It's an fun gun to shoot. It was my first long range gun. I have since bought a 6.5 Creedmoor and 338 Lapua Magnum. I really don't shoot my 300 win mag anymore because the 6.5 is less recoil with similar ballistics on steel targets and the 338 is just a more capable round in general.
I like my weatherby vanguard in .300 win mag quite a bit, make sure your scope is good quality as well as the scope rings and make sure the mount job is good because if not you'll end up with a canted scope from the recoil lol. I like 180 grain projectiles the best in it but that's me, if you decide to get into it see what works best for your barrel
This is fantastic, I just got myself a Bergara b-14 ridge in 300WM, this is all great stuff! So much useful information for my own journey down the rabbit hole of reloading 300wm. I'm reloading 180gn nosler Accubonds with 79 gr of ADI 2217, which is the ADI equivalent of H1000, after much of your advice and tips, I've successfully not blown my face off. I love your channel! keep the 300WM videos coming!
Thanks for making this one! I'm in the same boat about not needing a 300 Win Mag but, I won one so here I am. I really enjoyed all your videos so far and I'm sure this one will serve me well.
I do not shoot 300 win mag but it is a JRB video so I watched it all. There is something to learn no matter what. As always some good shooting also. PS: I would watch a JRB video on how to make a soup sandwich
I just bought my 300 win mag yesterday then came home and hopped on your channel. I was very dissapointed you hadn't covered it then low and behold this morning this popped up. Love your channel.
Love the looong videos! TY!!! 👍👍👍 I load 7mm RM & learned about the area above the belt. Great die & a mandatory next purchase for me. I don’t want to make this a long comment, so I’ll “collet” good here.
I've heard a lot of people saying a lot of different things as far as belted magnums and the bulge around the belt. I'd love to see a long term review of two different lots of brass one using the Larry Willis collet die and the other using standard full length sizing dies and see what the results are. Thanks for all the awesome videos and the info you provide.
I've avoided the bushing dies up to this point. Getting bushing die info along with 300 win mag reloading info is a real bonus! Thanks! Excellent as always!
I love my 300 win mag! I don't have any real use for it either. I live in Illinois. But I love hand loading for it and doing some "long range shooting" at my farm. Usually around 300-600 yards. I've got a Savage 110 BA and it shoots amazing! Love it
I'm almost in the same boat. All ranges around here are 100 yards unless I drive 40 minutes to my buddy's parents house. There we can shoot 900ish yards. I dont hunt (cant with a 308 anyways). But damn....it is fun when I can get out there. 300 win mag...eventually. Just for the hell of it.
@Mrvenividivici2012 The savage has been doing awesome. Had it out to 1000 yards doing a milk jug challenge and knocked out 2 milk jugs in 4 shots! No sight in and the first time pushing it past 700 yards. The gun is a beast and I have found a handload that it loves.
I don’t even own a 300WM, but really enjoyed this video. When I saw an hour long video drop last night I got crazy excited lol Might go buy a 300WM barrel for my DTA now :)
I've been shooting the 300 win mag 30+ years, been reloading it for 20+ years. Shot most everything from gophers to grizzlies. From 15 yards to an elk at 890 yards. It just works. My reload recipe is what really works in my riflr. Winchester modle 70 classic s/s with a boss.(first one in Canada ) 24 inch barrel, +boss 73 grains 7828 powder Win./ fed brass Win. Mag primer 200 grain seirra game king Average 2960 fps ( 10 shot average ) Full lenth resized and trimmed every time. Some cases reloaded more than 6/7 times. Hunting in the East Kootanys Canada.from the bottom lands to top of the Rockies. It works.
