I've just reached Shadowbringers and I can't help to feel like Stormblood was almost like a filler arc, while the main and really important facts happen in the last patches before Shadowbringers. Also, thanks for the work on this great recap video!
Finished all the recaps. They were great. The mispronunciations weren't as bad as a lot of people in the comment section make them sound. Got a couple chuckles here or there, but the info was spot on and the series made with great love for this game. Good job!

I'm not surprised people are having a hard time following this. Please, please slow down in future series videos and read the names correctly. Calling Yotsuyu "Yosetsu" is very confusing, especially when you get to the part where "Suyu" (or as you called her, "Soyu") is travelling alongside Gosetsu. You also couldn't decide on how to pronounce Allagan, frequently calling it either the correct pronunciation, or "Algean". At 22:14, you pronounce G'raha as "Guarana". I was having a very hard time following everything due to these mistakes.
Thank you for the recap. But dear Lord that pronunciation, all of the names with proper pronunciation are included in the cutscenes. And that goes for all 3 parts.

Surely she must be the most powerful cross dimensional being. Perhaps she is the true god above Hydaelyn and Zodiark hinted at by the trailer? Everything makes sense now.

I really appreciate you trying to put this together. You hit the beats that matter but at times I feel that you are slurring words together and reading too quickly making it hard to follow- along with the already mentioned images of events not matching up. Honestly, reading slower and clearer and even repeating cutscenes or flashing the correct characters would do the trick. Thanks for making this though!!

The hardest part for me was references to characters who's names I already didn't remember because some of the names in this game are hogwash lol. Especially the Imperial names. Maybe more purposeful editing, adding pictures of things and people that are referenced. Also, thanks for summarizing the crystal tower raid! I did that raid YEARS ago and skipped all of those cutscenes as well lol!

Van is the title given to someone who is a legatus (Regula van Hydrus, Gaius van Baelsar, Nael van Darnus) Zenos's title is "yae" which signifies his status as the crown prince.

I started playing a few months back and felt like I needed to rush in order to get caught up for ShB launch, and thus I hit that escape key on every cut scene and didn't really read anything lol... Thanks to you I don't feel NEARLY as lost in the sauce anymore, like this seriously gave me a good understanding of the plot and everything that is going on, I no longer feel super confused :D
Did anyone who watched these videos skip basically everything in ARR, HW, and SB? If so, did it help you alot when you entered SHB? I feel like this will help me but I feel that I still won't be able to grasp alot.
My one issue with this is mostly your manner of speaking. You don't really enunciate well in certain parts and your words sort of slur together to become undecipherable. Like in one point it became a bit hard to fully follow, then heard 'ul'a' rather than 'Ul'dah' I knew what you meant, but still. Additionally some of the visual choices made the story hard to follow where you'd be talking about one thing but showing another.
Also he just copy and pasted the entire wiki but changed up the wording of every sentence just a little. Seriously follow along with the wiki and it's almost exactly the same. Low effort video

After playing through all of the expansions except Endwalker (yet) without skipping anything, I struggle to understand why so many people adore the story of xiv. Everything is either standard things we heard dozens of times by now (war, deception, betrayal, bla bla bla) or its contrived beyond believe. I assume its fanboyism? I have yet to find a single MMO with a good story. I understand the struggle though. Telling a well paced and original story in an MMO is extremely difficult, due to the nature of an MMO (people being on different stages of the story; the need to stretch playtime; etc.). Thats the reason why so few people play MMOs for the story. Like, compare the storytelling of xiv with lets say Horizon Zero Dawn or Cyberpunk 2077 (dont comment on the bugs, I'm talking solely about the story). The levels of immersion are just not compareable. And the fact that the graphics of xiv are 12 years old by now doesnt help with the immersion either, even when using Gshade. Dont get me wrong though, I'm having a blast playing xiv with my friends, its really fun. But definitely not because of the contrived story. To take the fight to the tyrannical Light? Does this mean Mynfillia(sp) and those Warriors of Darkness failed? That being why we must cross over now? --And if so...why do WE care? It's not our shard. We have our own issues going on over here. Why are we trying to save some other shard?

However, when using the Æ grapheme as in the archaic spelling of the word Æther, it is pronounced with a long E. Given that it is an archaic spelling, most modern fonts do not support the grapheme Æ, instead opting to spell the word with two separate letters. It therefore falls on the reader to discern whether the word is meant to be spelled with two separate characters or if it is intended with the Æ pronunciation. Given that the voice acting in the game consistently pronounces "Aether" the same as you would the more modern spelling "ether," I am inclined to support that pronunciation as correct. Im really sorry... I had to stop watching. No hate, but mispronouncing key pivotal characters made it impossible to keep up with the video. I hope you redub this because otherwise, its apparent that a lot of love went into this.
This is not a great video. The dialogue is rushed and muddled, the images on screen dont match whats being discussed, and there are a lot of assumptins being made about what the viewer knows already.
The names in this game are straight up blah. They can't name NPCs Towns or anything without it being complicated. I'm trying to follow the lore but it's meh....

However, when using the Æ grapheme as in the archaic spelling of the word Æther, it is pronounced with a long E. Given that it is an archaic spelling, most modern fonts do not support the grapheme Æ, instead opting to spell the word with two separate letters. It therefore falls on the reader to discern whether the word is meant to be spelled with two separate characters or if it is intended with the Æ pronunciation. Given that the voice acting in the game consistently pronounces "Aether" the same as you would the more modern spelling "ether," I am inclined to support that pronunciation as correct.
