I’m visiting KL from Canada in October for the MotoGP race. It looks great and I can’t wait! Thanks for the great video!
Nice one Richard! You'll have a blast and Sepang Circuit is world class. Btw, made a note of the MotoGP in prev vid: ruclips.net/video/QWrhqh99sHQ/видео.html
I live in KL. You will need to have some kind of transport from Sepang into KL. It’s a long way.
KL is a great airport. No doubt. I've intentionally booked a long connection time, left my bag at the airport storage and grabbed the train downtown. I haven't really explored enough of KL and Malaysia in general, but I'll address that this Canadian winter!
For those of us who don't live in KL, this is a place we visit every year and from what I see the development in KL never stops. You will find big changes starting in 2023 when many big projects have started to be completed.I will look forward to TRX in 2023 and MRT putrajaya2 line. I ❤️ my country
Malaysia never ceases to amaze me! It is so much more value for money than any other place I've ever been to! 3 Ringgits to $1 CAD, and it's STILL cheaper local in currency.
Plus, the biggest reason, the people are just great.
@Dan Heather "Plus, the biggest reason, the people are just great." hear hear! STL
@Dan Heather Hey, I always found your positive comments about Malaysia everywhere.Thank you. Can I know where do you from?
I love the vibes! So much happening night at KL. Clean & city of light! Thanks for promoting my country, Malaysia. Love from KL.
Thanks. Love Malaysia and KL is fantastic! So, my pleasure :) Cheers, STL
KL looks like such a nice city. Gotta get there one day. Thanks for the video!
Tx Mikey, it really is! STL
Another location to add to my list, I appreciate all your hard work on these videos, you chose the style places I like to visit
Thanks Joe! More to come. STL
You do a good job projecting to the world, the (true) stereotype that "Canadians are friendly and polite!" 😄 🇨🇦
Thx Dan. An American friend once commented: 'Why is it that you Canucks say "I'm sorry" so much??? (ie: after accidentally bumping into someone, or miss holding a door for someone, etc etc;) My reactionary response: "Sorry bout that" lol! (just being polite, eh;) STL
So many good memories from 2009. Thanks for the vid, STL, again!
Thanks Alexander! STL
Love KL so much, always so clean….Petronius towers are awesome…..you did an excellent job getting around to show this city……
Thanks MauiHowey, MUCH more to come from KL, stay tuned! STL
3:27 originally theres 2 types of airport trains available: KLIAekspress & KLIAtransit
Ekspres is the direct non-stop service, while transit stops at all stations.
However, post-pandemic they're running combined services until further notice
Good info, thanks fr!
Now that looks like a wonderful City.... Nice and clean and lots of things to do and see.... What more would you need from a City break...... Great stuff STL.... :-))
KL really is fantastic. We'll be seeing more sights, plus at night in next vid, so thanks for coming along! STL
@@SideTripLife Enjoying the ride... :-)))
Love your video, keep doing more. So informative and like your commentary
PAVEMENTS!!! 😂 After the crazy cluttered and dangerous looking pavement in Thailand I am so glad to see wide clear proper pavements.
Wait till you see the AIRCON pedestrian walkways next vid.... ;) STL
What an amazing night life of downtown KL that I never know as a local, good job.
I might now have to plan a trip to KL. Thanks to your previous videos I'm already booked to fly into Bangkok in January and am spending 2 weeks at 4 different resorts on Koh Samui. Keep these videos coming!!!
@That Crazy Uncle Great, thanks! Love your channel name btw STL
Good to see your covered face in the very beginning of this vid , big thanks for the laid back travelling vlog..(like the KL night life research at the end as well)..
Actually I have appeared in a few (albeit briefly) but my vids are about the places I visit not about me. Next vid we'll see vibrant KL at night, thanks for watching! STL
Love your videos man. I’m down south and been spending the last few years traveling to center and South America I’m ready to step it up and head to Asia. Good work man
Cheers!
I was in Bangkok last week it’s great experience but language is big problem 80% people don’t understand english but now I am planning to go kL
Love your vids. Very educational and laid back commentary, spot on. Whats next?
Love your musical selections brother. also video very helpful and succinct. Well done.
It's always a pleasure to fly AirAsia. Good service, lovely attendants and good prices !
Couldn't agree more! STL
Glad to see that you're enjoying KL 👌🏼
Thank you. To be honest, had not visited KL in over 10 years since my prev Thailand visa run days. Usually flew to KL or Penang, went to the consulate and flew back next day (Edit to add: back then one had to race back to get work permit stamped at prov amphur office, Prachuap Khiri Khan in my case). Anyways, what a shame, wish I had stayed and enjoyed. Now I'm both impressed and thoroughly enjoying KL! STL
KL look amazing and I love that.
Great video as always and great narrating I always enjoy your videos and I probably will check them all out someday the places you've been
English language is 2nd language for Malaysia 🇲🇾.
Tourists felt comfortable and no communication breakdown.
90% Malaysian able to communicate in English.
Welcome to Malaysia 🇲🇾
Have a nice day all the time.