Great video with lots of detail!! I use a lee collet neck die which takes out all the guess work out of neck tension and sets it at a perfect 0.002" tension no matter what. I just bump the shoulder a little with a full length die first. I have never had to bother with the special belted magnum die, but mainly think that is because after a half dozen firings the primer pocket goes before i have that issue. I do believe that just moving the shoulder back a little and cheating by "head-spacing off the shoulder" also reduces the issue. Someone chime in and correct me if i'm wrong. But i've maybe had 3 cases that failed to chamber after loading and shooting about 1000 rounds of 300 win mag in two different rifles. Again for me after 5-6 firings on Remington brass it gets tossed because the primer pockets are loose. I don't push the limits but i do load a 300 win to the potential it was designed for. Cheers!
Great vid! really looking fwd for 300WM updates. I just started reloading 300WM myself and like you this is my 1st belted round. I am making a USMC M-40A5 clone with the Rem-700 long act in 300WM. So it will look like the M-40A5 but chambered like the Army M-24. I got to play with a M-40A5 thanks to a buddy in weapons Co. when we were at Quantico.
I just started to run bergers in my 300 Win. I might be a little barbaric, but I run a long bullet then back it off till the bolt just closes. then I take a mesurment. then back it off .015 to .020" off the lands. Then, reduce the powder 3gr and work back up. ( first time I had a sticky bolt when I forgot to reduce the load,) I run a berger 210 vld match. But it took a little work. Congratz on your hand loads, I think your on the right track. For benchresting, remove the front slingswivel, it will throw a bullet when the recoil hits it. Again, great groups !
I have never found the need for commenting on a you tube video, but you are absolutely amazing. This is one of the best, most intelligent, interesting and educating videos I have ever seen. Thanks a lot for the time and effort you have put inn to making this video. Best regards from Norway.
You and I seem to be living mirror lives haha. I too have a TC compass in 300WM because I had a compass in 308 that had a 1:8.5 twist and TC let me swap them out. I’m having pretty good results with the 208 ELD-m seated around .015” off with velocity around 2850 using RL22 powder currently. Also, I’ve been told by others who shoot lots of WinMag that you need to anneal after every shot or you will be splitting necks in 2 or 3 firings. Looking forward to seeing more from you and this rifle! I too have the Willis collet die and it’s pretty amazing. You can even size down loaded rounds.
Fantastic video on .300 Win Mag reloading. You covered ever detail really well and provided more information than some others if they did a 10 hour video! Great work! I took the liberty of taking a "screen shot" of some of your information. Glad you did not "blow your face off" in this process but that was really funny! Great work! Thanks much!!
I just plunked down some serious money on a custom 300 win mag for long range hunting and shooting. I am very thankful you produced this for public consumption. I'm also thankful that I went the custom route, since you have demonstrated in this video how to put lipstick on a pig (no offense but that TC chambering is pretty awful). Maybe look into replacing the bottom metal to accept an extended magazine? The groups were clearly better when closer to jam. With the state of the Union hanging, we are all being pushed (not so gently) into reloading, and I have saved this video for future reference. I'll just hope the components become more readily available soon. Great video, thanks.
I am speechless after watching this entire video. This video is 100% quality, pretty sure I'm ADD and I was able to watch every second of this, so congratulations on that LOL. Whatever you do for a living, stop it because this is your calling. If this was on American Idol, you would get the golden buzzer no doubt. I recently purchased a Tikka T3X Super-lite 300 Win Mag and I just love shooting it at the range but purchased it for Elk and Moose hunting and with Hornady Precision 200 grain ELDX ammo I am able to produce sub 1 inch moa @ 100 yards. I am wanting to reload for myself and that is why I ended up here. Thank you much for taking the time and sharing this with us all, I completely enjoyed it.
That "distance to lands" tecnique in order to set a good OAL to start from it's a very good one. Thanks for that and the other things i'm sure i didn't retain 😂
I watched your video. Assuming the rifle isn't c***, I'd be double checking everything is tight, and that the scope is trustworthy. I'd also, believe it or not, avoid ultra high magnification. The procedure you took was very thorough. Possibly, a good cleaning may be all you need, plus bear in mind you had a relatively light barrel, so I'd advise a minimum of 5 minutes rest between groups.
