My hometown for the first 40 years of my life and no matter where I end up in this world it will always be home. I only live 20 minutes away and still visit regularly.
Well done overall. I graduated High School in '79 and I see many familiar places and what seems nice new changes. I'm glad you appreciated, explored and highlighted the beautiful nature and Mother Earth power of Ossining as economics is not main criteria for the Joys of our Community. Overall well done video. Thank you
My home town .my fishing spots graduated in 86 so many memories. You got home sick.
Miss my hometown Ossining😢. Was born and raised there until I was 13 and unfortunately moved out of state with my parents
Great place! Such a chill vibe.
i lived in Ossining x 9 years since 2002 was a very nice place to me im from Uruguay
Welcome 🎉
So much is familiar, and so much isn't. I was born in Ossining, graduated from OHS in 1973 and so much has changed. That brewery was, if I remember correctly, Emerson Electronics--a manufacturing plant. I worked the summer after HS across the street, for Bert and Garry Keller, pumping gas. Hav-a-hart traps were once made in Ossining, and the waterfront, back then, only had the fancy yacht club, not very nice otherwise. A friend, Gareth Hougham, was instrumental in the Sing Sing Kill walkway. I also remember the wonderful buildings torn down where Main and Spring met...and were never replaced. And, of course, there was the Victoria Theater where we'd spend a rainy saturday seeing double-features, plus cartoons, and documentary shorts, with popcorn, raisinets, and a soda.
Born and raised there I could tell you about the real Crawbucky beach which was a hot spot for fishing Stripe Bass .
Lucky! I love fishing
Great presentation!! I grew up here..fond memories!! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this video. I grew up there. Left in '82. Waterfront has completley changed.
That's one constant that I've seen in all the Hudson River Valley towns....beautiful waterfronts. Most were industrial and overgrown years ago so I'm glad to see all the changes.
@@DestinationMan Nice to see all the trails by the arches. In my day, that area was a dangerous place. My Aunt was mugged on the aqueduct walking from Main to Ann back In the 70's. She did not want let go of her purse and wound up with a broken wrist.
Great video! Same as Samuel, I grew up there across the street from the library. I had no idea about the walkway under the double arch! I must go back to O-Town and visit this along with revisiting my hang out days at Washington Square a.k.a "The Square", sleigh riding on flattened cardboard boxes on death hill behind the old library, and my good ol' elementary school for 8 years--St. Ann's.
The walkway was amazing. It's really unique!
nice!
When you go back be sure to stop by the Ossining Bakery. I miss living here.
ooooo will do! I'm a sucker for bakeries
Where is the bakery now? When I lived there it was on N. Highland Ave
@@ginadurie8629 its still there.
@Sutton Realty Group on the corner? I used to live across the street from it FIFTY FIVE YEARS AGO...lol. haven't been in ossining in 50 years! Thanx for the video. 😃
Very beautiful and pleasing. My interest grew after knowing about Sing Sing. Wanted to see the location around the prison. Your video did complete justice. Thank u it was really very nice.
Your welcome! The prison is super interesting. You can get pretty close to it.
I used to ride my bicycle just outside the walls of Sing Sing as a young boy. The well behaved inmates were outside the walls on the grounds cutting grass often in the summer when I would ride by them. They never bothered me.
Thank you for showing our beautiful Ossing.
Thanks!
I live in NYC and I like those town along Hudson River. I wish I could move to small town with simple life😂 Please keep making such a nice video.
The towns have sooo much character. I can def see the appeal of that lifestyle for sure
Thank you for visitng Ossining. I live here!
Lucky you! It's a beautiful place. I really loved the all the parks nearby.
The greenway trail was supposed to go under the bridge shown 8:43 8:50 and go further down but i forgot the reason why they didnt. Would have been cool to see tho
interesting....probably because of lack of funds.
DRI funds are to extend the Greenway. So you got your wish.
Thank you for showing Ossining! I live there btw!
How much would you say you need to live in Ossining? I’m thinking of moving from Las Vegas to work in New York, but I didn’t want to live in an apartment so I was looking for houses within 1 hour commute
Nice! lucky you
It's not that expensive. Definitely cheaper than most Hudson River Valley towns. The median house price is about $500k.
@@Seiji96 single family $400K
I don't remember these waterfront parks in my childhood!
Probably because they're relatively new. Most of the waterfront was heavily industrialized all throughout the Hudson River Valley until towns started to redevelop them
@@DestinationMan Thank you!! Great vodeo!
In my 14 years of living in ossining, I’ve never been to the Sing Sing Kill Greenway
You need to go! Such a beautiful trail.
I think of Mad Men whenever I hear of Ossining
Mad Men was such a great show. We need more quality stuff like that.
barely can hear you
Don't ever move here you talking about boreing this place put the b in capital letters boreing y
Hahaha yeah I get it. But it's close enough by train to the city so its not too isolated.
