As an Irish gal and a trad player because that's the only way to get gigs in bars I'm mesmerised with the intricate playing style you demonstrated! LOVED IT when the pace picked up to the Celtic tune aswell
I absolutely LOVE the DADGAD tuning. You can easily play any type of genre: Celtic, American Folk, Indian, Spanish, etc. It's amazing. There should be more songs written with this tuning. I thought I heard a bit of Black Mountain Side/White Summer in there. Great job!
Zach Johnson I heard the black mountain side/white summer reference too. I thought that’s what he was about to play. This was incredible playing. I’m gonna go pawn my guitar now and just sleep the rest of my life
AND : Hungarian folk music IS also In that tuning, based on theFAR-EAST -music/tuning PENTATHONIA ! I think. :) do LISTNEN Hungarian FOLK songs !!! By! Joe/Budapest(HUN)
Zach, if you haven't already done so, check out the work of Bert Jansch and Davy Graham. Two British guitarists sadly no longer with us, but Davy was the innovator of the DADGAD tuning, and Bert actually wrote the guitar arrangement that Jimmy Page copied for Black Mountain Side. Bert's original was the traditional song Blackwaterside. Both were brilliant acoustic guitarists.
Josh's parents forbid him playing the playstation so he started playing guitar. At the age of 13, if I'm not mistaken. It proved to be an excellent decision :)
Termix Thoraxim - truth! I think the direct quote would have been "maybe now you can find something worthwhile to do with your life!" Picked up his dad's guitar out of spite & the rest is history!
More parents should do the same. To many video game lumps out there not experiencing the world. It blows my mind how soft and smart ass kids are today. Think they know everything there is to know yet they know absolutely nothing. Fresh out of technical colleges for industrial maintenance and they barely know how to use a screwdriver. Its pathetic. They get mad when they also think they are worth 30 years experience pay but don't get it. No initiative to even learn the actual trade the graduated technical college for either. Take selfies and play on their phones all day. Ok rant over. Great job man
I just found that "How Stuff Works" used a sample of one of your videos explaining some aspects about music and sound waves in general. And look at that, I have just stumble upon a great, great channel. Greetings from México.
This is another video I keep coming back to. Really enchanting. You have a gift, Josh. The long and perfectly on-pitch bend there at the end really seals it. Great work.
Absolutely beautiful Josh...as always! Was asked to find out if there are any plans for putting out a Josh only album? Maybe a mix of styles? Instrumental as well as with voice? It's time, you know....
LOVE THIS. Reminds me of old Leo Kottke. You bring such joy to my house. I can't get anything done though beause I keep stopping whatever I'm doing to go over to the computer to watch, to write down the name of the song, to dance, etc.
I have a "love/hate" relationship with you! I love everything that you do, but hate that you are so talented at such a young age. Keep it up Young Man, you make us old dudes try harder!!!
All of these incredibly knowledgeable musically talented people commenting... I have no idea what I'm listening to. All I know is I LOVED it, I can tell that it is coming from your heart and soul, I know it will take me a while to get my jaw off the floor, and I think I'm crying. 🤷🏼♀️
I used to play a few chords in DADGAD tuning a few years back and I thought I was special :) but this performance blows my mind. I wish I can play I like that but maybe in another life :) You are one of the best musicians on RUclips and a great inspiration for me. Keep the covers coming
I listen to this and i wonder.. how did you learn all those different techniques and instruments up to this level, i mean do you practice 40 hours a day?? If i start now it'll take me about 200 years
Haha! Those bends are really something else! I'm too cheap to flex the strings like that. I know you've heard it a million times, but you are incredible Josh! People are blessed that a guitar was once put in your hands.
How much sensitivity do you NEED to play this. You got it bro! I follow you since a long while and I love every video you upload. Cheers from Argentina!
Josh Just amazing... very beautiful and played with soul. Are you in a conservatory? We're amazed not only at your talent and versatility on so many instruments and genres, but all of the really talented friends that keep dropping in your house like there's an endless supply of them! We want a CD!!! Get on it! Also where are you touring?
chasing tones is a fool's errand to me. I spent far too much time and insane amounts of money trying to get Gilmour's tone. Then I learned that the reason i love him is the passion and control he played with. Play with passion, recognize your volume and wield it, write/play music that moves you... then it won't matter if you play it on a Martin or a Squire!
Josh, I find your right hand technique to be quite interesting. It's not strictly a classical position but it suits your sound wonderfully. I also have a slant like yourself and I also find this provides me more tonal options on a steel string guitar. You get a really nice tone.
Thanks for the great information on the Martin's Josh! I couldn't agree with you more. I am kinda rethinking my Tascam DR-07 MKII that I currently record with remotely on projects after listening to your Zoom. I think I have some researching to do ;-)
I play this one on loop for hours, it's one of the finest guitar performances Josh has ever done.
or anyone
There is something really beautiful about seeing Claudio Monteverdi and Davy Graham in one place.
As an Irish gal and a trad player because that's the only way to get gigs in bars I'm mesmerised with the intricate playing style you demonstrated! LOVED IT when the pace picked up to the Celtic tune aswell
Beautiful! I wish I was younger so I could watch the rest of Josh's career!!