@@iainkillion262 Yes it is. For deer hunting I use 180 grain Federal and it loves them. The 180 or 190 grain pills work great in that gun and caliber. If you are shooting it this time of year you might want to use a rubber slip on limb saver. During hunting with a coat, etc on its not a big deal.
I can’t believe that not only have a watched this long video once, I have now watched it many times. An outstanding video and my favorite video on RUclips!
25 yrs of reloading 300s for my winchester, Ive never run into an issue of expansion at the belt. I also only neck size, now that Ive said that.............. great video, thx
I've used your videos as a reference for a while now. Just picked up and RPR in 300 WM and your page was the first place I looked for reloading info. Thank you for this video.
You are quite good. I am a professor and Mechanical Engineer and have been learning gunsmithing and reloading from a very famous Hall-of-Fame shooter and gunsmith. He is vey good on the details but sometimes we can get in too deep and lose sight of the big picture. You do not have that problem. We are, in fact, reloading 300 Win Mag (as well as 6-Dasher and 308 for F/TR) and have run into many of the issues you are discussing. Please keep up the good work. For those of you new to reloading (or new to belted magnums), this is an excellent video and he goes over almost everything you really need to think about.
I had to watch this video all over again. Great video! Lots of thought, incite, and detail to what you need to pay attention to when reloading 300 win mag. I’ll probably watch it again and learn something new from it each time 😃👍🏻 thanks for sharing!
Just found this playlist after buying my own 300 win mag. I live in KY too but I'm hoping to use it out west. Figured i might as well use it for deer hunting here too so i can be used to it. Thanks for this series!
One of the best comments I’ve ever heard, ‘This is just way to much gun for the hunting and shooting I do’. This is how things should actually be. Just have the gun size and capacity you need for what you hunt. There is a place for a 300 win mag but in North America usually you can do the same hunt with a 30-06 or even a 308.
JOHNNY I love your channel . I am 65 years old and learn many things from your trial and error. Hope you work up accurate hunting loads for the 300 Win Mag as well.
Loved it! Perfect example of matching the angle of the throat to the angle of the bullet ogive. Having those perfectly parallel makes for the best accuracy. That and jump seem to make magic. Spinning the completed round with a drill and polishing with four "O" steel wool will eliminate any burrs and remove any gunk from the surface of the projectile.
Sometime video clips get shared. nephew pass this on to me. Call me up telling me how helpful this was. All most step by step not sure how many times he had to replay this. After hour by phone talking. Ask how did he like the 300 Great if he had one.. Hour past he don't even own one.. what's up.... Only clue is he will know when he gets one. Hats off to these guy . James enjoyed it so much He is ready with past on knowledge. That alone have to say my self Thanks guys.
I will forever remember that live stream and being a part of it as that all rolled in. So excited to see this work out, since I'm going to be setting up to shoot my Rem700 .300WM in Eastern WA where shots can get WAY out there... met a lady that dropped a whitetail at 642 yards, lasered, last year with her 7mmRemMag and Leupold BDC-elevation turret. Can't wait to see the finale of the Mark 248 Mod 1 series like you did with the Mark 262 Mod 1 series (which was FANTASTIC!).
I'll save you the trouble.... 70.0gr of IMR4350 in hornady brass with Fed 210 primers pushing a 175 SMK at 3130 out of a 26" barrel. Best I've found. Side note. From everything I have read and found the 300wm gets better accuracy without magnum primers
Johnny thanks for the video. The 300 Win Mag is my go to rifle. I shoot a Ruger 77 I have had the rifle for thirty years. The load it shoots really good is Nosler 180gr Accubond IMR 4831 73.5. It will shoot about half to three quarter size groups. Best of luck with yours.
