    Awesome to see the guys gush about my work! I was responsible for prevising a lot of the action on the opening scene and the tuktuk chase. The train turret scene, Mads getting destroyed, Indy and Basil on top of the train after the fight, the downhill sequence with the car and motorcycle, and the jumps and kicking the gun parts in the tuktuk chase were all shots i made!

    Just gonna knock these out in one go:
    - The only time the Indiana Jones gradient logo is used as a title card in any of the movies is Temple of Doom. The title card of Dial of Destiny matches every other movie.
    - Harrison Ford was the one who wanted Indy to be in his underwear at the beginning, he had sustained an injury early in production and he felt his oldest and most worn out he's ever felt and wanted to showcase the same feeling in the character before he starts to feel like himself again during the adventure.
    - The underwear thing also ties into why it's important he gets his iconic outfit back: Indiana Jones is based on Saturday afternoon adventure serials where the main character is always wearing the same outfit, this is why he always wears that outfit - the underwear scene is supposed to show him as vulnerable, the hat and jacket are him putting the armor back on.
    - Indy was about 45 in 1944 - he was born in 1899, they de-aged Mads during that intro to try to make him look like he was in his late 20s/early 30s so he's between 15 and 20 years younger than Indy, which is a noticeable gap when people are in their 60s and 80s.
    - Teddy is first introduced in the movie by practicing flying with a commercial pilot telling him what to do at the black market auction, it's a jump for him to be able to actually fly it, but it was set up earlier in the film along with him being good with hot wiring vehicles like the tuk-tuk.

    • @NF_Redux
      @NF_Redux Год назад +1

      iirc Teddy was also helped in the plane by the pilot who was sleeping inside the plane until it took off, so he wasn't flying solo.

    • @MichaelROLeary

    • @joshuavelo4265
      @joshuavelo4265 Год назад +2

      Yeah, I think Ford is actually too old for how old Indiana is supposed to be might be the source of the issue. Assuming Indy is about the same age as Harrison was in Ark, it's been about 30 years since then (1936 - 1969), so Indy should be late 60s, very early 70s.

    There's a line about how Sicily was the only other place Archimedes lived or something. That's how Voller knows where they're heading, and how he has a plane prepped in Sicily for the finale.
    They want Indy because he knows more about the Dial than they do, thanks to Basil's notes. They need either him or Helena to find the other half.

    I feel like I'm crazy for liking it as much as I did? I definitely enjoyed it more than Crtystal Skull and probably an equal amount to Temple of Doom. I loved how wild the last act was and honestly found it fitting that a man whose obsessed with history's final adventure would take him into literal history. I don't think a lot of the choices made in this movie are that much crazier than surviving jumping out of a plane with a life raft, seeing a man get his heart pulled out of his chest, ghosts, or a man being alive after hundreds of years because he drank the kool-aid. (We could also add aliens, but ya know)
    Idk the movie had some misses for me, but overall I had a good time and it was about what I expected.

    I think Archimedes is who Indy becomes at the end of the movie. Think about it, he didn't solve time travel to be able to visit other points in time but to save himself and his people in this small duration of which he's alive and able because it's the only time he can have any context for, like Indy for this whole Franchise.

  • @thejediofchicago6580
    @thejediofchicago6580 Год назад +3

    Saw the film over the weekend, and thought it was just solid. I do think it would have been better if they had trimmed down the runtime by like 15 minutes (trim each of the chase scenes a touch, or get rid of the boat part) and the film would have flowed a lot better and it wouldn't have felt as bloated. But other than that, I did enjoy the film more than I thought I would. Knew it wouldn't come close to the first three films, but as long as it was around or better than Crystal Skull, that would be good, and it was. I enjoyed PWB's character, she was a mix of young Indy and Belloq, and she goes through a very similar arc as Indy does in Temple of Doom, so that was good. Anyone saying PWB was awful/annoying, just show them Willie from Temple of Doom (that's an annoying and useless character), Harrison was great as usual and so was Mads. There was one big plot hole, how did Mads' character survive the first act? but overall, I'd give Dial of Destiny a 7/10

    They keep saying "He's showing his age" "he moves soo slow" It's not just about his age. remember it's also the accumulation of the injuries he has had from the years of adventuring. His body is barely holding on. Now on top of all that Harrison Ford is 80 years old and has survived multiple plane crashes (to the point he shouldn't be allowed in planes anymore) and to Nick's "just cast someone younger" 1. fans would revolt and it would kill the franchise you can't do that until he's dead, or at least have him me have him discussing his past adventures and then its all shown through flashbacks with a younger actor. 2. That's what crystal skull was supposed to be. Indy's kid Mutt was supposed to take over.

    Enjoyed the movie. About to hit play on the review cause it's the one I've been looking forward to. But I wanna leave this here for anyone who hates the third act to think about: (SPOILERS!!!!) If he can survive falling out of a plane on nothing but a piece of inflated vinyl, have his heart almost ripped by a cult leader, survive the events of the opening of the arc, and meet a knight that is over 700 yrs old and sat alone in a cave guarding a cup, he can time travel. The third acts were never about proper realism

    • @NF_Redux
      @NF_Redux Год назад +3

      right? internet commentary on lack of realism in an Indiana Jones movie is wild. from the beginning of the series it always has a story rooted in historic times with characters reminiscent of 1920's-1930's pulp fiction, that always goes to ridiculous and mythical places in the third act. it's literally the genre.

    This movie definitely doesn't have the lows that Crystal Skull reached, but it doesn't have any real highs at all, let alone anything rivaling the highs of the other films. I'd say this film opened at a 7, ended on maybe a 7.5, and was a 5 for the entirety of the middle.
    Also, @Blessing, I also didn't get why that diver instantly drowned when his line was cut. Especially since he STARES as his line is cut and flails, and doesn't think to stop breathing and ascend. It was really weird.
