I Have no idea who Jim James is, maybe I'm the only one, but interested in checking out the music. Curious if this is the way forward for Gibson though. How can a legendary brand like Gibson only have 300k subs while independent you tubers have millions? Got to step up the social media. Vid looks awesome though
Everyone in the comments saying they never heard of him - that's because you probably all just follow *guitar players*, and Jim is primarily known as a great singer/songwriter who also plays rhythm guitar for My Morning Jacket -- he only occasionally plays lead. Not sure why he's getting a signature guitar, but I guess it's just because he's been a loyal ES-335 player. Anyway if you've never even heard the name, you maybe want to expand your music interests beyond guitar "gods".
The people who have never heard of him probably fit into one of two categories. 1. They only care about metal. 2. They are stuck in the past saying that no good music has been made since the 80s (or early 90s at the latest) just because guitar based music is dominating mainstream radio.

Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke is the best Gibson playin' guitarist on the planet but Gibson hasn't offered something from his vast collection of vintage Jr's, SG Jr.'s, and that real nice 345 he plays... Hell, he's even plays the newer Gibson models that NOBODY else has played for Gibson! They got RUclips videos all over that show him playing those guitars. If I had my shit together I'd tell you what video Charlie is playing what Gibson model but there's a lot...lol

What if we took the unique visual style of Yellow Submarine and used it as the basis for some shitty Flash animation? BRILLIANT! Get some of the guys from Gibson USA QC to do it. It's not like they're busy actually QCing.