I was happy to see you with the 300win mag. I owned 1 commercial rifle that nearly killed me from product/manufacturing defects ( 6 pin locking bolt system 3 pins failed all at the same time.) in spite of that I had a custom built 28 inch bull barrel off a vz 24 mouser action with a chrome molly barrel with a kanjar trigger with a convex conture at the end of the barrel and the lands and groves in to the throat an extra 30,000. at 1800.$$ cost to me and the first rifle I ever had made to my specs it has turned out to be the best shooting rifle I have yet to have aside from 2 ( one my dad made, and one my grandfather made. The 300 win mag likes heavy bullets and near or exceeding sammi standards. the 300 win mag has the same pressures ( nearily) as the 30.06 with just a longer C.o.l. to get the best from your 300 win mag you need to be at or near 93% pressure. the longer the barrel the heaver the bullet. to get the best accuracy from/ out of a powder bullet combo you need to take the time and effort to pick a powder, a bullet weight and type load 15 or the lowest charge sight in the scope with (3) of the lowest charge using 1 to foul the barrel and a follow up to heat the barrel and step up each charge in 1 to 2 grain incriments untill you find the most accurate group. ( in your videos) you usualy throw the first and last shot so only look for the 3 shot group and you will find your best accuracy. hope this helps as much as your vid help me.
Thank you for the video, and introducing me to a lot of new dies I have not yet used. After loading for a 300 Win Mag for many years I have three comment: (1) My consistency goes up when NOT using magnum primers, (2) Crimping increases consistency, (3) Overall length, as you showed, is very important to a Wim Mag.
Is. Full length resizing needed if its fire formed to my chamber? I was only going to NECK size. One more thing I never seen the fired brass trimmed. Did I miss something?
Many moons ago I bought a 300WM when I didn't know any better, to each his own but I'm a handloader and between the problems I had with loading and a Winchester M70 that shot 3 moa at best (from what I understand the manufactures now headspace off the shoulder), that rifle wasn't in my safe for any great amount of time replaced by a 300RUM Browning which has been nothing but a tackdriving sweetheart for the last 20 years. Over the years I've learned a few tricks to make a 300WM shoot working with friends rifles but IMHO all the belted magnums are not for me. That being said, this video is great and explains some of the intricacies to loading for belted magnums and is a great resource.
I load alot of belted mags and never have I had this issue, and I always look as to the max, I’m on my fifth firing on my 7mm rem mag and still going strong
This video was awesome. I'm just getting into 300 Win and you literally covered every facet. I never used bushing dies and I think you made it very easy to understand. Job well done
My first entry into reloading was with the 300 win mag in a winchester model 70. After watching your video I went back and measured my 50 rounds of brass just above the belt. They all have 8 firings through them at relatively high pressures and they all measured between .509 and, .511. The brass still looks decent after 8 firings. It may just be my rifle, but before investing 100$ in a die that just resizes above the belt maybe wait and check the brass after a few firings. You may be lucky like me.
Was a donation so he is not out anything. He already had one case a bit big so not a bad deal to fix it. I got one a while back and so far mine all pass the check stage. I would use it as necessary not to batch resize just because...
Discovered your channel via Alabama Reloader. I find your content very educational and look forward to viewing some of your previous videos. I'm reloading 6.5 Creedmoor and .280 Remington on a Redding press.
Awesome to finally see a win mag video, I have been testing loading 300 win mag as well, so far varget and rl-17 behind a hornady 150gr fmj are showing promise with no pressure signs. I am using a Winchester XBR.
I pal of mine (former Military!) Has let me shoot his .300 Win. It surprised me because it felt so similar to my .30-06 ! He said these are tailored hand loads! The 150 gr. Hornady bullets at 2900 fps. MV. This fellow likes to do the "soft" loads for our local "Medium Game". Deer, Pronghorn and little Blackies. But then, goes up for power and accuracy for Elk. And on occasion Moose in Alaska. That seems like a very versatile way to use your big, belted magnum!
