This was the first DC movie I enjoyed in a very long time. Went in with very low expectations. I’ll admit a lot of my positive vibes towards it was because he is Hispanic like me and I’m excited for my kids to see themselves on the big screen like this!
Just got back from watching it. I have no idea where the guys are coming from tbh. Maybe it’s because I come from a Latino family, but this movie has a charm that is almost nonexistent in comic book films now. It’s not perfect, but it’s so incredibly well done and accurately represents Latino/Hispanic families in a way that left me shocked. I cannot believe just how Latino this movie is. But so much of this movie works, and works extremely well.

It’s emotional, fun, funny, and inspiring, with believable characters that you can’t help but root for. It’s not perfect, but it’s a great time at the movies
I went with a white person and you’re right, he didn’t get a bunch of the Mexican references. I just think she was miscast. I hope this movie does well but it most likely won’t.
i'm looking forward to Blue Beetle as it's a DC character i know next to nothing about. i've found overall, for me, outside the first 2 Burton & Nolan Batman films, the best non-animated DC movies have been the standalones like Birds of Prey, Gunn's Suicide Squad, The Batman, Watchmen, V for Vendetta. i think they're better with those kinds of films while Marvel were better at the cinematic universe thing.
The film is for the DCEU. Gunn has been careful with his words and has stated that the Character himself is the start of the DCU not the actual film. After The Flash bombed WB started pushing this to try and avoid another box office failure. It’s clear we will not be getting more films for this unless it becomes a sleeper hit. Having seen the film the character is perfectly set up to be a Hulk style character that could appear in future films in Gunn’s universe just like Peacemaker.

It feels like a 2010 movie being released now. It's not a bad movie. I enjoyed it. But we've gotten 13 years of constant releases of superhero movies, and Blue Beetle does nothing new.
Imagine this as a more refreshing ending for the movie, the guy and the beetle are arguing what to do, stop the bad guy or just save people and they have to come to an understanding and just save a ton of people and that's the huge action scene is just saving people then at the end a quick and easy defeat for the bad guy
Tim doesn’t know about Bull Durham, but he can’t stop talking about the garbage the Bravo Network and the Bachelor shows shovel out on Kinda Funny podcast.
Not only is blue beetle competing with a Spider-Man homecoming that basically copied the killer AI suit gimmick but also his cartoon appearances. I love blue beetle in young justice his story playing in the background building up to a very subtle invasion plot. The deceptive media and alien corporations selling out the earth. It’s not fair that Spider-Man took his one gimmick but that shouldn’t prevent a more original movie.

I would be all about a DCEU funeral/wake after Aquaman 2 releases! Giving your final thoughts on the end of such a dismal franchise that limped along far past its expiry date. Also I assume this is going to be the case but When Creature Commandos and Superman Legacy launch the DCU (no E thankfully) you will start fresh with a new In Review ranking list and opening? It will be awhile before all that happens but I think it will be fitting to start a new list in honor of a new shared universe/franchise.
The family thing has been done, the villain has been done, the love interest has been done, the relationship with the suit has been done, the action isn't special, the emotional beats have been done. This movie suffers from not learning anything from the last 50 superhero movies. The only thing that makes this movie different is the Hispanic culture & as a Hispanic, I can't sit here & just accept the movie because someone looks like me or my family. I want so much more than just a superhero reskin. The soundtrack was something I thought was a good choice and I wasn't expecting so many songs I knew that also happen to fit in where they were placed but to just throw a Motley Crue song on during one of the big action set pieces after committing to Hispanic music for every scene that came before it was such a weird & disappointing choice.
The standards and expectations are so low for the DCEU, that everyone is willing to say they enjoyed it. It has the most paint by numbers plot and characters, but hey, its got Latinos and they are family and that makes them strong. I will go back to watching Coco, as I get more "hero" and "family" vibes from that then this corporate mush.
These Kinda Funny in-reviews are just not that fun anymore and haven’t been for a while. They are always mostly negative these days and feel like a formality.

