Smoothing Circuit on my Staccato Tesla Coil

Hey Everyone,
In this video, I show off my recent achievement of smoothing the rectified voltage into my ramped tesla coil with the flip of a switch. It should have been an easy feat, but I first used a low-power switch, which instantly died. Then I built a few other versions using the same kind of weak switch to turn on a MOSFET to connect the capacitor, but then, the MOSFET dies from inrush current. So, I then scavenged a higher power toggle switch, and alas, the simpler solution was the better solution. So now I can transform my staccato tesla coil into a long-pulse DRSSTC with the flip of a switch! Next up, MUSIC! ;)
