Good stuff mate stoked for you, lost a 25/30 lbs snapper, fish of my life at side of ski 3 weeks ago still hurting 😭 and feeling the massive tail thumps , just have to keep battling on, thanks for vids mate love seeing you out on the ski .Tight lines
Diawa BG 8000, 80 pound braid and hundred pound leader. For a reasonably cheap reel the drag is bloody amazing. But a big slammer 3 is probably the go being on a ski for life of reel. Loving the off shore stuff Johnny and solid effort 👊
Exactly what I said too mate.. BG 8000 is the best reel under 200 bucks with a drag that's solid as any around.. honestly worth 2 to 3 times the price.. I use 80lb and 120 leader.. straighten mustard octopus hooks allthe time when snagged
Hey Champion you can make those lanyard SUPER easy. All you do is wrap whipper snipper cord around a dowel and soak it in boiling water. Have a look on RUclips and you'll see it's insanely easy and mega cheap!
i just got a big jewy the other night on a x-rap peto awesome catch mate proud of you and glad for you. also thats exactly what you wanna do with big jewys dont hold back tear their hear off unless your on light gear you need to win by getting them in as quick as possible
Cheers Jack. Really interesting to hear that mate. I’ve heard the stories of Sharks doing big damage to em on the slow so I’m glad you’ve shared your take on it.
New SUB... this channel is ridiculous as someone who loves fishing and has a small RUclips channel, this is an inspiration. I'm officially stealing the term "mozzy" .. never heard that before, here in NY we refer to them as "skeeters". Brilliant work!!!!
Another absolute ripper video John. Great to see that the PENN spin fishers are not squeaky whiny reels like the ones you had at the classic. Great vid great catch. Now I gotta wait for work to finish so I can go for a fish lol.
Hahahaa. They might get there mate. Super smooth and doing well with the salt smash they cop on the ski ;) so funny about those squeaky reels. Hahah I’ve copped plenty for them.
Yeah Johnny, Great jew, and always awesome vids to watch ...had me laughing ....harden up ya reckon :)....all the vids I've watched and not one swear word beeped out .. seriously I've said this heaps in other comments ....you definitely should have your own tv show , or would make one Hellova fishing guide ....KRACKA
Man oh man another quality upload!! Firstly never " raise your standards" . I'm exactly the same as you, no matter what jumps on the hook I'm happy. Secondly that Jew is awesome! But get a gaff!! Haha that was so so close
love watching you lean a new skill ,fishing off a jetski is awesome, landing the big ones is a struggle i use the foot wells. wount make for as good a vid though. love your work keep them coming.
Cheers Simon. Isn’t it just an awesome way to fish out there. So capable I reckon and for a rookie to learn is just super addictive. Thanks for watching mate.
I have to wonder if your videos can get any better than this one. I was willing you to land the one that got away. The video was informative, educational, engaging & entertaining. Good luck. Your growing outside ski experiences will produce the fish you are looking for. I betcha!
Thanks a lot for your support on em mate. It’s always great to hear your feedback to cause I know you’ve seen plenty of my videos so I’m stoked to know they’re hitting the mark mate. Cheers
Hooked up, well done mate. As for knots in heavy leader a 4 wrap uni knot is perfect for 80lb. I cut my sabiki rigs in half and just use 3 hooks at a time and get way less tangles, alternatively you can buy 3 hook sabiki rigs, they usually come in a pack of 2. If you are considering a beast of a spinning reel the fin nor offshore 6500 would sort those fish out no problems.
You're finally on mate, love it. I find you don't need 80/100/120lb leader out there, I run 30/40/50, go too thick and I find the fish bite less. Heavier rod and beef up the reel and you'll be good for these jewies.
Fuggn awesome bro. You had me crackin up. Did you keep it? I would have. Now you've gettin the hang of it there will be no stopping you. Can't wait to see what catches you will get next. Cheers brother. Ripper stuff.
Get the saragosa big fella! I have had the 8000 for a while now and just bought the 10000 for a bit more drag. I’ve caught some cracking fish on the 8000 still.
Got to be happy with that Jewie !!! You should leave your reel in "baitrunner mode", and not try and strike so quickly !!! Keep it up, really enjoying the Jet Ski Fishing content !!
Well done John....Stoked for ya!! Its an awesome feeling when you finally land a good fish off the ski.....Now you just have to refine your technique.....Its definitely entertaining though!!! ps...DIY your lanyard like someone said below.Whipper snipper cord ...youtube it..(Low Budget DIY Rod Leash Gear Keeper)
Snoods for hooks and uni knot for everything else. if a lure needs to swim use a solid ring. Usually a bimni to albright or if that's not practical a PR knot for the bigger braid to leader connections. FG is only ever used if I'm casting a lot and NEED a wind on.
Well done mate.. from the vid a couple months ago on the reef to now !! Big difference in your game.. Wow that was awesome.. now that's how's it's done
Would love to see how you tie your fg knot mate. I’m very confident in the way I tie mine but yours looked quite a smooth technique. Keep up the vids mate.
watching with a grin and a giggle john. mate an upgrade i think is needed. all the brands r gud. it just comes down the dollars u want to spend. NO kfc tonight. lol.
Hi Mathew. I’ve got some key spots that hold bait but also just drop the moment I see it on the sounder. A great tip my mate shared with me was to let to sinker tough bottom and not jig it about too much. Let the jigs swim in the current.
since you’re fishing from a drifting platform, you need a heavier drag setting. the penn you have will do ok, but a daiwa bg gives much better drag and performance for your style of fishing.
Ag chain knot to the lure/hook is what we use on big fish rigs man give that one a go it's strong as hell and stretchs a bit to absorb shock the only downside to it is the time it takes to tie
I’ll add it into a video on the coming weeks Nate ;) thanks for commenting mate. I’m sure it’s worth sharing that stuff with guys interested in the ski fishing
Hells yea John! Good stuff. What editing software are you running? DaVinci Resolve is giving me headaches left right and centre and looking at other options. Cheers mate
Having an understanding of the substance on the bottom wheather it’s a rocky bottom, limestone or sand can really change what you think is on the hook.
Luv it.... "You are coming with me... You are coming with ME!... No... Nuh... (snap)....". Priceless!!...
That was SENSATIONAL MATE!!!
Cheers mate. Stoked you enjoyed it
Haha can't believe the jewie slipped back into the water and you got it back. Great vid!!

