I realized not long ago that Jimmy Chamberlin is one of the best drummers in rock. He is up there with Neil Peart and Stewart Copperland. I just bought physical copies of Zeitgeist and the Zwan album because of Jimmy, and because they can’t be streamed.
Bill is extremely intellegent. Just listening to the way he talks, he expresses his message to the point. I never really gave the pumpkins a chance but am recently really turned onto them
It's nice to hear you say this Billy. It's another see it live. Seeing them on the Zeitgeist tour was unfortunately one of the worst shows I've ever been to. And that is coming from an SP fan of twenty years.
Would've been funnier if it were Corgan, Chamberlin, and Iha saying something like, "we want our band back. Please, we'll pay as much money as you want. Just give us back our band without any harm."
If Pink Floyd with Sid and especially Joy Division with Ian dying had to pick up the peices and move on, how does that corralate to the Pumpkins in any way. Especially now with Jimmy gone again. Joy Division moved on and did theyre own thing, changed the name and it's good. Billy now has no original members left and it's still SP. It should be the billy corgan project for the first time.
Gish is simply brilliant. Everything else seemed 2nd rate. At least as a band they hit what they wanted with Gish....one of the best records ever. They should be happy with that one record, if nothing else....Gish is simply life changing, and brilliant, and refreshing, and amazing, heavy, light and dark.....amazing record, simply so good.
agree, but i don't think everything else is 2nd rate. every album has it's gold nuggets. I love the machina album, and even if they went back to create a gish it wouldn't be the same, life changes with experiences, learning, studios, equipment, etc.. and we can't expect a band to not move on...just for their sanity they have to create something new and different. Peace.
Oh get of your wise-arse Billy and reunite before all the original Pumpkins are still alive.. give us at least one last good album together.. Billy,James,D'arcy.Jimmy-the only Smashing Pumpkins! All the other perversions were moreor less of a solo project of Corgan's.
Uhmm Id rather say like 75% of SP. James did after all contribute with at least a bit of songwriting and singing and DÁrcy sings a bit on a few tracks too.. However I still think its better that he found new members than try and reunite with the others just cause the fans wanted him to. I´ve been happy with everyone hes had in the lineup since 2007 except for possibly the new drummer. Im not complaining but Im glad he didnt get the guy from SOAD as the rumours was saying he was for a while.
I've loved the Pumpkins since I was a kid, but Billy likes to think he's much more smarter and deep than he actually is. When he's not conceptualizing stupidly elaborate, grandiose ideas about albums, he's retroactively crediting his past successes by endlessly rambling nonsense about nonsense. The Pumpkins aren't the Pumpkins without James or D'arcy, badmouthing one minute then wanting them back the next, and I wish he let the Pumpkins legacy be than trying so hard to relive old successes.
To be fair, I would say more like 85%. D'arcy Wretzky counts for 14.9999999% due to being a fantastic bassist, James Iha counts for the pitiful remainder.
james and darcy was like nothing to the band they was just image ... for example james and darcy didn't ever record on the first album because they was shit musicians.
I think if you realized what James Iha added to the band for leads and rhythm you would take back what you said. No disrespect to you, but you are wrong in your assumption.

Creature Of the night Just realized? Better late than never!
The zwan album made me realize how great jimmy is.
this album is solid. the way its mixed thew me off for a long time but once you get used to it its really one of the best....
real musicians. real people.
In time, perhaps many years from now, and with careful explanation, one day I MAY understand Billy Corgan's incredible message.
Bill is extremely intellegent. Just listening to the way he talks, he expresses his message to the point. I never really gave the pumpkins a chance but am recently really turned onto them
That Doomsday Clock riff makes me head bang every single time
Favorite drummer ever. 2017
Stephen Mills ....Right on!!
Hey me too! Let’s be best buds! We’ll always have Jimmy...
"I want Jimmy back..."
Bestest
sure would be fun to go back.
Finally
I like their current drummer. He's outstanding. Not unlike their last record.
It's nice to hear you say this Billy. It's another see it live. Seeing them on the Zeitgeist tour was unfortunately one of the worst shows I've ever been to. And that is coming from an SP fan of twenty years.
Chamberlin seems like a genuinely cool dude,Billy rambles on a bit in this interview
Jimmy fave that Smashing Pumpkins sounds in terms of giving it that rhythm
Cool
Wow this is a rock soap opera like Genesis but i still love thou
Would've been funnier if it were Corgan, Chamberlin, and Iha saying something like, "we want our band back. Please, we'll pay as much money as you want. Just give us back our band without any harm."
he regrets his path ..its soo obvious
what is the song they keep playing during the interveiw?

The name is "The Age of Terror"

Jimmy has kids, but we are Billy's kids :)
glass and the ghost children
Did you mean "only listen to himself" ?
Intro song?
JellyBelly from Mellon Collie...
@493john
'Doomsday Clock'
Doomsday Clock
It's a shame Billy seems no longer to be enjoying his trip. Latests gig videos and interviews I've seen he looks constantly bored.
Yea :(
why are Billy's hands in different color?
it's a port-wine stain, which is a discoloration of the skin caused by a vascular anomaly, it's something genetic
woow, thanks for explaining!
was he mean to deerhunter? those claims i read were shocking!
Beer.

Jellybelly!!!!!!!!!!
Two live legends, 95% of SP-
That's why Corgan has been so miserable lately, he's slowly losing Chamberlin.
Billy is kind of a....idk, a talker...Jimmy is A Player.
snor
Uhmm Id rather say like 75% of SP.

Who cares about songwriting? Jimmy played drums and is one of the greats of his generation. Drums are the most important instrument of any rock band.
I think Billy is the reason no one wants to get back in the band. Super-talented, but that ego doesn't help
I've loved the Pumpkins since I was a kid, but Billy likes to think he's much more smarter and deep than he actually is. God complex anyone?

Lets not forget D'Arcy on Daydream.
One of the best, if not, the, best Smashing Pumpkins song.
It is an oldie but a goodie from the album Gish
I think if you realized what James Iha added to the band for leads and rhythm you would take back what you said. No disrespect to you, but you are wrong in your assumption.
@@randyst-paul1188 u pissed or what?
True. Jimmy and Billy were the band. The others were fillers, simple rhythm backing that Billy could execute better.
