Wonder if they will offer a fine detail power tool later? Looks really good! We need a wood burning power tool yes we do!!! Silhouette business software doesn’t run smoothly with Mac Sonoma and some of your options are not showing on my screen. I have latest version downloaded. I do not do Facebook. Thank you for your many efforts, much appreciated…
Fine detail is in the works. They are investigating the issues with Sonoma.... it is not affecting all users amd its not just Silhouette that the new OS update is affecting.
Unfortunately, for the new model machines, you do have to use v4.5.735. There isn't a way around that as older software doesn't recognize the new models.
If using older model machines, v4.4.554 is what wed recommend.
As far as wood burning power tools, I envision things horribly gone wrong and many fires started by users.
Torch paste and a stencil is an option or Scorch markers with a stencil too.
Son got new machine that I can use too 🥰 we live with him. We are updated using v4.5.736 Surely while using a wood burning tool, users would have enough common sense to stay right there and have proper tools should things go wrong. And maybe silhouette folks could incorporate safety measure for automatic shut off etc. Wonderful the detail power tool in the works. As of Epson recent update, both our Epson printers have to be switched to app and use from ph.
@@darleneroach2848 I see too many issues already where laser machine owners leave their machines to cut/engrave and start their whole house on fire - google that one and you might be amazed.... so a wood burning tool in a craft cutting machine and relying on the user to be responsible.... I will probably stop teaching or troubleshooting if that happened.
@@SilhouetteSecrets I have a movement disorder so can’t use the old fashion wood burning tool was just hoping. Also I’m fearful about the chemical wood burning aspect. I fully understand where you are coming from concerning the noted dangers. Which of your classes gives the most info step by step on the updated version of the business software at the lowest cost possible. My funds are extremely tight and our son has stretched himself when he bought the curio2 he can’t add any more, thankful for what he lets me use. I watch a lot your RUclips videos a few times each trying to take in all of your information. Many are left wishing and dreaming of a way to achieve, afford etc. Don’t get me wrong, I understand you and others are in business to make money, we craft for relaxation, btw a fabulous stress reducing solution. Family n friends receive some of our adventurous crafting items as gifts.

Hello, good afternoon, I ask you, without the waste tray I don't get the drill option in the program as an action and it doesn't leave me safe without it, is this tray essential for this tool only? or do other tools need it the same?
The Curio 2 debris tray is recommended for use with any etching and engraving. I do not recommend using the Electrostatic bed for etching as you could damage the bed and that's more expensive to replace than the Curio debris tray.
I use the Curio debris tray for all kinds of projects and tape a cutting mat in it for both cutting materials and etching as well.
Do you find that it engraves better or the same as the Curio 1? Have you tried it on aluminum?
I just got the tool in yesterday, so I haven't had a chance to put it through its paces.... it is a smoother finish than the Curio 1.

What about the sound when it’s doing regular cutting? Is it still really louder than the Cameo 5?
You know, I haven't really paid attention. I don't feel like it's any louder than the Cameo 5 while cutting. It doesn't do the robot noises like the Cameo 4, but it does have different sounds because the housing setup and moving arm.
Pretty darn cool! Question: Do you have the white paper below your project just to protect your sticky mat from getting etch debris?
It's my template I cut so I can align and get placement .... but also protects it as well.

Did you update the software to v4.5.735? You may need to plug it in by usb cord for the initial setup & firmware update.

@@SilhouetteSecrets vielen Dank für deine Rückmeldung,aber die habe ich schon auf meinem Mini Mac installiert.Habe gestern den ganzen Tag versucht ihn zu verbinden,mit Kabel hat es einmal geklappt. Nun hängt seit heute Silhouette Studio,wenn ich das Kabel anschließe.🥲
@@elfen12 then you will most likely have to get it to recognize the usb connection in order to proceed. We've seen issues in general with connections to Mini Macs or some of the newer M1, M2, and soon M3 MAC models. But once you get the connection figured out, you should be good.

Wow.. glad I watched this. That is painfully sloooooow. Too slow for any real production work.
If you want to engrave or etch as a business, I'd recommend a laser machine. I used the defaults for speed in the software, but faster isn't always better.
Depending on the laser cutter, engraving can be slower, too. Much slower than a regular cut, but it would be faster than the Curio 2 and a bit different result.