Awesome stuff mate. Thanks for tuning in ;) really cool to hear you’re enjoying it across the globe. I love watching vids from where you are

You doing the flathead classic again this year John?
Love the jetski sessions plenty of red hot action 🔥🤙🎣
Bloody commentary had me pissin myself mate!!🤣😂 Top effort and well deserved catch mate!!
Hahah. It’s a lot of fun out there Steven ;)
You are coming with me buddy! Haha!
Ive caught half good size Mulloway, but never an absolute stomper. Amazing fish.
showed this to my care class... they all gave it the shaka... YEWW!!!
Fantastic to see you get onto a beast. The heartache leading to that first great fish on the ski makes it all that much sweeter. Thanks for sharing.
Crimp if your using thick mono leader. Palomar for lighter mono leader. Try a nice barrel swivel for leader to braid connection
Wow mate, what a fish!
hahaha love the offshore stuff and watching you get owned. keep it up mate
Mate that was so funny all 3 of those fights had me in stiches, great content man keep it up :-)
Yeah Johnny, Great jew, and always awesome vids to watch ...had me laughing ....harden up ya reckon :)....all the vids I've watched and not one swear word beeped out .. seriously I've said this heaps in other comments ....you definitely should have your own tv show , or would make one Hellova fishing guide ....KRACKA

Just crimp a big loop of something stronger than your lanyard onto your jacket and then attach the Velcro to that. Like a coiled old telephone wire 😂
Hooked up, well done mate.

