I’m late to this particular series. Looking forward to seeing what happens with this GTV. Have there been any more videos about it yet? I think you should turn it back to as original condition as possible. Are there any more reliable injection systems you can use now? Otherwise carbs is the best option. The injection on these was not very good back in the day. Are those the 15” wheels which were an option. They are very rare now. Love the interior. Just restore it to its original wine coloured glory! I think you should keep the bumper and all the brightwork.
Hi, great to see another of these being saved :) I have a silver Australian delivered 1977 GTV which has some suspension mods (lowered, 30mm torsion bars, thicker roll bars, Simmons 15 x 6.5 inch wheels), and Recaro seats from a later model GTV. I have removed the bumpers and have some reproductions of the stock chin spoilers. Most Alfettas here run Dellortos, have heard a lot of chatter about problems with SPICA injection systems but have no direct experience of this. I have done lot of thinking about my car (probably too much!) and in the end have decided to keep it fairly original, keep the wheels and suspension mods, and warm the engine up a little. The overall look I am going for is as if the car had been "done up" in the early 80's. Interior will be black vinyl, a bit plain but period-correct. For some race or track car inspiration, google "alfetta gt tourist trophy" and have a look at the red "Napolina" car - love that look! Very tempted to turn my car into a tribute but I will resist and save that for another day (or car). Interior-wise if originality is not primary concern I really like the David Lee Monza Evo Dino - the cherry red looks fantastic with the black exterior. This has turned into a bit of an essay, hope it is useful!
Appreciate your feedback SO much...join our group and share pics of your car.. it will be fantastic ❤️😎 facebook.com/groups/1103758010011305/?ref=share
Yes take the bumper off. Keep the wine colour velvet as it reminiscent of that era and get a Spica injection system. Personally that white gTv you showed in your video you should emulate. Love from the 🇬🇧
Go European chrome bumpers and chin spoilers. Keep the Webbers for that lovely burble! Contact Alfa Museum and they can tell you what interior colour and fabric should be. Your right get rid of the fussy chrome strips that were down both sides! Poly Bush the suspension and fit a stiffer front anti roll bar. That should keep you busy for a day or two!
The problem with pulling the bumpers from US market cars is that the front bumper wasn't mounted like the rest of the world's. It was raised and the bodywork had to have a couple square cuts in it to match. The plan for my '75 is to cut out the support bracketry and weld in sheet metal to refinish that area around the lower grilles to rest of the world specification (including possibly using the turn signals from those cars (which are also different from US spec). It's a lot of work, but it's the only way to make it look "right". But I have seen people leave the brackets and holes in place and mount spotlights on them, and that's a decent looking, much cheaper alternative. Keep the interior standard, imo.
Give it a vacuum inside, wipe down the dash and the speedo....put some petrol in it (gas) see if it will run?...if it will... you need to put one self taping screw in the front spoiler...try the brakes...and drive it...its beautiful as it is...don't spoil it!!
Hi, you got yourself a very nice project there. I love these cars and have a 1982 GTV 2.0 South African assembled. My advice would be as follows: 1)Body: Take the car apart and restore the body in full. Your car has rust in all the usual places, but you need to save it before it becomes too expensive to restore. I would remove the front spoiler and get the correct two piece original item. These US-Spec bumpers do not look too bad, but rather than remove them, consider Euro stainless steel bumpers. They are quite slim and compliment the shape of the car nicely. The front end does not look 100% right without bumpers. 2)Interior: The leather looks like it shrinked from sun exposure. I would think about re-upholstering the seats and restoring the dash. Both brown and dark red would suit your exterior colour. 3)I do not like the Weber set-up as currently on your car. You really need the Euro headers to go with that and also the Euro intake manifold, fuel pump, etc. Then rather get all the parts of the Euro model. I also think the Euro model has slightly better cams, so I am not sure if the Webers will give more power if nothing else is changed. And get the Euro airbox and fit proper airfilter. On the other hand the Spica injection is a beautiful system and can work well when set up correctly. Consider putting it back? Unless it is the one where the power is really quite low? Nothing prevents you from fitting Euro headers and 10548 or hotter cams with that, provided you can have it set up properly. I would suggest you buy the late Pat Braden's books, it has lots of good insights on US Alfas: Alfa Romeo Owners Bible especially. Enjoy your project!
I'd say keep it on carbs for the sound, and extra power. It looks like whoever had it, was enjoying it with the carbs, and the twin exit exhaust. Will take a lot of work to restore that body. Many hours of cutting and fabricating. Would be worth it in driver enjoyment, but probably not financially 😂
Thank you for your feedback, I’m working now on keeping the carbs, they didn’t have the chance to enjoy the carbs, when they converted for some reason it didn’t work out abs the car was sitting for years.. I will get her running ❤️🙏🏻
Entirely depends on what you plan to do with the car. If you want to race with it, remove the bumpers and other unnecessary stuff. Otherwise, bring it back to its original condition.
I’m afraid that to bring it to totally original and to restore it this way will cost MUCH more then to buy ready beautiful restored one 😎 that’s the best of course but checking all and appreciate you guys advises ... important to me ❤️
Hi, I am restoring my old gtv6 at the moment, but I owned an 84 2 litre gtv. What you should do is source a 2lt twinspark out of a 75/Milano and put it in. 148bhp standard and it is lighter than a v6. It would handle real sweet.
I understand, but a twinspark gtv would be special. I don't want to throw a wrench in the works, but it would make a great race car for track days. Whatever you choose, do it for yourself and drive the wheels off it. Thank you so much for your channel, it is really great entertainment. Keep up the good work!

Should have said too, happy to share intel about parts suppliers if needed.
That Stelvio is gorgeous. So is the Giulia.

That’s the best solution, did it before but you don’t have the TS here in the US 😢
You could get the engine and ecu etc from the UK or somewhere that got the twinspark 75.
@@grahammiddleton8447 yes.. shipping is a killer... in this price you can convert it to V6 busso engine 😎