Firstly, long time fan of your channel from Australia. I usually stick to the videos that relate to calibers (.223/5.56, .357, 22-250 and 7mm.08) I own, but thought I'd watch this one anyway. So envious of the pricing and range available to you in the US. In Australia for example, 100 Hornady brass for 300 Win mag at today's pricing is $210! On average you can multiply by a factor of about 3. Thanks for the great content.
Here's some advice from years of experience with a 300WM : Though your procedures are very good, you need to work on recoil control, as in you should control the forend, or even gently rest your hand on the scope. The theory that you get the same recoil pulse each time, doesn't hold water with a relatively light rifle, and shout recoil. As for the magneto speed being attached to the suppressor when accuracy testing, I'd be dubious of that too. DON'T EVER LET THE SLING STUD TOUCH THE REST WHEN FIRING! The above is meant in a constructive manner.
YES! 300wm! I just spun a 300wm barrel on a savage action the other day and have been freaking out about reloading for it. Too many horror stories about the belted cartridges on the stinkin internet. I'll be watching closely... keep it up!
Probably the best video on the Internet for accurate reloading with bushing dies. Everyone should watch Panhandle Precision with Sam Millard. Very thorough explanation on Redding Type S bushing die.
Very helpful. I shoot the tc compass in 300wm.. I’m personally going to try out the 220smk.. I love this rifle, it’s killed a few animals now, but like most, terrible grouping. I’m new to reloading so this video is something that’ll be super super helpful for making my gun shoot well. And you basically just showed me what this gun needs. So thank you for that. I know my starting point
Being as the TC is intended to be a hunting rifle, I would love to see you do some testing with bullets designed for that purpose to see what kind of accuracy you can get with em. Game Kings, Partitions, Accubonds, Tsx and TTsx, Trophy Bonded Tip, etc. Thanks for the awesome videos!
This video is way too busy. If you want a good hunting bullet for the .300 Win Mag Sierra Game King 165 grain boat tails. I am shooting 5 shot groups at 300 yards at 3" and less. I have hand weighed Remington brass and prepped cases by neck sizing and use Redding Competition seating dies. You will have to play with the load data with your rifle, but the 165 grain bullet I use will do the job and shoot the flattest. The hole coming out of the other side of your game will be huge though. I don't hunt with it much anymore, but if I want to shoot long out to 300 yards it's the The 25/06 Rem . with 100 grain bullets is also a good 300 yard p0int blank zero gun but the shots need to be better placed.
I've been shooting Federal brass in my 300WM... Several reloads so far. I use my FLS die and bump the shoulder back .002 and go. No issues with belt bulge yet.
Was your brass from factory loaded ammo, or raw brass? Im using some once fired from some Non Typical factory loads. Seems to bedoin great after a couple loadings so far.
Thank you for the info Johnny. This video gave me a lot of educational info. Really interesting. It proves how much factory ammo is not going to cut it if you want really close groups. The further out you the worse the groups can get. It looks like the Sierra Match King stuff really holds well. I know Hornady stuff works well too. However some guns plainly don’t care for some ammo. Keep up the videos please. Really instructional.
really good stuff Johnny - T/C should send you a big fat check after this video - they have a 1 MOA guarantee on these guns using factory ammo - good luck with that - they are obviously going to have a lot of complaints - how they ended up using a throat length this long is just baffling - it seems way out of spec for this cartridge/mag combo. I gave my son a dimension in 7mm-08 and extra barrel for it in 243 win for Christmas - in the next few days we will be checking out all the same specs you did for your 300 win mag which is an option in the dimension with a barrel and bolt swap. Makes me think twice about going in that direction with it for sure. Hopefully the throat on the 7mm-08 and 243 win are more i line with your 6.5 Cr chambering. I can think of no explanation for T/C to cut a throat this deep - really what were they thinking. The obvious answer seems that something is amiss in the manufacturing and somebody is cutting them too deep or is using a bad reamer as in the case of many 22 Valkyrie - essentially they have made most of the 308 bullet lineup unusable in terms of getting good accuracy - think how much money T/C could save by getting this issue resolved - yup a big check for johnny should already be in the mail for doing their job for them in this video - at least those that reload now know that good accuracy is possible in spite of the throat issue - that at least takes a bit of pressure off - I would be a little miffed myself if I discovered what they sent had such an insane throat length. we will see how it turns out on the dimension. Obviously other rifles do use long throats in 300 win mag but then it seems they also have a mag that can load out longer ammo as well - this throat mag combo shoots itself in the foot.
