Hi Vanessa! I leave in Japan, here they don't label the yarn size, all they recommend is the crochet hook number that goes with the yarn. I think a 3 weight yarn size will be perfect. Happy Crochet!
In Japan in some second hand furniture store. I paid 70 dollars for the mannequin. Search the big stores maybe they have some in the back and don’t use. Have a great day!
Hi Marja! Chain maybe 50 to 60 (if the stitch pattern is multiple of 2) and put the chain from your neck towards your hips in diagonal not vertical and see how long it is. But I think for a XL size you're going to make more then 128 rows( mine is M size and I made 128 rows). Once in a wile close the poncho with some markers and keep trying on you to see if you made enough rows.