The soundtrack is easily the best part of the film.
Also, show some respect to Guillermo from What We Do In The Shadows!
Really wish they would have delayed this review and included Andy. They really needed his input. The whole Latino aspect of this movie made this.
Something to remember for future reviews?
Do people understand what happened to bat girl? I thought most were scratching their heads on why. Or have I not just paid attention.
I pretty sure they scrapped it because of some sort of tax write off, so they can not make money off/show the film anymore. Sucks cause I wanted to see Brendan Fraser in it at least
"This is the enemy you know" what the hell is Nick talking about?
Gotta say i actually really enjoyed this movie! It exceeded my expectations and i found it funny and charming. I wouldn't compare it to top tier marvel movies but it's easily one of the best DC movies
FINAL DESTINATION THEN SAW
This movie played it very safe, which for a start to the DCU isn't a bad thing, but that doesn't save it from being another cookie cutter CBM.
Saw in review is going to be awesome!
Wow! They are out on Blue Beetle but the Flash was fun to them?!?
🚨🚨🚨
That's what gots me so fucking confused and I'm gonna come out and say it. I think there's a subtle racism to it.
@@RGX89 it’s not conscious but it is an unconscious form of racism. Just say it’s “not for you.”
@@jbc00l not saying Jaime right despite living in California, and the movie showing the white woman pronouncing it wrong even though he said how to say it…not bothering to learn how to pronounce Xolo, the LEAD actors name…? 🚩
I demand My Big Fat Greek Wedding In Review.
It would be really cool if you guys showed some solidarity with WGA and SAG-AFTRA and stopped doing these for a while. I guess that's too much to ask.
i saw the other day JP, Bronze & Jesse Cox have put their MCU Crew show on hold til the strike's resolved, and i guess they have more skin in the game as 2 of them are writers themselves. would be nice to see more content creators do the same for the time being.
These writers and actors are asking for more money. Making their movies fail financially is not gonna help them.
@@VooDooChild6971 C'mon dude, are you like 7 years old? Come back when you have a little more understanding of the world.
I mean, I kinda agree, but at the same time they're not part of any of that, why would they.
@@NF_Redux I wrote a reply to this a few hours ago.... not sure why my original reply disappeared... kinda sus. I agree with you though
Susan Sarandon really weighs the film down. Collected a check.
I mean I feel like they called her and she said " What the hell is that ? " and they told her the check was already in the mail
I thought this movie was so good. But you guys like the Iron Man movies more then I do. I think that’s the lowest of stakes superhero movies our of all of them. Parr of the reason why I really enjoyed Blue Beatle. I was rooting for him the whole time. Great actor, loves the family, I even thought the motivations of the villain made sense.
Can y'all review this but with Andy on it? Y'all missed a lot of references. Don't blame you, you don't come from that culture.
Duuude Soda Estereo at the end was gold 👌🏼 ✨️
Tim is lookin slim
Too scary didn't watch in Review ......... PLEASE! I think they fit your vibe perfectly
Respectfully, this is not a DCEU film. I believe James Gunn said Blue Beetle is apart of the DCU.
DCEU, but Xolo's Blue Beetle will be in the DCU.
@@K_Rob definitely makes sense after what transpired with The Flash. Seems we just need a fresh reset and they should not release Aquaman 2. I really wanna see DC succeed.
@@LoveFactorySweatShop Thanks for that clarification. Maybe I misunderstood, but seeing him and Safran at the premier it seems they are trying to be very careful about how they word things. I just wanna see DC succeed and get a win!
I went with my mom to watch this movie, she cried at points 😅. But honestly I enjoyed it, I'm sorry my take would be more positive guys lol
Tim doesn’t know about Bull Durham, but he can’t stop talking about the garbage the Bravo Network and the Bachelor shows shovel out on Kinda Funny podcast.
I don't think I will watch it unless there is nothing else to stream or while doing dishes. I wished it was better
It’s how funny how if WB simply held off on releasing this till after Gunn’s Superman, their whole tone would’ve 180’d.
I don't understand nicks 80s synthwave miami comment...has he not played hotline miami before. " I don't associate miami with 80s synthwave " lol wtf 😅😅😅
I've never played Hotline Miami...
But I've played GTA Vice City tho 🤣
@@furrybproductions 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If its an antman movie.. we won't hear these critics.. Marvel done same 20 movie with the same writing and you guys were losing your minds
As a massive MCU fan, I completely agree.
en Ant Man was lousy too
Go and listen to ant man 3 on review
Sister was SOO Annoying to me tbh
saw in review...
Yeah, this video is pretty much why I don’t come to these guys for movie reviews anymore. If it ain’t Disney or Fast and Furious, it’s trash. Right?
That's a very good point. They have no problem with the repetitive nature of the fast series and they let a lot of the cinema issues slide.
@@RGX89I wouldn’t mind so much if they applied the same standards to all the movies they review, but, it’s obvious some movies get a pass on certain problems, and others don’t.
They enjoyed the flash tho
or this movie just stinks
@@AloisWeimarI watched it. It doesn’t.
I went to law school. Some schools came to my undergrad and they gave free shirts. I wore those shirts.
Watched on a plane recently...could not be more meh on a movie...
Ive gotten to the point where i dont watch these super hero movies and just get spoiled on the whole thing watching these videos instead
Unpopular opinion Spiral : From The Book Of Saw is NOT that Bad.
These Kinda Funny in-reviews are just not that fun anymore and haven’t been for a while. They are always mostly negative these days and feel like a formality.
??? They thought The Flash was the second coming of Christ. And they loved Twisted Metal and Gran Turismo, 2 critically mediocre things.
@@LoveFactorySweatShopwhich is funny considering Blue Beetle has been getting good reviews
I think Gia might have been thinking about Black Panther Wakanda Forever because it was a very underwater movie, and equally terrible to most DCEU films.
this must be just about at the top of the list of movies that no one ever asked for