The long throat issue on this gun is something I see in most all of my Remington model 700's. I also have a .338 and 7mm Rum with really deep throats. I find Sierra Game King and Nosler Custom Comps very jump tolerant. I keep 70% or more of the bullet diameter measurement in contact with the case neck. After that it's finding the right powder and charge and tweeking the depth. Love the videos and honest presentations. Keep up the great work.
You definitely have to get over loading for mag length on longer bullets. Single feed and shoot for accuracy that is what you're there for. I have been single feeding for accuracy and also hunting for years. Magnum calibers tend to push bullets back into the cases when they're in the magazine anyway. They also Dent tips of bullets. Plus the fact that animals and paper do not shoot back the reason to have so many bullets in your gun unless you're a terrible shot. Hope this suggestion helps. It also makes a hunter a better shot making the first one count as it has in many young Hunters that I have mentored. Again do it for accuracy not 4 mag length waste of time nowadays with all these long-range slick tip bullets
Agreed. I reload for 7mm RM and find I have always had to single feed to get the bullet close enough to the lands to get the accuracy I want. Rifle brand does not seem to make a difference. I have A Remington, Ruger, and TC. I have to single feed them all.
Wow, this is one of the most informative videos I have ever watched on youtube. Also, you did great work editing - you have a great pace and delivery. I can't stop cracking up every time I see "BUSHING!" pop up at the top of the screen :) Nicely Done!
Still relatively new to reloading and just getting into long range precision. So much learned from this video, you really did cover everything. Thank you
When I was just full length resizing I would get 3 to 4 firings but now I have a neck sizer and I'm getting quite a few but I don't know for sure cause my brass is only on its 4th firing anyways. But I can't wait to see how this goes. My rifle is a tikka and shoots rl23 and 4831 great shoots about anything good really. But I have been waiting for this to get going thanks a bunch Johnny
Where you fully sizing or just bumping shoulders? Mine is a full length but I only bump shoulders about 0.003 and done very well so far. All mine going strong and minimal trimming. Problems really seems to be full sizing and overworking brass at shoulder causing excessive stretching. If you treat it as regular brass after initial firing seems ok.
Yes I was over working the brass hard I was going by the recommendations of the manufacturer so that had I'm sure ALOT to do with it bit. The 300 is hard on brass with most of the loads I've shot in it so far
.300wm is my favorite magnum chambering. RL-22 is the powder for the big 300 for me anyway. 180-220 gr bullets. Belted mags have slot of freebore. Round concentricity is crucial and neck sizing only with a wilson type die and wilson type seater will shrink a 1.5" group to a .25" group
Great video. I load 300 WM for my Ruger No 1S and after two or three firings I can't chamber the reloaded rounds. I am going to have to get one of the Innovated Technologies sizing dies. My favorite hunting bullet for this cartridge is the Speer 180 gr Grand Slam. You do a wonderful job of explaining why you are doing all the various things you do. I've been reloading for 50+ years and still am learning new thing. Keep up the good work.
Video is very well done, just like my meatloaf! I load Hornaday 180s, CCI mag primers, 4350 powder ( couple grains under max ). Works for me on deer at 300 yd.