@@gyorgyolah7649 hello. Are there any artists you can recommend who play Hungarian folk using dadgad. Thanks

My wife says someday they are going to find your spaceship 'cos no one from this world plays as amazing as you do ;)
rarely seen such an amazing guitar player! Awesome! Great! Josh, You're the man.
30 years playing and I'm still nowhere near this. But I'm happy.
My uncle taught me a Lil n like I tell em can't play nothing but I can beat it up hahaha
Amazing. I'm in awe of this young man and his abilities.
Unbelievable and played with amazing soul and love of music.
I love you man!
planet earth is lucky to have folks like you.
The world lost a PlayStation player and won a great musician. This was breathtaking, Josh, especially the fast section of the Graham piece. Wow.
Zs
A playstation player? Explain.
Josh's parents forbid him playing the playstation so he started playing guitar. At the age of 13, if I'm not mistaken. It proved to be an excellent decision :)

Extraordinarily impressive, your videos never fail to blow me away!
Awestruck. You're the best music guy I've seen in a long time. Fast, flawless, technical and emotional.
This performance gave me chills down the spine...you truly kicked ass here.👍👍
I just found that "How Stuff Works" used a sample of one of your videos explaining some aspects about music and sound waves in general. And look at that, I have just stumble upon a great, great channel. Greetings from México.
Please refer me to this How It Works episode
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
Enjoyed it so much I'm going back for another round...!
Thanks for the performance :)
This is incredible. I wish it was 10 times longer than it is.
Love this!!! Love the chords and the lovely harmonious sounds!!! Josh you’re amazing!
First vid of yours I've come across, love the deep haunting tone and high trills of the dadgad
Such great diversity your music is both uplifting and inspiring, many thanks Josh.
This is another video I keep coming back to. Really enchanting. You have a gift, Josh. The long and perfectly on-pitch bend there at the end really seals it. Great work.
So beautiful! Literally breathtaking
Both pieces played amazingly - but the Davy tune is superb, cleaner than the original but no less astonishing.
WOW! That is flat out SICK! You are very GIFTED to say the least.
In a world of crazy craziness, just pause a while and go with this glimpse of heaven.
Incredible playing. Just brilliant
Jesus! I wasn't expecting it to be that good but boy oh boy was that beautifully played!!!
Absolutely beautiful Josh...as always! Was asked to find out if there are any plans for putting out a Josh only album? Maybe a mix of styles? Instrumental as well as with voice? It's time, you know....
Outstanding playing Josh, and what a lovely crisp full sound you get from your Martin,,,,
I don't know how I missed this! This is excellent!!!
I love to hear Rory Gallagher play "She Moved Through The Fair"...You sounded great !!
Before us, one of the biggest guitar players in his (present) early years!
Simply astounding.
Wow! Just discovered this clip. Would like to hear more! Very, very nice.
You play with such Spirit---you have a wonderful gift, Josh!
LOVE THIS. Reminds me of old Leo Kottke. You bring such joy to my house. I can't get anything done though beause I keep stopping whatever I'm doing to go over to the computer to watch, to write down the name of the song, to dance, etc.
Great technique; I'm especially impressed by how sharply you articulate on the fretboard.
She moved through the fair a la Davy Graham. Amazing
2:27 sublime! Not many can pull off Mr Davy Graham so sweetly 👏
Gosh, this brings me to tears. Many thanks. There is something about modal tunings that ...I don't know.
Wow 👍🏼 man you making it looks so easy and smooth, although its not 😅. Thank you Josh for the 4 minutes of complete joy
...in the key of Kashmir.
Thank you Josh. Awesome. Just awesome.
I have a "love/hate" relationship with you!
I love everything that you do, but hate that you are so talented at such a young age.
Keep it up Young Man, you make us old dudes try harder!!!
Why do you hate it?
Adam Morkus Probably jealousy. Nothing wrong with that, it's a normal human emotion
@@rofufoja if handled right, its just a source of motivation
Brilliant! Shades of White Summer & a whole host of other Jansch, graham, renbourne influenced stuff. Josh gets better & better. What a talent.

