Ok. The cylinder can be checked with a scope. Professional garages or specialists have these nowadays as they are quite inexpensive. Could be a good idea to do a compression test as well. Not so complicated. These engines are very strong. Liked your videos. Good luck!
I have an 87 vert and the pump leaked hydraulic fluid and totally saturated the sponge. I bought suitable sound deadening material from Amazon to use as a replacement. Did the whole floor, worked perfectly.
In fact, the manual suggests to use either NGK BP-6ES, Bosch W 7DC or Champion N-9YC. With an electrode gap of 0,6 - 0,7 mm. I'd go with the NGK, but I still ought to find them.
I saw metal shavings on the first spark plug you pulled out. That means your engine is running too hot. You. should check for any damage in the cylinder and definitely check the cooling system before you fire the engine up again.
Well, the hot engine can be explained by the leak in the heater core (the reason I had to strip all the interiors of the car). About the cylinder, I already sprayed fogging oil in all combustion chambers and, spoiler, I already cranked the engine a couple of times. My main priority here is to get the car to run so I can put some lincence plates on it. After that I'll make sure to bring her to a professional mechanic to have the 1st cylinder checked.
It looks like you have the USA turbo alloy wheels on your car which are very nice and quite rare. I think your car must have the front wheel handbrake system which is an extraordinary Saab quirk, I have this system on my car and I personally like it, they are very well engineered!
Not sure what the paste is. You'll want to use automotive rubbing or polishing compound and then wax after it has been buffed out. Household cleaner would be too harsh. Yes, I am pedantic. 😉
@TheBTG88 I don't know either, it did a great job at cleaning the paint but at the same time it almost sanded it. Now I'm planning on waxing it 2 or 3 times to fill eventual scratches and making it shiny again.
Fantastic

@preamble466 for now I've put back the original material, but if the problem reaccurs, I'll follow your example.
We always used NGK brand spark plugs for Saabs in the shop where I worked.

@@EttoreSAAB900 Definitely NGK. 41 years of driving Saabs and the only brand I would use.
@TheBTG88 I'll see if I can find some. Or if you know where to find them, please tell me, that would be of great help.