I'm just not seeing the 1 MOA guarantee with factory ammo in these rifles. I do know they will shoot, but it takes a little work to figure out what they like. Great Video with lots of info.
Mine wouldn't print 1 moa either. Even after a lot of load testing. There are definitely some rifles under $500 that will keep it under moa without much load work. The Compass isn't one in my experience
Yeah I reload 300 win. mag. When I first started out I used the wrong brass, but I have no complaints with the Hornady brass so far. I normally get about 3 or 4 firing max before the bulge by the belt gets to much but I look forward to see how that new die you have works.
Hello sir I am from pakistan Lahore provenc of Punjab. I am an everage hunter and serviceman. I love hunting and reloading. A person who reloads on technical skills get graduate after your very valueable and pretious video. I love that keep making such a useful videos God bless u always stay happy healthy and blessed aameen. Regards
I started watching yesterday, but I took a drink every time bushing flashed on the screen.
I passed out.
Excellent video very informative
A JRB feature film! It’s hard to comprehend just how much knowledge is in this video all available for free. Great stuff man thanks so much!
Yes!!! Best $10 I ever paid on RUclips. Basically paid for a JRB movie ticket

I appreciate you for doing this donation over 4 years ago 🙏
I have been waiting for these videos forever and I don't even own a 300 win mag yet
Yeah I love my 6.5 creedmoor, but I just built a 6.5 Grendel for my long range shooting to 1000 yards.

Plops over an hour of video content on the table with a *meaty thwack*
Put me down as being one of the people that like long videos.
Thanks for making this one! I'm in the same boat about not needing a 300 Win Mag but, I won one so here I am. I really enjoyed all your videos so far and I'm sure this one will serve me well.
I been reloading for 30 years... and I learned something today.... thank you
I do not shoot 300 win mag but it is a JRB video so I watched it all.

Thanks for the laugh😆🤜🍻⚜️
I've heard a lot of people saying a lot of different things as far as belted magnums and the bulge around the belt. I'd love to see a long term review of two different lots of brass one using the Larry Willis collet die and the other using standard full length sizing dies and see what the results are. Thanks for all the awesome videos and the info you provide.
It would not be long term. After a few firings you cannot chamber belted brass without the Willis collet die.
An hour and thirty six in your humor got to me, thank you for the dedication and work you put into this along with your humor.
Watched this from start-to-finish. One of the most educational channels on RUclips.
That’s a lot of information to take in. I may have to watch this a couple times. Thanks for taking the time to make a video of this magnitude.
I've avoided the bushing dies up to this point. Getting bushing die info along with 300 win mag reloading info is a real bonus! Thanks! Excellent as always!
Reloading the 300 win mag is going to be my summer project..
It's like you could read my mind from all the way across that pond! Been mulling over a 300 wm really interested in this vid.
I'm a Brit, and I've owned one for twenty years. I've just had it rebarreled.
I'm on deercontrol7@gmail.com
Winchester modle 70 classic s/s with a boss.(first one in Canada )
24 inch barrel, +boss
73 grains 7828 powder
Win./ fed brass
Win. Mag primer
200 grain seirra game king
Average 2960 fps ( 10 shot average )
Full lenth resized and trimmed every time. Some cases reloaded more than 6/7 times.
Hunting in the East Kootanys Canada.from the bottom lands to top of the Rockies. It works.
Great video. Professionally done. The longer video was a great Xmas gift...love em. You do good work.
Brother you got me into reloading virus , thank you for this educational channel ! Happy holidays !
It only gets worse as you keep reloading. Welcome to the reloading ODC class. The only known cure it to pull the lever on a once a week basis. 😁
reloading is the true perpetum mobilae. The more you learn, the more questions.
I found the "bushing" to be fantastically hilarious. Every time it flashed up, I laughed. Thanks for that.
@Joe Chance He spends his money testing things so we don't have to. I appreciate it.
Wow 8.5 twt in 308 ? That be good for some 260 grain hollow points at about 22-2300 fps.
