1D Printer: Portrait Threading Machine

This is a machine I made to make string-art works.
I wrote an applications that makes the plan for the portrait, its input is a picture, and the output is a list of 100 pairs of nods , each one represent one string, together they make a picture.
Until now I had to make the portraits all by hand, it took me about three hours each.
The machine makes the portrait in an hour and a half.
I am pretty proud about it.
The music is: You Was by Tessa Violet and Rusty Clanton.
Tessa is a great youtuber, very talented, I love her work.
I am sorry I had to cut the song in the middle.

Another quick note... when doing a public demonstration, I have a front-facing live webcam set up that people can interact with as it automatically produces the “string portrait version” from the frames fed from cam footage. I’ve considered the ludicrous idea of making 100+ frames and then end up with a animated string portrait :)

Love your work ;) I’ve been wanting to make exactly this though didn’t know the first place to start - extremely nicely done, saves the arduous manual process! I also like what you’ve done with the frame. I’ve been using polished and treated aluminium bike rims and hand-carved wooden frames but setting the hooks or nails to be aesthetically reasonable I’ve had trouble to find what works best - this is a great alternative. Have you also tried some square designs? Great spectacle when doing it in public, great to see others working on something similar... but this printer! You beat me to the punch and would love to discuss things further, definitely hit me up :)
