2 behind his channel name helped alot.
@@grumpy-wolfman Thanks for sharing, I think I'll like this :) Subscribed
that is why online mode fails quite a bit. you cant get anything unless you grind the hell out of the most repetitive of tasks.
Absolutely not. Rdr2 is a great game buy it does have a lot of small flaws that add up, mostly Rockstar games outdated game design stuff.
I wish they went more into the survival elements in RDO but it is what it is at this point.
hard to move on from such an amazing game
So true
True, I can't stop playing it
If only R* fix Guarma (not the main quests, just give back the chance to freely explore within chap.5 and epilogue).
Im a retired old stoner, so......😊
I'm 60 and have been gaming since Pong on the 1st Atari. This game and Skyrim are the only games I keep going back to.
This…..
I’m glad someone else made this connection, it really reminded me of the countless hours I spent on Skyrim. Such immersion.
is it better than other open worlds? RDR1 and witcher 3 and even skyrim failed to hold onto me until the end, despite how good they felt they end becoming boring and grindy.
@@chatteyj by far. Even red dead 1 is more arcady than this one
Moving away from this game is like a curse, it's just not possible, like the game cursed us with it's world and detail.
There's this quote from Westworld that I found profoundly fitting and describing exactly my relationship with the game and what fits for a large group of GTA and RDR players:
"The guests don't return for the obvious things we do, the garish things. They come back because of the subtleties, the details. They come back because they discover something they imagine no one had ever noticed before...something they've fallen in love with."
When I first seen southern region of RDR2 map I instantly thought of Westworld and I just fell in love with the game.
Funny because Westworld studied RDR 1 to get inspired. This they admitted to back in the day@@Matt..S
Drover outfit is similar to man in black clothes in \W/estworld, i even pair it with lemat revolver
Whenever I play RDR2 i feel like I'm living in it's world.. You literally explained my opinion about RDR2 in the video so I don't have much to say😂
It's been 3500 hours over 5 years and I am still playing RDR2. I don't play online anymore, nothing left to do. But the story, I play over and over again, each time in a different way.
It's not just a game it's a peace of mind too ❤ it's very hard to move on!!
I agree Rogue!
Try battlefield 1 and 5 it’s just as detailed and satisfies my ADHD the tiniest details itches my brain
@@nickbuckley4371 nah I'm not into that kind of stuff 😅 I only play cute games usually
Very well put! It is indeed my "happy place"😊🐎
I don’t think we’ve even scratched the surface of the potential of video games they can actually help people in so many ways.
Yup. I do the same. After a long day of work I just kick back and let rdr2 take the wheel
Same 😊❤
I really like the sound of water in RD2. The sound of footsteps on the water, the streams.... I can sit for a long time and just listen 🤔
8:38 guilty as charged. There have been plenty of times when I'm playing RDO and you are also streaming. And I love playing while listening to your live-stream like a podcast. It leads to some funny moments as well...like when I was doing a bounty once, and you got attacked by a cougar on the live-stream, and I panicked thinking my bounty hunt with 6 bounties is about to get ruined, only to realize it was PVP Cat getting attacked by another cat.
underrated comment 😆
Sorry to bother you Rat skin. I think you’re not on PC if I remember correctly, see you in RDO and have fun.
@@The_X-23 Hey there! Not bothering...I'm on Xbox...Have fun too and stay safe out there
@@ratskin1782 I will and thank you kindly Rat skin 😸
And I play videogames since I was 3 years old
Bro its like a real life experience . I think we all want to live in that beautiful world
I still haven’t moved on. I play it to this day and still take my time to immerse myself even though I’ve done it like 9 other times.
You nailed it with your video ❤
had the same thing of watching western movies as kid then someday i could afford rdr2 and as a rockstargames fan i still was blown away of how much detail and realism was put into this game
the map
the story
everything was so well done
its like time traveling into such a time and even without doing missions gives me such a calming vibe
and btw if you didnt play it already you need to try kingdome come deliverance
its like gta/rdr2 but in the middle ages but really rockstar like from how its made story and openworld like
thanks for recommendation. sounds cool.
Also I get tired of the hustle and bustle of life and RDR2/RDOs slow quiet pace where you can get away is much needed
One added feature is the RDO snow.
Don't be discouraged about the language barrier, you put it beautifully into words ❤
I'd like to add is that even tho is fine to be sad or angry Rockstar abandoned this game, I like to think its better to just accept it for what it is and be glad it happened.
Still love hanging with my posse in camp and meeting new players. We have a blast just messing around.
Yep, I’m absolutely listening to your video while playing RDO enjoying the last day of snow ☺️☺️
100% my friend! I remember watching all of the classics with my father as a kid. The devs put a lot of heart and soul into the world and story of this game and it shows. Keep on making great content Cat!
I absolutely agree with you mate. Its my comfort game. It feels like my virtual home ❤
I like
Your open and honest presentation. Well done 👏🏼
Are you on PC?
Totally agree with you, always loved cowboy and western films and find this game so great for just relaxing and wandering around, it’s a great shame it been abandoned as it has so much potential if only rockstar put the time into it 😢
The scene where Arthur and Dutch jump from the mountain after being confronted by the army is a direct easter egg to Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid! I didnt notice the first time while being a massive fan too but its fun when you realize it
Played RDO off/on for over a year. JUST started the story for the first time and I am blown away.
It’s crazy after all these years seeing a RUclips video about this game makes me want to replay it, I think this game is the peak of what video games can be,
I don't keep going back to this game, I never left just keep going then start again!!!!
I definitely understood and agree about feeling like I'm in an old western movie when I play, Cat. Particularly "Young Guns", that's the closest plot to Red Dead Redemption II to me.
Sorry to bother you Randi Paige, hiii good to see you. Have fun and see you in RDO.
Other times It’s a sad “wow” because of how neglected online is.
you explained it so well, i used to watch westerns with my grandad in Poland as a kid and now as a grown man RDR2 does bring that enjoyment back 👌
Very true Cat thank you.
You don't notice these details but have thousands of them on screen at once and your subconscious will pick up on it truly immersing you in the game
It’s like you telling my story about Red Dead. Thanks Cat have a nice weekend
I completed the game twice but I still have it on the hard disk. I’m never uninstalling this game. It stays.
@@batmanrise4737 I’m on PC. I doubt this will ever be a problem for me. Plus I have time until 2027 to save up money for more storage 😂✊
Only twice? Newb Buttons! Lol I’m joking. I’ve lost count after my fourth play through lol. Also same I’ll never uninstall or delete this game. ✊🏻
I’ll need to send you my game tag so we could play 1 day, real life got me sorry about that Buttons.
@@The_X-23 np bro✊. Leave your tag or discord under one of my vids. I’ll find it. I’ll show you I’m a pro 😂✌️
Your immersion, nostalgia and journey can still continue in Red M……and I can relate to how you feel about it…..ride easy pilgrim
Probably it will
@@PVPCatWhen rdr3 comes out we will see the true Beauty of the wilderness.