Man oh man, a cup of coffee and some coffee cake and an almost 2 hr jrb it’s gonna be a good day
I just plunked down some serious money on a custom 300 win mag for long range hunting and shooting.
Thanks for the great review of our Belted magnum collet resizing die ! Great video overall as well !
This is perfect for me. I've got a Rem 700 heavy 24" barrel that shoots pretty well. I can't wait.
Literally loaded and going to range today for another trip of reloads through my 300WM TC compass. Wasn't impressed with my sig brass but we will see.
My Sig brass primer pockets were garbage after 3 firings...kinda soured me on future purchases.
I have a Browning 300 win mag and its an absolute tac driver.
same
I just bought a Browning Xbolt in 300 win mag and I can’t wait to shoot it. Glad to hear it’s a tac driver
@@sandych33ks1 ok I'll try those out. Thanks for the advise!
Hope you
work up accurate hunting loads for the 300 Win Mag as well.
Ask how did he like the 300
Great if he had one..
Hour past he don't even own one.. what's up....
Only clue is he will know when he gets one.
Hats off to these guy .
James enjoyed it so much
He is ready with past on knowledge.
That alone have to say my self
Thanks guys.
I just watched the whole thing and didnt even realize it was that long. Great info at a steady pace (it may help that I watched it at 1.5 speed).
@rob roy thanks for the info, looking for a lighter load for white tail in ny. the 180 just destroys them, only shooting about 100 yrds.
"Go jump in a lake."
That alone was worth the almost 2 hours! Way to go JRB!!!
Just getting into the 300WM myself and I loved this video very much. Thank you sir!
Excellent information. This is the best and longest video I have ever watched on RUclips.
I load alot of belted mags and never have I had this issue, and I always look as to the max, I’m on my fifth firing on my 7mm rem mag and still going strong
The shell holder is why I love Lee Reloading dies comes with every set.
I'm glad you elaborated on the neck sizing portion as that was what I was most confused about and you cleared it up. Great video!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I have been having accuracy issues with my Remington 700 but the 220g SMK load is AMAZING!! Thank you!!
I shared your joy when you validated handloading with that first group.
I contemplated buying one of those dies. I never developed a problem chambering my reloads without it so I never dropped the hammer. Savage 110.
That's what makes this a great cartridge. It'll shoot bullets from 110gr.-240gr. very well. Options are the great thing about reloadig.
Here's some advice from years of experience with a 300WM :
Though your procedures are very good, you need to work on recoil control, as in you should control the forend, or even gently rest your hand on the scope.
Hold that forend! Abandon the crossed arm position.
the only thing he needs to do is stop talking so much about useless stuff
Super excited for this video series
You are helping me with my only belted mag, now I understand...thanks
YES!
Very thorough explanation on Redding Type S bushing die.
good guy also.
Your shoulder is going to love this caliber choice. Ten five shot groups here we come
Thank you for the info Johnny.
Excellent content for the family of belted magnum calibers. I like that you've got an "index" at the beginning of your video.
Thank you!
Excellent video, been waiting for it ever since you mentioned the rifle in the 6.5cm video.
WOW That 220 grain JBK group is crazy good!!!
.300wm is my favorite magnum chambering.
This was along time ago but did it help at all
Yes, the IT sizing dies works great @@jacobstallcup8648
Video is very well done, just like my meatloaf! I load Hornaday 180s, CCI mag primers, 4350 powder ( couple grains under max ). Works for me on deer at 300 yd.
I'm just not seeing the 1 MOA guarantee with factory ammo in these rifles. I do know they will shoot, but it takes a little work to figure out what they like. Great Video with lots of info.
The one to try would be 190SMK GMM.
Pretty much every rifle under 500 dollars.
You crack me up, man I wish you still made videos!

Good thing I was off today. I'd have been pissed if I had to wait all day to watch a new JRB video :)
