I installed a big sub in mine only to realise how rattly every plastic trim is and even the door glass was rattling if you left it half way up. Even back then not many people knew what it was.

In case someone hasn't noticed. Look at the Nissan Pulsar for parts. It's the same car except as a saloon rather than coupe. Same interior (except front seats) and same mechanicals. They are a lot more prolific in scrap yards and parts are cheap. Glove box should match as it's the same dashboard.

The only other one was the modern model from a few years ago ( apparently they thought about doing a hot one but decided against it. I am such a nerd. I saw the thumbnail and guessed it to be a Civic Del Sol or a 100NX. I don't know whether to be proud or ashamed. I haven't seen a 100NX in years and I still think it's a pretty little thing. My '89 Honda motorcycle has one of those asbestos stickers, I think it's either some of the plastics or wiring sheathing. Harmless as long as you don't start sanding or heat-gunning them.
I love the man-maths; "I need a donor car, so I'll buy a second, but it's also quite nice so if I repair both then the profit will average out."
That said, I do have a serious soft spot for the 100NX so I'm genuinely glad Matt is daft enough to save both and call it a business!

I'm even sadder...I nailed it as a Nissan NX straight off. Were they all 1.6L there in the UK? We got them here in Australia, but my recollection was that they were all a 2.0L, which made the performance a bit more appropriate to the looks, I'd imagine. I always kinda liked the look of these, and you do, on a rare occasion, still see one out "in the wild" here (rust isn't such an issue in our climate). Cheers!

Well done on saving two examples of a car that's always been overlooked. And it's brought back some happy memories for me, as I owned one about 15 years ago, when I worked on magazines and bought a 100NX that had been owned by a writer for Max Power and was featured in the mag a couple of times. It had a bodykit, loud exhaust, cobra seats, and a full respray (sadly over the rust, which was why it eventually ended up off the road for a bit, and someone walking past made me an offer I foolishly accepted rather than paying out for the welding).
It may have been incredibly slow, but it was so much fun on a sunny day with the roof off - and the owners club was really helpful and friendly back then.
Only downside is that now I want another one (or something similar)...

So good to see some of these again! I had a white M-reg one in the late 2000s, and I absolutely adored it. Super reliable, nice growl from the engine, silky smooth gearbox, and nippy enough if you got the revs up a bit. And of course with the roof off in summer it was a blast. Sadly, mine got rear-ended by a half-asleep woman in a rover. I've never been so gutted to lose a car.
The broken parcel shelf is pretty much standard on these, I think you might struggle to find one that hasn't had a repair. Also check that the heater blower works on all speeds - the resistor board tends to burn out and then the fan only works on one setting. It's a fairly easy fix, there used to be some good guides online, although they might be long gone now.
One final thing to check is the welding seam on the rear turrets - you need to peel back the boot carpet to see it - they have a tendancy to rot out, and if that happens the whole turret can separate from the chassis.

Put them both back on the road, these were the car of choice when I was out in Cyprus in the early 1990's, the JDM version was a 2ltr 155bhp version which is rarer but made it a bit more fun to drive.
There is actually a blue one near me, still on the road too 😊

I'll be honest I think these are the videos that people not like but love,if you had just decided to just scrap the blue one I think people would of been genuinely gutted.you ve done the right thing and saved a genuine classic, never going to make you a fortune but not going to lose you any money either 😊 the white one is just a bonus and I'm sure everyone is looking forward to seeing them both saved and back on the road....well done 😊

It's such a shame this video wasn't released earlier. Silverlake scrapyard in Southampton had a 100NX in the yard a month or so go, same colour as the blue one and it was mint inside and out. Genuinely looked like it had just come out of the factory.

I had the burgundy version of that for many years, was my first car. Absolutely loved it, never failed me. 220000 km before I had to give it away and I still regret that.
Many similar parts with the Nissan sunny, especially wheels, almera might work as well. Absolutely a keeper, it is a little rocket if you look after it. I am looking forward to see what happens with them

Underneath welding aside. The bodywork needs to be done properly. The rear arches need chopping off and new metal welding in, if and when you do that, you will probably find the inner arches are buggered. On the other hand, filler and bodge is just kicking the problem down the road.

Had a 1990 1.6 carb model (90hp) for 2 years. It was slow, unresponsive and dull to drive however it was comfortable, easy to live and had a big boot. I always thought the 100hp injection models would have been much better. I recall the clips that hold the parcel shelf in place frequently broke but apart from that completely reliable, I think it was based on Nissan Sunny platform. Good luck with getting them back on the road.

One suggestion: Strip out the blue one, and make it into a classic track/hillclimb car. The parts from the interior can be used to refurbish the white one.
Just a suggestion, as I said.