Mate that’s brilliant advice. Thanks a lot ;)
@@mylurebox glad to share mate, I enjoy my fishing as much as you do 😁
I usually go for a blood or uni knot for the hook and the fin nor lethal's are an awesome reel for the price. Sick video
Unreal scenes Johnny. How goods the feeling of getting proper stuck into a chunk like that!!!
You're finally on mate, love it. I find you don't need 80/100/120lb leader out there, I run 30/40/50, go too thick and I find the fish bite less. Heavier rod and beef up the reel and you'll be good for these jewies.

Ha ha awesome John .... if you keep catching fish that size you're going to have to get a wider angle lens :)
Hahahaa. Mate it’s nuts chasing these big models offshore. Crazy stuff
Well done mate.. from the vid a couple months ago on the reef to now !! Big difference in your game.. Wow that was awesome.. now that's how's it's done

Well done John!!! Booyah!!! 🥳🕺🏼
Cheers mate. Stoked ;)
hey mate could you a quick video while out on your jetski on how to look for live bait and how you find them cheers

Hi Mathew. I’ve got some key spots that hold bait but also just drop the moment I see it on the sounder. A great tip my mate shared with me was to let to sinker tough bottom and not jig it about too much. Let the jigs swim in the current.
Great job johnny
that"s awesome.........beautiful jewie........tell me about your live bait rigs and setups.....would be appreciated
I’ll make sure I go through it in the coming videos mate. I’m learning heaps with the advice in these comments so I’m slowly improving it as I go
@@mylurebox to be honest..... You've been really helpful on catching mj's and barra's......
John! Absolutely epic!
I am just learning this type of fishing as well. Can you share where the reef is that you get the Yucka's from? Thanks for the vid's...Love em :)
oh you make me laugh. What an awesome Jewy, so happy for you.
here is a tip for ya john since u given us so many! use a rod called a rovex specialist sabiki, its a game changer
Thanks a lot mate. I’ll take a look at em in the coming weeks and work towards it ;)
Awesome fish John keep up the good work mate, as they practise make perfect 🐟🐟🐟
Cheers Paul. Definitely getting things going and enjoying the ride. ;)

FEEEEEED IT JOHNNY!!!! 😆
Hahaha. Funny eh. Can’t believe the bloody power of the fish out there hey. Just stupid what they do to a set up
Awesome!
Two words... skull drag. Great jewy

Hey John can you show us how you have your depth sounder/ transducer set up on your ski?
I’ll add it into a video on the coming weeks Nate ;) thanks for commenting mate. I’m sure it’s worth sharing that stuff with guys interested in the ski fishing
@@mylurebox yea very interested, I have a ski just a little unsure how it would all work. Thanks for taking the time to reply! Love your work

That was some serious pump n wind Mr John.... loved it .
FMD MATE ahahaha "COME UP" another good vid mate keep up all this rain would be pumpin the canals
I certainly know what your talking about when you say “It stings so good.” The wins don’t feel half as good without all the losses. Cheers Johnny 👍
This is madness.... her, her hera. 😂
Go lefty loop mate, those loop knots pinch. The saragosa will get the job done. Try longer stronger leader.
That ending was brilliant, love it!
Good video as usual John!
Hells yea John! Good stuff. What editing software are you running? DaVinci Resolve is giving me headaches left right and centre and looking at other options. Cheers mate
DANG Fishing I have used hit film express and it is very painful at the start but I think I have it figured out and it seems alright.
get a cracked version of adobe premiere. youtube tutorials will help you.
Great fish mate, just reward for effort.
Very good 👌🏻
Having an understanding of the substance on the bottom wheather it’s a rocky bottom, limestone or sand can really change what you think is on the hook.
Epic session , now that’s a jewfish congrats.
Cheers mate. So stoked eh. I’ve been getting some offshore fishing going over the last few months and copping full addiction for it eh