Hey buddy, I really enjoyed this vid - will be watching the series for sure 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎 apartments looks great & certain you are in the thick of it all 👍🏻
Hi Simo. Note you 'made it home' well done (great vid too btw:) Glad you also made it to my KL series, thanks for coming along. Cheers! STL
@@SideTripLife thank you 👍🏻 Looking forward to what you got coming up 😎
Great info as always. You have a way of making me want to visit everywhere you go (except pattaya lol, although you made it look good). Keep up the positive vibes x
Lol cheers Mia :) STL
Excellent, place looks very clean, locals seem friendly towards foreigners, and I don't see any sleaze , thanks for sharing and regards from England 🍺🍺👍
KL offers a different social vibe than BKK and it seems less congested than BKK.
Agreed Dr Wan. Love both vibes and will be showing a vibrant KL vibe next vid. STL
Very good video and music👍🎶🎊 says Peter in Sweden🇸🇪
Yes, I've been to KL, Penang - and Kota Kinabalu on Borneo.
Tack Peter in Sweden :) STL ps: I'm jealous! would LOVE to see Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Sarawak... (and will;)
Thanks buddy for spending times in KL, KL is lively metropolitan..if you want to taste of others Malaysian life, you can go to Langkawi, Penang, JB, Terengganu and the best Sabah
A side trip of a side trip. Sort of like taking a break from taking a break.
or a nap from a sleep (I'll get my coat...)
wow only rm46 for ultra budget hotel, planning to go end of year, thanks for the info
Your videos totally help many tourist to come here...great content...i love malaysia
Happy to hear that! Love KL too!
STL still Movin & a Groovin I see (-: Is the very "friendly" Beach Bar still there? Looks Iike you were staying in the very same area. I did three visa runs to KL and always stayed at some 5/10 hotel straight across the road from the Beach bar & didn't really do much night time exploring beyond that as it was such a great bar socially wise. There wasn't much else happening back in 2015 that I was aware of when I did my last visa run to KL. Looks like it's taken an upturn since then. Cheers.
KL is deffo movin n groovin as we'll see in next vid. STL
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. I like d content of your vlog, very much.
@Yasin Affandi Thanks for watching and commenting! STL
@@SideTripLife 😁
Little blast of 'diddly aye' ( trad ) music I see on your cutaway showing the cans of Guinness. Being from Kilkenny in Ireland it's always a little odd to see beer called 'Kilkenny'. Very interesting video. A nice departure. Thumbs up STL👍
Aye R B! In Canada we have a beer called 'Moosehead'. It came to be after the Oland family emigrated from the UK to Nova Scotia (now based in New Brunswick and still family owned). Anyways, bet 'Oland' has Irish roots... Erin go bragh. Cheers! STL
Right on !
Happy travels.
Cheers Eric! STL
Another great vid. Thanks. Wish I saw this before I took a fast visa run to KL from Thailand during my summer stay there before Covid hit.
Thanks! Same for me actually. Back in the day I did quick turnaround visa runs to KL and Penang as had to race back to get my work permit stamped. Glad I have time to finally explore KL more, great city! STL
We are staying at the mo in April, was planning on taking my girls ages 15, 13 to Healy macs, dark horse or gravy baby so they will eat something! Do you think kids will be allowed? Loved the vid! X
TY Emma. Deffo kids will like Gravy Baby (great food) and be welcomed there. Not sure if the other actual pubs allow minors in but give it go perhaps? Enjoy! STL
Thanks, STL for your interesting and informative videos. Like them all very much. I´ll visit Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia in January and February 2024. I am very curious to see Hua Hin (by train, as you did) and KL by flight. Greetings from Germany
Most of all, I love the music in your videos. Great
great video, no selfie at all. I love it so much. Music and voice with the same volume.
Hiya STL, Enjoyable video as always. Informative. Your food looked so good. Screw Macdonalds, haha, for sure. Happy Friday and Weekend. Till the next time.
Yaaay! Thanks for dropping by Nicky! Let's just say Micky D's is about as far as one can get from Nicky D's lol (viewers, click on Nicky's channel name to see;) Bon appetite! STL

Love that you can view out the front ala Vancouver too (btw, my hometown eh;) STL
Awesome vid
Cheers Jeff! STL
We sure didn’t find those prices at Comar suites for Oct 21- 27. Agoda price was 347 MYR/night Exec w/king bed. Any other recommendations for KL? preferably where you have stayed - doesn’t have to be in KLCC as we have we stayed there before.
Hi guys, just got your followup email and responded. There's several agencies for Cormar on Agoda and mine was 'Vale Pine' (best priced of the various Cormar agencies). But yep, the price looks up in late Oct (not sure if high season shoulder or what?) Anyways, I see 241 MYR ($53 USD) for your dates. I also sent a couple alt choices around $25 USD Ceylonz Suites and 'D'Majestic Suites.
Can search here: www.agoda.com/search?city=14524&cid=1898974
Hope that helps somewhat and have a great trip!
STL
KL looks nice! Pretty affordable too - will you be getting to any beaches on this trip?
