This was a great track...Clapton's solo on this track on the studio recording is one of his best but rarely quoted...the two opening notes are beautiful and so well constructed...and gingers Solo is so well composed. This you tube recording is priceless...why wasn't it released????
All I can say is that there will never be another Ginger Baker.Thank God though for the gift of recording and the ability to be able to have these moments in time captured for those of us who appreciate the genius and magnitude of those musicians who unfortunately are no longer with us.When I watch Ginger play it literally brings tears to my eyes and I can only fantasize of being there in person. But again I am grateful to be able to listen and enjoy and this solo of his is incredible!God bless ya Ginger and may you rest in peace. All my respect Mr Baker. What the hey. It doesn't matter which Ginger's drum solo is the best version. Cherish them all...we lost 1 of the best drummers, hands down. RIP Mr Baker, u will b missed. & I don't even know him. Sheesh...
Great fusion of Toad and Do What You Like solo. Had never heard him play rolls like that previously. Simply pile driving Woodshed at its best. And his double bass foot work is beyond human.
Great double bass work here. Baker inspired so many drummers & his style was his own. Baker's timing is remarkable & left foot never loses time on the hats & is 1 of his signature attributes. Never heard a boring drum solo or playing. His music was always a cut above & always sounds new & fresh no matter what, who, when or where he's playing. Baker has always been a leader & played for the music. Thank you for post this great music.
Far out & heavy, man. Brings back memories alrite. Older bro went to this concert here n L.A.'s Hllywd Bowl summer '69.(?) Jerk was n2 downers & was so loaded that nite the only thing he remembered was that he awoke for a sec, looked at Ginger Baker, our idol, saw him playing his drum solo for a min & went back to sleep. We never for gave him 4 that. Thanks 4 posting tho. Different version than original recording but live, doesn't get any better. Ur time, work is greatly appreciated. Stay safe bro.
Was at one of those LA concerts @ Forum with a similar experience. In those days you could watch from the unsold seats behind the stage. Locked eyes with the guy who taught me drumming. Don’t be too mad at your brother. Baker was at that moment doing the opposite drug: on speed. Ghost eyes!
Really profound how after the boys have the solos from the electric instruments, to then go back into the chorus to allow the drums to be set off more profound. Very beautiful performance overall.
He sure did make a lot of noise with that double bass, like rolling thunder. But he could be very subtle as well. he had a great ear for music. And personality. Absolutely one of a kind
Take a toke or, if you prefer, a slurp of your favorite wine. Start "Do What You Like" on your device. Dim the lights. Good! Now put on your headphones and lie down on your sofa or bed. Simply close your eyes, take a deep breath, and then exhale slowly. Excellent! You are about to hear the grandest, longest musical pyrotechnics finale ever. Enjoy! 😎
I agree. Thank you for your story. This comment of yours is why I started the 10bohemian channel on RUclips many years ago. Let us all appreciate outstanding music. Headphones please.
Great! Thanks for this. So glad I got to see him solo with Cream, Blind Faith, and Jack Bruce Group. He got standing ovations at all three concerts.

Got to see Blind Faith at their only Connecticut performance.

I was skeptical when I read the title of this video, but I must say, this just could be his best drum solo.........just amazing!

He lived to be eighty. Pretty good age for anyone
@@springfieldmugshotshouser5113 My mom's 98. But then again she lives the straight & narrow. And didn't play the skins. Bless her heart.

Coming down a mountain on a drum chariot of fire.

He said all through his life that someone must have something to say in order to play the drums right. He was the proof for this rule.

I saw Blind Faith in Honolulu in 1969, just home from Vietnam. Before Baker blue himself out with speed.
Can hear a bit of Art Blakey in Ginger's solo
Glad you shared. Ginger Baker is amazing. My inspiration to play the drums
Ginger the Baker Man - cause he cooks.
HOLY SHIT ............
@15:18 is my favorite part of this Do What You Like drum solo. Especially the studio version. My GAWD! AMAZING!
Fantastic. Thanks for putting this up there. I can listen to these guys, especially Ginger, all day.

R.I.P. dear Mr. Ginger Baker
rip ginger baker....
Amazing music, by all. And Ginger......AHH, heavenly
Also the tone and Sound of his kit
His feet are his other hands!
Thanks for posting Great audio
Is this borrowed from Take Five (Brubeck 1959)? 5/4 time. Nice choice for a drum solo.
Most Year great drummers back-in-the-day learn from Carmine Appice from Vanilla Fudge

Thanks for asking. Our studio musical group is private. Of course you can subscribe to the channel.
Sounds like someone falling down stairs with a drum kit.....a touch of 'The Emperors New Clothes' attached to Mr. Baker.
YAWN.
Nonsense!