continue playing from that big soul of yours, excellent work.
Grazie for this Italian tribute...ciao da Milano

Is that "White Summer/Black Mountain Side" by Led Zeppelin I'm detecting?
I think you're right!
***** Jimmy Page was clasically trained and played a lot in DADGAD. no doubt one inspired the other
+Colton Roberts Plants great version is mainly a combination of Davy Graham's 'She moved through the bazaar' and Bert Jansch's 'Blackwaterside'
Man i really appreciate these videos you do
I listen to this and i wonder.. how did you learn all those different techniques and instruments up to this level, i mean do you practice 40 hours a day?? If i start now it'll take me about 200 years
I enjoyed your performance. DADGAD is a beautiful full sound.
Thank you! Your talent is amazing -- thank you for sharing. Your videos help push me to practice and enjoy music with the guitar.
Haha! Those bends are really something else! I'm too cheap to flex the strings like that. I know you've heard it a million times, but you are incredible Josh! People are blessed that a guitar was once put in your hands.
Sweet ending........love that bend!
Impresionante. Artista!!

How can one man have so much talent!? I mean, seriously. Exceptional job my man!
Gorgeous playing. Great job Josh!
Congrats ! You're the best !! I'm waiting for your album
I didn't think it possible, but you're actually getting even better!!
REALLY digging the White Summer bit. Great playing!
The things i would to be able to play like this oh my gosh im stunned!!!!
practice properly and it is very achievable..
Josh

Stunning performance, talented musician, truly!
Also so unique musically and pure perfection!!!
It sounds wonderful Josh. Thank you.
That was nothing less than amazing!!
Beautiful sound to my ears, thank you Josh
Josh - Very Beautiful. In my opinion. You surely are a Great Talented Musician.

Excellent. I enjoy watching you play (and sing).
you are a musical genius
Wow great job, I really enjoy your videos.
Good lord... Great job, man.
Ivan Toni sure tony mcmanus has the tabs
Beautiful Josh. Your guitar work amazes me.
I'm Eigth YO :-) and could say that this is one of the best Musicians in this little peeble in the Sky!
awesome performance Josh. congrats
One of the nice things about open tunings is the sympathetic tones.
Christ.. Breath taking. Beautiful job, dude.
absolutely beautiful
Stunning work Josh !!!
incredible playing.
Awesome performance! Thanks. Thumbs Up !!
Beautifull, well done👍
Beautiful guitar and beautiful playing! Mind sharing what guitar is that?
Magnifique!!!
How beautiful
Impressive in technical skill and artistry
Every time I see a Martin being played like this, I instantly regret purchasing a Taylor.
I bet Josh would sound this good on your Taylor, too.
Taylor's , Martins and Gibson's are fine ....i personally play a Guild ....it's like a Martin / Gibson marriage....
chasing tones is a fool's errand to me. I spent far too much time and insane amounts of money trying to get Gilmour's tone. Then I learned that the reason i love him is the passion and control he played with. This kid could make a cardboard box and a couple of elastic bands sound good. I HATE HIM I TELL YOU!!!
Dont you dare talk about a Taylor that way!
DADGAD FOLK ROBOTS dig you, Mr Turner. Nice work.
Josh, I find your right hand technique to be quite interesting. It's not strictly a classical position but it suits your sound wonderfully. I also have a slant like yourself and I also find this provides me more tonal options on a steel string guitar. You get a really nice tone.

Ooowee that bend on G at 1:33 ripped my soul away.
beautiful pieces
Some white summer/black mountain side thrown in there. Awesome!
Very clean....thanks Josh.
Hi, Josh. Where I can find the tablature? Thank you.
Great music, congratulation Josh !