Thanks David. KL really is a great city! Beaches? Yes! I plan on going to Bali and beyond + Sumatra upcoming but may no longer be filming if this current series continues to tank... Just not worth my time spending countless hours filming/editing etc if few of my audience are interested in non-Thailand content (and as much as I love Thai beaches, I don't want to be forever stuck as the 'Thailand beach guy'...): STL
@@SideTripLife fair enough, mate. Shame it's not getting the numbers like your Thai vids, I guess people get stuck in a rut. Would love to see your POV on Indo though. Whatever you do, keep having a blast!
@@SideTripLife I don’t think it’s tanked at all. Malaysia just isn’t as popular as Thailand, I prefer it though.
@@SideTripLife malaysia also have nice beaches man.
@aroni For SURE! Will also be going to Perhentian Islands + more upcoming!
Thunder Bay ON builds those cars, ok video, wanted to see more authentic Malasian food, okkk, will watch Weins 😋
Hey Bart. Will be hitting the local street eats upcoming, cheers. STL
tht places newr healy's used to be world famous Beach Club...ha..ha...
This seems great😀👍
Back at it. You're the man. (Jealous AF)
B Club / Thai club...closed ...those were the days !
I have watched and loved many of your vids, including the very long ones , but one thing jars a bit: this on starts at 3 mins , after a recap, a preview and an overlap from the last vid.....
Air Asia still owes me a refund from 2020 when they shutdown due to covid. Radio silence apparently! I haven’t forgotten!
Love your videos as always. You guys still have masks over there?
Thx Oz. Masks are no longer 'mandatory' in most places but many still wear them in close proximity (and on MRT) so I do same. No biggee for me at least. Cheers, STL
Try an unheated bum gun in the middle of the Canadian winter......
lol warm water a MUST!
Looking fwd to re-visiting KL in Jan! It’s been 20 yrs. Do you think would be worth it to take express train/MRT from airport..even for 5 ppl? Rather pricey but maybe worth it bc faster than driving + possibly similar price?
Wow
could you fit 2 big bags of luggage each on the train easily/
Great video bro...but need to correct the fact that islam is 63% of population while buddhism is 19%
Thanks! In my clip I was noting JUST the KL City stats (from the site indicated, pls see below). For all of Malaysia, Islam is indeed 63%(+) and if I may add from personal interaction, some of the warmest, most welcoming people anywhere! Cheers, STL
References/Quotes:
KL/ WorldPopulationReview - Kuala Lumpur has many religions. Islam accounts for 46.4% of the population, followed by Buddhism (35.7%), Hinduism (8.5%), Christianity (5.8%), Daoism (1.1%) and other religions (2%).
Malaysia/ Wiki - As of the 2020 Population and Housing Census, 63.5 percent of the population practices Islam; 18.7 percent Buddhism; 9.1 percent Christianity; 6.1 percent Hinduism; and 2.7 percent other religion or gave no information
@@SideTripLife well,my sincere apologies for the misunderstanding and hope you enjoy your stay here in Malaysia
@Ammar Zafri Perfect example of polite, welcoming ppl in Malaysia right there. No worries, I should've been clearer in the vid really. Anyways, absolutely LOVE KL & Malaysia, more to come! STL
@@SideTripLife Hahah I was confused a bit by the stats but figured you probably mean in KL xD
Thank you
Love it
Cormar Suites is actually $115 AUD per night for July 2023 not $48. Fake news!!!
That particular room I stayed at 'Cormar Suite Vale Pine 163' was indeed $33 almost a year ago when this was filmed, can see the screen shot of the booking page at 9:07
Unfortunately that suite at Cormar appears booked solid, see:
www.agoda.com/vale-pine-163-cormar-residences-klcc/hotel/kuala-lumpur-my.html?
However, there's another Cormar Suite available June 3-4 for $46 see: bit.ly/3zIDjHZ
Cheers,
STL (the non-fake news guy;)
I subscribed and appreciate your videos -- thx. Question: If I intended to live as a tourist in KL and one other country for 90 days each, returning to KL on day 181 (or so), do you think there would be any visa problems if I did this year after year as a US citizen? 180 days in each country every year, basically living in KL for half the year every year as a tourist? Is it only the quick weekend trip to say Singapore and then trying to get another 90 days tourist visa in KL which the authorities frown upon? If I stick to no more than 180 days a year as a tourist, do you think there would be any hassle when my passport indicates what I am doing? Thanks.
I live in Bangkok (love KL too:) so not sure about Malaysian rules. However general rule is after 180 days if you're just doing a quick border run to come back, you're likely going to get screened by imm. But generally if one stays under 180 days per year ok. Best enquire at your local MY embassy or consulate.
6:46 - UFO just pass by.
❤❤❤❤❤
Is the mysejahtera app still required for entry to Malaysia?
Yep, was asked to show it at airline checkin counter. STL
👍👍👍❤
Ok , dumb question that Im sure has been asked - is that a mynah bird and whats he saying ??
Yes, saying 'Sawadee Khrup' (Thai= Hello) I'm based in Bangkok but love KL
Wow
